I love this place. Great atmosphere, great service, and freakin' awesome steak. I'm a carnivore at heart, and their bone-in ribeye sings to me! They season their steaks really well, and they are always fine cuts. My steak is always cooked perfectly. I've never had to send one back. My only critique is that they tone down that blasted birthday shout thing that they do. I like the loud music and loud chatter from diners, but somebody standing 1 table away shouting as loud as they can? It makes me want to get medieval with my fork to shut them up. That's their Achilles heal, IMO. But I will ALWAYS come back for that amazing ribeye. read more

After coming here a couple more times, I feel like this Texas Roadhouse deserves a better rating from me. Everything I have ever ordered here has been exceptional, and the staff are about as good as you can expect from a chain restaurant. I've never had anything I don't like here, and yes, the servers do often try to upgrade you to loaded fries, etc. but they're just doing their job! That one waitress was extremely pushy and annoying however, but I've put that behind me. I feel crazy doing this, because it's very hard to get 5 stars from me, and my previous review was pretty poor, but with how good the food has been each time I've been here, and overall things going smoothly, this Texas Roadhouse gets 5 stars in my book. The table seemed clean, but my eyes were immediately drawn to the seats in the booth. There was leftover fries in the creases and the side my kids sat on had crumbs all over. Wife and 2 sons ordered steak. 2 medium well and 1 medium rare. When the steaks arrived. 1 was raw in the middle. One of the medium well steaks was over cooked passed well done. The other medium well was rare to medium rare. Sent the medium rare and raw one back. 25-30 minutes later. Our fod was brought back. My wife had lost her appetite and noticed multiple tables that were complaining of the same issues. She asked to have her meal taken off the check and the manager was happy to do so. My son's steak that was brought back was half cooked. I HATE sending food back and was not about to complain AGAIN! The service and the way were treated was reassuring. What happened to quality food and good service?!? We used to love this place. We would go here for special occasions. So naturally, we went there yesterday (04-22-2018) to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Our server made us feel like he rather be doing something else than serve us. He got our order wrong, to begin with, even though we stated it -- twice. He still got it wrong. Our food was slightly warm, borderline cold. I was tempted to ask if they had a microwave in the back to reheat my food. We just ate what we could and got the rest to go. We just wanted to get out of there. We asked for water along with our drinks, our server never brought us the water we asked for. I don't think we'll go back to this location. I rather drive down to the Riverdale location and dine there, at least, from our experience, they're consistently good and have decent service at that location, and they don't treat their guests like they're a nothing more than an inconvenience and an interruption to whatever the server's putting their first priority on. Gee, I thought that first priority would be making a guest feel welcomed and be served good food. I guess I thought wrong. Lastly, cold mashed potatoes and gravy is gross. I came in here about half an hour to closing, and I applaud my server for the patience of taking my order and serving me so close to closing. The rest of the team was a bit over zealous in trying to clean up for closing for the night. As soon as I ordered my food and drink, my server quickly brought out the drink. I went to wash my hands, and when I returned, my table had been cleared like I was never there. Thankfully, my food hadn't been served yet, so it was the loss of an iced tea. This is a Texas Roadhouse. Just eat the dinner rolls and peanuts, and you will be happy. Just kidding... sort of. I can't let go of those dinner rolls. However, if you do want to order some other food, they do have a menu with BBQ on it. I ordered the Filet and Ribs combo. It came with a bowl of chili and a sweet potato loaded with marshmallows. The filet was very tender, and I was able to cut it with a butter knife and the meat did not require any additional seasoning. The ribs were well smoked and the meat was tender and fell off the bone quite easily. The bowl of chili was very salty and flavorful, albeit a bit too salty. It was filled covered in fresh onions and cheese, and just the chili alone with the dinner rolls, it would have been a complete meal. The sweet potato was fresh out of the oven. Whats there not to love about Texas Roadhouse?! If you need a steak this place has your fix. This place was long in the making in Layton before they built this place the nearest one was in Riverdale. I usually order a cowboy cut steak. Always fills me up to the top. I don't think Ive ever left this place hungry. Just like all the other Texas Roadhouse restaurants its got the vibe and feel. Theres music