We came on a Sunday for a friend's birthday and found out they have happy hour from 2-6 pm M-F. Ordered the double BBQ plate to share with a friend and it came with 2 sides. When we got the tray I thought the brisket going to be dry, but I was pleasantly wrong and it was moist and delicious. Lots of parking, friendly service and good BBQ so good stop.

In Hawaii Kai by Island Brew, Tex 808 is a barbecue spot. There is a good amount of parking out front, as it shares a large lot with the other shops in the area. There are a good amount of tables inside and outside, with some bar seating inside. The tables by the water have a nice view looking out onto the water. Definitely a nice spot! The people working have been kind and quick to communicate each time we have been there. We got the brisket loco moco, barbecue plate with brisket, mac and cheese, and bread, and a barbecue plate with turkey, beans, and bread. The loco moco was about $20 and the plates were about $20 for a single. These seemed to be a bit much for the portions for the plates. The loco moco was alright. There was a good amount of meat and the portion was good. There were also 2 eggs, which seemed generous! The brisket itself was a bit tough but not bad. The mac and cheese was pretty good and the bread. The beans as well were alright. The turkey was tasty but a bit dry. Overall not bad, we would probably try the frickles next time.

My friends and I go for Trivia, and get food while enjoying the fun. My absolute favorite thing are their nachos. It comes with pulled pork and a ton of different toppings. It was delicious and is super easy to share with the table. I also got the fish tacos. I was pretty disappointed in the size of the tacos considering the size. There was hardly any toppings on it and the fish was tiny. If I come again, I would stick with the nachos. But still overall have a good time here.

Great food, right by the marina! Smoked meats have lots of flavor and crispiness, but not dry. Plenty of sauces to choose from if you want more flavors! You can also order food from the joint burrito place. Big burrito with yummy birria. And a side of rice and beans! Pleasantly surprised by the amount of onion rings given in the appetizer. And by the taste of course! Service was attentive and friendly. Enjoyed playing trivia, Wednesdays at 7 PM. The ambience is casual but a good place to catch up with others. Open air seating is nice and breezy.

Cowboy cravings satisfied! :) If you're looking for southern-style comfort food with a cool vibe in Oahu this spot hits different. I had the burger and pulled pork both juicy, smoky and full of flavor. BBQ sauce was fire! That sweet savory bean and bacon blend was everything. Staff was chill and kind and the people around? Just good vibes. I sat by the water, cowboy view in the background and it honestly felt like a little country dream in the middle of the island. Cool staff, lovely ambience, food came out hot and perfect. I'm in love and I'll be back.

Been here a few times usually they're pretty good so it's a regular spot color us. Decent food and decent service with a nice casual atmosphere and a view over the bay. This last time was the same. Came for lunch and tried sandwiches vs plates. Wife had the bbq sandwich, I have the bbq Philly steak sandwich. Wife's was good and the Cole slaw was a nice balancing component. Mine, the want to be Philly steak sandwich was good, except for the cheese sauce they used, which completely ruined the dish. Tried scrapping it off but the meal was already ruined. Plus, my onion rings were weary oily, still dripping on my plate when it was served. What really gave me a bad feeling as when we paid, using the Tex 808 app, it showed no tip so I left a $10 bill. More than deserved but oh well. Then, only later, when I saw my email receipt, I see not only was a tip added, but it was 22%, which is way more than deserved. So, system default I assume caused me to tip twice and each time more than I would have normally given. Will I come back, prob, as we usually do. Not too many bbq places. But I will make sure to scrutinize the bill and the tip amount is correct.

Did takeout from one of our neighborhood go-to spots. Easy online ordering and the food is pretty reliable. Prices are decent and the portions are good.

I really wanted to like this place, since I've been wanting to try it out for years. Unfortunately, the food missed the mark on Sunday afternoon. The mac and cheese was dry and lacked seasoning, the rib and the brisket were also on the dry side. We also weren't given any BBQ sauce so we just waited for a table to leave to grab the bottles. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but overall, I wasn't impressed. That said, the atmosphere was great! The views were beautiful, the live music added a nice touch, and the onion rings and beans were delicious. However, the service was extremely slow, which made the experience even less enjoyable. I'd love to give it another try in the future, but for now, it was a bit of a letdown.

my husband and I and our friend came here on a weekday night and had a good experience. I ordered the brisket and ribs plate with tater tots and coleslaw. Everything except the brisket was really good unfortunately it was pretty dry. I also enjoyed sitting right on the water and they had live music the night that we went, which was really fun. I would come here again and next time order the smash burger. Service was good!

Hard dried brisket that was unable to be chewed with a burned smell that was just wrong.

Tex808 has lost a customer now. I previously had good experiences at the Hawai'i Kai location. Between the Moanalua location and my experience at Hawaii Kai this week, I am done. I placed a pick up order Monday for brisket and fish. I've never had such horrible dried up, old, burned brisket. The pieces were as hard as biting into plastic! The black tasted as if it had been scraped off a pan. For a place to represent fresh brisket this was the furthest from it! When I opened the fish I initially noticed 2 things, the soggy crust and a smell. I was starving and went to grab a piece. The next red flag should have been the weight of the fish but again I was hungry. I bit into it and almost threw up. The taste was foul, the fish was hard and I immediately felt sick. The entire $48 order was trashed. I called the restaurant and was told they would refund the money, I'm still waiting. This is unacceptable to risk health for food like this.

