The shop had potential to be great. I ordered a pour over using a V 60. As a typical, they mentioned it would take a few minutes to make the coffee. Understanding that pour overs take some time I was fine with that. But after 10 minutes, no coffee I went to see what was going on. First, he had not even started the coffee. Then when I walked up, he had started making the coffee. About five minutes later I went back, surprised that the coffee was not done. I started talking to him and asking him. How long does it take to make his V60. He said about six minutes. I responded back kindly. That seems a bit long. They usually take 2 1/2 or three minutes. His response back was good coffee takes time to make. I said to him again that's actually a little bit on the wrong side. I got no further response from him. This is important for folks who understand good coffee. Or want good coffee this method is universally a three minute method at most and sometimes the shortest 2 1/2 minutes. Six minutes means you get a bitter cup of coffee. My coffee was a little bit on the bitter side. It wasn't bad. But with such high-quality coffee available from this roaster, it was very disappointed to see that I could not get an excellent cup. But just as important it shouldn't take 15 to 20 minutes to get a pour over a cup of coffee. My son was already done with his espresso based drink by the time my coffee came out. They kind of ruined the morning. I understand the timing will not be perfect, but this was egregious. read more

I was super excited to try this coffee shop on my last trip to NYC and wow the einspanner is the perfect treat. We stopped by after lunch and I knew the einspanner would be on the sweeter, richer side so we treated it more as dessert. It was the perfect blend of an roasty latte topped with the most decadent whipped cream. Easily my favorite coffee shop in NYC. Right around the corner from my hotel, this shop became a quick favorite of mine during my stay. The shop has decent seating, open and very clean. There are a few places to stand and enjoy your coffee as well. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable with recommendations to fit your tastes and wants. New to einspanners, I quickly fell in love with how good they were. The variety of Asian flavors offered was amazing! This place is interesting... a very basic aesthetic. Pictures make it look bigger than it actually is. Nothing about the seating makes you want to stay for a long time. They have two loungey type seats but they're near the bathroom so use at your own risk. I've tried the matcha einspanner and black cocoa. Both were solid drinks, I liked the einspanner more. Both were pricey. My only gripe was that the iced einspanner was pretty small and mostly ice. Tried one of their cloud desserts and it was meh, I'd skip it next time. I saw the Outside sign for a different daily drip coffee at this shop as I walked down third and returned on my way back to the office. The daily brew was a Colombian that my coworker opted for, and I went fancy and got the seasonal Matcha, which was a lovely blend of spices and sweet along with the Matcha flavor. And I also picked up a really well-made almond croissant that I split with coworkers for a little afternoon. Pick me up. The skill of the barista was a parent as they poured all types of different drinks. Cute little coffee shop in midtown east. There's not much seating but it's pretty minimalistic and aesthetic inside. They have lots of cool drinks and a small selection of pastries. Got the einspanner and holy shit the ESPRESSO CREAM IS SO MF GOOOD. This is the coffee for you if you lowkey hate coffee and only like it when it's superrrr creamy and sweet. But it's damn good. I will say portion sizes here are very small and especially for the steeep prices. The croffle was also good the cream was yummy and paired well. Such a good coffee spot! Met up with a friend at this location as it was easy for both of us to get to. The inside is a decent size with scattered seating. We grabbed two seats by the window but there were also seats low to the ground, as well as high-top sort of tables. I had the sweet potato iced latte and it was delicious! Great if you're not in the mood or if you just don't drink coffee. My friend had the dark chocolate iced latte and said hers was excellent, as well. The prices are a bit steep (with almond milk, my latte came to over $9) but for the options beyond the usual coffee and tea it's worth it. The staff could be a bit more pleasant. They were wandering around behind the counter and very abrupt when it came to taking orders. They also took a while for orders to be made when there was barely a crowd on a Saturday afternoon. Met a colleague for a work conversation and we were so glad we chose Ten Thousand Coffee. It's a clean aesthetic and not too noisy despite being quite busy. We scored two super comfortable seats in the back by the bathrooms (very clean) and the acoustics back there happened to amplify our voices so I could easily hear and be heard. I ordered the einspanner as it is their signature coffee drink and it was described as tiramisu but a coffee drink. A very appropriate description - dessert in a hot cup with whipped cream on top! A super splurge for sure.
