Wish i could give ZERO STARS. I'm a corporate traveler that unfortunately eats alone 3x a day. I was raised in Brazil and was really looking forward to a churrasco when I was basically turned away because I was a party of 1. I was told the wait would be 2+ hours on a Tuesday night at 7:30pm. I counted 14 empty tables and 9 of them were of the 2 chair variety. I was told "we have a promotion ongoing" and that was the reason for the half empty restaurant that I could return to just before closing time if I wanted to wait 2+ hours and have dinner at 10pm. Last night I took my brother and sister and their spouses to TdB in Crossgates. I have been to many Brazilian Steakhouses over the years, and had bragged about the experience. This was their first experience and while they thought it was nice, I was disappointed. Let me first say the greeter was friendly and sat us on time. Our waitress was the highlight of the evening, Amanda was very attentive to our table, was personable and a total pleasure. It was when we started the main course that things fell apart. The servers were slow to get around to the tables, and in many instances the meat was luke warm or even cold when it was served. Had it not been for Amanda's diligence, we probably would have seen servers less than we did. The only meat I had that I feel was served at a proper temp was the flank steak. Also, I felt the signature steak was not only cold but under seasoned as well. On to the dessert, the last couple times we've been there, my wife has ordered the flaun, and this time was no exception, unfortunately as in previous visits, they only had a limited amount, and while Amanda tried to save one, it turned out they didn't have one. My favorite is the Papaya cream which I have ordered at every Brazilian steakhouse I've ever been to. This was by far the worst one I've ever had, it was like a watered down milkshake, not anything like what I am used to. In conclusion I would say, the serving staff should go and see the level of service you get at other Brazilian steakhouses and wake up. My first and last time eating here. The salad bar was good with some fish options. That is where the good stopped for me. I ordered a margarita and it was warm with a stake taste. The wait staff read from the script they have. Easy to tell how inexperienced they were. The meats were just ok but the park was grossly undercooked. At one point there were four servers at our table at the same time all asking if we wanted their specific meat. Experience was rushed with poor to fair food. Will not be back. read more

Went here for the first time last night to celebrate my mother's birthday. Everything was excellent!!! Can't say enough about how awesome our waitress was! Water glasses were never low and empty plate didn't sit long. Their salad bar is by far the best one I've ever experienced! Everything from salad, meats, cheese, sushi, soup, potatoes, even sautéed mushrooms! Every piece of meat I tried was delicious and so tender you could cut it with a fork! They even serve you 'real' garlic mashed potatoes. The fried bananas are to die for!!! So many amazing desserts to chose from if you save enough room! Will definitely be going back!!! read more

It has been years since I went to a Brazilian steakhouse. I used to frequent a place in Queens, NY, but it has been closed for some years. I decided to give Texas De Brazil because it was my parents wedding anniversary, and I wanted to have a memorable experience. Thankfully, that's exactly what it was. When I made the reservation, the person asked me if there was any special occasion, and I told them a wedding anniversary. When we arrived the hostess congratulated the couple (after they found out which couple), and the waiter also mentioned it as well. I was surprised they remembered, and that was a nice touch. The waiter, and his assistant, was very helpful, and courteous. He explained how the meat system worked, gave us suggestions on the salad bar, and was nearby if we needed anything. The assistant was very attentive and helpful as well. The group started off with the salad bar. I tried not to take too much from the salad bar, but from what I had, it was delicious. The sushi tasted fine; I believe it was a California roll. The cheeses tasted fresh, the prosciutto was good, and the lettuce was crisp. The shrimp was good as well. However, the best part of the salad bar was the soup. The lobster bisque was amazing! I always enjoy a good lobster bisque, but what made it amazing was the little bit of spice added to it. I never had a lobster bisque that was spicy. Now to the main reason for this review, the meat. Texas De Brazil only serves chicken, beef, lamb and pork. I wish they had some exotic meats, however, the different selections for each meat were enough. They had several different cuts of steak that were all delicious, except for one. One of the cuts was a little salty. I do not remember what cut it was, but I was really surprised how salty it was. The chicken selections were not great, and to be honest, I did not go there to eat chicken, so I stayed away from it. There was a limited selection of pork, and we did not receive the selections until towards the end of the meal. I think that may have been purposeful because we did not receive the pork selections until my father asked for it. I believe, because the way we look, they thought we did not eat pork. The pork selections were juicy. Nonetheless, the meat that stole the show was the lamb. They served leg of lamb and lamb shoulder. They were so juicy and tender. While you are eating your meat, they put 2 sides on the table, mashed potatoes, and sweet bananas. The mashed potatoes tasted like ordinary mash. However, the sweet bananas were really, really sweet. There was a ton of brown sugar on it. They say these two sides are to cleanse your palate when you are finished eating one type of meat, and move on to another one. The bananas definitely did that with the amount of sugar they had on it. For dessert, our waiter brought tray of the different deserts they have on the table as well as the different desert liqueurs they have. He left the tray on the table, and we found out the deserts were fake! I never knew the deserts on that tray were fake. I eventually chose the creme brulee. The bowl they served it in was much larger than I've seen it in. It was delicious. I had a desert liqueur as well. I forgot the name of it, but it taste like a warm rum punch; it was a Brazilian drink. Overall, it was a great experience. Everyone in our party had a great time. The most important people of the evening, my parents, had a great time. Yes, it is a little pricey, but it is worth the money. I would recommend this restaurant for any carnivore. read more