Awesome BBQ spot with the rare waterfront seating on Oahu. The Brisket is my fave as far as the meats go. Happy hour has some good deals with giant beers and scratch made margaritas. Also a great spot to catch a sporting event as there are TV's everywhere. They have a cool outdoor fenced in area with cornhole and giant connect4 game.

View from the patio

Great beer selection, cheesesteak (with brisket) was awesome and my wife enjoyed the chicken tacos. More importantly the service was fantastic. Views from the patio of Koko Head were the icing on the cake. I only took a picture of the view because we ate the food so fast.

Finally, got seated and a server eventually came by. The pepperoni rolls are delicious as always. We tried the paniolo burger (excellent) and the It's a Gouda burger (good, but I couldn't really taste the aioli or the Gouda). The mac salad on the side is fairly good although I prefer Zippy's because it's more flavorful. Kona's is a bit on the bland side. I got an itty bitty beer to go with my drink and didn't realize that the 5 ounce pour was basically the size of one of their little taster flight beers, but it's $4.25, where the 10 ounce is $6.25. Kind of wish my server had pointed out the 10 ounce is a better value, but they were extremely casual and seemed pretty distracted the whole time, so I don't think they thought to mention it. The 15% off for kama'aina makes the food a better deal. A nice place for a bite to eat and to try some interesting beers and seltzers on tap.

My partner and I had just finished a long hike and were excited to relax, enjoy a good meal, and watch the World Cup game. When we arrived, we approached the host stand to put our name on the waitlist. Instead of being greeted with a smile or any sense of hospitality, the host, Sarah, came across as very snarky, dismissive, and unwelcoming. She informed us there would be approximately a 45-minute wait, which we completely understood and were happy to accept. While waiting, we stood near the bar area so we could watch the World Cup match. Despite standing there for around 25 minutes, not a single bartender or employee acknowledged us, offered a menu, or even greeted us. Eventually, after about 30 minutes of waiting, a table in the bar area became available. Since it was empty, we sat down, assuming it was open. Within moments, the host approached us with the same rude attitude and told us that table was being held for another party. We politely asked to speak with a manager. Rather than responding professionally, she visibly rolled her eyes before going to get one, which only reinforced how unwelcome we felt. When the manager arrived, the interaction was equally disappointing. He never asked us what had happened or tried to understand our perspective. Instead, he immediately apologized and reiterated that the table was reserved for another waiting party. We didn't want to cause a scene, so we simply moved to another available bar table. What made the situation especially frustrating was that the original table they insisted was reserved remained empty the entire time afterward. No one was ever seated there while we watched. It left us questioning why such a rigid stance was taken over a seating arrangement that appeared easily manageable. The issue was never about having to move tables. We understand restaurants get busy and that hosts have to manage seating. The problem was the complete lack of hospitality, communication, and customer service. From the host's attitude and eye-rolling to the manager's unwillingness to listen before making a decision, we felt like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. As first-time customers, first impressions matter. We arrived excited to enjoy our evening, but instead left feeling ignored, dismissed, and genuinely unwelcome. A little kindness, professionalism, and a willingness to communicate could have completely changed this experience. Unfortunately, that's not what we received.

Like hard a a rock extra crispy. You also only get like 6 so after we each tried one or two to confirm how bad they were, they were gone. The main we tried was the steak frites. Okay at this point I was just sending thoughts and prayers. Steak was fatty and chewy on both ends but the 5 middle slices weren't that bad. Also well seasoned along with the seasoned fries. Not the worst. Drinks were good but you can't really mess up wine and beer. Service was also good. Even though she warned us she was new she did a fantastic job checking in on us and making sure we felt cared for. Now why didn't we say anything on the spot? Well, combined with the fact that our waitress seemed too sweet to have to deal with complaints and we were hungry and tired and just wanted to enjoy the evening before heading home, it didn't seem like it would accomplish much. Also, Extra food if refired would've been too much food. And honestly, we shouldn't even have to brings these issues up. Standards.

From the warmest hospitality to the best food we had in Honolulu, XO completely exceeded our expectations. We only wish we had a restaurant like this back home in Chicago. Every dish was memorable. The Hamachi Crudo was the best we had on the island, fresh, vibrant, and perfectly citrusy balanced. The fried chicken absolutely lived up to the hype and then some. My personal favorite was the perfectly seared scallop with crusted shrimp, an unforgettable combination. My husband and I also decided to add the salmon, and we were so glad we did. Every bite was plump, fresh, and beautifully blackened. What truly blew us away was the value. We've been fortunate enough to dine at Alinea and EL Ideas in Chicago, and XO reminded us of what those restaurants might have inspired at a fraction of the price. The level of creativity, execution, and care that goes into every plate is extraordinary, yet the experience is incredibly approachable. We left completely satisfied, already talking about when we could come back. One bonus, if it's your thing! It's currently BYOB while awaiting their liquor license renewal in August, so if you enjoy pairing your own wine or drinks with dinner, take advantage of it while you can.
