The General Manager Caroline made a promise to call me at 9am. After 20 minutes of Caroline crying about being over worked and underpaid. I told Caroline it's not my problem. Since I was tired of listening to this I helped her out by not renewing my termite contract. Caroline was actually happy she lost me as a customer. The phone technician was very clear to me regarding what pest he suspected. He did not try to oversell services. We are selling our house, so we were only doing due diligence to the property before we list it for sale. The technician arrived within the agreed timeslot at the beginning of the timeslot. We were told that we could have them come out to spray again if we see the pests within the next 30 days. After the services we were sent a report card, of sorts, along with pictures which indicated the spaces treated and findings of pests in the treated area. Very pleased. read more

We Have a termite protection plan for my home with them and after their recent yearly inspection I reviewed footage from my exterior cameras and their technician only checked 2 of the 33 termite bate stations and spent 10 minutes sitting in his truck out from. They are supposed to check 65% of the stations so that should have required inspection of 17. The technician only checked 2 and these were pictured in his report. This violates the contract I have with this Terminex franchise and shows a total lack of integrity and trustworthiness. I am canceling my service plan with them and I would recommend you pass this company by when looking for pest control for your home. read more

Take your chances with Terminix. Had a bird caught in my range exhaust port and called them for service. Was told a technician would come out yesterday between 3/5pm. No one did. Called them to confirm if someone was still coming and was told that the technician was running late and that he would call me shortly. Never did. Called the next morning and asked if my service call was still in the system and they just kept transferring me from one call taker to the next asking me what I needed. I am definitely fed up with this BS. Never using Terminix again. Poor customer service and you get a 50/50 chance of a technician actually responding or a customer service rep actually answering your questions without transferring you a dozen times. read more

Our family has experienced unrealized customer service commitments, perceived ineffective leadership by Mr. Link (Branch Manager), numerous round abouts with no resolution in customer service contacts, remaining mice infestation, costs of eating out and medical challenges because of poor service performance of the Terminix Manassas, VA location, and the challenges of never being provided Mr. Link's Regional Director's phone number. So over $6K for marginal service and our personal frustrations, numerous Terminix visits to correct service challenges here at our home in Fredericksburg, VA, and the seemingly intentional and deliberate deceptive operation to discuss with Terminix Customer service to gain a satisfactory resolution, I highly recommend that anyone who might be analyzing a business transaction with Terminix carefully read reviews, discuss with prior clients, and determine your subsequent course of action. I am about to cancel my service due to the incompetence of this service provider. I have had two service calls for my bait system to be serviced, and both times they failed to service all the units. Today I waited all day for a tech who was scheduled to come out, Rory, and no tech and no call. No wonder they have such a low rating. Worst service I've ever had the displeasure of receiving. Save your money and go elsewhere as there are PLENTY of good pest control services out there. Highly disappointed! Update. Different tech came out the following day, Robert, and acted irritated with us, and told us the reason for the delay in coming back out was due to lack of managerial approval on our bait containers. When we talked to the supervisor, Parker, he didn't mention anything about this, and to be quite honest it doesn't sound legit. This is the second year in a row we've had issues with getting all our bait systems serviced correctly, and quite frankly, you wrong me once shame on you....you wrong me twice, shame on me. We were Terminix customers for 3-4 years. In the first year, we reported hearing noises in our attic and our HVAC installers confirmed attic mice. Contacted Terminix (our termite and pest control company) and they dispatched one of their professionals and "took care of the issue" (nope). A few years later, we reported the issue again. This time one of their "inspectors" shows up - enters the attic comes down with this "grim" look on his face and says. "Bad news". You've got (huge surprise - nope) mice in your attic and it's a big problem. We'll need to do attic remediation." The cost (with a 20% discount because we were longtime loyal customers) $11,000! I decide to get a second opinion (and estimate) - Another termite/ pest control company shows up - confirms the need for attic remediation but surprised to hear we have an "existing" pest control company that never requests entry into the house to check for mice, bed bugs, etc. Now the moment... how much - more than $3,000 less for the same service and more. I figure "time to switch to another pest/ termite company". I contact Terminix at the beginning of the "renewal period" (1/11) and request service termination. Customer service rep offers to have a "supervisor" call me to find out if there's an opportunity to maintain our business. I say "cancel the service - you're welcome to have a supervisor call me". Associate says I'll receive a call the following week but the service is cancelled. No calls from a "supervisor" but the service isn't cancelled either. I call back on 2/5 to understand why I'm receiving pesky calls, emails and mailers requesting payment. Trecia confirms cancellation and apologizes for billing not yet taking final action to close the account but she assures me it's all taken care of. The next day I get another nasty text - this time threatening credit bureau repercussions. I reply to the text informing of the past 2 phone calls, cancelling the service. Text response apologizes and promises to close the account. 2/8 I receive another pesky phone call regarding payment. I inform the associate of the actions to cancel the service. He confirms "oh yeah - that shows here in our system. We'll get this taken care of." (Nope). multiple communications beyond that one with one of them guaranteeing my account had been tagged as "cancelled, closed, do not call/ contact" (nope). I have since secured written correspondence from Terminix customer service stating "Your service cancelled and account in the process of being closed. You have no balance and should ignore all communications regarding this account." Poor service. Poor results. Horrible customer service. Strong-arm tactics to coerce continued service. They charge me every month even though i have stopped payment on the account. They call every day for months looking for payment for a service I have not received for months. I finally paid and still no service. They keep telling me I pay every month and only get service quarterly. THEY SPRAYED INSECTICIDE IN MY DOGS FACE! The service man sprayed on everything. Prior to start of service I asked him if I needed to move anything in the house away from the walls or countertop to prep for him, and he said no. As he was spraying I noticed he was getting around areas were the dog's food bowl was and sprayed on everything else, such as my husbands back pack and other home items. I attempted to pull the dog crates (my dogs were crated during the service) away from the wall while he was working his way over to that area. I couldn't move them in time. He sprayed right in front of my dogs face with a burst cloud of insecticide. When I called Terminix the repetitiveness told me that should not have happened, and then transferred me to the manager at local office that was responsible for my service. The branch manager said "That I have nothing to worry about." He then said that he will talk to the technician, and tell him that "I am sensitive about that." I am way more than sensitive about it. This service technician was completely unprofessional, and performed unsafe application of the product. I called the national number again to explain my experience with the local manager. I spoke to same representative from my initial call and he said that if the manager said I have nothing to worry about than I shouldn't be worried, but call back if I suspect any illness in my dog. I made a third call, still not satisfied, to obtain a material data sheet to give to my veterinarian, and spoke to another representative. She was shocked how the entire thing was handled and explained how the service is supposed to be preformed such as no people, pets, or children should be in the area of treatment. The work order she provided me explicitly states the precautions that are to be taken when application is performed. The service technician did not utilize any of the application safety measures. In the end I am left with nothing about worry for my dog and massive cleaning of all the things that should have never been hit with spray. read more

