well I'll start by saying it was a busy night, we walked in and the girl at the check said when I gave my name "you know it's a 2 to 2 1/2 hour wait"! I said we'll forge that and proceeded to go stand closest to bar as possible so when someone got up I could grab a bar seat. well that was kind of a joke because as I watched there were lots of people that weee done eating and done drinking and just sitting talking like they were just hangin at a regular bar!!! come on people don't be so rude!! let others eat!!! so after waiting about 45 mixture I went back to girl at check in and said I want to put in my name and she rudely looked at me and said "ya know there's still a 2 to 2 1/2 hour wait!!! that's after watching a lot of people get seated!!! so I did it anyways and finally saw people from bar get up and leave so grabbed there seats. I removed myself from wait list but shouldn't have would if loved to see how long the wait really was!!! so order meal that took forever just burgers ordered medium (little pink in middle) welol they were so well done they were like leather. not once did Tanya ask how our meals were. the only good thing was the salad. took home burger for dog. won't be going back there for A long long time!!! read more

The only reason I like going to Texas roadhouse is because of the rolls. after all the tables around us and people who just arrived got the rolls and we didn't, we requested some. long story short, we got ONE basket for five people AFTER we paid our bill. pisses me off. waitress was rude too. the shirts say "we love our jobs" but clearly that's not so true, because i did not see her crack one smile. overall bad experience, and i remain mad hours after this whole ordeal. read more

Great steak house with entertainment and free peanuts everywhere. My son absolutely loves this place, he throws the peanuts shells everywhere and can't get enough of the dancing. The staff is extremely nice with the waitresses the best around. The yeast rolls are incredible and unlimited as well as the peanuts. It is loud, but that is the atmosphere. Country music blaring and staff dancing, peanut shells on the floor. The cuts of meat are all excellent, huge portions of everything. Salads are good, but come with egg. Our waitress was the best. This was my first trip. I was looking forward to a great bone-in rib-eye. I was asked if I wanted to choose the cut from the butcher's counter. I went with a 25oz. steak. When it arrived the waitress waited until I cut into it to ask if it was cooked to my liking. It was. But be sure to ask them to cut back on the salt though. Even the baked potato was crusted with it. I guess they are also known for their fresh rolls. They were very good and are served hot with cinnamon butter on the side. It was hard not to eat them all before my steak arrived. But I resisted knowing it was going to be a big meal. Same with the bucket of peanuts. They had a decent selection of beers. And the manger came out to greet me. He was very keen on me having a good experience. He brought a variety of four different sides to sample. I wish he had done so before I ordered. When checking in for seating outside, the woman in the booth was extremely rude to my boyfriend and I. very short, with a lot of attitude and she told us we needed to wait in the car for 20-30 minutes (which we were fine with). as soon as we get back into the car, we get a text from the automated check in telling us our seats were ready, I went back up to the booth to double check just incase and she was very rude and didn't answer me until the third time I asked. she has BY FAR, the easiest job there (trust me i've worked at many food places), with that said, the food and service inside was very nice. I don't think that woman should treat people that way, did not catch her name but i'm sure people will know what i'm talking about if they have encountered her. read more

I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about...this place is great for what it is. Saying this place is loud is like saying McDonald's fries are greasy. No kidding...that's the point. This is called the Texas ROADHOUSE...not the Texas Library or the Texas House of Fine Dining. A Roadhouse is supposed to be a loud gritty place with good food at a good price. If you want to pay $10 more for the same steak...sure go to Longhorn up the road...it is quieter. Food: Good. The bread is good, the portions are large, and it's all at a reasonable price. I just like a straight up rib-eye which is what I usually get, but the Prime Rib and the Kabobs are also good. This is what the Olive Garden is for Italian Food...good food at a good price, but not like the North End of Boston. To be honest, Augusta, Maine is a black-hole when it comes to descent food and this is definitely one of your better choices. Atmosphere: Loud. Line dancing every 20 minutes punctuated by the loud "yee-haws" during table birthday celebrations. Great for families and young couples on dates...probably not a good choice if you want a nice quiet dinner on your 30th wedding anniversary. The weekends are usually really loud and busy which can either be a great time or a headache so just beware. PEANUT ALLERGIES STAY AWAY peanut dust is everywhere. The complimentary honey bread with cinnamon butter is mouth watering. Great for small family parties. Pick Your Own Steak...you don't really get the one you pick! I've been to this one here in Augusta, Maine as well as the one in Bangor, Maine. I've been a fan especially since we are encouraged to "Pick Our Own Steak". I love the "Bone-In" 22oz Rib Eye and have on several occassions picked what was almost 2" thick. When I receive the product, somehow it's shrunk down to just about 1"! Really! They explain that it shrinks while cooking. I've also requested that they don't use the press either. This practice is both being done in Auguast and Bangor, Maine. They tell me that they punch in the ticket # into the computer and that it's matched when the line cook picks up the steak. I'm not convinced just because they say it. The steak is totally different from what I've ordered. I take photos of the before...but regret that I didn't do the after this last visit. I'm not lazy and have purchased my own bone-in Rib Eye at 2" thick, and I cannot understand why mine doesn't shrink like theres! It would be awesome if I get what they are offering, but I am too frustrated to try again. Again, it's been on numerous occasions that I have experienced this "Bait & Switch" program. They should be ashamed of this practice or don't offer the "Pick Your Own" if you don't intend on actuallly giving the customer the steak they "picked"! read more

