Kids had the rib kids meal and the Andy's steak. App for us was the onion cactus blossom, that is dangerously good. We also had a rib and shrimp dinner, I had the salmon and a side salad, while my husband had a porterhouse t-bone. Free peanuts and the rolls for starters are really soft and delicious with their sweet butter. FYI - not a peanut free facility for anyone that has allergies! There is also a warning of peanut dust. Dine in at Texas Roadhouse in Mt Prospect Illinois this evening. 08/08/25. I ordered the combo steak and ribs, with onions and mushroom, side of baked potatoes and corn As I was eating and enjoying my meal, ate about 3/4 of my steak, as chew my steak it tasted like I was chewing paper and when I cut the steak for my third bite, there was a piece of paper (look like a reciept paper) that was embedded under my entire steak! I called a server nearby and showed her what was on my plat- "paper", she offered replacement. I asked for the manager on duty- Roxanne. Manager came, I showed her my plate of steak and ribs with paper embedded under the steak. Her comment "oh it was a paper from". I immediately stopped her and responded "Yes, it's a paper and it does t matter where it was from! A paper on my plate of steak!" I got upset not only because I was serve with dirty, and yes it is dirty food, and instead of the Manager apologizing, her comment was appalling! As if it was no big deal! No apologies whatsoever!...which is very upsetting and dissatisfying! Our family is a frequent customer at the same location, ate there almost twice a month especially in special occasions. We've been coming to Texas Roadhouse since they opened in Mt. Prospect. Always had a great experience. Tonight, at about 5:30pm, I ordered the pulled pork dinner. After a few minutes the waitress returned to say they didn't have pulled pork. I was disappointed, but I ordered a half rack. We got our salads and had barely begun to eat when our dinners arrived. So do we eat the salad and let our dinner get cold or just forget the salad. We all had ribs and they were impossible to cut and very tough. Heard so many good things about this place so we gave it a try and what an utter disappointment. I took my family of five and the wait was about an hour which kind of set our expectation pretty high. I mean, it must be good when it's crowded right, wrong! I know my steaks so I went with the cowboy cut and ordered the bone-in ribeye medium rare. It was thin, very bland, and overcooked. My wife had the 6oz filet which looked like it was cooked in a school cafeteria. I can't believe the chef, if that's what they're called, who probably cooks on avg hundreds of steaks a night can overcook one of the fattier cuts of meat to make it dry. I never complain about my meal and rarely accept a handout but I had to say something when our bill came out to $168 between two adults and 3 kids. Didn't get a sympathetic apology from the waiter when he even admitted it wasn't medium rare. I stopped him before he tried to offer something on the house because it's not about the price. I had fully intended on spending $200 for our dinner if the quality justified the price which it didn't. Had the worst service ever. I LOVE Texas Roadhouse so I decided to go there for my birthday with family. There was 6 of us & a child. From the beginning there were mistakes happening. My drink came out wrong. Then both mine and my father's salads came out wrong. Took forever just to get silverware, napkins, more dressing, boxes, never once asked about refills on drinks. My steak came out really fatty and chewy which was a first for me. It was so bad that I couldn't even eat it. Not once did a manager come by to check on us nor after complaining about the steak did one come to ask about it. It took forever for her to take my birthday free appetizer off and I had to ask to get my steak removed off the bill since it wasn't eaten or replaced. Took way too long to get boxes, so at this rate I skipped the birthday dessert because that would've just taken another 30 minutes and we had plans afyerwards which we almost missed on time. Don't think I will ever be returning back to this location. Definitely not a nice birthday dinner what so ever. While you wouldn't exactly consider the food here to be Michelin star level, for a budget chain steakhouse option, Texas Roadhouse is stands out as one of the options I'd choose more than others. For me, this location has better food than other locations I've tried in the state as well. Parking here isn't too difficult, with a fairly spacious lot located a little off Rand Road (with the light and without a direct turn into the restaurant, this also makes it easier to get in and out as well). The restaurant often gets quite busy, so consider putting yourself on the waitlist unless you're visiting fairly early or late in the day. Service is alright, fairly friendly though not the fastest (which is to be expected for how busy the restaurant is). Decor is good, with nice themed walls and a brightly lit interior. Menu choices are about what you'd expect for a restaurant like this, with a good variety of all the favorites. Prices are a bit on the low side, particularly if you come for early bird specials. The food was quite good here, very similar to pricier options at other restaurants. