Honestly these had to the worst tacos I've ever tried. I'm pretty sure the fish had to be fish sticks, they were so dried up. You can only taste the vinegar there was no levels of flavor. Service was average, I never send things back so I didn't. One rule you don't come out to try just to send it back. But on the other hand to not ask if I liked it or enjoyed my meal when I didn't even eat an entire taco? The mimosa was great though. Overall experience could have been better.

We stumbled upon this location and what a find! Loved the warm ambience and Latin artwork. Service by Samael was exceptional. His recommendations were excellent. We enjoyed the halibut with bok choy and crispy potatoes. The chicken tortilla soup had the most delicious broth. Al pastor tacos and fish tacos were super tasty. The shrimp moqueca was beautifully presented in a hot pot with fresh avocado salsa. Each sauce was complex and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a gem of Latin cuisine in Anchorage. If I lived here, I would visit often.

First time trying this place so I went to reviews and looked at some good pics and the Molcajete stood out for sure! This is located not even 2 sec walk away from the Hilton hotel. I usually wouldn't eat Mexican food in Alaska those two don't really go together in my brain being from California but I wanted to give it a try anyway lol I ordered the Cilantro Shrimp Molcajete and some chips and salsa on the side. First I will say I don't see why certain restaurants charge for chips and salsa it should be free in my opinion. The salsa lacked flavor and was more sweet than anything. (I asked for the spiciest salsa they have) and the order was $8.. I get it for the size I was surprised but that salsa wasn't good. Moving on to the main dish tho we have the Molcajete which was really good in my opinion. It came out SIZZLING! and the size of it wasn't what I was expecting. So if you're hungry I would def get one of those entrees ! The flavor of the fajita mix was good and the amount of shrimp you get was super filling. That dish was about $38 with the shrimp. The bartender was nice and asked me if I was doing okay a few times and also made sure my water was filled which was great he seemed really knowledgeable of all the good food recommendations and was pretty quick with service so employees were cool ! All in all I enjoyed my early dinner in a nice place that played good Latin music and I liked that it's walking distance from my hotel. I would eat here again one day and try some of their tacos next because I hear they are pretty good. I would say they need to just make the chips free because the are NOT worth $8 lol like at all but other then that decent place.

We loved our dinner here! The tequila selection is great, the food is fresh, and the staff are super friendly. The crab was a TOUCH overdone which normally wouldn't be a big deal but its current market price is $175 in the restaurants. But overall, a great spot. I very much loved the queso and my rockfish tacos.

This was a nice quiet restraunt with options we wouldn't expect to see on the menu. The food was good and we had really good service. If you are looking for a restraunt that is good but different, come and try this one.

Really nice set up on the inside. Everything seems to have recently been updated. Great drink menu with a heavy nod to tequila drinks. Nice, open bar area. They have what looked to be a good brunch menu. We didn't eat, just had drinks. Server was attentive. If you're looking for a higher end Mexican restaurant in the area, would recommend.

I've been to Tequila 61 twice, and both visits were memorable. The restaurant looks fantastic. It's clean, stylish, and has a high-end feel that makes you excited to sit down and eat. The decor works really well, but I found the branding a bit confusing. The menu leans heavily on Mexican flavors, but the restaurant doesn't really call itself a Mexican place, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. On my first visit, I had the duck confit tacos with an Eddie's Tropical drink. The tacos were amazing, tender and full of flavor, and the drink was perfectly balanced. On my second visit, I got the rockfish tacos. They were tasty but way too spicy for me, which took away from the flavor. We also tried guacamole and queso fundido on both visits. The guac was solid, nothing fancy but good. The queso fundido is super cheesy and greasy, and once it cools down, it's tricky to eat. I've learned my lesson there. Service was mixed. The first visit, our server was okay. The second time, the server was excellent, very friendly and attentive. Both visits we had reservations and were seated right away, even during tourist season, which was a nice surprise. Overall, Tequila 61 is a beautiful spot with some standout dishes. The duck confit tacos are a must-try. Some dishes could use a little work, but the atmosphere, drinks, and high-end feel make it worth a visit. Just watch out for the spice and maybe share the queso fundido with a few friends.

Tequila 61 is an attractive restaurant with friendly, knowledgeable staff and good food. We enjoyed a shared tequila flight (a little pricey), some chips and salsa (not complimentary) and a side of guacamole before we ate our entrees. We enjoyed tacos and a fish salad in addition to some margaritas that were overly sweet but that did the job. The side of rice and refried beans was unmemorable and comparable to what I make in my home kitchen. Overall Tequila 61 created a pleasant dinner experience for the area but not anywhere near to a great Mexican food experience by National standards. For the price, I expected more developed flavors but I would recommend this restaurant.

Besides this, everything else was great so I did not deduct any stars. Let me explain. We were a party of 4 and just arriving from NY, we were hungry. We walked in at about 4:30-4:45. We asked for a table for 4. We were told the wait will be over an hour. They asked if we would like to sit at the bar area, same food and probably would get service quicker. I said sure. We both want to look for a table and there were none, so I just told the staff that we will go to the bar area and wait while having a drink. We were given a buzzer. We came across a Maria bar table with a nice couple sitting there, and 2 open seats. I asked if we could sit there and they said of course. They then Deb moved over 2 seats arguing gave us 4 seats. I was do thankful for them being so nice that I picked up their bar tab. I noticed that the dining area has at least 5 open tables for 4 and 1 for 6+. I went up to the desk and told them this. I was told they were fit reservations and I couldn't have a table. Long story short, 45 min went guy and there were still open tables, I E's not happy and let them know. By this time though, our waiter Marco cans over to us and said he would take care of us, which he did. I told the front desk to forget our table and have them the buzzer back. ** My review starts*** Marco was a great waiter taking excellent care of us. We had a great time with Marco and our new friends next to us. I ordered the halibut stuffed with crab which was outstanding. My wife ordered the salmon which was delicious as well, I particularly enjoyed the crispy skin of the salmon, yum!!! Our friends ordered the fried calamari which he enjoyed and his wife had the salmon over a Ceaser salad. To finish it off, I had to get the lava cake for dessert.....hey, why not, I'm in vacation lol! Everything was great, the food delicious, Super Marco s the best!!! Great service and a great time. Just a shame it didn't start off on the right foot. Lesson: make a reservation!!!!!
