Considering how busy this sushi spot can get I'm surprised I wasn't a huge fan. I think they cater towards rolls and party size events more. I like either sashimi and nigiri sushi so I wasn't as excited for the sushi here. The toro was my least favorite and the cucumber sushi. The scallop and salmon was good, and their crab hand roll. I have been coming to this restaurant for many many years yet haven't been here for a while and had a yen to come. This restaurant is first class all the way always has been and still is they have the best salmon skin salad on the planet and they serve real crap. Wow!! I love sushi but this sushi was so diff in the sense that it was unique and probably the most flavorful sushi I have ever had. I am not sure how to describe it so you just got to try for yourself. They def leave a unique imprint in their food. I love the lemon roll from Kushiyu (which is probably my fav roll of all time) but this had its own twist to it and even topped it. If you like truffle, I also recommend the Rolls Royce. And the dessert was amazing! fried banana with matcha green tea ice cream. Service was great, the valet guy even remembered my car and drove it up when he saw me leaving. I don't drive a Rolls Royce, FYI lol. Awesome service. The downside for this particular evening is the wait, I can't blame them with corona. Went recently and the restaurant wasn't even busy, waited literally 25 mins for edamame, TWICE (because it's that good) and like another 30 mins for our rolls. We brought a friend out for their first time- ranting and raving about how great it was, and I think we were there for like 3 hours total for sushi lol? My bf and I came here on Saturday night, by driving down the street to see which restaurants were still open with the COVID-19 closures, and sushi sounded good! Right now, they are only doing curbside deliveries through phone ordering. We ordered 4 rolls and sat in the parking lot until the very friendly server brought it out to us. We ordered a Philly Roll (that was me... don't hate! I like salmon and cream cheese together!) a New York roll, a Rock Shrimp Roll, and a Casanova Roll. I really liked the quality of the fish and how fresh-tasting it was! We both liked the NY Roll more than we thought.... it was actually sliced, seasoned steak rolls around asparagus (no rice) and not at all sushi-like, but so good. The Rock Shrimp was both of our fave and I liked that it was over a spicy tuna roll. The other 2 were tasty as well, although the both had thinner cuts of salmon than I was hoping for. Overall, great sushi and service, but the prices were a little steep for how small the rolls were and with not as much fish as other restaurants. $18 for a Casanova roll, which was about 6 pieces and no specialty ingredients, seemed to be a little much.I'd like to try dining in (if we ever can again!) to compare the experience. read more

This is one of my favorite local sushi spots.  There are a few in the Studio City area, and I have tried them all - and this place is actually really good, fresh, innovative, and is just a solid choice.  I recommend the "Oh You Fancy" roll, OMG roll and the crispy rice. Since starting keto - I love the Geisha lips roll - that has no rice, although it does have shrimp tempura, and their sashimi, and they can make hand rolls without the rice. read more

The place was pretty busy so reservations are recommended. I loved the koi pond and tranquil decor. The patio was heated, which was perfect for a chilly night. We got the yelp free check-in for hot sake and it was great! Here's what we ordered: Shishito peppers: perfectly cooked, medium spice with a delicious sauce and bonito flakes. Rolls: Lobster Roll ~ simple, great lobster, but had too much rice 3/5 Fresh N' Easy ~ so delicious! Yuzu dressing is bomb! 5/5 Rolls Royce ~ truffle, melt in your mouth flavor! 