The remodel looks cheap and has left it stark and uninviting, the salad bar is lacking, and the women's bathroom smelled horrible. I made a reservation on OpenTable, checked in with the hostess and got a notification when I got home that I missed my reservation. How hard it is to get that right? I made our reservation for 3 online and the 6pm slot was full so I chose 6:15pm. We got there a little early and were told to wait over in the seats by the bar. A few minutes later we were taken back to our table and there were empty tables everywhere. So, why were we told to wait? Why couldn't they seat us when we walked in? Ahmed was a very nice waiter but he spoke really fast and we could hardly understand him when he answered our questions. I got the salad bar and the others in my party got the all you can eat. They LOVED all of the meats. The mashed potatoes were nice. They didn't have any beer on tap and a lot of their beverages were in bottles. I was pretty disappointed in the lack of selections at the salad bar. For $30 I was expecting a lot more. The lobster bisque was amazing. But the salad toppings were sparse, except the bacon. That was great. My son did get his cheesecake free because it was his birthday. We had signed up via email that morning to get a coupon for $20 off our meal. Well I guess it can take 48 hours to receive the email. I asked if they would honor the $20 off because I don't live in Denver and they wouldn't, they said they needed the 8 digit code, which I received this morning. So it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. To be really honest I was more impressed with their salad bar than their meat, they didn't have very many nice cuts of meat, mostly cheap like sirloins, variety's of pork, and some chicken. Not exactly what I expected. I'd definitely come back for the salad bar though. read more

Celebrated my little brothers birthdays there last week. Meat was terrible we were asking for medium well and they would bring us meats that are cooked over well done. Called next day to talk to manager believe his name was David and he told me since we didn't complain same day there is nothing he could do for us but he offered me free desert. Lol Are you kidding me. We came and spent almost 400. And you want me to come again for some free desert. It wasn't worth ruining my little brothers birthday over. Went here for my birthday. It was a bit crowded and we were seated in a corner. We had to walk through tight space because the tables were close to each other in order to get to the salad bar. The meats were okay. We like our meats well done and some of them were not. The fried plantains were amazing and so was the dessert. The food here is absolutely scrumptious BUT i do have some things i'd like to say. First of all if you flip your little card over it's like WW3, all these guys start coming at you from every direction asking you if you want their dish. Which the meats are usually great but overall it's really stressful. Second of all it takes awhile to get certain foods to your table. For example my table requested a certain meat MULTIPLE times yet it took about 20 minutes for the guy to even get to our table. The reason I am giving 3 star is because the meat serving was terrible. The only meat that would come around was sausage and chicken l. Picanha only came after 25 minutes we were sitting , I had to request the picanha and it was not a good piece. The other good pieces of meat never came by. If I'm being honest with myself these two stars are given for my prior experiences and fond memories of dinners with friends here every other month for the past 12 years! Unfortunately after my last two meals here in July and August I don't expect to return. Maybe it's under new ownership or new management. Regardless, the changes have lost them our business. Let's get real here. You come to a Brazilian steak house for the steak. All the beef offerings came out incredibly rare and overly salted. I love my meat medium rare but when the silver meat plate the gauchos are holding is drenched in blood that should have been a clue to the gaucho that the meat needed a longer grill. These are experienced gauchos. The same friendly faces we have seen for years. Often apologizing during this visit for the condition of the meat, as if they do not have control and have been instructed to bring this undercooked steak to our table. So what is going on here? We have had meat that was cooked perfectly at this location...for years. They knew how to grill perfectly. But no longer? I don't get it. The lamb came out either clearly very rare or overcooked and dry. One in our party prefers her meat medium. We asked several times for medium. Still all the beef looked bloody rare, not pink. So... she just ate salad. Too pricey for just salad. But the amazing gourmet salad bar selections of the past have been greatly reduced too. No more fresh green beans, asparagus, hearts of palm, gourmet sliced beets with onion, pickled onions, sushi, smoked salmon, nor tabouli. The delicious lobster bisque has been replaced with an odd jalapeño cream soup. The chimichurri offered was old, brown and appeared store bought. Not filled with fresh bright green parsley and spices as it had been in the past. Sigh... The service was also lacking even though the restaurant was half full. Waters were not