3 meat plate (brisket, pork ribs, turkey) with sausage links, beans, and creamed corn
    Brian B.

Continuing on my trek to try different BBQ that our city offers, I visited Zeke's. It is not much to look at on the outside, but since I was taking my order to go exterior appearance wasn't too much of a concern. I couldn't get an idea on how big the restaurant was as I only occupied the counter area and the seating near it. I walked up to the counter to place my order. The friendly lady running the register sensed that I had not visited before, and offered a couple of samples of brisket, mac & cheese, and creamed corn. I ended up ordering the 3 meat plate and half a sausage link. My two sides were beans and creamed corn. My 3 meats were brisket, turkey, and pork ribs. I was pleasantly surprised by the great smoke flavor in each of the meats. However, it wasn't as pronounced in the brisket. Their bbq sauce was really good although the meat tasted just as good without it. I really enjoyed the creamed corn. Only disappointment was the beans as they did not have much flavor. I actually was given two full sausage links, which I thought was a nice gesture on their part. Given the price and how much I got, I would definitely make an effort to come back.

2 Meat Plate with Brisket and Turkey; sides are Mac & Cheese and Spanish Rice

Slightly-Less-Than-Average BBQ joint. I had the 2 meat plate with brisket and turkey. The brisket had a good flavor, but was dry (and I asked for moist/fatty brisket). The turkey was gloriously average. The mac and cheese was pretty good, but the spanish rice was a bit of a let down. To top it all off - the ice machine was broken and they were out of iced tea! You can't have a BBQ joint without iced tea, guys! I'll say this, the place seemed & smelled clean. They were kind when bringing the food to the table, so service was acceptable...then the lone window unit air conditioner went out while we were eating!

Ordered: Brisket & sausage links, 2-sides potato salad & mac*n*cheese. Slice of bread. Pickle & Onion and BBQ sauce as condiment.

Do not let the looks deceive you. Unpaved parking lot, small dining area, small condiment station, no clientele. As this place may be considered a "hole-in-the-wall,"it serves great BBQ at a reasonable price! Menu is kept simple and easy to understand. Food is delicious and flavorful. Service is awesome. I do recommend this place for a quick BBQ stop.

I wanted to try a new barbecue restaurant and saw Zeke's wasn't far from me, had a good rating and great health score so I figured I couldn't go wrong. When I walked in, the woman behind the counter asked if I had been there before, showed me the menu and took my order. I ordered the sampler and watched her go into the kitchen. I thought she might start helping to prepare the food, it seems like this might be a mom and pop business but she did not start preparing food, she came out with samples of creamed corn, green beans, beans, barbecue sauce and brisket. I paid and the man in the kitchen asked how I liked the brisket, I gave him a thumbs up and told him I preferred the moist cut over the lean. When my order was ready, I wasn't expecting it to be in two separate bags but it was. The sampler is a lot of food for a more than reasonable price. The sides: The beans are very good, the rice doesn't look like much but is really good and the green beans are absolutely great. I like creamed corn a lot but I'm often disappointed when I order it but that's not the case here, considering how creamy it is, I'm guessing it's homemade and I can tell it's definitely not the canned stuff. The mac and cheese is not for me, I'm really picky about mac and cheese and usually don't order it out and wouldn't have to have this again. I like coleslaw a lot and it's another side that usually disappoints me but it's really good here, it's like an upgraded fast food coleslaw it's hard for me to tell if it's homemade but I know that I haven't had coleslaw like that anywhere else. The potato salad is also good and seems homemade but it's another one of those sides where it's hard to tell. The meats: The turkey is great, I don't normally order turkey from a barbecue restaurant because it's usually dry, that's not the case here even though it's turkey breast. The chicken is really good, it's another thing I don't normally order because it's tends to be be dry but it is not here and it has the most smoky flavor of all the meats. The pork ribs are really good and so is the brisket. The sausage is so good, I'm presuming it's homemade since I have never had any sausage like it. I don't usually leave such lengthy reviews but Zeke's exceeded my expectations and there is so much food on the sampler. I would support this business again and again.