Took my family (five of us) for Mother's Day. This is our go to place for special occasions. Unfortunately, on this occasion the meats were almost all overcooked. The pork was dry, the bacon wrapped filets were deader than dead, everything was way too done. The only meat that wasn't overcooked was the house signature sirloin and the leg of lamb. I brought this to the attention of our waiter, who was tremendous by the way. I let him know that we were disappointed in the quality this ONE time and asked if it was maybe because it was so close to their closing time (it was 8 PM and they close at 9). He told me that it shouldn't be because they keep meat rotating until they close. I told him I wasn't making an official complaint, I just wanted to make sure they knew their food was not the quality that we had come to expect at this restaurant. He went to talk to the manager and came back and told us that since we were just providing feedback and weren't really complaining, that they wanted to buy three desserts for us as a sign of good faith. I told him that wasn't necessary and that we would still be back, but he insisted they wanted to do something to show they appreciated us and our feedback. That is how you treat a customer! Even though the food was subpar to what we normally expected, they wanted to make sure our experience ended on a positive note. Okay, this is our 3rd visit to Texas de Brazil. Wait staff is awsome. .each visit we found seating is everything with this type of restaurant. .this time we were seated by the kitchen to the left along the wall, don't get stuck there..as a matter of fact, best location is middle of the diningroom, toward Lord & Taylor..as the meat servers exited the kitchen, the wouldn't look to the left, and we sat without meat until one of our servers helped us out...secondly, when they would come to our table, we would be one the first cuts coming off the skewers. ..you would think that's a good thing. .but as the servers circle the floor back to the kitchen, they would put the meat back on the heat, and season it...there seasoning is a little salty to begin with, but we quickly became salted out and waived the white flag...we would definitely go back, but now know where not to sit.... read more