I was very excited to find the Texas Roadhouse on my adventure around Augusta since it is my go to place back home in MA. I spend two plus weeks every year around this time in Maine. Well I had my chance for dinner there last night and was quite disappointed. The salad had quite a bit of brown edged turning lettuce. When I pointed this out was told "ya that's been happening a lot". If this was a known problem then why was it not addressed. I ordered a "some pink in the middle" steak but was given "ya that's well done" steak. It was later in the evening and after just traveling and then waiting for food I chose not to have them replace my order. It was offered. I had no problem with the server. I saw how busy she was and know how hard they work. I did speak with a manager and was offered an apology and free appetizers but nothing was said about corrective action. I'm sure her words were just talk and nothing would be done to fix any issues. My only 2 star rating reflected the manager and the food. read more

The first thing I have to say about Texas Roadhouse is the steak is always absolutely delicious. Once out of many visits my steak came out well done not the medium I had ordered and they promptly and graciously made the order right. Impressive. My daughters love the chicken tenders and we all love eating shelled peanuts and tossing the shells on the floor! One unique appetizer offering is "fried pickles". I agree, It sounds truly absurd but when a friend convinced me to try them I was pleasantly supprised! At least once every visit the servers get together, they crank up the music and they do a little country line dancing. It's kinda corny but fun at the same time. Our servers have always been attentive, polite and accommodating. My only minor complaint is that there is not a quiet seat in the house so it is not the best place to go to catch-up with distant friends or relatives...unless you have great hearing and love to SHOUT all night! This is a fun plus to eat if you don't mind the noise. It's a busy and boisterous environment which can be fun, especially when the ladies are line dancing. Portions are generous. Some items are at a higher price than other chain restaurants, but I think they're still totally reasonable. I never got bad waitstaff, not once. Normally my favorite restaurant but our waitress ruined the whole dinner for us this time. After waiting for over thirty minutes for a table to open up we were seated and then our waitress Brookelynn came and took our drink order. Usually when you are seated the waitress will bring out some of there hot buttered rolls and a glass of ice water but my wife and I sat there for ten minutes waiting for rolls and my wife had to ask for a glass of water. During that ten minute wait our waitress was at the next table over chatting with what must have been friends of hers instead of waiting on tables like she should have been doing.This went on for a legit ten minutes. I ordered a mixed drink (rum & coke) with my meal and Brookelynn asked if I wanted to make it a double for $2 more so I said sure. I couldn't even taste any rum in my drink and finished it before any of our food arrived, I ordered 2 more drinks during dinner and specifically told her just a regular not a double but when the tab came I got charged for 3 doubles so I asked our waitress about it and she just nonchalantly said "no they were doubles" and proceeded to grab my credit card off the table and ran it through. Needless to say she didn't get a great tip. Should have complained to the manager but she never came around to see how thing were either. read more

Friendly staff. Efficient. Food is typical of a Texas Roadhouse. The COVID check in is a bit confusing. We completely missed the outside check in which is across the street from the restaurant parking lot. It was handled well inside tho. Waitperson was good. She kept asking if we wanted specific items (mushrooms, blue cheese crumbles, onions, etc.) but never bothered to tell us those were at a significant upcharge. Margaritas were good. Ribs were on the dry side this time, unusual for TR. Salads fresh and good. One ribeye was full of gristle and fat. Not typical of a ribeye and I wounder if they gave us something else and charged ribeye prices. We'd go back again, maybe, but it would never be a routine place for us. My wife and I decided to have a steak while we were in Augusta. The only real steakhouse in the area is Texas Roadhouse. We have eaten here before,The food was pretty good. It's loud and noisy, but that is to be expected. But was not expected was for the food to arrive cool to the touch (my wife ordered the baked sweet potato and the butter would not even melt). Our waitress who was by the way perfect, came over to ask if everything was OK? We said that our food was cold, to which she responded that she could send it back to the kitchen to be reheated. We never send steak back That has been prepared medium rare as it will come back over cooked. She mentioned this to the manager who came over and asked if she could replace the baked potatoes. By this time we had eaten approximately half of our steaks as we were hungry, but did not bother with the sides. The waitress came back and seemed embarrassed. She apologize profusely for the meals, and her managers apparent disregard for the cold food. She brought the check, again apologizing for the cold meal and managers indifference. We left her a 40% tip as it will be the last one she will receive from us. I'm sure the management of Texas roadhouse could not care less about a couple of occasional diners who receive a cold meals. But eventually this sort of mediocrity catches up. And while it would've been easy for this manager to salvage the situation. She chose not to. We will not return. read more