5/5 this is my second time at Zeke's. My favorite is the Beef Ribs. They're seasoned with pepper ground and so tender, literally a rare gem in SATX that sells beef ribs! I always get good service from the folks here. They made us this (5 lbs) on Thanksgiving which was our main course, and did not disappoint! Small local restaurant that does great BBQ takeout, would come back again!

2 Meat Combo. Ribs & Beef Rib

Awesome food including a beef rib that you can include on a combo plate. Excellent sides. Mac & Cheese is very cheesy good along with the potato salad being seasoned perfectly. Juicy ribs too!!

I thought the "soup of the day: cheese tortellini" sign...was a joke like "soup of the day: beer". No, that's really the soup option. Anyway, this one was close to his school, had a tortellini entree, and looked pretty good, so we decided to give it a whirl. We've gotten the last walk-in table twice now, at 5:45 pm. Which really gives me the warm fuzzies. It's a tiny space that seats maybe 20 folks; it's proud, not upscale, but not run down and reasonably busy. It's slightly claustrophobic, but in a way that implies they're prioritizing space for tables. It's the kind of place where you can just feel that the food is gonna be good. The kid got the cheese tortellini on both visits and will do so on every visit in the future for all of eternity. He decided he's not a fan of tortellini in soup form, so I get his soup. He rates the entree somewhere above HEB imported refrigerated variety and somewhere below his most beloved Pesto Restaurante, but I think if we tweak the sauce, we will get it dialed in ok. I've gotten Veal Francese both times, because I'm a monster, and when I see veal on a menu, I can't help myself. It was paired with a salad, and (my kid's) soup, and the entree was served with pasta al dente. Super filling and priced quite reasonably. It was delicious - I loved everything about it. Awesome little family-style place, great food, good atmosphere, ample parking. This one checks all the boxes.

As far as the food, we had the fried mozzarella, which was essentially a log of cheese deep-fried and served over sauce. It was delicious, but the cheese-to-crust ratio was a bit heavy. The Caesar salad looked better than it tasted. It was very wet, if that makes sense, and the lettuce seemed soggy. Now for the Wagyu ragu. This almost made me have a seizure, and not in a good way. It was extremely salty and completely inedible, so we had to send it back. The waitstaff was very accommodating and agreed that the salt level was way off, so we replaced it with the carbonara. I'm not sure if that's what authentic carbonara is supposed to taste like, but I did not enjoy it. It tasted burnt to me and had too much pepper. I also didn't care for the shape of the noodles. Last, we had the Americano pizza. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. I just think that if you're going to advertise a pizza with meat on it, there should be more than one piece of sausage per slice. As far as the service, our server was fine. Not particularly friendly, but straightforward and efficient. The manager (or another server) was helpful when it came to replacing our dish. Overall, I would not go back. The location is great and the vibe is nice, but the food was a miss. Save your money and go somewhere else.

She had been there once before with her retired teacher's group and raved about it for a few days. I was excited to go. The actual venue is really charming. Our server told us that the owner decorated it himself, including painting the beautiful murals. The tables are nicely spread out. Everything is cheerful and clean. The food was wonderful. We started with garlic cheese bread. It came on a platter with a bowl of sauce in the middle. There was plenty for the three of us on the platter. It was wonderful. The bread was soft and tasty. The cheese and sauce put it over the top. For my entree, I ordered Diavola alla Crema, which was gnocchi, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, parmesan, shrimp, and a spicy creamy sauce. There were options such as pasta instead of gnocchi and chicken instead of shrimp. In fact, my wife had the same dish with the chicken. I can't say enough about this meal. First of all, the portion was absolutely huge. I actually brought half of mine home with me so I could manage dessert. The shrimp were cooked to perfection. The gnocchi were lusciously soft and flavorful, but the sauce... OMG that sauce. It was creamy and seasoned immaculately. There was a tiny bite to it that really sent the whole dish overboard. I even commented to my wife that I couldn't think of anything that could ever make that sauce better. It was truly the star of the plate. My son had the Chicken Gorgonzola. He said it was very good. All I can say is that it sure looked amazing. He raved about the sauce on his, as well. He couldn't eat all of his, and carried a small box home with him. He even skipped dessert. My wife and I are dessert people when celebrating an occasion. The server said she had a tray of samples to show us, but recommended that we walk over to the counters to see the full selection. I took one look and felt my heart beating faster. I liked everything I saw, but two things really stuck out for me. When we got back to the table I told my wife I was torn between two of them. She was also torn between the same two choices, so we ordered one of each and split them. I don't remember the names, and they aren't listed on the receipt. I think one was called Biscoff caramel cheesecake. The other was a huge slice of a delicious layered cake that had cream filling and blueberries. Both of them were truly delicious. Now that I have tried this wonderful establishment, I will bring my retired teacher group during next year's rotation.

