Had dinner there last night. I ordered hot tea and was at the right place at the right time. I saw the waitress sneezing right into the tea pot. When I confronted her she gave me a clean tea pot. I think it's a great place to come when you're undecided on what to eat - especially with a group of people who all want something different. There's something for everyone. Solid food for a solid price - especially in this economy! Service - I personally don't really care about service at a Chinese buffet - honestly - I just expect a drink and the check. This is a MUST GO! A+ Food and amazing service! I first came to Teppanyaki Seafood Grill & Sushi Buffet on New Years Eve in 2020 and I had an absolute amazing time and had some of the best Chinese food I had ever tasted! To get good of that quality and taste on a BUFFET is an even crazier occurance! I live about an hour from this buffet and that is one of the main reasons I never made the trip back up there until.... August 2024: I decided it was about time I try this buffet again and see if it was just a one time occurance or if they can keep up their track record on being the BEST Chinese Buffet and place to get Seafood in Eastern PA and NJ area. Everything I ate, which was a lot, was absolutely amazing and I was giving them A+ ratings! Only a few select items earned an A and maybe one B. The Seafood boil and the rest of the seafood options was absolutely amazing to find on a buffet for under $20! Sushi selection was big and everything tasted phenomenal and fresh. Although I didn't try the Hibachi, it looked absolutely delicious! The spare ribs were in my top 3 favorite items, the sauce was the best I've had in over 20 years! They've got General Tso's, Seasame, Pineapple, Peanut and even a few other chicken options, and all delicious! The Egg Roll was one the best and most flavorful I've had in a long time! Even the Mac & Cheese was amazing and put some American restaurants to shame! If you're a fish fan, the Red Snapper fish was really tasty and a must try! Gotta grab some ears of Corn on the Cob they were good too, and I recommend taking one from the Seafood Boil tray as you get some of that seafood taste! I went onto the fruit and desserts and they gave many many options! All the fruit was delicious and super fresh! The cantaloupe was my favorite and I have a new place in my heart for lychee! If you've never had it, Lychees are a tropical fruit that are native to China. The flavor is sweet, bits of citrus, but mostly tastes like a cross between strawberry and pear. The little chocolate cake with sauce on top was really really good too! And if you know me, you know I love Ice Cream, and they have both hard serve and soft serve!!! I just had to get some of each! Favorites had to be, cookies and cream, green tea, and the massive soft serve cone I had! I really can't speak highly enough about this place, two different trips, 4 years apart, and both were mind blowing and sent my taste buds through the roof! I want to go back already! If you're in the area or up for a quick trip please swing by and give them a try! I'd recommend going for dinner time, you'll probably get options similar to mine! I never write reviews, but after reading the other reviews, I felt the need to write one of my own. I have been coming here for over 10 years, and I have never had a bad experience. I have absolutely no idea what is behind the negative reviews, but don't listen to them. I generally do not like buffets, as I feel like they are quantity over quality. Well, that is far from the case at Teppanyaki. In fact, this is the only buffet I frequent to this day. They have extremely delicious food, somehow not expensing their quality, considering the wide variety of foods they offer. I always leave full and satisfied. I'm new to the area and forgot to check the Yelp reviews before ordering takeout. I ordered the roast pork egg foo yong and egg rolls. The egg rolls were fine but be forewarned, they're small. Then I dug into the egg foo yong, which was...ok. For the first 30 seconds. After a couple of bites, I realized there was a weird taste sensation going on, and not a good one either. Pulling apart the meal, I found it rife with peas and carrots! Who puts peas and carrots in egg foo yong?!?! They weren't fresh and hand cut either - they were straight out of the frozen food section with the little carrot cubes. I spent the rest of the meal trying to separate those nasty things out. Maybe I picked the wrong item? Maybe the lo mein is stellar? Idk. There seem to be plenty of other Chinese food spots around. I'll be moving on to another next time. read more

