When I go again, I will probably get the garlic and hot sauce. I would've liked a bit of a kick with it. But like others have said, the garlic sauce is to die for. excellent arepas with the most friendly staff. I walked in there minutes before closing and ordered a beef and a chicken salad arepa. These are filled very nicely with yummy fillings. I am mexican so I am always looking for spicy which these lacked, however they were still tasty. I also got the lemonade with cane juice, man that was good and satisfying. I will return soon. Excellent service, excellent food. As much as I love venturing into Minneapolis for good eats, this place is only a 8 minute drive from my place in the west suburbs. I have been their twice and have had the Pabellón, beef empanada, yuca fries, and their fresh fruit smoothies (guava and papaya). I rate a place almost always by the meat, as I have found places to lack in flavor and moisture. Their shredded beef is absolutely amazing with enough salt and aroma to keep me coming back for more. My insider resources told me they make their shredded beef every day in the morning, so it is not even beef made from the day before that has been cooled and reheated. Grabbed some food to go yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. It was my first time having this type of food. While I liked almost everything, the one thing I didn't enjoy where the yuka fries. They just weren't for me. The empanada was really good. Something I'll easily order again. The arepa I had was the pork and tomato. To me, it needed something to add some more flavor. It wasn't bad, just needed something more. The garlic sauce was great and went well with everything. With that said, I was pleased to find an arepa spot not too far from my office. I was planning on stopping here before my flight back home today. I came with a coworker who was a bit skeptical because it was authentic Venezuelan cuisine. No exaggeration we waited 27 minutes to get our food and only had three people ahead of us in queue. Although they weren't stoked in about 1/3 of their food (see the coming soon sign), I was impressed with their arepas (had the 106) and empanadas (shredded beef). What killed us, however, was the terrible turnaround time from order to service. The main guy was apologetic about the wait, but it's always that way from what I understand. More often than not, shredded meat is dry but not here! These sandwiches with the white cheese were delicious. Garlic sauce is amazing and don't be afraid, it's not very garlicky, it's just so flavorful. Everything is gluten free if you care but who cares when it tastes this good. A friend and I went to this place on a whim. The location is a tiny space in the middle of a strip mall, wedged between a Salon and Yoga Studio on one side and a Seattle Sutton on the other. It is fairly easy to see from the road but a little tricky to get to -- you hae to pay attention or you'll have to go past it and circle back to get to it. Once there, you'll find a small place with maybe 9 or 10 two-person tables. Its pretty small inside. Service is good, but you'll have to wait as each order is made on-demand. The quality of the food is what is special here. I've had arepas from Holy Arepa food truck, and these were right up there in terms of quality -- they were well-cooked, with a crispy, crunch outside, and a soft middle, not at all greasy. The same can be said for the delicious empanadas. The fillings were excellent quality, all of them were tasty, whether the cheeses, black beans, or meats. My colleague is a picky eater, and enjoyed both the arepa (Pabelion) and the empanadas (chicken, beef, White cheese, and black beans+white cheese). This is my favorite place to grab a cheap, tasty lunch in the EP. Luckily, I know how to get here easily, because my GPS never works in Eden Prairie and I end up getting lost EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Coming here my favorite thing to get is a domino empanada. Black beans and queso fresco together surrounded by crispy, yet soft empanada dough. Ohhh, yes. You get two to an order and somehow that's all you need. I wanted to try the yucca fries because they are something ridiculously cheap like $1.50 for a big order. Skip them, though - they're forgettable and are really just a vehicle for their green garlic sauce. THAT GARLIC SAUCE, THO! Okay, this stuff is dangerous in a lot of ways. 1. Because it's so f***ing delicious but 2. Because it's POTENT. It's so garlic-y, it's spicy. I swear that this sauce must be made almost entirely of pureed garlic cloves. And I'm totally okay with that because YUM. This spot may not be as good as Hola Arepa but I see that as a good thing. This place is far more authentic. These are the arepas you would get on the street in your favorite South American city. Where at HOla Arepa one doesn't feel like quite enough this place one is more than plenty. The arepa is the size of your fist and only $8 with a ton of filling. I got the 106. It had: black beans, pulled pork, cheese and plantains. Oh my. I work right down the road from here. I'm a little upset with myself that I didn't come here sooner. But it might be best for my booty and my wallet that I didn't. But now the cat is out of the bag. I suggest you take this to go. The place is tiny. Seats maybe 12 comfortably. The staff is super nice and helpful. I had to ask what to get since there were so many options. The guy at the desk told me his favorite but then said most people get the 106. He also would not let me leave without an extra garlic sauce. Soooo good. Very simple creamy sauce that compliments the flavors of the beans, sweetness of the plantain and the richness of the pork. Next time I'm here though I will try the salsa. if everything else is so good the salsa must be tasty. Can't wait to come back and bring my co-workers. The place is pretty small, with about 8 tables, but has a crazy huge menu. We stopped for lunch on a Saturday and we got a Pabellon Arepa, Pollo Burrito and Carne Mechada Empanadas. Now what surprised me was the portion size, smaller than what I had envisioned, but it was PACKED with ingredients and FLAVOR! The burrito was flavor packed and didn't skimp on the ingredients either...it was the size of a football...literally! Went here after reading the reviews on Yelp and have no regrets! Arepas are really good. Hubby had #6 and I had the vegetarian #17. Both were good, nice flavours, the bread/bun was something we never had before, it was soft and a little chewy at the same time. Flavours were good, though I ended up putting a bit of hot sauce and garlic which made it very sumptuous. Yuca fries are nice and crispy. Do get both the sauces along with your food. We also had one guava smoothie and a Papaya milkshake. Both were execellent. Would definitely come back to try other stuff! The Pabellon while good didn't have that Oh My Gosh in your face goodness that the ratings suggested. It was good, but the wrap was a bit heavy, the chicken was sparse with limited seasoning and the black beans were like they just came out of the can. No seasoning . . . The Yuca was cooked quite well, and the pieces were plentiful and very large. No complaints here. I was tempted to get something else, but just couldn't bring myself to it. It seemed like I would get something that was just "good", not really good or great. The other disappointment was that they didn't have entrees. The owner said that they would maybe have something in a few weeks, but nothing now. I've eaten Venezuelan in other cities and loved it. What I loved about those locations was the entrees and all the different favors, the spices beans, the plantains, etc. I'm sure this place will continue to have success, but they have a way to go to deserve the rating they somehow seemed to obtain. read more