Antinoz Cafe is, without question, a hidden treasure. My son attends The Winston School San Antonio just around the corner, which is how I first discovered it--but what truly brought me in was a referral from an incredibly talented local chef. With that kind of recommendation, I knew it would be good. I just didn't realize how exceptional it would be. From the moment you walk in, the space transports you. The décor is lively, layered, and beautifully executed, with intimate pockets perfect for everything from a quiet lunch for two to a lively gathering--or even a full buyout event. But what truly sets this place apart is the service. The staff is extraordinary--warm, inviting, and deeply professional in a way that feels distinctly European. This isn't just a job to them; it's a craft. We settled into a cozy corner and ended up lingering over a three-hour lunch that felt effortless and indulgent in the best way. The food? Beyond words. Every sauce is made from scratch--nothing prepackaged, nothing reheated. You can taste the care, the intention, and the quality in every bite. The ingredients are top-tier, the execution flawless. The cappuccinos are exceptional, the wine list is thoughtfully curated, approachable, and smartly priced. I had the opportunity to meet the chef, and it only deepened my appreciation. He is humble, kind, and clearly invested in every single dish that leaves the kitchen. And then there is Christella. Our lead waitress, Christella, was simply extraordinary. She is the kind of person who could elevate any restaurant--but what makes her truly special is how deeply she believes in this one. She knows the menu inside and out, understands her guests, remembers her customers, and creates an experience that feels both personal and seamless. Her warmth, confidence, and intuition are rare--and she is a big part of why you will want to come back again and again. I visited once... and then immediately returned the following week. I already have another reservation and am bringing friends. That should tell you everything. This isn't just a "great spot in the Medical Center." This is a destination restaurant--one worth driving across the city for. Having trained at Le Cordon Bleu, I don't say this lightly: this place is special. I'm also told they're opening a gelato concept next door--done in a signature Tiffany blue. If it reflects the same level of quality and detail, it will be something truly extraordinary. Don't walk here--run. And if you go, tell them Dana sent you. Not because you need better service--they already deliver that effortlessly--but because places like this deserve to be known, celebrated, and supported. For a moment, you'll forget you're in San Antonio... and feel like you've been transported straight to Positano. Perfect for lunch. Even better for date night. Trust me--you will thank me.

It was noisy, cramped, and just not comfortable. From start to finish, the experience was messy. Water was delivered haphazardly and there was never enough. The water station had nothing at all--just a small, empty pitcher. There were not enough plates, so I guess we were expected to reuse the dinner plates on the table. The food felt very institutional. Tortilla chips with warm salsa were strange, the queso was okay, and dinner was a salad (fine) plus a buffet of ravioli and bowtie Alfredo. Pizza eventually appeared but disappeared quickly, and a few more pizzas showed up later. Some wings arrived even later and did not look appetizing. Most of the pastas and pizza lacked any real character or flavor. Drinks were poorly handled. Beer was fine but who delivers pints and then lets them sit on a service table for 20 minutes? I'm sure several went undrunk. Most of us left quickly after staying for the obligatory hour or so. Service mostly consisted of delivering food and drinks. There was very little attentiveness beyond that. The space, the food, and the service all left a lot to be desired. On top of that, there was basically nothing for the vegan in our group aside from some tortilla chips and warm salsa. That was a big miss. Not the worst place I've been, but overall it was disappointing. 2 stars.