This is a very solid Chinese buffet. Don't be fooled by the name of this restaurant. It's not exactly a sushi buffet like Minado. The main food is all typical Chinese buffet food with a few extras such as fried potatoes and cheese pizza. It's located right next to the Regal Cinema and Stop & Shop grocery which is convenient. Do not eat here! My friends and I ate here got different things and are violently ill. I was hospitalized for food poisoning. My doctor said it was the worst he's seen. Food looked liked it had been sitting there for days, hair in my food. Ice cream was foaming. Rice was hard, chicken was cold and under cooked. On top of the food being horrible the store was a mess. Tables were dirty, smelt bad in the store. The ice cream area was gross looked like there was mold, I could be wrong, the soft serve machine was covered in dust and grime. I found a hair in my egg foo young, and it went down from there. Also piece of rice from previous customer was stuck inside of tea cup. No hoisin sauce. Dry Texas toast. Tasteless watermelon- gritty like it had been frozen. Half the food wasn't hot enough. A little hoisin sauce would have helped the rangoon. Corn had rotten spots on them - cook needs to be more attentive. Very little protein available for vegans/vegetarians. No tofu. Charge $1.50 per ordinary Chinese tea which is complimentary at many other places. Didn't mind the foam plates -wish there were foam cups for the tea. The long noodles were tasteless - a little hoisin sauce would have helped it a long way. Hoison sauce is a slightly sweet sauce with soy (sometimes scallions and ginger are added) that is put on the buffet table (or served by request), that really adds alot of flavor at little cost. My friend was disappointed in the shrimps - their lives were given in vain to be be served on that buffet table. He was disappointed there was no chocolate ice cream either. As he and I say - that's the last time we will go here. Many places have cut staff and quality since the pandemic - sadly because of this presumably we will not go back. read more

This rating takes into account the price you pay, and the food you get (for lunch at least). This place opened recently, replacing the other Chinese buffet that was open nearby (China Grill), but it seems it has the same owners, or at least the same workers. The price is the same for lunch at least (around $7) and the quality is much, MUCH better. They have a larger selection of food, sushi, and even have a hibachi chef to make stir fry. And mind you, for $7, it is a steal! The quality of the food is better than it was in China grill. My only gripe was that one of the fish platters looked good, but it tasted very bland. The sushi selection is very basic and nothing special, but they do have crab and seaweed salad, which you cannot go wrong with. The hibachi selection is very good, with all different meats, seafood, noodles, and vegetables to choose from. You would pretty much get your money's worth by just getting the hibachi. Dessert selection is good as well, which also includes a lot of fruits and hard ice cream to choose from. Since this place is new, it is very clean and the service was attentive. We shall see how this place will last in a few months. I still would have to try dinner and see if the food quality is increased with the price increase (dinner is only if I remember $10-$12!) read more

I'm a sucker for a good Chinese/American buffet. Sure, they can be hit or miss but I've always had a good experience at this one. The food on the buffet is always fresh and they have all of my favorite Chinese food (coconut chicken) as well as a variety of basic American food (macaroni and cheese, pizza, mashed potatoes). The seafood is always very good. I love the clams and believe it or not, the sushi too! This is probably the best buffet sushi I've had. Yeah, the bar is pretty low when it comes to buffet sushi, but I really like the options here. read more