playing people talking and peanut shells on the ground. If the rolls don't keep you coming back then the steak will. Well damn, we're from Texas and we don't even get this kind of nice hospitality at our own roadhouses. Gave us a warm welcome. They asked and we let them know it was our first time here at this location and that we're actually from Texas. The host went and got a manager to let her know it was our first time and so she came out with some smoked ribs on the house. Service was great. Food was up to par. Tastes as good as back down in Texas. They even gave us a coupon for another free appetizer when we come back next time. The vibe there was just good all around. Allows the paying customer have to sit outside in the cold. The call ahead would be a good idea if used at this location correctly. It's hard to do when your hosts and hosted are children employees that are more focused on their phones. Then when our whole party is here they took a party that was 20 minutes late over us. We went here tonight because my sons school was doing a thing and part of our check would go back to the school. So it was for a good cause. Service wasn't bad. It was actually fairly decent (which is why I've rated this a star to begin with) however the servers were not very informative on much unless asked. Like when I asked why they were wearing super hero shirts. Normally you're sat down and told what the specials are... Not here! Not even a hint on what they are! But they are friendly and smile. So 1 star for that. The food was.... Well it was kind of awful. We got there at 6:30 and they were completely out of all prime rib. They did know weeks+ in advance that they were going to have more traffic on this night but whatever. So I ordered the 12oz NY Strip. I figure it's a couple bucks more so it should be at least as good, right? NOPE! It was rather gross. It was tough and chewy (I had medium so it should not have been as tough as it was). The flavor was horrible and was pretty much salt and season salt. I also ordered mushrooms and onions on top. I got way way too many onions and 4 small mushroom halves. My husband had the full rack of ribs and he generally eats a lot! He didn't finish his either because they weren't very good. Another person in our group ordered the shrimp & said the flavor was good but it was definitely over cooked and hard to peel. All in all the service was good the food was awful. Had we not been with a group I would have returned the food to the kitchen, paid for my salad and called it a night. From what we had, I do not recommend the food here at all & do not plan on attending future fundraiser events here. I think I'll beg the PTA to go to outback instead! read more

A.MAZ.ING! From the service to the food to the overall atmosphere - this was one of the very best dining experiences I have ever had and that is saying something! First off - It was a busy night when we went. Kind of a surprise to me for a Wednesday night... Not many open tables at all. But we got in and seated quickly. Our server Annie was on top of EVERYTHING. Fast (Like SUPER fast), friendly (Amazingly positive and upbeat), attentive (Yes, SUPER attentive), helpful, professional. The whole nine yards. Now, it may seem a small thing but my family is like a collection of dry sponges - we drink our water like it is going out of style. Downing six or seven glasses of water at dinner (Yeah, crazy, I know) is not unheard of for just ME, much less my wife and four kids. Even covering several other tables, not ONE of our water glasses ever reached anything less than half-full - and that was just the beginning of this tremendous experience. In short, a good dining experience usually starts with the Server you get and it can be a crapshoot. In this case, Annie was the PERFECT level of just always being there when we needed her. An absolutely 5-Star rating for her. On to the food: With seven people (me, my wife and four kids, and my sister from Chicago in town joining us for dinner - her treat, as usual!) we had several appetizers that were excellent - the combo platter (tater skins, boneless chicken wings, etc), cheese fries and shrimp skewers... all were delivered very quickly and piping hot. The shrimp "popped" when you bit into them and the tater skins and chicken were flavorful and tender. In a previous TRH trip to another location, we had a bad experience with the cheese fries came out a cold, congealed lump of plastic on top of cold to lukewarm fries. Not here. Cheese was still "melty" and good. And things just got better from there... our entrees/sides were: - 11oz top sirloins for my two boys, 11 & 13 (Mashed taters/corn) - Chicken strip dinner for my 9-year old daughter - The mac & cheese kid's dinner for my 6-year old - Half slab of ribs for my sister (Green beans/sweet potato) - Steak Kabob for my wife (Steamed veggies/Caesar salad) - 12oz NY Strip for me (Baked potato/House Salad) Every. Single. Dinner. was excellent. Truly. The steaks were all done to medium perfection. Tender & tasty. No need for steak sauce here! We almost didn't need a knife! The ribs literally fell off the bone and were