Sadly, after years of being a customer of terminix they have lost our business. After having an issued with mice, we had to have our attice completely cleaned out and reinsulated. The stepped on a light while in our attic, left muddy tracks through our home and on the white bathroom rugs, left insulation covering our clothes in the closet, dirt all over the floors and room, and rummaged through my jewelry. We have reached out via phone, email, and text with minimal response. The cost is higher than other companies but we chose them because we had trusted they would do a great job. We are not sad we did because we have more work and cleaning to do now that they are done. read more

This is the first company that we called after locating termite damage. James came out and did a very poor job of doing a thorough inspection. I doubt that he even went into the crawl space. He only stated that we needed a foam injection at the area that we showed him in a bedroom. Another company came out and found several areas in the crawlspace that indicating that there was a more widespread issue. Also the other company let us know about the very high humidity issue in the crawlspace that needed attention right away. Do not recommend!! read more

Here is today's experience. A technician called and left a message after 6 pm last night he would be coming to complete our annual inspection today. Then, I get a text message this morning that he is on his way. I message back saying I have not scheduled an appointment and this time does not work for me. The technician calls me. I reiterate I am not available this morning for Terminix to come do the annual inspection. He then tells me he will still come do the outside inspection, and I can call to schedule a time for him to come back for the interior inspection. Ok, fine. THREE MINUTES after that phone call, I receive a text message with "rate my experience" and that my inspection has been completed. WHAT A JOKE. I am still home. Noone came. He merely marked that he came and did an inspection and did not. If you really want insurance to ensure you do are preventing termites, find another company. read more

