I have been to this particular location a handful of times in the past two years. If the last impression is your first impression, then by all means SKIP this place so you don't live to regret it like myself. I ordered the Joey Sirloin from the kid's menu which is supposed to be a 5 oz well done sirloin steak. You also get a small beverage of your choice, along with a side, and their complimentary bread. I have ordered this particular entree before with zero problems. That was not the case this last time. The first thing that I noticed was how TINY the sirloin steak was. It was basically a few bites. Pulled out my scale, and low and behold it came in weighing barely 2 oz, not 5 oz as advertised! I took photos for reference. This was a takeout order. I've always appreciated the fact that my meals come in sturdy brown paper bags stapled for freshness and safety. Well....I should have opened the bag right then and there in the store! The side that I requested was the Caesar salad and they had put the hot sirloin on top of it in the bag, so by the time I got home the lettuce was hot and wilting...but that wasn't the worst part. Oh, no. They put their few "good" lettuce leaves on top only for me to find brown, bruised, AND dirty leaves throughout. I am not kidding you, the salad had NOT been washed! I've NEVER encountered that anywhere! Rotten leaves? Yes. Dirty leaves that you could actually see AND taste? No!!! I did attempt to try it until I realized it was all filthy unwashed produce. The "complimentary bread" was not in tinfoil. It was just thrown by itself in the brown paper bag with no whipped butter, no utensils...no nothing. The small beverage had no ice and was also warm. It wasn't even hot out and this was a late evening pick-up. Never, EVER again. I cannot believe their prices here and the garbage that they serve. Guess I should be grateful it was only from the cheaper kid's menu though I actually was going to order A LOT more but something called intuition stopped me. Thank GOD for that. read more

5-star service, won't be back for the food. The restaurant was 1/2 empty on a weekend night. That should've been a clue. We paid $100 for 2 meals, including tip. No drinks, no appetizers. My husband's steak, ordered medium-well, was cooked rare on 1/2, well-done other half. Uneven cooktop? I don't know how that could happen. The mashed potatoes are instant with some baked potato chunks stirred in. Rice is instant. For that price point, we should receive real food. Salad was drenched in a thick layer of mayo/ranch. I have been to Outback Steakhouses quite a few times growing up but this was an extraordinary experience. For one, I live under a rock and did not know that Outback is an Australian-based restaurant. So for Aussie Day, my friend invited me to join her at Outback Steakhouse and I was quite confused on the connection. Don't worry, I get it now. She had reserved three large tables in the middle of the restaurant for our celebration. The waiting staff was so nice and so patient with us, from beginning to end. We were there almost 30 minutes early but they let us sit down anyways. The fact that the tables were already ready for us was just as impressive. Their cocktails looked really good and I debated between the Pina Koala and the Strawberry Kiwi 'Rita. I asked the server which one was better--without hesitation, she said the Strawberry Kiwi 'Rita is better so that's just the one I ordered. She was right--the drink was absolutely delicious! The one downside is it would be nice to have a bigger straw. The chunks of strawberry were a bit difficult to slurp up. One of the people in our party decided to order the bloomin' onion. I am so glad he did because I forgot how good these are! It would've been nice if it came with more sauce, however. Only one little cup for the whole onion is a bit crazy. There are so many options with Outback's menu. I really had no idea what I wanted to order except for all of it. I was initially set on ordering the filet mignon but changed my mind last minute and ordered the sirloin with chicken. I am so glad I did because their chicken is a whole experience--it is delicious! I got the loaded mashed potatoes and a caesar salad for my two sides. Admittedly, there is another steakhouse chain that you can probably guess, that does a much better job with their salads. My salad wasn't bad but it wasn't cut very well, had quite a few bad pieces of lettuce, and lacked in sauce. Again, wasn't bad, just wasn't amazing either. The loaded mashed potatoes were really good! I actually meant to order the loaded baked potato. I am not sure what happened but this was still a delicious side. As aforementioned, the service during this experience was pretty phenomenal. Everyone was so nice with us and kept a really good attitude. Though, I am sure it was stressful having this many people at once. I don't live anywhere even relatively close to Layton, but I would visit again if I am in the area. Did a family dinner outing, as we were craving steak! Was hoping it wasn't busy as it was a Friday night. We got there around 7:00 and got right in. It was a little busy but there was no wait, which was great! Our waitress came to our table and took our drink orders. She brought out complimentary bread, which was warm and delish. She was very tentative and always checked on us. The entrees we ordered were great portions and great flavor! By the time we left around 8ish the restaurant was pretty empty. We had an reservation at 6pm for 12, we called 2 times in advance to make sure we still had that reservation but when we came to eat they told us they had given our reservation to someone else because they were older. We had made it multiple days in advance. Extremely disappointed in the hostess and staff for letting this happen. From my 12 year old son: Me and my mom were going out to eat and I chose Outback Steakhouse. We got seated and ordered. My salad, with no dressing, was slimy. We got steaks and they tasted like tires and poop. The baked potatoes tasted like they were weeks old and growing eyes...our potatoes were juicier than the steaks. The green beans tasted like cleaner. I just got home and vomited and my throat feels like it has a layer on it. My muscles, head, and stomach are hurting so badly. There's a sign in the lobby saying we make perfect steaks guaranteed. But, that's not true. Don't recommend is an understatement. Never go here. You might as well use your cash on fire starters. We come