I'm way up north here in Bellingham spending some time traveling around not for work for once. I saw that there's a Texas Roadhouse up here in Bellingham. I do notice in this Seattle area, there's a lot less chain restaurants, I guess maybe it's cause of the high sophistication of the foodies up here, there's less market for mainstream chain food places. I'm traveling around with a friend and I'll take him to Texas Roadhouse. I call in ahead and get us in line for a table. Parking is easy and we go in and I say I'm on the wait list. We get called in a few minutes. Getting seated we get these famous rolls and flavored butter. Biting in, I just remember these being better, like I just wanna eat these now good, but they were just rolls it seemed. Oh Well! Looking over the huge menu, I wanted something different than a steak or ribs. My friend wanted the Filet Medallions, 9 oz of filet Mignon sliced into medallions and served with a whisky peppercorn sauce. I decided on the Beef tips, served with a gravy and onions and mushrooms, sour cream and a baked potato. Each dish served with a Caesar salad. After we got our food, my friend raved about how he loved his Filet medallions! Mine, I sort of looked at it and decided , you know what, this looks just like beef stroganoff! It's served with sour cream and rice usually. The gravy smothered the onions and mushrooms and the meat was not the most tender at all. I think it wouldn't sell well calling this Stroganoff in a Texas restaurant! It was OK dish, maybe 3 stars, but I think I'd order something else next time. I'm glad my friend was wild about his filet medallions. Good visit, but maybe I'd better stick to steaks next time. read more

I was recently in Bellingham attending a VFW meeting and a group of us decided to stop at Texas Roadhouse before we went home. There were 7 of us gathered around a table meant for 6, but we are all friends and made it work. After agonizing over the menu with oh so many delicious possibilities, I chose the 8oz Sirloin steak a Shrimp dinner. That came with my choice of two sides and I opted for the side salad and buttered corn. That side salad was awesome! I've had side salads like this once or twice and each time they're incredible. Normally, side salads are a bowl of lettuce with one small wedge of tomato, maybe a cucumber slice, a few shavings of lettuce and that's it. Not at Texas Roadhouse! My side salad had several tomato wedges, egg, carrot shavings, shredded cheese, and the softest crunchy croutons I have ever had! My sirloin steak was cooked perfectly with almost no fat and the steak was tender and flavorful. The grilled shrimp were served on two bamboo skewers with 3 or 4 shrimp per skewer. Craved Texas Roadhouse so we drove hours to satisfy that craving. It's hard to say if we were satisfied but I will say it felt nostalgic to experience the roadhouse since it's been so long. Started off with a house salad which was good but the ranch was a little thick for me. Next we had the blooming onion which was pretty heavy and greasy but nostalgic. The taste was good however the sauce wasn't incredibly horseradish-y so I did not like it one bit. The steaks were good but nothing special. It took us a little over six months after the opening to finally try the new Texas Roadhouse in Bellingham--and this review is about two months after that first visit. Growing up in Tennessee, I already knew what kind of food the chain offered. Bellingham doesn't have many chain restaurants, so having this as an option for family dining is a great addition. Surprise bonus--the price for a steak dinner here is really good for the quality. You can get a solid steak for under $30, and it comes with two sides and fresh bread. My husband and I first came and found seats around the bar. Pro tip: to avoid the long wait, head to the bar area. If you're lucky, you can snag a seat right away. I've heard the table wait can be long, which makes sense given the limited family dining options nearby. I ordered the sirloin and rib combo with a side Caesar salad and corn. My steak was cooked perfectly medium, with a slight pink center. The salad was good--the server mentioned they make their own salad dressing--but I wasn't a fan of the corn. I was expecting corn on the cob, but it tasted like canned corn. My husband ordered the sirloin and grilled shrimp combo with loaded potatoes and green beans. He enjoyed both sides and his steak, though we both thought the shrimp could have been larger. Overall, at about $30 a plate, the meals were worth it--mainly for the steak, not so much for the sides. Had an ok experience. It's a standard Texas Roadhouse environment minus the peanut shells on the floor. The music is a bit loud so conversing is a bit of a challenge. The bathrooms were kind of a train wreck but it was dinner time. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful with some menu questions. I was a little disappointed with the food. This place does the classic bait-and-switch on customers. We came here with two families and their children after receiving emails about a Tuesday Kid's Night. The promotional email stated clearly that there would be ice cream, coloring contest, and prizes (see posted screenshot of email). I called into the restaurant the day before and they even said there'll be someone making balloon figures. I go that day, and there was nothing at all in the kids section. So much for "We'll take care of the cooking for the adults and provide activities for the kiddos". The hostess at the front was rude and basically shrugged it off when I asked them about the false promises. There were many families there for the same thing, "Kid's Night", so the wait was over one hour. We ended up having to eat elsewhere. This business is beyond bad. They are unethical. read more