We usually have a good time here with decent service when we sit at the bar. Our experience tonight was less then desirable at the bar however included a bartender who seemed preoccupied with a particular customer and did not focus on the rest of the bar area. My husband ordered unsweet tea, and when he took a swig was greeted with a slap of sugar on his palate. When he asked the bartender if it was unsweet she said, no it's sweet like you ordered. He said "no I wouldn't order sweet tea, I'm diabetic" she sighed, poured it out and went to the back to get unsweet tea. When my chili was cold and I didn't eat it, no one asked why until our main course showed up (approx 20 min later) when I said "hey our chili came out cold can I get a box so I can take it home to heat it up?" Then I got- "oh we can heat it up". I declined because my main course was already arriving and I didn't want that to get cold as well. She said "cut in to check your steak" so I did and it looked as I ordered medium rare so we said we're good. When I actually bit into it, it was almost ice cold and parts of it was too tendon-y to eat. I spat two bites out into my napkin as nicely as I could. Sadly best part of the meal was the potato. Bartender did not ask once if we wanted refills on our drinks, did not check on us at all, did not inquire as to why my steak only had a bite or two out of it, and didn't even ask if we wanted dessert (even though we were not going to get it).We tried to find a manager to express our disappointment to no avail because we are used to decent experience here. Recently ate here while I was visiting in the area. The food was "OK" which would have given them 3 stars, but the service was definitely not "OK". Sodas delivered without straws. When I unwrapped silver, it was dirty. I asked our waitress for clean silver, in order to begin eating apps. I eventually asked another server, who brought clean silver directly to me. Asked our server for more rolls, she said absolutely, and I'm still waiting. No check back made after food was delivered. Saw the server again only when she was ready to present the check. I'll go to another Texas Roadhouse because I like the ambiance, and the food, but won't be in a hurry to return here. read more

Lunch burgers are great, when the lightly trained staff have to handle actual customers... give them a busy night, forget it - deer in headlights who can barely deliver drinks and those godawful white bread roles and overly sweetened butter. Paying for a "prime" steak here is a bit like getting a sports car with no engine - looks good, but doesn't deliver when you want it to. VERY disappointing. Feed lot steak, cooked by high school "chefs"- the steak they serve - not rich and flavorful, but bland and not very good cuts like they show you in the "preview" window. . highly '"trained" staff who play everything by the book to maximize add on sales - on the whole. It is a chain restaurant, that being said- this is a nicer one. The food is good, the waitstaff are friendly. I have been here several times. Once, my steak was overcooked and I sent it back for a new one- and they gave me my meal on the house! I was very surprised! The onion appetizer is good- with the dipping sauce. The salmon is good, as are the grilled shrimp- the steaks are typically also good. The loaded sweet potato tastes like dessert- and I always get too much food and have to take some home- very generous portions and endless rolls, which have a cinnamon taste with butter. Though this is a chain I wanted to visit because of its proximity to my hotel which was the Homewood suites on route 202. I was dining alone so I took a seat at the bar and was immediately greeted by the friendly bartender Mario. Who responded with, what's your name? The rest of the evening he continued to refer to me by name despite the hurriedness and busyness of the bar and restaurant. He also asked every other guess their name and referred to them by their name for the rest of the evening also. Mario was attentive and friendly yet not overshadowing the time that I needed to enjoy my meal and drinks. The steak was cooked to perfection and serve with delicious sides. They are currently running a promotion where you can pre-pay for a Sam Adams beer and when a military person comes for a beer they present this token that I purchased and they can have a beer on me! As someone who's on the road quite often I will continue to stop at this chain because of the fabulous service of Mario. My previous career was a bartender and I can honestly say I didn't take the same time with my transient guests as I did with my regulars. This is not Mario's fashion and I gave him two thumbs up as well as the meal two thumbs up. I hope the management sees this and recognizes Mario for his excellent customer service. read more

The reason for the four star rating is due to the noise level. The music level makes it hard to have a conversation with your dinner companions. For a chain, it's not too bad. The steak is almost always tender, the portions are generous and the sides are flavorful and there are some healthier options. My difficulty with Texas Roadhouse is the atmosphere. It's one of those places where you can throw peanut shells (brought to your table as an "appetizer") on the floor, and people do. As a result, the floor never seems clean. Also, for some reason, every time I've been there the floor has been very sticky as well. The large dining room that seems to go on forever is cacophonously loud with music, talking and televisions all blaring at the same time. And there are SO many staff people on shift at the same time that you can barely get through the narrow aisles, and inevitably need to wait to be seated, to leave, or to use the restroom. Greeters, seaters (who ask you to choose a steak on your way to your seat), waitstaff, food server, bussers and managers clog the place to the brim. Heaven forbid you should be coming or going when the staff gather for periodic line dances in the center aisle (no, I'm not kidding). And if it's someone's birthday at the table next to you, get ready to hold your ears. Waitstaff must have to pass a decibel test before being hired. And it's apparently corporate policy to have staff accessible at all times. The waitstaff come to check on you many many times throughout your stay, and one of the managers will check on you as well. All of this interruption means you shouldn't expect to converse much with your dining partner (provided you could hear him/her) during your visit. One note on the food - the drinks are pretty light on the alcohol if you don't order a "kicker" - and I'm not much of a drinker. And unless you like your food VERY salty, ask them to hold the sirloin seasoning. read more
