An absolutely exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The level of craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail in every single course was extraordinary. You can truly taste the years of mastery behind each piece -from the knife work and preparation to the subtle nuances in flavor and texture. Every bite felt intentional and thoughtfully executed. The service was equally outstanding -- warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and seamless without ever feeling intrusive. The staff created such an elevated yet welcoming atmosphere and made the entire experience feel special. This is not just sushi, it is an art form. A beautiful reflection of tradition, technique, and meticulous detail. Easily one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had. Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates true craftsmanship and impeccable service!

My bf booked this omakase experience for me and it was such a romantic date night spot. They greeted us at the door and the chefs were right in front of us prepping the meal. The sushi was high quality and I saw that they won a Michelin. The flavors and textures were great. The service was top notch, they refilled our drinks several times without us asking. My favorite was the cheesecake at the end. SO DECADENT.

I cannot say good enough things about sushi ii. I've been here quite a few times before and it has ALWAYS been top quality and the staff are also top quality! I know that they made the Michelin Guide and I have to say that it is very well deserved. The entire dinner is an experience from when you walk in to when you leave. A bit on the quieter side but sometimes I enjoy it because I can't be distracted by noise at all. It is truly special and the staff are very kind and warm. On top of that, the food taste and presentation is amazing! It is truly worth every penny. This is great for a special occasion or even just a date night! And don't forget to ask for the red bean cookie at the end of the meal - it's not on the menu but it is a dessert option!

Everything is so delicious! Service is great, chef is very polite and pleasant. MUST try.

This is hands down the best sushi I've had in Orange County. Everything is incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality and care in every bite. The ambiance is minimal, elegant, and gorgeous. Every detail feels meticulous and thoughtfully designed, which makes the whole experience even more special. I've been there twice, and both times were outstanding. You definitely need a reservation ahead of time--it's popular for a reason. It's on the expensive side, but in my opinion, it's absolutely worth it for the quality and overall experience.

This place is absolutely gas. If you wanna pay a good high price for the best food you'll ever eat come here. nothing more to say then this is the best sushi you'll eat, and the Japanese chef is a master

I had a 5/5 experience. This was my first time getting real omakase where I sit at the bar and they serve each nigiri to you. I was amazed by each dish. They had a special for Valentine's day and I was blown away. Each dish was art. We were amazed by all the flavors once it entered our mouth. It was like an explosion of flavors. The sashimi literally melted in your mouth. I was blown away and was very satisfied at the end of the meal. So worth!!

We had the Valentine's Kaiseki Course to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. The food was fresh and delightful. And the service was very attentive. I actually did not make the reservations telling them it was his birthday. But when I mentioned it in conversation with the chef preparing our meal (we sat at the counter, which I recommend, b/c part of the fun was watching him masterfully prepare all the food) that it was my dad's birthday, a candle appeared on the last course adn they sang happy birthday to him. I think it was his favorite part of the day! The Japanese staff were all WONDERFUL and provided excellent service. We all wish we lived closer so we could come more often. Lots of Japanese clientele also confirmed to us that this place is the real deal. Highly recommend! attached are about half of the courses.

The most authentic sushi experience in Newport Beach! Recognized in the Michelin guide 3x, it truly shows. The chefs are so skilled, the staff is so kind, and the fish is so fresh! We watched Chef Susumu Ii slice up a fresh delivery of tuna and we knew that everything we ate would be amazing. My favorite (beside the tuna) is the freshwater eel! It's warm, and slightly sweet from the sauce, and I could probably eat 14 of them! The miso soup is delicious, too! We went for lunch and had Chirashi, which is the same high-quality experience, but at an affordable price- starting at $35/person. The space is intimate but modern and beautiful! Add this to your must-try list!

Clean looking place. The service staffs were wonderfully attentive. We were seated right at the bar and got the full view of the chef at work plating up the beautifully kaiseki set. Everything was wonderful, except for one main item... And that is the food. For $275 pp for kaiseki, I was expected to be wowed, and unfortunately, my palate's response was a lukewarm of... meh...nothing to really be impressed.

Nigiri omakase

Location easy to find. Second floor parking. Easy to get reservation. Accommodating to my change of time. The fish was good quality. I really enjoyed the 5 set appetizer.

Can they accommodate a gluten allergy?

We can accommodate a gluten allergy by chosing the Karatsu sushi course or having a la carte items. That would ensure that only gluten free items are served.

Where do you park?

There is a parking structure right next to the restaurant. We are located on the 2nd floor and have two reserved spots on the same floor. But you are able to park in any other non-reserved spot.

Twenty Eight's decor is very elegant and classy but not stuffy. It is very welcoming and comfortable. We arrived early to enjoy a few cocktails before dinner. Our drinks included the Rebel, Do the Hokey Toki and Somm's Old Fashion. The cocktails were a perfect way to start our evening! We had a party of 9 and ordered a variety of appetizers, entrees and sides. My husband and oldest son ordered the Chateaubriand and thoroughly enjoyed it. My middle son and I ordered the salmon, which was perfect as always. Several of our guests ordered the capellini and prime New York strip. Our appetizers: French fries, truffle fries, salmon crudo, Spanish octopus, Black Tiger Shrimp, and of course the famous griddled scallion pao with sambal chili butter (amazing!). Our sides included: garlic fried rice, broccoli and greens, mac and cheese, Brussel sprouts and potato puree. For dessert we ordered the seasonal sorbets: passionfruit and mango - super refreshing! The restaurant surprised my son with a congratulatory dessert for his graduation - totally unexpected and greatly appreciated! He absolutely loved it and it added such a nice touch to our evening! All the cocktails, appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts are absolutely amazing - we loved everything. But, I will say the one thing that is always above and beyond any other restaurant that I visit is the service. I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate the wonderful and warm customer service! Our hostesses, bartenders, server and food runners truly give you the best experience possible. Kevin was one of the first to warmly greet us - and of course he made us feel like old friends visiting again. Stacie visited us during dinner to check on us and make sure that we were enjoying our evening. Another amazing dinner at Twenty Eight and one that we will never forget. Thank you to Stacie, Kevin and the entire Twenty Eight staff for making my son's graduation dinner the absolute BEST. We will be back soon! Thank you!