5/5 Sushi: mackerel, salmon, salmon egg, albacore and halibut. All 5/5! The server was attentive. Lately, it's been a hit or miss for me and I'm beginning to realize that not all spots in this area live up to the name. Let me start positively and say that we had wonderful service. Such friendly servers and a pretty cute, cozy and nicely lit sushi restaurant. I enjoyed the wooden vibes. I liked seeing the lovely vibe at 7 o' clock on a Saturday night with people chatting, laughing and eating and drinking. We were seated in one of the cozy booths and we appreciated that they weren't cramped with the other adjacent tables as tightly as you'd imagine in other sushi restaurants. ASAHI 5/5: Can't really mess it up. It was cold and carbonated and perfect with my sushi. GARLIC EDAMAME 4/5: It was savory and tart but nothing special after that. SHISHITO PEPPERS 3/5: Nothing flavorful about them--didn't eat more than two (and I usually am the one to clean them off the table). GYOZA 3/5: Semi-flavorful meat but nothing to find reason in ordering again. TEMPURA 4/5: Pretty tasty, especially dipped into the sauce. SEXY ROLL 4/5: Fresh, slightly spicy, and delicious. Kind of falls apart quickly. ALBACORE W/ FRIED ONION 4/5: Fresh piece of fish, although heavily coated with fried onion where you need to dig up the albacore therefore not making it complement each other. Also, the shredded carrots on the side? Looked like an excuse to fill up the plate...not a fan. YOU FANCY HUH? 3/5: Had a lot going on, but not that much flavor. One piece was unfortunately enough. Not intrigued to get another one. ROLLS ROYCE 3/5: Same deal. Super intriguing with the truffle and and the salmon and scallops, but still not as flavorful as I'd imagine, especially for a $20 roll. We ended up ordering another Sexy Roll because t stood out the most from the other ones. Would I come back? Not necessarily although I loved the ambiance and the service. We sat on the outdoors patio by the koi pond, but the inside is very cute too and looks like what I imagine a sushi restaurant in Japan to look like. They have pitchers of Kirin and the food came out extremely fast (and they seemed pretty busy for a Monday evening). The highlights were the scallop carpaccio with kiwi and the halibut carpaccio (insaaaaane good). Omg roll, sexy roll, and the fancy roll were really good too. Shoutout Snow for the good service. Okay. I am sorry to leave this comment. Ive been to this place several times - several times. And, I like to think im a good tipper. But if the service doesn't merit 15%, then sorry. I will leave the opinions out and type only the facts. I walked in with my girlfriend and mother. We brought her here because she wanted A+ sushi. So, I brought her to Teru. This day the food was still awesome, but the service was bad. I will never return. I'd rather go to sushi stop (across the street) then put up with this establishment nonsense. We got sat; 15 minutes later we were asked what drinks we wanted. At this point I was bothered because other tables we attended sooner. Since we knew what we wanted, we went ahead and made the order of 6 "speciality sushis". 15 minutes later they came back with 2 waters and a pink lemonade. I was bothered again because other tables were given appetizers and entrees sooner. 15 minutes later the plates started coming; mean while another table came in and they were given drinks and entree. I was bothered - putting it lightly. Sure, I ordered speciality dishes at speciality prices. However at those prices, one would expect some service. I assume the guy with the white collar shirt was the manager. He never once checked in to say hi, he never once checked in to ask about how my family was doing, he never once gave me a fist pump, he never once served me water like he did with the other tables that were around me. Obviously I dont know the gentlemen, but that shows where his interest was. Of course im going to be bothered because its evidence of preferential treatment. $125 tab. Driven by this place several times and it always looked fairly busy, so we decided to try it out. Parking is valet only, so we parked on a nearby residential street and walked. Upon entering, we saw plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We opted to dine outside in the back patio, however they also have an outdoor side patio. There's a great waterfall area in the back and heaters in case of colder weather. We started with garlic edamame which was tasty but the portion was smaller than what other sushi places have provided. The iced green tea was very good. For sushi we had California rolls which were the best we've had so far. I don't know how something so simple could be so delicious. The avocado roll we ordered was tasty as well. The shrimp tempura roll was a little odd in my opinion. I've never had one with lettuce and tomato and I personally would not order this roll again. It wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting. Our server was incredibly kind, service didn't take long even for a Friday night, and the meal was delicious. Our new favorite sushi place for sure and will definitely be back in the future for special occasions. read more
