I walked into Territory in Santa Monica without knowing much--just happened to pass by and something about the vibe pulled me in. This place is Kind of like walking into someone's thoughtfully designed studio--earthy tones, soft light, no clutter, just intention. The food? Surprisingly dialed in. No gimmicks. Just fresh, well-balanced flavors. the ingredients are fresh and the kitchen knows restraint. Even the sourdough on the side had that chewy, rustic bite you rarely get outside of bakeries. Service was relaxed and warm. Not overly chatty, but tuned in. They let the place speak for itself. I don't know who's behind the redesign or the new management, but it shows. Waiter was sweet but experience beyond that was not. Food was awful. So salty I could barely eat it, I left 3/4 of my $35 salad on the table. Was a salad nicoise and it was VERY heavy on the lettuce (and salt), very light on everything else that was supposed to be in it. My friend's tacos were so tiny she was still hungry after. Also, it is ridiculous to make us order from an app and pay and tip before getting our food. My friend and I had to get up and look for the waiter to make modifications because the app didn't allow for some. Why as the customer are we working this hard? Do not recommend. read more

We just went here for brunch for the first time today and it was delicious! Really lovely environment (we sat outside and it was beautiful), and the food was top notch. Among other things, we got the 10th Street Breakfast and the TerraTorry breakfast, which were both excellent and generous. The potatoes are amazing (I'd heard they were great, and they lived up to it), and the avocado and tomato salad was delicious (I substituted that for the meat that would usually come with my breakfast). Rounding up to 4 stars because it would be nice if this place succeeded. I mean, the meal was tasty. You can tell the chef has talent. But they're leaning too hard on this "seasonal ingredients" concept as a justification for their prices. It feels very 2010. And those prices - A burger here is $32 when just a couple doors away, you have the famous Father's Office burger for $22. The food at Rosti across the street is pretty awful, but that's where I go now for a casual glass of wine and a snack. TerraTorry just feels too precious - too fine dining. I remember a lot of turnover at this location before Arts Table made it work. This corner is very "neighborhoody." For TerraTorry to work as is, I think they'd have to turn it into more of a destination spot - which I just don't see happening on Montana Ave. read more

First time at TerraTory and I was NOT disappointed, food was fresh and so flavorful. The selection of fresh juices was impressive. We got the Maine Lobster omelette, so delicious, we also got the lemon ricotta pancakes and Terratory breakfast, I ordered it with the chicken sausage and they were amazing! The Terratory breakfast comes with bread and a Mommas homemade jam! So GOOD! We enjoyed some cappuccinos and we wrapped it up with a croissant cinnamon roll! Heavenly! Don't forget to try the fresh squeezed juices, my grandson loved the pressed apple juice! Can't wait to go back for lunch, this is a must! I love that it's woman owned and the owner Bahar even came and spoke with us, it was welcoming and I love to see that kind of interaction. Everyone from the hostess Zaire to the servers were awesome and friendly. You're awesome Jess! I was surprised to see it just opened Wednesday, it was a well oiled machine, food was hot, service was on point and man it was good. They have a cute outside seating area and pet friendly. We have been watching in anticipation as they completed a remodel and wondered what the replacement for Art's Table would look like. Turns out, it's absolutely beautiful, with a serene color palate and pastoral mural on the main wall. The food is top-notch too, featuring high-quality ingredients and hyper-fresh fruit and produce. The tomatoes in my avocado/tomato salad appeared to be heirloom and the strawberries were farmers' market fresh. To round out my brunch dish, called the 10th Street Breakfast, I enjoyed the healthy spin on scrambled eggs (egg whites with olive oil and chives) and sausage (chicken). I will start by saying that I really WANT to like this place as I feel Montana could definitely use more restaurants. I think they've done a great job with the decor and the concept/menu. Unfortunately, I've been twice now and both times I was pretty disappointed. Biggest issue being the service. Both times we never had a server come up to greet us/let us know they would be our waiter. That seems like waiting tables 101. Both times I've had to flag down someone, anyone to take our order. The food on my first visit was OK however my latest visit, my eggs had a soapy taste to them which I know can sometimes indicate that they are not fresh. The bread that came with my order was completely soaked in melted butter to the point that I found it inedible. It was also confusing considering it comes with a side of butter and preserves that you can put on yourself. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are still working out some kinks as a newly opened place but they definitely have some improvements to make. read more

What a fantastic Montana Ave. restaurant! I was not only impressed with the delightful service along with the beautiful ambiance and casual vibe, but most notably was the outstanding food. We had an opportunity to try several items on the menu and I have to say everything we had was absolutely delicious. The mussels, the steak and the croquettes were stand outs. This was my third time here and it was amazing!!! The first time I had the mushroom omelette which is now my favorite omelette ever, the second time I had the tuna salad and fish tacos (also unbelievable) and this time I was with a bunch of moms and we had salad, avocado toast, fish tacos, tuna, madam croquet, fruit bowls, pancakes, and waffles.. again everything was AMAZING. The food is so fresh and tasty, the service is thorough and so welcoming, and the atmosphere is beautiful! Can not wait to come back, def one of my favorite spots. read more

It's as if no one has ever been in the service industry, and everyone is learning on the job. The price point is higher end, and the service doesn't match the price.... If they want to be higher end for a neighborhood restaurant, the service experience has to improve. We've gone a few times to see if things improve, oddly they don't. read more

So happy to have this place in Santa Monica and on Montana Avenue specifically. The food is delicious, the service warm, friendly, and just the right speed, and they even have a kids menu. We loved the whole farm to table seasonal menu, which is what they do. For starters we had the bone marrow, fried green tomato appetizer, and artichoke and arugula salad, and the roast chicken as the main. The kids had smash burgers and fries which they loved. Every dish was so delicious especially the chicken. I also had a watermelon mocktail and my spouse had the watermelon margarita, both of which were really good. Plus they were so accommodating. When we asked for paper for the kids to draw on (we brought our own crayons) they didn't bat an eye. And the kids food came out extra quickly so they could get a head start. For desert we had the most Rori's ice cream, our favorite. Now that we've tried this place once we'll definitely be back again for other meals like lunch or brunch. Whether you're looking for a restaurant for date night, a family friendly (nice) meal, or even a spot for a group dinner out, I would highly recommend this place. read more

We had a big group birthday party here and the experience was great. We were welcomed warmly by the staff, and the inside space is both beautiful and cozy. The food was outstanding both in taste and presentation: I was particularly impressed with the ratatouille and scallops. For some fun, to try their cocktail made with buzz buttons (a type of flower), which is an experience somewhere along the lines of Sichuan peppercorn, but with a touch of bitterness instead of heat.