On Wednesday October 3rd at 1pm, I received an email from Texas De Brazil. The email outlined the ptromotion for "throwing it back to 28.99" It detailed a deal for all meals for 28.99 for 10/8 , 10/9. Being that my sons 17th birthday is coming up and Texas De Brazil is one of his absolute favorite places to eat, I had decided to take advantage of this special and call to schedule reservations. My experience was less than pleasant. First, I called the Albany NY location to reserve. I was greeted on the phone by a woman who spoke quickly and said "Texas De Brazil, please hold!". She placed my on hold without me being able to get a word in edgewise. I held for a total of seven minutes. Someone picked up the phone and abruptly hung up in my ear.... I called back. The same woman answered. She said her same slogan and placed me on hold. Someone picked up after 5 more minutes of waiting. I asked to speak with a manager. I held for several more minutes. The woman who eventually picked up was a bit difficult to understand and I could not hear her well. I explained that I was looking to book a party of 15-20 guests on October 9th to take advantage of the promotion that I had been emailed about. She placed me on hold again and then tells me that there is no room to reserve until 9:30 or later on October 9th. I asked if I walked in with that size party-could she accommodate. She told me that she couldn't promise me anything. She was cold and short. I was in disbelief that in less than 24 hrs from the rcpt of the promotional email, There was only a "possible" reservation for 930pm or later.. I am a mother of 6 boys. I am a nurse who works 3 jobs to take her family out. I have a large extended family. We love to visit Texas De Brazil but this is really a game changer. I have never had an experience like this before. Im not sure that myself or anyone in my party would recommend this establishment for large parties. Pleasantly surprised Having been to Portuguese BBQ's in Newark, NJ and NYC, I didn't know what to expect in Albany, NY. I was pleasantly surprised. Went for a holiday lunch so I am assuming that menu was limited but wouldn't have know that. The salad bar is fantastic and I could have just ate from there. Cheeses, salad, veggies, roasted garlic and pepper..Yum yum!! From the BBQ, I tried the garlic steak tips, bacon wrapped chicken and sausage. All delicious but the sausage was my favorite. I heard the lamb was fantastic as well. The only thing that I thought that was fair was their black beans (had with rice)..A little to salty for me. Dessert was included and since they know everyone is usually full it's great that they allow you to take dessert home. Everyone had something different but I would say the warm Coconut Cream pie with caramel sauce was the winner!! It's is definitely worth a dinner. Enjoy! read more

El Stinko de Mayo... WAAAYYy overpriced. We filled up plates with salads and sides and had to then WAIT WAY TOO LONG for servers to come to table to deliver the advertised "unlimited" meat. Meat is cut off spits at tableside by bumbling, reticent, and befuddled teenagers who do not know how to cut meat off a spit. Horribly small portions of meat, despite several requests to cut MORE. (Perhaps the servers were afraid to cut their thumbs....) . Poser manager came much too late to ask if there was a problem...we were already full of salads and sides and the few slivers of meat we could coax from our teenage butchers. I had a reservation for a party of 2 on Friday June 19th at 8pm. When we got there we were told to wait outside, which was fine I expected there was going to be some type of wait since this place is always busy. We waited in our car for 45 minutes until we got into the restaurant. I am 6 months pregnant and the fact they expected me (or anyone else) to STAND outside for almost an hour is ridiculous. We got to our table and it took a while to be served, we didn't have plates or napkins or anything so while meats were going by we were not able to get any. We ordered from the salad bar by checking off what we wanted on a piece of paper (all you can eat salad bar even though we were only offered it once). Again as we are waiting 20 minutes for our salad bar options more meats are going by and we don't have plates yet so we are just watching them go by. We ate our salad bar quick, and then started to get our meats. I only got the filet and skirt steak before the meats stopped coming out. I was assuming because they closed soon, however if you're going to make someone wait almost an hour for a table you need to offer your food later! Not to mention, I didn't have water almost my entire meal because we only saw our waitress twice. I'm not sure why the service was awful If they were operating at half capacity. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and I can't believe the amount of money I paid for barely any food. I am normally pretty understanding especially with covid going on, but this was just absolutely ridiculous. For years my family used to look forward to coming to this restaurant, as we used to enjoy the food here. However in the past year we've dined here on four occasions with declining service and food quality, but for my sister's graduation party we figured we would give Texas another shot. After eating the salad bar, the wait staff is supposed to replace the dirty plates with clean ones, but this did not occur. We requested new plates from surrounding waitstaff for almost 15 minutes, with no action still. It should not take the intervention of a manager just to get clean plates for diners. Prior to this, our family of 11 had also requested that our meats be cooked medium well, and that we would like a few certain meats to be brought to the table at some point during the meal. While the waitress claimed that she had put in these requests multiple times and spoke with the gauchos about our requests, we continued to receive undercooked meats, and the majority of our requests were not met during the service. Instead, gauchos continued to offer us meats while our family was clearly still eating our salads, and then only presented some of our requests to the table after we had all eaten and our plates were cleared. Many in our party did not receive the meats they requested, and the ones that did were not cooked to the proper temperature. Besides the temperature, the meat itself was very poor quality. Many pieces were so tough and disgusting to chew that they had to be spit back onto the plate. Texas de Brazil's Albany location is grossly mismanaged with clear communication issues between the wait staff, the kitchen, and restaurant patrons. The simple requests that the waitress initiated show the staff here is inadequately trained, especially considering the price to eat here. It surely ruined what should've been a joyous occasion for our family. We will not be returning here in the future, and I recommend dining at other upscale dining locations in the area that are likely higher quality as well as more affordable. read more