When the tech came out he said he couldn't do anything until exclusion work is done and would let his manager know so they could schedule the work. Never heard from anyone. I've been trying for three weeks to get a raccoon removed from my attic and they still have not catches him. They put one trap down and left. Never returned to replace bait or attempt something new. For the last 8 years I have had a service contract with the company. Starting 4 years ago I have suffered the worst service from this company that you can ever imagine. For these last 4 years EVERY TIME that I had a home inspection scheduled the technician failed to keep the appointment. No thought of the customer having to take off work so that the inspection can be completed. It would be almost laughable if it weren't so dam maddening. I confirmed my appointment with their main customer service number a week before, the day before and the day of the appointment before leaving my very busy job so as to not miss the technician. My account clearly states that the technician is to call me 1 hour before he/she is to arrive as it takes about that long to get to my home from work. I called their customer service number again to make sure that a technician was coming since I hadn't heard anything by 4:30 for my 3:00 - 5:00 pm appointment and was assured that the technician had been notified and was coming. I sat at home all afternoon and guess what? NOBODY SHOWED AGAIN FOR THE 4TH YEAR IN A ROW!! To add great insult to injury...while waiting for the Tech to appear...I received a call from Terminix asking me to schedule an in home inspection... UNBELIEVABLE!! Last year I had to deal with a branch manager to get it straightened out and two years ago I had to deal with the Regional Manager to get the inspection done properly. Buyer beware! We called to be serviced for ants and were told they'd come out during a specific time frame only for them to never show up. We gave them one more chance and they again let us down. I called this morning for a third time to give them yet one more chance and they couldn't even have someone come out today. Because we have had to wait in hopes Terminix would be coming out, our ant situation has become dire, hence me wanting them out today. So, I was hoping they'd rectify their mess up but no. A few weeks ago, I called Terminex to assess our situation with ants in and around the house. Terminex promptly took care of the ants but informed me that they had discovered another problem--bats. According to the inspector, there were bats in both of our two attics. He warned me of the dangers of having bats in the house (possibility of rabies and other bacteria in their feces) and provided a nearly $5k quote to remove/replace the insulation and remove the bats from both attics. Considering the potential health risks to our family, my wife and I quickly agreed. A team from Terminex returned to the house a few days later for the all-day insulation/bat removal project. I stopped by to check on the progress that evening and was informed that there were bats in only ONE attic, not both; yet, the project to replace the insulation in both attics went forward. I expressed my dissatisfaction with having to pay for unnecessary work in the second attic(since the two attics are separate) and was told "the boss" would call me first thing the following Monday morning. To make matters worse, the next day, I found a dead bat in our yard below the gable vent where the Terminex technicians had been working . This was especially concerning because we have two very small children and a dog, any of whom could have easily picked up and handled the dead bat. Monday morning came, and Terminex did not call as promised. I called the company at 3 pm and had to leave a voice message. I finally got a hold of someone the next day after calling the corporate office demanding to speak with someone; but rather than addressing the two issues of concern--1) proceeding with a project that was only required for one attic, not two, and 2) the discovery of a dead bat in the yard the next day--he asked to come over to inspect the work himself. We attempted several times to agree on a time for him to do this; and the two days he was scheduled to come, he canceled at the last minute--first because he forgot that it was his anniversary, then because he was delayed at a medical appointment. He suggested coming by the next day--third day in a row--but I was not available. After discussing my concerns over the phone (I asked him to call, which he did hours later), he told me that another boss would call me the next day. Needless to say, no one called; and another week has passed without a single word or attempt at resolution from Terminex. Although I appreciate the nearly $5k worth of work that was done in our attics, I am extremely disappointed with Terminex's failure to address the above concerns, instead giving me the runaround with "someone will call you tomorrow" or "someone will stop by," then canceling last minute two days in a row--both times with questionable excuses. I was promised one thing and another thing but got none of it. I have three days to cancel however your sales field manager is trying to charge me $1900 to cancel it when In the contract it states I have three days to cancel without penalty or obligation. I didn't even get insulation installed as the attic floor did not allow it. I am canceling within three days and should not be paying for anything as in my contract it states I can cancel within 3 days with no penalty or obligation. USE A DIFFERENT PEST CONTROL COMPANY UNLESS YOU WISHED TO BE CHARGED FOR SERVICES YOU DID NOT AUTHORIZE!!!!!!!!! I have had both termite and pest control service from this location. I was temporarily cancelling my pest control. At the same time I wanted to schedule someone to come out and do a termite inspection. I called the 800 number to do this. The lady that took the call did not understand what I was asking to do. I went around with her for almost 10 minutes trying to make sure it was understood that I wanted the pest control contract cancelled and to send someone out for termites. What actually happened was she did not cancel my pest control contract. Instead she scheduled someone to come out for PEST CONTROL. Once I was alerted to the fact that it was pest control I called to have it cancelled. The technician showed up to my house anyway. I did not ask for this. I was later called by one of the customer service folks to see about collecting payment of $105 for the service. I attempted to explain what happened. The operator said she would refer it to the branch manager for review. To which I would be contacted within 24-48 hours. Fast forward a couple of weeks to the next phone call to me asking for payment of $105 again. I asked the lady to read the notes. Apparently the branch manager decided that they would not rescind the charges, but did not bother to call me about it. The lady said she would re forward this to the branch manager. I called the next week to find out was was going on with this. The branch manager still had not reversed the charges and basically I was told that the branch decision was final. I at this point had still not received a phone call or voice mail from the branch manager. I was put in contact with the branch liaison who said there is nothing she can do because the branch decision is final. It took me four hours to get the corporate number because obviously the branch does not care enough to even call back so I elected to speak with someone higher up the food chain. Once I got someone at the switchboard the transferred me to a liaison department where I sat on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes only to have the obnoxious hold messaging stop for about five minutes then have the line disconnected. I have registered a complaint with the BBB at this point. read more