refilled. Our sides of bananas, mashed potatoes and cheese bread were delivered to our table right at the end as our plates were being cleared. We assumed they had stop offering them as well. The only saving grace is they did not change the recipe for the red sangria. As soon as you walk in recent major decor changes give you an idea that something is different... and not in a good way. Now the old traditional Brazilian decor is mixed with shiny metal, color changing panels reminiscent of a night club and beautiful marble that clashes with the iron works on the walls. Like two completely different styles are competing and even though I'm certain these changes were pricey, someone should have sprung for a designer to pull it all together. So, am I just resistant to change? I am mourning the loss of one of my favorite neighbor restaurants. read more

This place NEVER disappoints. My sister lives in Denver with her husband and son. So, I've been to Denver a handful of times. Every visit I make, I always make it a point to dine in at Texas de Brazil. This place is worth the flight over the Pacific Ocean. I've eaten here every single time I make it out to Denver. It's a must. The venue is clean and sophisticated. The staff is very friendly, quick, and attentive. Now...the food. Man oh man oh man!!! Everything is good. I especially love the house special, the filet mignon, and the flank steak. It's just perfection!!! It is served Brazilian style...where the server comes up to you with the meat on a long skewer, and they cut it up right in front of you. The salad bar is awesome. There is so much to choose from: various veggies, cheeses, dressing, etc. Everything just looks and tastes fresh and healthy. The lobster bisque is superb. This place is a must-go. It always meets my expectations, and I leave a very satisfied customer. I just wish they had one here in Hawaii. =) read more

Celebrated my boyfriend and I's anniversary last night here and it was amazing! Our waiter, forgot what his name was, but was blonde and had glasses, he was the best!! Absolutely great service and ambiance. Meats were delicious, some were cooked too rare, but great nonetheless. Potatoes Gratin, mashed potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms were delicious. Came back here after a long hiatus away. We were a party of 4 celebrating our friend's birthday. We arrived early just to have a drink prior to our reservation. The drinks were made well and the bartender was nice. The drinks are overpriced for the amount given but they were well made. The salad bar was awesome! Loved the lobster bisque and the smoked salmon! I could have gone more than once but I was here for the meats! My wife did go twice though. When they brought out the meats, I wasn't disappointed. Cooked to perfection! My favorite was the top sirloin and the lamb. My only complaint was our waiter. He kept forgetting a lot of what we wanted. Our banana and mashed potatoes came out after already eating 3 rounds of meats. He didn't get my friends tea order correct and forgot we had a discount. Overall I will be coming back soon. As a last minute decision, we ate here last weekend because we were in the area. I suggested it as I had heard very good things about this place. When I walked in, nobody greeted me. They weren't even busy. I saw my party sitting at the bar so I walked over and joined them, right past the hostess stand where neither one of the hostesses even looked up at me. After sitting at the bar for about 20 minutes, the group I was with told me that they were surprised we weren't seated yet as the hostess told them they would seat us when I arrived. I mentioned that the hostesses didn't even acknowledge my existence so we walked up to the hostess stand and asked to be seated. When we were seated in the restaurant, I took note of the dimly lit decor, the fake flowers piled on top of the salad bar, and the giant skewers of meat being transported around the dining room by waiters holding carving knives. It was a comfortable atmosphere, but between the salad bar and multiple waiters walking around with meat, there was too much traffic. It was distracting. Our waiter was very nice, but didn't seem to know how to explain the concept of the restaurant or the meal very well. My party and I ended up very confused as to how it all works. Turns out, there is no menu. You either get the light dinner at about $30 which is just unlimited trips to the salad bar. Or, you get the full dinner, which includes visits to your table from the waiters holding the various meats, for around $45. I was very surprised, I had no idea this place was so pricey when I suggested it. My first trip to the salad bar was a surprising one. Not just salad, but smoked salmon, proscuitto, salami, various cheeses, tabouli, grapes, asparagus, lobster bisque, sautee'd mushrooms, au gratin potatoes, and so much more. It was delicious! I almost didn't get the meat portion of dinner, I figured a few trips to the salad bar would be plenty for me. But when I found out there was leg of lamb, I changed my mind. I even got an end cut. It was very good. All of the beef I had was WAY TOO SALTY and the chicken was tender, juicy and fantastic. The prime rib never made it to my table. My father, who had been anxiously awaiting prime rib all through the meal, was disappointed. The manager