sweet and tangy. The sides were hot, fresh and flavorful. My sister even commented on how great the salads looked - fresh, with the perfect amount of tomatoes, cheese, carrots, a chopped boiled egg and crisp croutons. It was more like a meatless chef salad! The romaine lettuce in the caesar was crisp, the croutons were crunchy and the dressing was tangy like a good caesar should be. Literally the only issue we had was when the Mac & Cheese first came out, it looked and tasted more like Mac & Mac (Not a lot of cheese flavor or sauce). :) Annie gladly took it to the kitchen and was back in just a few minutes with a new bowl that was hot and cheesy. We were so impressed with this experience that my sister (Who dines out often in higher-end restaurants in Chicago) left a 32% tip, specifically went looking for Annie to thank her for such wonderful service and asked to speak to the Managing Partner (Abel Botello) who was delighted to hear how well our visit had gone. Honestly, Abel reminded me of the owner of a single-location restaurant who knows and greets his customers, personally. Grateful, gracious and professional, it is clear, at least to us, why this TRH is so amazing Honestly, I don't often go nuts over the standard "casual dining" fare or experience but, in this case, it was so outstanding, I had to take the time to let people know. I am looking forward to the next time my family gets hungry for steak as we will literally drive the 30 minutes to go to this TRH, passing several closer, more convenient options in the process. Personal this is the works steakhouse I've been to. The restaurant was busy but after we sat it took them almost 1 hour to bring us the wrong food for a different table. When we did get our food my medium well cooked steak was still bloody and my food was cold. Our server was very slow and didn't bring us anything we asked for such as drinks of sauce for our food. If I could give only half a star I would I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant in my entire life. I would never recommend coming here. read more

Always a great steak if you don't mind the deafening noise! The food is great, at our table we had steak, baked potatoes and shrimp and all were pretty tasty. They were out of prime rib so my husband was a little disappointed but that's ok. We have 4 kids and their kids menu is great, much better than the normal hot dog or chicken strips options. Our daughter who is 12 is able to get a small steak and we love that it doesn't break the bank. We do feel a little snug like there is just enough room to pack everyone in and the servers to walk around but there is little room to spare. This adds to the noise because you are close together and the music is crazy loud! Not so bad once you have ordered but you do have to shout if you want to talk to anyone. We sat outside for literally 18 min in the freezing cold (thinking less than 5 min. I finally decided to come back in and check on wait times. Now the hostess that has taken over says - yea, we don't have you on the list. Showing her the "this restaurant is expecting you screen she says- Yelp doesn't talk to our system. Still keeping my cool we ordered right off (we had plenty of time outside to decide what we wanted) I asked if I could get my salad to go. No problem. First off, let me say that I love Texas Roadhouse and have nothing against the restaurant, HOWEVER, this particular chain was disgraceful. Firstly, my brother and I both ordered soft drinks which did not arrive until over halfway through the meal and only when reminded MULTIPLE times did the waitress bring the drinks. That was annoying, but I wouldn't give the joint a 1-star review for that. I WILL give the joint a 1-star review for serving completely raw chicken to my sister on their Critter Salad. The chicken was literally pink and mushy in the center. We saved the piece and informed the manager (to prevent any further contamination in the kitchen and to let the staff know that perhaps their fryer wasn't up to temperature or something). The salad, after being contaminated with raw meat, was inedible. The manager didn't think so and managed to throw in a THIRTY percent discount on the salad as compensation for potential salmonella poisoning. Needless to say, I was beyond annoyed for being charged for 2 drinks that didn't come and a salad that wasn't eatable. I definitely won't be dining at this location ever, ever again. Went here today for lunch and had a great experience. We were seated right away and our waiter who I think his name was Mike, came soon after for our drink order. We didn't wait long for anything. Which was very nice. Our food was great. We had refills before we even noticed we needed more. Everything we asked for was brought out quickly, and never forgotten. My hubby and I come here at least 4-5 times a month. The food is consistently good. We love grabbing a spot at the bar. It's fairly easy to find a spot even on very busy nights. The servers are always great. We have used the call a head seating in the past and now use the NoWait app. Both are great options for grabbing a spot in line. read more