Last year 2019, I contacted Terminix for pests in my attic, because I had been a faithful and loyal customer for well over ten years with no incident. The representative came to my house gave me a presentation and I signed the contract on the handheld computer... Huge mistake!!!! The Rep said I would receive my copy of the contract in the email. I check my email and there was no contract. I call the Rep and he said oh no problem I'll send it, well this script went on for several days, still no contract. I did not receive my copy of the contract until the Terminix actually delivered the service (attic insulation install). Terminix installed the insulation and left a nasty mess of insulation in my driveway and the street for all of my neighbors to witness. Then I had to keep calling them to finish the other jobs stated in the contract. After I read the contract many important boxes were left unchecked and vague. I also purchased the mosquito package and the Rep did not tell me it was 100% money back if not satisfied and that in the contract there was an automatic renewal FOR TWO YEARS!!!!!! Which meant more money out of my pocket. When the Tech came to service the mosquito solution, he told me about the warranty. I requested reimbursement because I was still being bit. The Rep did not tell me that the mosquito solution would not work unless it reached all tree tops adjacent to my property. I was so frustrated with unmet terms of the contract, I told them I was going to call the Virginia Fairfax county police. Totally disrespected after spending over $4000!!!! I would like to say this morning at 7:55 am one of the drivers in Manassas, Virginia ran a 4 way stop and almost hit my car. He was going at least 40-45 miles per hour and thank goodness I hit my brakes just in time or I could have been hit. I looked at him and he proceeded thru the intersection raising his hands like "oh my God I just went thru the sign". It left me literally shaking and upset. He could have killed me or someone else. He was obviously not even watching. I contacted customer service at a call center who told me someone would contact me, which I have yet to hear from anyone. They gave me the phone number to the Manager in Manassas. I called twice, not once did he bother to call me back to discuss this. Very poor business. I get the fact companies need to generate business. But at the expense of a former customer? I used Insight Pest control and had agreed to 5 visits from an exterminator. Before my 5th spraying Terminix had purchased Insight. They called and showed up for the 5th and final visit which pleased me. Then the bad news came. In September of 2019 I got home from work and noticed I had a message on my home voice mail from a Terminix tech saying that he was coming to my house that day to spray. This is a business day, they didn't even give me 24 hours notice, I wasn't home when they called. I noticed that my checking account had a 99.00 debit and I called immediately to inform the company the spraying wasn't authorized due to the contract being terminated. The next day, the manager called me and told me that he was sorry and that I would be reimbursed the 99.00 and my account would be closed. Then it gets worse. The money was never reimbursed and 3 months later another 99.00 was debited from my account for services never rendered. I called the customer service and spoke to a man named Michael. He was helpful and told me that my money would be reimbursed to me for the December visit but he also told me that there was a call to the company from me back in September to terminate the account but the call got disconnected. I said, you've got to be kidding me. Michael, the rep, told me he could help me with the December credit but that the local manager would have to call me back to discuss September. I have a feeling that I'm not ever going to recoup my money from September as I'm still awaiting a call from the local franchise's manager. I just want to warn people that this is a shady company and to be aware of their business practices when dealing with them. They are Shady, and that's being polite. After hearing back from them about my complaint and my request for a refund was denied. I am convinced more than ever that this company is worse than I first thought. Do not fall for the "Residential Exclusion" BS. I was told in the beginning that this would be work done on the outside and inside of the house to prevent rodents and other pests from entering. What I got was a handful of steel wool hastily jammed around hose spigots and a few corners after I had questioned them. Within the first 2 weeks we had a snake in the house. Nice work Terminix!! Upon them denying my request I was told that what I paid for was a year long service to remove pests after the fact and they would TRY to figure out how they got in. I was NEVER told before hand that I was paying for an ongoing service. I would have said no immediately. Mind you I already am paying for termite and pest control. After a pleasant initial phone call where I agreed to a quote and scheduled service, I received a call indicating that they could not honor the nationally advertised $50 off promotion. Despite this I decided to continue with the scheduled appointment. Then, the day of the appointment I received a call and was told that the technicians had to receive training that day and that my appointment would have to be bumped to the following day. I still decided to continue with Terminix, but the last straw was when no one showed up during my second appointment. This company has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. Like the other reviewers, Terminix was happy to take over $900 for a 1 year service agreement - but when I need a simple inspection report for the sale of my home I can't get a response. I have tried to contact them for almost 1 month and get bounced around from receptionist to receptionist, all who promise to forward my request, and tell me the report will be emailed immediately. I am extremely disappointed and exhausted by the poor customer service. I have had a terminix contract for 14+ months for a rental property and have not been successful in irradicating the pest problem. I have requested an assessment from this company to explain the root cause of the problem & why they have not been able to rid our property of this problem. They told me they don't do this.