Really lIke this place. For $25 for two adults, you can't beat the price! Such a huge selection of Chinese, Thai, and sushi plus American food like pizza and mozzarella sticks. Desserts were a little lacking but the chocolate fountain was delish. Yes some of the food was a little greasy but to be expected with Chinese. Everything seemed fresh (on a Friday night), and the large amount of customers means they're constantly putting out more food. Will definitely be back. Not sure why people complain about the wait staff, there were tons of staffs that were very attending at removing empty plates and getting drinks. I visited this place twice. The food is standard Chinese buffet fare with some elements of Japanese and Thai fusion. You would think with a name like Teppanyaki, the main fare would be "Japanese" with Chinese and Thai fusion. The atmosphere and decor certainly look Japanese, but the only Japanese food they present are the hibachi and sushi stations. The bathrooms are always clean with power hand dryers and nice hot water. Now let's talk food. If you are hungry and want to eat a lot and do not mind food that is hit or miss, this is the place to go. Admittedly, I must say, that some of their non-asian cuisine is pretty good. They have standard mac-n-cheese, fried chicken, BBQ ribs which are cooked and seasoned pretty well. But then you have appetizer foods like their stuffed mushrooms and stuffed clams, which look beautiful in presentation, but are in desperate need of seasoning. If you like seafood, especially crab, they offer snow crab legs, soft shell crabs and many crab stuffed appetizers like crab rangoon, which by the way seemed to have more cream cheese than crab, but tasty, none the less. My wife had a seafood fettuccine, which she had no complaints, and their fried shrimp is pretty good. I would like them to offer cocktail and tartar sauces as I do enjoy them with seafood; even finding a lemon wedge was difficult. Their wonton soup broth was decent, but they do not make fresh wontons, which I would not expect from a Chinese Buffet, but still, would have been a nice touch. Their hot and sour soup was good as well, but their egg drop soup is much like any other take out egg drop soup... thick, yellow, tasteless with egg whites. I tried the hibachi and it compared well to most food court Japanese food like Sarku. You can choose from rice, 2 types of noodles and chicken, beef or shrimp with a variety of veggies. I did not try the sushi... most of it wasn't labeled, so if you have allergies to certain sea foods, like I do, you may want to skip this area, like I did. On to desserts. They have a nice variety of fruits and pastries. But the think I liked most is that they offer hard ice cream with about a dozen flavors. Much better than that soft serve they offer at most buffets. I recommend the green tea and pistachio flavors. The ice cream is quality, and firm, like gelato. I would have given this place 3 stars if not for the service. While the wait staff is pleasant, the cashiers are quite rude and dishonest. I gave them a coupon for a $11.99 dinner and they took my coupon and rang it up as 10% off. It wasn't until I was home and looked at my receipt did I realize the difference (my wife and a friend were on the same bill). It could have been an honest mistake, but it makes you wonder. Overall, for a buffet the food is good, but like I said, some food there is hit or miss, as you can expect from most Chinese buffets. Although I will be the first to say buffets do not reflect what I consider fabulous dining, this place did leave me pleasantly surprised. I was immediately impressed by the fact they have a chocolate foundation upon entrance. There is never chocolate or anything great for dessert at buffets but a chocolate foundation?! Can we say, hello, hello! In terms of the selection, I was so pleased to see there was actually a lot of healthy options along with a massive seafood selection. I love seafood as I do not get to enjoy it on a regular basis so it was delightful to see they had so much seafood to offer! They also have a fairly decent sushi selection and a hibachi station which I guess is pretty standard these days for buffet places. Despite the awful reviews posted for this place, I stand behind my five star rating for the selection as it actually caters to the health conscious (it's not just a ton of greasy American food), expansive selection as they have something for everyone (hey, if greasy American food is your thing, who am I to judge?), and the lovely chocolate fountain (that in itself makes it worth the trip). We come here every time we have a big group gathering. One of the very few places we can all agree on as there are plenty of delicious dishes to choose from, you can't go wrong! Food is always fresh and tasty, some of my favorites are the raw clams, sushi and seafood -- so much seafood; shrimp cocktail, coconut shrimp, calamari, fried fish fillet, the list goes on. Dessert selection is also plentiful, go on weekends for their chocolate fountain, I go a little crazy there. This is the best buffet I've ever been to and I've been enjoying them all over NJ for years. Servers are friendly and refill tour drinks constantly. Your empty plates are cleared as soon as you get up to return to the buffet. It is very clean there which is so important now. I wish I could give 2.5 starts for this one. A 3 feels too high, but a 2 feels too harsh. Here's the scoop: Teppanyalki is owned by the same folks who ran China Grill a few doors down. China Grill was horrible. Dirty. Bad food. Ugly decor (not really decor, just crap from 1978). A few months ago, they bought a bigger place in the same strip mall and opened Teppanyaki. It's new, so it's much cleaner and better organized. Overall, the fool is still mediocre, even for Jersey, but for Phillipsburg, it's haute cuisine! Plenty of dishes to choose from (all mediocre and overcooked). Having said that, I do go back with the family about twice a month for 2 things: clams in black bean sauce and spicy crawfish. It's worth the $10 at dinner just to load up on crawfish and clams. Oh, and the chocolate fountain is a nice treat for the kids. Ok the new place is huge and lots of choices. It was was very busy on a tuesday evening. I can only tolerate Asian buffet once in a while and not really keen on buffets but some folks love them and get there moneys worth!! Only $10 for dinner. I actually thought the sushi was better than the average buffet. Most everything that I tried was a little bland, even the General Tso's chicken! I can see where the chocolate fountain would appeal to some but I found it disgusting with children playing in it unsupervised....also self serve ice cream is gross!! I have been going to this buffet for the last four years and have never been disappointed. The food always looks good, smells good, not greasy and plentiful. I'm a seafood person and simp!y love the coconut shrimp and fried catfish, along with everything else. The vegetables, especially the string beans, have an excellent taste. I try to do take-out at least once a week, but when I do eat in, enjoy the hibachi and sushi. The staff is always pleasant and the restaurant clean. They continually keep the food area supplied with fresh hot food as well as a clean food counter area and floor. Will continue to be a patron. read more

This Chinese buffet is okay. The food is usually on the warm side. I wouldn't recommend the sushi though. Last time I went the salmon was rotten. It smelt like it's been sitting there all day.