stopped by our table and asked how everything was. My father mentioned the prime rib and within minutes, the prime rib was at our table and being carved for my father. Overall, it was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. I enjoyed the salad bar, the lamb and the chicken. However the experience didn't blow me away. The service was extremely half-assed and what we got was very over priced. I am torn about this place at one point, I love to give this place 4 stars but at another point I want to give this place 3.25 stars. So here are my thoughts about this restaurant. This evening on Friday of Jan 02 2009, Hubs suggested that we went here for dinner. When we arrived we have to wait about 30 mins with the "flashing beeper" in hand. I think we wait less than 30 mins before the "token" start flashing. The place were crowded. A little noisy for my comfort level. When the server came to our table and introduce himself, I could barely hear what he had to say. Then our main server came, and ask what we want to have for drinks. Hubs have his coffee while I request for "SKY JUICE" aka water. Then we approached the salad bar. Several items that Hubs fancy. I just took the shrimp, some small sushi, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, asparagus, Brazillian salsa what not. My second round of salad items comes when I reached out for the Lobster Bisque for some soup, while pick out sauteed mushrooms, more shrimps, 2 more pieces of tiny sushi what not. Then came to the interesting concept of wanting your meats. If you turn the "TOKEN" GREEN meaning you want your meats to come to your table. So Hubs turned the "TOKEN" from Red to Green, the server who carry individual meats or poultry pierced in a "sword-like" knives. We choose mostly the poultry of chicken pamersan, the rack of lamb and lamb chops. I could not recall if Hubs choose any form of steak or filet mignon. One drawback is, the meat are way too salty for my taste bud. I know as what the main server earlier had mentioned to ask we can request the kind of meat we want and how we want it to be done. By that way, the meats/poultry will come at a later time slot. Since both Hubs & I were too hungry we just ate what they offer us. At least they gave a bowl of mashed potatoes so I ate the meats/poultry with the mashed potatoes. Oooh, when they gave us the mashed potatoes, come along the semi fried plantains with cinnamon sugar coating. So after finishing the dinner, Hubs requested for double shots of espresso and we ordered 3 pieces of desserts. Hubs had the cheesecake while I have the chocolate cake and shared with Hubs the key lime pie/tart. The server ask if we want our desserts to be packed to go. I did not know that we could packed our desserts to go, since I have finished like almost 3/4 of the desserts. At least the server ask and I could at least indulge the rest of the leftover desserts at home or on my own sweet time. We are indeed stuffed after the whole feast but there is a BIG OUCH on our bills. Hubs told me, its going to be like once a life time kind of thing to go to this Texas de Brazil. Between 3.25 to 3.75 stars but I DONT think we would return. read more

By now, you've heard all about the charming Churrascaria in Northfield called Texas de Brazil, where studly gauchos will strut by your table letting you sample their meat (skewered of course) until you just can't take anymore. You've been regaled with tales of their expansive salad bar, fresh juices, piping hot sides, and so on. So, instead, I would like to share with you a story which I hope will explain why I like this place so much. On one visit our red/green indicator seemed to have somehow blown a gasket. Each time we put it to red, we were still being offered flesh upon flesh upon flesh! Of course, we were too polite to refuse because really, who in their right mind would?? But finally it all got to be too much, and led my sister to bang her fists on the table and say "Stop molesting us with meat! No Means NO!" Whichever Brazilian came up with putting juicy meats on a stick and showing it off to savage carnivores like me was beyond smart. After dining at several churrascarias, I like to think that I have some experience in consuming meat. Texas de Brazil is expensive ($19.99 for lunch, $42.99 for dinner) to pay for a nice ambiance. The decor includes extravagant pots of floral arrangements (actually fake) and large metal poles (really made out of wood). You do have to join their e-mail list to receive coupons to be able to afford dining there. No matter how tempted you are by the salad bar, save room for the gold. The selection of meats vary by location, but the waiters will heavily advertise the picanha (top sirloin), which I thought was just okay. My favorites were actually the garlic sirloin, beef rib, BBQ pork rib, and bacon-wrapped chicken. Their lamb had a very strong lamby flavor, which didn't settle well with me. The mashed potato side was...just mashed potatoes, but the baked bananas side was yummy, it served as a good palate cleanser between different meat samplings. The desserts were large, but nothing special. Much kudos to Texas de Brazil for their merlot sangria. I don't know if they put crack in it, but it was sooo good. When you want the meat servers to flood to you, you turn a card to reflect green; when you want to eat