They sent me to the main location across from H1 from one of the others with a handprinted notice to get a facial at that location. When I arrived, the lady at the desk was, with lots of eye rolling and big sighs, telling another lady that she can't get her gel nails removed because, "We aren't allowed to do that." The lady was annoyed but left. So I walked up and politely asked the reception lady how she was to which she rolled her eyes again and shook her head. I then requested the next opening for a facial. Another sigh, "We don't do facials. We've never done facials." As I was turning to leave, I see their sign offering nail services and guess what? Their own sign sitting 2 inches from her hand had several gel services on it! To top it all off, as I was walking away another lady came in and asked how her day was...yet another giant sigh before telling the lady that no one ever asks HER about her day. Correction: although I was lead to believe facials were available at the main location, the handwritten notice stated Full Service Spa. It did not specify facials. read more

I ran into Terminal Getaway Spa by chance at O'Hare airport in Chicago and I must say that I had one of the best massage experiences ever! From the moment I met the front desk lady, I was simply impressed by her knowledge and service to entice me to try a deep tissue massage. Mind you, I'm a hairstylist so I use my body A LOT and needed some extra pressure on my arms. I then met my massage therapist Angel... Now let me tell you about my main man Angel... this dude has MAGIC for hands! For a 20min chair massage, it felt like I was dipped in gold and like 40 pounds lighter afterwards. I can't recall the name of the man who gave me a 60 min massage, but it was honestly very skillful and helped my pain a LOT! I had low expectations for an airport but honestly it was really good. The room had a kind of gross part on the ceiling that looked dirty but was probably a prior leak and the room smelled a little musky. That made me uncomfortable at first and made me wonder about cleanliness but I inspected the table upon leaving and felt confident it was clean enough. Was thinking of removing a star for that but the massage itself should have gotten 6 stars so it evened out, lol. Of course a bit pricey but for the pain I was in it was worth it. I have had a not so great 24 hours of (what seems to be becoming more of a normal thing than not!) delays and rebookings. So here I sit in the Chicago O'Hare airport. With way too much time to kill. My bag actually making the flight that I missed! (Don't ask!) And so I walk the B terminal, and what I see is the Terminal Gateway Spa! Oh yeah! I have a wedding to go to, literally tomorrow. In California! So yes, back in the plane again it seems. And while I sit here in the Chicago airport with some time to kill...I'm gonna get me a pedi! They have a lovely setup, bench chairs with foot basins, mani stations and also a full array of massage. Cause let's face it, who doesn't need some personal care-time when traveling! I had a lovely lady, Irina, who was gentle and thorough. She asked me about water temperature which I appreciate as I tend to like it a bit cooler than most. I waked it and stood at the desk for at least 2 minutes while two of the masseuses talked socially to each other and a "receptionist" stayed playing with her nail polishes before even acknowledging me and never saying hello. Paid $25 up front, which seemed fair (photo below shows my nails after 5 days - still in good shape). The woman at the front desk (I assume a manager?) was very friendly and seemed to have a good rapport with the staff. Galena was my nail tech - she was LOVELY, easy to talk to and did a great job. Had a massive two day travel delay at ORD. Typical. Was at the last gate and decided to look for spa services in terminal. They do have a mini back massage only location near the last gates but I thought a mani would be best for my next two weeks of work travel. Best decision I made that day. It was a Saturday around 3:30. The spa is airside by tsa. So it was a bit of walk back to front. I approached desk inquiring about availability for a mani. They have me a time to comeback which was only 10 minutes later. The manicurist was great. Two other clients were waiting on their nails to dry, and complying there was no hand dryer for regular polish. *take note. If you get a regular polish mani you'll prob have to use a dryer in the ladies or gents. My nails were a mess, so anything the manicurist could do would be better. She opened fresh opened packaged sanitized tools and got to work. Very thorough and gentle. No cuts or pain. Bonus. I ended up getting no chip gel because of the color, a vibrant turquoise. Even better decision because no extra drying necessary and the impending wear and tear of travel on said nails. This was probably one of the best manicures I have ever had. Polish was perfect. No messy cuticles or overlap, and it lasted for two weeks!!!! Fabulous!!! read more

My nail tech was Oryslava - she did a wonderful job on both my pedicure and gel manicure. She was very thorough in removing calluses and cleaning up the cuticles and she shaped my nails very nicely. Things I observed when I was there: -All customers, including massage clients, were taken, unless there was already someone ahead of them, in which case, they were offered a later appointment. -massage tables were wiped down each time after customer use -none of the staff talked poorly about clients -front desk staff was fine, everyone seemed nice and accommodating. Two weeks in a row, I have tried to get a thirty minute massage. I have been unsuccessful on both occasions. 1.) Either someone from shop is late, and everyone is standing around and complaining Or 2.) The next visit is late... Did I say they had only nail customers both times. In a time when every on-time paying customer counts... you should jump on the opportunity to service those people in front of you. Get excited. Contrary to other reviews, the two ladies at the front desk were very nice. My nails were in an atrocious state after a 2 week vacation. 5 hour layover on the way home so decided to try this place out. Prices are high, but you're at the airport. I sprung for the deluxe manicure ($45) because it mentioned hand and arm massage. I got a super brief hand massage, no arm massage. My nails have rough patches on the ends from the filing. I'll need to redo since they are snagging on things. She nipped my cuticle and it took a while to stop bleeding. The color is nice. The lady doing my nails was very nice. With the deluxe you also get to pick a bottle of OPI polish to take home and you get a bottle of water. I wasn't expecting a lot, so I was fine with how things turned out (I've been nipped before at much pricier nail salons). read more
