It's heaven in your mouth on Prospect Park West. This place has by far, hands down, the BEST BAGELS I've ever had. I like the flat, mini everything bagel with tofu cream cheese, fresh lox & tomatoes. I wish they had more tofu cream cheese flavors beyond veggie and plain but oh well. Be warned that there is always a line. Order on the left side and then move to the right side. I've been on the west coast too long without good bagels and whitefish. The Split Decision bagel with lox AND whitefish is my favorite on a whole wheat everything. My new fave place! Plus coffee is real good though they run out of the Brooklyn blend every time and I haven't been able to try it yet. Sometimes service is a little slow but it's probably cuz it's so dang good! We ordered two bacon egg and cheese bagels. $11 and took more than 15 minutes to get our order, after we politely reminded them we still hadn't received our order. A smoked turkey/egg/tomato croissant and some orange has become a de facto staple for me for those occasions that I actually wake up early on a weekend. I waited in line ordered special number 6, instead of turkey i was given tuna, so i asked for it to be fixed, i understand mistakes happen, unfortunately the second time I received my bagel it was untoasted and not scooped. As I was explaining the error, the deli man rushed over and grabbed the bagel out of the counter girl's hand. Then he rudely asked me "what now you want?" I had a hard time understanding him and he grew impatient. After that he went back and made my sandwich, and the third time I got my sandwich it was correct. While waiting for the third time the same deli man called the same girl "f*cking stupid" while she was sweeping the floor, then he proceed to scream at her. This was unacceptable, there were children in the cafe and he was cursing and yelling. I don't believe this is a family restaurant, I will not bring my family here anymore. This was the final straw, I have witnessed the temper of the deli man more than 5 times, he will disregard who ever is the room and say what he wants. He is disrespectful to the other staff, he makes errors, he takes his fustration out on others and he is not sanitary. I tried to go here yesterday for a bagel but they only take cash and I didn't have any on me, so I went back today to check it out. They've got a huge selection of bagels and cream cheese, including my favorite combination, whole wheat bagel with low fat veggie cream cheese. The guys who work there are super nice and very fast. There was a line of about ten people and it only took a few minutes to get my bagel and coffee and get out of there. Looks like they've got good sandwiches too, oh, and they have Vanilla Chai . Their bagels are not bad, but a bit run of the mills. The quality is about the same as any random bagels place in town. The crust is too chewy and the center is too bread like. Not really sure why it is rated so high. Bagel Hole a few blocks away is the place to be for an authentic NY bagel. read more

UPDATE: 3 years after my last review I went back. The quality has really gone down hill and now they have a cashier who does not understand for the life of her why she should not keep the pen customers use to sign credit cards either behind her ear or in her hair. Gross! My family of 6 were loyal customers of Terrace Bagels for 6+ years until today, when we encountered the worst case of customer service ever. We were big fans of the bagel sandwich with lox, tomato, cream cheese, capers & red onions, and would order them all the time. My brother was in town a couple of weeks back and we ordered the sandwiches after bragging about them to him. Just our luck, for the first time since we'd been going there they put a chincy half a slice on each bagel, which was discovered only after we got back to my house. I knew someone had messed up, but we ate the bagels and did not complain immediately because my brother had a flight to catch and we were in a hurry. The next day I went back and spoke to the tall light skinned Black gentleman, as well as the owner. They said they found it hard to believe that we were gypped, but that they would take care of us the next time we wanted the sandwiches. Today we went in and ordered several plain bagels for the kids and the 2 lox sandwiches. They said they remembered speaking to me about it, but tried to charge me full price anyway, saying their employees would NEVER give less than 4 slices. I said to the owner "I have been coming here for 6+ years. You KNOW me. I have never complained and I have no reason to lie." He indicated that he thought I was being dishonest and wanted the full cost paid, so my husband and I left and will not be back. I can understand if I were some fly-by-night customer, but I live a block away and have supported the business consistently over the years. His attitude was horrible, and he was ridiculing me in front of a long line of customers. Thinking maybe he has a personality disorder since he had always been nice up until that point. With the uninviting cattle drive layout, you will get trampled if you stop to actually look at the menu. Upon ordering, minor details such as "very little" cream cheese" get written down as C.C., and you realize you are just going to get "cheeeburger cheeeburger" even after you repeated 'very little'. Shuffled along with your ticket, you select a cup for filling your own coffee, confirming herd status. When said bagel arrives, as always!! - one to two inches thick of "very little" cream cheese. Ugh. These people have 5 thumbs or 1/5th of a brain. Despite loads of coffee options such as chocolate oreo mint cinnamon hazelnilla, you can actually taste the grounds and cheap beans spiffed up with some unknown flavor chemicals. You really get the feeling that this place is designed for volume not quality. Lox is so-so, should be much better for this $. The bagels just don't seem like they used to be, and less inviting place as well. There is just no reason to come anymore. Its dreary, feels and tastes like a hospital cafeteria. read more

No one wants to wait over 20 minutes for simple orders. No one wants to repeat their order just to have the order done INCORRECTLY. The bagels are alright. There are days where they don't make it the way I want and they do tend to mess it up. It does get busy on the weekends that is when they tend to mess up at time. I come here once in a while and I don't mind waiting on the long lines but it would be nice if they had good customer service and said thank you and have a nice day.
