This place is Fire. I went with my husband and ordered fully loaded brisket baked potato and the stuffed jalapeño and cheese sausage and I have to say it was delicious. The Staff was amazing. I would definitely return and recommend this place.

    Jalapeño cheddar sausage. So delicious!

Wonderful place with great hospitality. We will definitely be back! They are only open on weekends at this point. If you haven't been yet, try it ASAP. You won't be disappointed.

We were on the South side of San Antonio when we got hungry. I asked my wife to see what she can find. And she found the diamin the rough. I wanted to try some good food And she nailed it. We were not expecting to get some of the best brisket we've have tasted in Texas.. The ribs were phenomenal.Excellent smoking on all the marble brisket which had explosive flavor. I'm picky with macaroni and cheese but this hit the spot. Sweet potato fries and quickly fries were on point hot and so good.. The staff was extremely friendly. We met the owners who made us feel like very welcome lots of smiles, The place really felt comfortable. They have an outdoor patio and indoor dining area. But the day was gorgeous, so we decided to sit on the patio.. Of course , we had to have desert , so we got the peach cobbler with ice cream. Cobbler was nice and warm. The ice cream melted and it was explosive flavors in the mouth. But of course, I wanted to take a nap after my experience with this place.. It's a cute looking restaurant right off the freeway. But well worth the drive the pan experience. We all have a great. We will definitely be back again when we want the best barbecue in Texas..

Last week, we all decided to go to Gus', and boy does this place smack. The chicken was spicy, juicy, and crispy, and apparently it is devoid of gluten. Gluten intolerant Big Boss was so happy and got to finally eat something that wasn't a baked potato.

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more THE LOCATION: Downtown and I believe near the King William community. Street parking is tricky with all the "no parking anytime" signs, but there is paid parking next door, which is pricey, but get this... GUS'S VALIDATES up to one hour. We went on a Sunday afternoon and got a seat fast and was out of there in under an hour. THE MENU: crispy fried chicken. And spicy. Probably not ideal to bring your littles unless they can handle the heat . The hubby selected a chicken tenders meal and I went with a two piece fried chicken meal. I don't like drumsticks, but I'll deal with a drummette. I know, I know. I asked for a thigh and wing and selected bbq beans and Mac n' cheese as my sides. The beans were sweet and tangy and the Mac n cheese was ok. I really enjoyed the crispness of the chicken. Just wish they had a mild version of the chicken, as well. THE SERVICE: I am very impressed at how attentive and friendly the service is here. They don't hover over you but are efficient at the same time. I recommend this place if you're in the area or have a hankering for crispy, spicy chicken! DON'T FORGET! Bring your parking ticket with you

Lots of tables and lots of areas with games for kids (or adults)! Including cornhole, tic tac toe, checkers. There also a little library full of books (give one, take one) -water was brought to our table as we were sitting down -drinks ordered brought out quickly -I had a custom beverage. I got the Choccy cold brew but switched the cold foam to strawberry and it's delicious -food came not too long after. The pulled pork grilled cheese and garlic fries were amazing! My husband got a salad and loved it. Only problem was they gave tomatoes when he requested for them to be removed but he was ok with moving them out. We also got a potato appetizer with cheese. I can't remember the name of it but it was all SO good. -display window at the register with pastries looked amazing! -they had a little shop with some really neat things. Handmade pottery, local honey, sourdough starter kit to name a few. I honestly can't wait to go back

Food and Service with a simple ambiance…read more This was my second visit with friends this time on a Wednesday. First there at opening time. Instantly greeted, and drinks came fast. Ordered the Soul Rolls and just WOW. A egg roll type wrap filled with seasoned ground beef, greens and Mac N Cheese. With Brown Gravy. MMM. Could be a meal by itself. Friend ordered Fried Green tomatoes. No complaints from him. Perused the menu with the Wednesday special being Meatloaf, 2 sides and a drink. ($11.99). I ordered meatloaf was delightful dense meat... not many fillers smothered in brown gravy. A side of Mac N Cheese and Okra.. SO MUCH TO EAT. Friends got the Swai fish with Yams and Green beans. Second friend had Catfish with cabbage and okra. They both loved their individual plates, had enough to create a to go plate for later. And don't get me started on the Banana Puddig for all 3 of us. MMM. Support this business. They do Soul cooking excellence.

Let me be clear up front: the food was amazing. We had the fried chicken wings, catfish, sweet…read morepotatoes, cabbage, fried okra, black-eyed peas, and cornbread--and not one thing disappointed. The flavors were on point, well-seasoned, and cooked with care. I especially enjoyed the fried chicken, the cabbage, and those black-eyed peas--pure comfort food done right. I do want to share one note for transparency. The catfish entrée came with one piece of fish. It was a nice size (unfortunately I didn't grab a picture), but I'm used to receiving two fillets with a catfish entrée, so that part was a little disappointing for the price. We also ordered a catfish sandwich to go, and while this didn't take away from the overall experience, an additional piece of fish would better match expectations. Now let me give credit where it is absolutely due. The young woman working the front--Ariel (I believe it's spelled A-R-I-E-L, and I apologize if I missed that)--was phenomenal. She was cashier, to-go coordinator, and full-on mama energy, handling everything with grace, patience, and a great attitude. Even as it started getting busy (you know how folks roll in after church), she still made space for friendly chit-chat while keeping everything moving. Another thing I truly appreciated: the place was clean. And for me, that matters. Spotless, inviting, and the only thing in the air was the smell of that delicious food--no distractions, no off-putting odors, just good cooking doing what it's supposed to do. The food is served in to-go containers and everything is cooked to order, so expect a little bit of a wait--but honestly, who would mind waiting for food prepared this fresh? Overall, this was a great experience with great food and excellent service. I'll definitely be back--and hopefully next time there's just a little more catfish on the plate.