and digest, you turn the card to the red side to tell them to go away. For some reason, when we had our cards to the red side, the meat servers kept on coming to our table. Goodness gracious... I love LOVE this place! Especially during restaurant week, because the price is reasonable. Went last night and had a wonderful time. We arrived a little late for our reservation with no issues, had a wonderful recommendation on a bottle of malbec, which was poured into a decanter on our table and was kind of fun to watch, and then dug into the wonder that is the salad bar... though it can hardly be called a salad bar... it's more of a salad oasis... fresh, delicious items to pair with your meat so it's easier to pace yourself (roasted red pepper with one bite, a bit of cheese with the next... makes for a great adventure for your tastebuds that can be as adventurous as you'd like). We sit and turn our tokens over and the onslaught of meat commenced... filet mignon by itself that basically melts in your mouth, filet mignon wrapped in bacon that sings to your tastebuds while clogging your arteries, barbecued ribs that taste even more delicious because they're the only real item that you can eat with your hands without being given the stink eye (the bread doesn't count; you shouldn't be eating the bread, it's just a filler), and many other options that I just can't remember right now. I know the garlic something-or-other had WAY too much garlic for my taste and the house special of the night didn't strike a chord with me, but I was definitely satisfied (read: stuffed like one of their sausages) and ready to fall into a food coma afterward, though I'm sure the wine helped with that. I do have to say our waiter was enthusiastic and very nice, but he lost a couple points with me for pouring the wine unevenly (I know, I know, nit-picky much?... it was really good wine and I was on the lesser receiving end) and when I opened my leftover dessert (included in restaurant week, otherwise it would have been... no, it still was, overkill) it was in the box upside down. What? Who does that? Also, some of the meat guys (not sure what else to call them) were a little pushy. Ex: flipping my red token over to green to push their meat faster... wait... that sounded wrong... anyway... All in all, a VERY satisfying experience and highly recommended. I am a huge fan of the Texas de Brazil chain. This is a Brazilian steak house, and they make sure their meats are quality. I love the beef ribs, house sirloin, lamb chops, and leg of lamb. To be honest, I typically steer clear of the chicken because, well, it's chicken. Surprisingly, the filet mignon and the bacon-wrapped filet seems less tender to me than the sirloin. But you can't go wrong either way. In addition, your $45 gets you unlimited access to their incredible salad bar. This typically includes salad (duh), prosciutto, fancy cheeses, smoked salmon, California rolls, olives, and roasted jalapenos. Oh, and unlimited thick-sliced, peppered bacon. Honestly, the salad bar alone is almost worth $45. For those of you who need to eat gluten-free, you have found a safe haven. Almost all of their meats are gluten free, the majority of the salad bar items are gluten free, and even the rolls that they bring to your table are gluten free. Sadly, the lobster bisque is not. If not, you're missing out on one of the best food and most miserably stuff stomachs that one might every desire! Cruise into here, grab a seat, grab a plate and hit the salad bar. There are all of the usual things that you'd imagine and lots of things you wouldn't: frozen mozzarella balls, prosciutto, lobster bisque, au gratin potatoes and more! Try not to fill up too much, but don't miss out. Get a clean plate and turn your marker to green! Enjoy Parmesan pork, chicken, garlic sirloins, ribs, more ribs, steaks, sausages, and all kinds of stuff accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes and grilled, cinnamon bananas. This place is great, the service is overwhelmingly good, and the cheap skate in me loves that dinner here is only $42 per head versus the typical $50 that you'd experience at most of the other steakhouses. read more

This has got to be the easiest place to have a great time with friends, eat a lot of Brazilian style food and soak in the atmosphere. Having said that, you have to know what you are getting. TDB doesn't claim that any of the meat is humanely raised or grass fed - which might be OK for some (once in a while) and at the rice price point. The lamb was very good. The chicken was dry. The filet mignon was OK. The picanhas were very good (not great, but very good). The salad bar is OK in terms of selection. I really liked the olives. The shrimp was the most disappointing item but the smoked mackerel was excellent. The string beans had no flavor whatsoever (not even their own). The feijoda was very tasty and not too salty. In fact, none of the food was too salty which is a good sign. The wine and drinks selection is very impressive, almost a book full. Service was definitely sub par and not very motivated especially for a Tuesday night. Had to call the manager to get our waiter when we wanted more drinks. Dessert was a bit of a let down. We had a papaya cream with cassis. The cassis was pretty much the lowest quality I've had in my life. Barely any flavor, watered down.