All the food we got was good, but in comparison to visiting my local southeast Asian restaurants and accounting for the price, it was okay and not outstanding. The biggest Stand outs of this meal was the breads; they were incredibly fluffy and decadence and were a crowd favorite amongst my friends. Everything we got was something not worth getting, or something I've had better elsewhere. The service was good, but my main complaint was that because my party was a group of 6, we were given an awkwardly large table in a room that was empty except for out table and a few decor. As a result, our voices echoed and once again, the it was quite awkward for a high end restaurant. I wouldn't really come back here as a treat meal again, nor would I rave it to my friends.

Mary, the manager, was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind, making us feel welcomed from start to finish. Dakota was fantastic as well and added to an already outstanding experience. We also had the pleasure of meeting owner John, whose warmth and hospitality were evident. He has truly created something special here. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between relaxed, breezy, and effortlessly trendy without trying too hard. The brunch menu is thoughtfully curated, reasonably priced, and refreshing in a time when brunch can easily become overpriced. Not a single item was over $20. And let's talk about the pancakes. We ordered them both days because they were that good. Light, fluffy, perfectly cooked, and finished with those irresistible crisp golden edges that pancake lovers dream about. Easily some of the best pancakes we've had in a very long time. Bosscat delivers on food, service, value, and atmosphere. It's rare to find a place that gets all four right, but they absolutely nailed it. We can't wait to come back!!

We had a great experience at A +O restaurant | Bar located in the Balboa Bay Club…read more We enjoy stopping at A + O while visiting NPB. Although it is located in a resort, it is definitely a locals spot. Everyone appeared to know each other from the area. Very friendly. We arrived around 11:00 am for Brunch and to watch the final day of The Masters. It was a rainy morning so we elected to sit at the bar. We typically enjoy sitting outside on the patio at the tables or the fire pits, if you still at the bar, you still have a nice view of the boats lined up in the harbor. Tia was the bartender when we arrived. She was very attentive and professional. Tia explained brunch was already over which we were a little bummed but she said she could still do a couple of breakfast boards. Neither looked like what we were interested in eating so we elected to go for lunch. We ordered Bloody Marys and they were delicious. We started with the Chef's Seasonal Burrata - Pistachio pesto, roasted beets, pomegranate, lemon olive oil, fresh herbs, grilled house made focaccia. This was very refreshing and tasty. It is also GF and Veg. I ordered the A+O Burger - Brioche bun, butter lettuce, 1000 island, farmhouse cheddar, caramelized onion, pickles, fries. I ordered it Medium and unfortunately the burger was cooked well done. It had great flavor but it was a little dry since not cooked to order. The fries were delicious, hot and crispy. My husband ordered the Pork Belly Sliders - Pork belly, butterleaf lettuce, roma tomatoes, fresh sliced pickles, spicy aioli, Kings Hawaiian slider bun. He said they were delicious. Tia left and Joe took over. Joe was amazing. Very attentive and friendly. Joe went out of his way to grab a drink I requested that was not available at the bar and brought it out for me. Very nice! The bar was crowded and Joe took care of everyone with ease while giving everyone attention. Cameron also came in shift and was very friendly as well. The service was excellent and we liked the food. If they had cooked my burger to requested temp it would have been perfect. We will be back!

TLDR; Pretty sure this spot used to a pretty crappy brunch buffet spot. Decided to come and see…read morewhat the new spot is like. Advertised live dj on sundays when we made reservations and there was no live music. Food is overall bland as hell, steak was chewy and dry and unsalted it seems. Chicken and waffles board was probably the worst chicken and waffles I've had, and all the sides that came with it seemed random as hell. We were excited to try a newish brunch spot out and to get a bottle of champagne for mimosas. Little did we know, that the mimosa would be the best part of the meal. This spot replaced a super crappy brunch buffet, that was one of the saddest buffets I've ever been to. Saw that they opened a new concept and saw that they advertised live DJs on sundays for brunch. So we decided to try it. We sat down and ordered the chicken and waffles platter and steak and salad plate. The chicken and waffle plate was really not that good, not a single item on the platter was good. Waffles, you can tell they tried to make it fancy, but just tasted weird and dry. The syrup, looks like they make in house also, not sweet enough and bland. The chicken was the least bland item out of everything, but it's not worth it at all. The steak was one of the chewiest, dry steaks I've had in a while also under seasoned, maybe even no salt. The chicken platter also had random items on it, that made no sense. Random sprigs of rosemary, marshmallow amongst other items. Nothing seemed to gel and it looked like they were just trying to fill the space with easy things. The mimosas that came with the chicken and waffles platter was the star of our meal. Honestly, I'd say it's hard to make food taste this bland and whatevers. With what they are charging, the steak shouldn't be dry and chewy, let alone not seasoned. Everything was under seasoned like we were in a cardiatric ward in the hospital. You can make better food following any recipe on YouTube. 2 stars for the mimosa and the server was very friendly, service wasn't anything to write home about though. Not busy at all, and a lot of workers just standing around. We didn't get checked on much throughout the meal. Oh and the valet was free at least.
