I remember a decade ago when you would walk through piles of peanut shells, surrounded by screaming kids, waiting in line just to pick out your cut, all for a merely okay steak. This time around, the steak was good, though nothing particularly special. Surprisingly, the fries were the highlight of the meal. Our server unfortunately forgot our drinks and, instead of simply owning up to the mistake, made an excuse about needing to change a keg, despite the fact that only one of us had actually ordered a beer. We've been to this location a few times and it's always been good, however, this evening we simply placed a to go order for a family meal after receiving a gift card for the holidays. Let me tell you, after working every holiday last year, finishing a bunch of overtime, and being too tired to cook, the food was absolutely FANTASTIC! I know this is a chain with a well known menu, but our food was so fresh and hot. Not to mention how generous the portions were (and we've tried quite a few family meals from different places) the staff was so friendly, and generous with condiments and utensils and asked how everything looked. First time at Texas Roadhouse and thoroughly enjoyed my meal here! Came in around 5pm on a Friday and it was pretty full. Most tables were taken. When we left, there was a wait. Ordered the cactus bloom and the prime rib. The rolls and cinnamon butter were delicious. The cactus bloom was so good and a great appetizer to start the meal. The prime rib was juicy. The sweet potato was decent and paired well with the butter. The mac & cheese was good. I also tried the shrimp and ribs. They were also flavored nicely. Service was nice and friendly as well. I took advantage of the advance waitlist available online. When we arrived, we scarcely waited 2 minutes for our table. The service was prompt and friendly. They provided a kids menu without having to request one. I ordered the prime rib medium rare with raw horseradish and a loaded potato. It was cooked to temp and seasoned well. The piece I had was rightly marbled with enough but not too much fat. My daughter ordered the sirloin and enjoyed almost the entire thing. Decided to stop in for a Labor Day early dinner. We were greeted by our server John shortly after arriving at our table. A guilty pleasure. Food is always gluttonous and amazing. Got the shrimp entree with a baked potato and Caesar salad - delicious. Great portions as well, most places skimp on the shrimp but they give you 10 good sized pieces. As I entered this restaurant, I was quickly seated at a booth like table and was immediately given a warm, soft and tasty basket of delicious rolls. There are menus hanging on the wall next to the table and a automatic ordering kiosk on the table, should you prefer this over talking to a member of the wait staff. After a few mins of perusing the menu I came upon a steak and potato meal that fit my culinary delights and informed my waitress thusly. Not more than 5 mins had elapsed when my salad had arrived, it was fresh and crisp and then approximately 15 mins after that my steak was ready. It was hot, juicy and prepared just right. Service staff was excellent, friendly and prompt. Normal efficient cook staff was lacking. They forgot to bring our salads, and got the side dishes messed up. Also and this is a big one the staff needs to make sure when people order tea the staff knows if it is sweet tea or.unsweetned. Two of our group are diabetic and got sweetened tea. Went to the Texas Roadhouse near Hampden & Santa Fe where we have gone several times before & it usually great, but today the cooks must not have been able to read what the waitress wrote down. My husband asked for NO seasoning on his 6 oz. steak & of course it came out with a bunch of salt on it! His baked potato looked like it was baked the day before & warmed up! I asked for the Road Kill (hamburger patty with cheese etc) & asked for it to be well done...you guessed it, it came back with a heck of a lot of pink in it! I ate mostly around the edges as they weren't quite as pink..had a good baked sweet potato, but it wasn't very hot! The waitress never asked us to cut into our meat to see if cooked OK...we are not complainers but today definitely had a cook & waitress who just didn't seem to care. My wife and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and went to our favorite location Texas Roadhouse 3696 S. Natches Ct. Sheridan Co. My wife had suffered a bad accident and couldn't walk without difficulty and asked if we could sit where she could get in and out without hurting herself. The hostess tried to seat us in a corner of the restaurant surrounded by tables and people that looked impossible for her to get in never mind out. We had driven quite aways so asked again if they could possibly have some consideration and seat her in dozens of booths that were empty with the exception of a couple of these booths occupied. The hostess met with the seating organizer up at the front desk and she said the bar area is the only other option to serve us which was more crowded than the first option. We then reluctantly left and made the long drive back home. We have never been treated like this in previous visits and were surprised even at our senior age, that there wasn't even a small amount of consideration for my wife having this medical problem apparent with walking devices just wanting access to seating. Would like to hear from a manager that cares about people at this location still. Does anyone care about anyone anymore. What do you think? read more
