My husband and I went to get manicures and pedicures and spent 15 minutes trying to make it work with the receptionist while 4 people from the salon sat and watched. Great chair massages, with options of either Swedish or deep tissue at any time interval. Professional and courteous staff, clean location, but limiting to four stars due to price and the probably unavoidable noise from the airport terminal. Noise doesn't detract terribly from the experience, however, and they DO offer a military discount to active service members at the very least to offset the price should that apply to you. Talk about terrible customer service! I had a bad experience here recently which was impacted by the terrible service at both of their locations near H1 and H6. First, I go to H6, their express service area-massage only, look at the menu and staff tell me they have a full service spa at H1 so I decide to check it out. At H1 the guy at the front doesn't even greet me, instead he says to me "our next available is at 11:00am." Ok. So i look at the menu and decide I don't want to wait for a massage so i ask of they can call their H6 location to see if they can see me right away. The other spa says they can see me right away and take my name. I walk back and they tell me they can see me at 11:05. What!? I just called and they said they could see me. They said someone else showed up in the less than five minutes it took me to walk there so they saw them first. No apologies, no sign of remorse, or acknowledgement of inconvenience. So I eat lunch and then decide to try the full service spa again since my back was really in pain. Management apologized and the massage was great. Got an extra five minutes because of the incident above. Glad they made things right! Would have rated higher if it weren't for the service issues. read more

After a long flight and before my connection I was going to get a chair massage. They said they closed at 9:30 but didn't have any more openings. Looking around the place EMPTY. The clerk was stocking and very obviously not wanting any more business so they could go home right at 9:30. Based on this level of service I won't be going back. This review is for the location near H6. The lady was clearly doing nothing except ignoring people when I walked up. When i finally got her attention i asked about a 20 minutes Swedish chair massage. She said she www waiting on someone but I could sign up for 2 pm. (This was at 12:57). I signed up but also asked that if the other person didn't show up if I could come back and and what time; she said 1:15. Another Lady came up as I was leaving and asked if she was booked up I didn't leave as I was waiting just 15 minutes... the lady paid for a massage aNd proceed to sit down and get a massage. I went back to the desk and confronted the clerk... she told me that was the lady she was waiting for... so she flat out lied to me. I will NEVER go to a Terminal Gateway Spa and will let as many people as possible know how they treat customers.... and I get a massage at every airport I travel through every week. I will gladly let the competition know as well how this experience went so that they can learn from it. read more

The only reason this gets 2 stars is that the manicurist was very nice. I had a chair massage and it was horrible. Basically the chair is right in front of a gate, so zero privacy or screening from a couple hundred people. Then the massage was just painful. I wanted it to stop. The chair was uncomfortable. The manicurist was very pleasant, but my gel manicure lasted 3 days before it started peeling off. Usually I get 2 weeks + out of a gel manicure. I went to this place to kill time. It was overpriced and the massage was unpleasant. Just skip it. Go burn $150 at the shops or something. read more

Start with this tip: call ahead for a reservation. This was my first visit and it never occurred to me that an airport spa would take them, but they do. Luckily for me, they "fit me in" for a pedicure. You could tell that she had no interest whatsoever in dealing with customers. I stood waiting for her to acknowledge me in any way, with no response. I came here to redo my French manicure while waiting for my next flight. The prices are pretty high and the quality is not that good. Also the front desk was manned by someone lacking basic manners. Although they have OPI products, that doesn't make up for the poor skill of the manicurist. Even though my old French manicure had some chips that I had repaired with white polish, the old manicure was still better than the new one! My manicurist consistently missed the left side of my nails, even though I had to keep pointing it out to her. Also despite her trying to straighten it out multiple times, the line was not quite straight. There are no nail dryers, and instead they have you wait for 5 minutes then spray your nails with some quick drying material. It left a weird sheen on my nails that I can't say I like. She had also clipped my skin a little weird and when I pointed it out, she thought it was polish and kept trying to use acetone to make it go away. Please learn the difference between skin and polish. That said, she was responsive when I told her to fix things, and she worked on it without complaining. I don't think I would do this again. Update: nails chipped pretty badly after 2 days. read more