The food at this restaurant is amazing. They are highly proficient in the area of smoked and grilled meats. Their wine list is extensive, and the bartender was knowledgeable. The fun part about this place is the opportunity to sample so many different cuts of meat and preparation techniques. The gauchos who bring meat samples to the table were fantastic. My only complaint about the restaurant was the cleanliness. My first wine glass was dirty with something sticky on the bottom that made the drink napkin cling to the bottom of the glass. When we went through the buffet, we had to rifle through the stack of plates to find two plates which were clean on both the top and underside of the plates. Overall if the seating area (plates) aren't clean, it makes me question the cleanliness in the kitchen where we don't see. read more

I have dined at Texas de Brazil on numerous occasions. Most of the time the food is great. The fried bananas, lobster bisque, au gratin potatoes and top sirloin are some of my favorite things there. Just wish the quality was more consistent. I recommend signing up for the email alerts a week before you want to go. Came here for a special occasion. Really didn't know what to expect but as a meat lover, a brazilian churrascaria and AYCE meat are very appealing reasons to try a restaurant. Oh boy am I glad to have tried it. Made reservations for two at this place, got seated pretty quickly and the feast began. The salad bar was alright. Didn't really put much time into it but the lobster bisque they had was delicious. Moving on to the meats... They have a pretty cool system where gauchos will come offer/serve meat at your table as long as your coaster is flipped on the green side. My favorite were definitely the lamb chops, leg of lamb and filet mignon. For dessert we decided to try the bananas foster pie which was just alright. I'd much rather have had more meat!! Definitely a unique experience and worth a try. This is located inside Crossgates Mall. If you're coming from Schenectady, the highway exit to crossgates can be pretty jammed so be careful! read more

When this place first opened I was blown away. The meat just kept coming and it was all delicious. Recently I've found that its declined a little bit. They seem to cook everything super rare, like raw. I'm sure it's due to insufficient amounts of time to allow the meat to cook on slightly lower temps. It appears they are attempting to cook the meat faster by using a higher temp. Problem is only the surface cooks leaving the second slice nearly raw. When seated your asked if med rare is ok which to me it is but raw is not med rare. Dont get me wrong, the flavor is good and I'm not afraid of rare beef, in fact that's how I cook my steaks at home but I must draw the line at raw. The salad bar is still fantastic but for what you pay for a meal at texas de Brazil, I can no longer say it's worth it. If they get back to cooking their meat a little longer and lower serving a truly med rare cut, I will start going back again. Until then I can only give 3 stars and will pass for now. Dont get me wrong, if you've never been it's still worth a try just be sure to request your meat be cooked to your preference or you may be eating raw. One thing that does drive me nuts here, no free refills on soda. Seriously? They cant manage free soda refills on a $50 per plate meal? read more

Excellent service and food! Salad bar has many offerings, all fresh and great tasting! Well prepared and with Brazilian seasonings! We enjoyed the full meat offerings with our favorite being the Brazilian sea songs and sea salt infused top round was clearly our tables favorite. The bacon wrapped filet came in second. The Parmesan or bacon wrapped chicken were also great poultry selections. We enjoyed the Texas di Brazil's Pinot Noir along with their dark beers. We concluded our meals with an array of delectable desserts - key lime pie, cheesecake, creme brûlée along with Rumchata after dinner drink. All very tasty!! Needless to say we all left overstuffed but well worth the visit. The only negatives were while eating the mall fire alarm repeatedly went off disturbing our dinner but the wait staff immediately closed the glass doors to try to shied the shrill alarm sounds and the total cost of our bill for four was just under $300!!!! Needless to say we will only returning for very special occasions which is probably best given how much we ended up eating. read more