I finally got to try this chain for the first time ever and it was pretty good. The 12oz steak is enough to feed two people for under $30 or you can get two 6oz for $19 each and two sides. The green beans are very smokey but a nice change. The baked potato is standard but beware they don't provide much sour cream when you order to go. The rolls are very sweet but also soft and delicious. The free peanuts are also a nice touch. The steak itself was seasoned properly but nothing to rave about. The service was fast and friendly. Not sure where exactly to start this time... basic American food. Yes lots of choices of steaks however were overcooked. Husband asked for medium received almost well done... My burger was dry not enough juiciness or sauce... I did like their fried pickles and buffalo boneless wings those are really delicious. Service was okay but I had to yell my order so she could hear cause it is very loud inside. Also they do some dance shows or some other fun stuff however again they do it all in one specific row so other rows barely see anything. I couldn't enjoy country dances because I had back table. Tried coming to this Texas Roadhouse a couple of times but never wanted to wait for a table. Finally timed a visit where we arrived just before the restaurant opened. Service was absolutely top tier - friendly, accurate, attentive, and knowledgeable. Food was great and met the hype. Blooming onion was crazy huge and fried perfectly with a tasty dipping sauce. Steaks were tender and juicy without any of the tendon parts that even premium steakhouses give you. Not a single piece of gristle or fatty tendon could be found on our sirloin cuts. Baked potatoes were nicely dressed. Drinks were cold, refreshing and refills came early and often. The only "meh" item was maybe the salad which had some wilted, orange leafs of iceberg. But a quick comment to the waitress and a fresh salad with everything corrected came right out. Pricing was very reasonable - but the one demerit was not being transparent on the up charges for the bake potato extras like bacon. As a long time loyal Texas Roadhouse customer, I truly appreciate them finally opening up a public location in WA. Since they just opened recently, they were packed and the waitlist was incredibly long. We joined the waitlist at 4:30pm and did not get seated until 8:34 pm. Despite the long wait time, we had a great experience with impeccable service. The staff was incredibly kind and brought us the rolls immediately upon seating. Since we had been waiting so long to be seated, we ordered immediately when the waitress came. The appetizers were fast, and the waitresses was very attentive to us and made sure that our cups were never empty. There was some delay but it was expected since this is a brand new location. The rolls were amazing, steaks were cooked perfectly and overall the food was as great as it always is. The only thing that could have been better was the mashed potatoes which knocked them down to 4 stars. They were slightly more runny than usual but other than that everything was great! The location overall was very lively and packed, there wasn't a single empty table even while we were dining late towards closing time. We went on a Sunday and did not finish eating until 9:35pm but still saw people waiting to be seated when they closed at 10pm. First off I didn't know there was a Texas Roadhouse here until my daughter told me. We went tonight (Friday) and it was crowded and busy but despite that we were seated in a reasonable amount of time. The online waitlist helped immensely. We've been to other Texas Roadhouses so we knew what to expect. We expected it to be loud but this place was deafening. I couldn't hear Mrs Billy D and she was right next to me. Our grandson didn't seem to mind but I found it slightly annoying. My daughter wanted steak and a potato and she was not disappointed. We all ordered a steak except I went BIG. I got the 23 oz Porterhouse. I had no business eating a steak like that but America is a free country so I was all in. I asked for medium rare and they overcooked it to about medium but that was okay. I shared some of it and there was a bone so it wasn't all 23oz's. Yeah I keep telling myself that. The place was crowded and loud but the service was spot on. Our server was friendly and efficient. I wish I would have gotten his name. I couldn't quite get it off his name tag. They have a pretty good system going there. We wanted for nothing and weren't neglected at all. We were in town and I remembered that Texas Roadhouse opened last year so we decided to stop for a late dinner, around 8pm. It wasn't too busy but we were told there would be a short wait for a table or we could sit at the bar if we wanted to sit right away. We were actually thinking about having a drink as well so it was an easy choice to sit at the bar. Our bartender/waitress was super nice. She gave us menus and took our drink orders, followed by our food orders shortly after. My husband got a beer and I ordered a Texas Peach Fuzz. My drink was delicious, I'd definitely get it again. I joined the VIP Club recently and had a free appetizer so we used that to get fried pickles which were great! They were thin but not overcooked. The ranch and Cajun sauces were both really good too. Our entrees showed up not too long after the fried pickles and wow they were enormous! My husband ordered the 23oz Porterhouse T-Bone and it was cooked perfectly. I got the Country Fried Sirloin. It was so massive, it took up the whole plate and they served both of my sides on a separate plate. It was also delicious. We both got mashed potatoes with brown gravy. The shrimp was very good, the ribs were okay. My wife had the steak smothered in mushrooms. Those mushrooms were delicious. She said the steak was alright.