I got a Swedish massage from Olga and was very impressed. She knew what to focus on. I just flew in from Hawaii overnight and had a headache and nausea from trying to sleep in the plane. After working on some pressure points in my neck, my symptoms were suddenly gone. I will definitely come back if I have a layover here again in the future. The place is very clean and a bit of quiet and calm at crazy crowded O'Hare. I had a flight delay and decided to get a pedicure. The pedicure itself was very good as far as the soak, cuticle removal, scrub, and massage, etc, and the lady was very nice and very gentle. However, the polish removal was horrible and the paint job was horrible. I can still see some of the old polish she didn't get peeking out, and the polish job is sloppy. I know you pay extra at the airport for everything, but this would have been $20 or $30 cheaper elsewhere and a better job. read more

A 5 for my massage therapist and a 2 for the admin staff. The massage therapist at gate H6 was the only staff there. She told me it will be a 40-60 min wait but didn't tell me there's another spa at gate H1. I found the second spa. There the admin wouldn't let me sit down & read while I waited for 5-10 minutes. There were lots of unused stools but I couldn't bring one over to the waiting wall. I had to stand there. The explanation "It's against our policy." Worst massage I have ever received. The therapist essentially used a tool to poke at me for a deep tissue massage. I asked if she could use her forearms or elbows or even her hands and she said no that it is too painful and she can't use her body only the tool. If the therapy is not effective then it may be time to switch professions. I ended the massage early. Very very disappointed. read more

I have to echo what others have said about delayed appointments. Stopped by at 3:45, next appointment after 5 says the receptionist. Okay, 5:15 then? No, after 5...? isn't 5:15 after 5? No, say receptionist, 5:30 is next appointment. Okay, leave to have early dinner and walk around. Arrive at 5:20, manicurist is doing her own nails. Turn on water for pedicure/manicure. Hot water, no cold--very brief soak because of this--extremely brief massage as in almost none. Quick pedicure and polish, ' do you want a manicure?" Yes--that's why I made an appointment. Manicure okay, pleasant enough person but $75.00 for a meh mani-pedi ($20.00 more than local neighborhood place with far less service). read more

After a 4 day intense work summit, I couldn't wait to have a 30 minute chair massage at Terminal Getaway Spa. Not the one that seems to be garnering some negative feedback, but the smaller location near the H gates in terminal 3, near Starbucks and H6. I booked directly at the desk and they got me right in. Anthony was my masseuse and he was wonderful. Firstly, he has just grabbed an ice coffee and was on break. He left his coffee to become watered down to give me a massage without making me wait. I would have waited, but they wanted to give me top service. Secondly. It was a wonderful massage. He was highly skilled. It felt therapeutic and relaxing. I almost fell asleep. I wanted to stay for another hour. I heard the gentleman in the chair next to me asking his masseuse when she is available later that day because his massage was incredible too and he was gonna come back! My sister had her nails done here-great service with the nail tech. My complaint is that I came back to get my sister (prob would of had to wait 10 mins) and the manager or the lady in charge yelled at me and said there is no waiting area and I had to leave-so I did. Terrible expensive experience. Painfully scaring pedicure which I agreed a refund for. I was willing to pay for other services I received but the Mani pedi twas so bad and painful I wanted credit back. I had to ask me credit company for help and they were told the same thing. Due to the fact service was rendered they would not refund any portion!!!! Horrible customer service and service provided. It's been a month and I still have pain and issues with toes, thankfully fingers have recovered. The infection of toes has made it so I haven't been able to get a pedicure since and this occurred in July. They absolutely should have refunded service specific to injury and infection. read more

I am not sure what the legal qualifications are for a massage therapist in Illinois but this location has really unqualified therapists. I started with a therapist for 30 minutes Swedish massage. She tried to just rub my back, not a massage. I asked her to switch to Deep Tissue as I would like more pressure. She basically does the same lame rub. I asked to switch therapists. The 2nd one thinks digging both elbows into my back is Deep Tissue. For $55/66 for 30 minutes, this place is so not worth it. read more