here at least once a month for an in town steak dinner. We always have amazing service and are pleased with the atmosphere and cleanliness. We love to start with the bacon cheese fries with their delicious special ranch dipping sauce. The garden salad and Cesar salad are fresh and delicious! Entrees we love, filet, ribeye, Alice springs chicken, and salmon. Also the coconut shrimp is DELICIOUS! We can always count on a great meal especially for the price. Terrible terrible TERRIBLE!!!!!! While I know that going to a restaurant on a Friday night means that you're going to have to wait for a little while, we decided to brave it anyway. We saved our spot online for 6 people for a 6:30 reservation. We arrived and there were not as many people as we anticipated there would be, and sat down in the waiting room. I went to the desk and informed them that we had arrived but that two more people had joined us. The server said "no problem, we can add two more to the reservation but it will probably be another 15-20 minutes." Perfect, no worries. - The clock hit 6:45: nothing... no big deal, they said it'd take at least 15 minutes. - Clock hit 6:50: still nothing... still not really a big deal, the restaurant started getting busier, so I understood. - Clock hit 6:55: nothing... still not that big of a deal, but now we are starting to get really hungry and happen to see a couple smaller groups that arrived after us getting their name called. -Clock hit 7:00: nothing... now started seeing every group that was behind us getting called up but figured with a larger group, it would take slightly longer, but still getting annoyed because we haven't heard a word. -Clock hit 7:05: nothing... now getting pretty frustrated as basically every person that arrived 10-15 minutes after us had cleared the waiting room. My daughter came to me asking if we were going to eat soon and I could only tell her, "I don't know." I decided at this point to actually ask about our reservation that was now 20 minutes past when we were told our table would be ready. We go to the counter to ask, and they can't find our name anywhere on the list. Obviously I'm furious as we waited nearly 40 minutes to eat, and were told our reservation was no longer there. Customer service was good. Ambience was fine. Drinks were great. Pick almost every other restaurant I tried in this town the food was abysmal. I ordered a rare steak. It came out almost well done they fixed it but as is normally the case when a restaurant makes an error in how I like my steak done. I'm basically sitting there full by the time my actual rare steak comes out. The appetizer mushrooms are great, but you got to eat them while they're hot because if you let them sit for too long, even just 15 minutes, the texture is like some thing that's been fried the day before. OKAYYYY SO IMPRESSED. Everything was wonderful, from the service to the food, I would go back in a heartbeat. Our waiter (Zach) was extremely helpful. He was quick to grab our drink orders and patient while we asked him every question in the book about items on the menu--I'm not kidding when I said we asked all the questions. The Mac was dense and delicious, the soup had great flavor, the steaks were as good as they could be, and the fries had some seasoning on them that made them easy to inhale. As we were devouring our meal like a pack of ravenous animals, there were multiple waiters that would stop by and ensure everything met our standards. I'm actually certain I had BBQ sauce dripping from my mouth when someone came by. It's too bad I couldn't eat with my mask on, because that could've saved me from that embarrassment. I ordered a ribeye. It was the worst steak I have ever had. It was seemingly overcooked. The texture was odd. It was lacking in flavor and seemed like it had maybe been microwaved. There was nothing good about it. I had a few bites and fed the rest of it to my dog. The burger that my friend ordered was not good either the meat was very crumbly. We thought possibly it was just a fluke I mean everyone has their off days but three times in a row we had to part ways with OutBack. After a two year break we thought we would give them another try. What used to be a packed restaurant around dinner time was practically empty and the service was mediocre at best. The food was not seasoned well and not cooked to request. And the prices on the menu were outrageous for what you receive. You can go to any other stake house in the same category and expect to pay about $30.00+ less. I've been visiting this franchise chain over the years and have decided that the inconsistencies in quality as service really come down to the individual management. This location is one of the cleanest and the staff is super friendly! Whenever I'm in Layton for business I try to stop in for their signature yummy coconut shrimp! It has always been a winner and the dipping sauce is perfect!! I can walk over from the hotel and relax in a comfy environment - it's just enough for a light meal or a great size to share. Haven't been to outback for a couple of years because food was poor and also service. We tried going today and no waiting, great service and the food was delicious! The dessert we ordered wasn't available so they took our second choice then added ice cream and chocolate syrup along with the original dessert. It was soooo good and made our experience fun! Took my wife here for an early dinner. We had the two house specials. The 18 oz steak was cooked to a perfect medium and the lobster tails were tender but had some grit in both of them. They were out of crab cakes but offered a good substitute item. Zane was our host and really did a good job staying on top of things. We would totally ask for him the next time we go back. Relaxed and clean environment but also went when it wasn't very busy, just wish they would space out the guest when there is a lot of empty table instead of seating everyone so close. We called ahead to get our name on the list. They don't take 'reservations' but it was basically the same thing!! We got seated right away & had yummy bread on the table. The butter was whipped & delish! This was my first time here, but Zack took good care of us!! Kept out drinker filled & bread supply up. We were craving Coconut Shrimp & daaaang it was so good!!! The sauce was this yummy orange glaze & I couldn't get enough on each bite! We also got the French onion soup & fries, as well as a steak with mashed potatoes. It was perfect!!!
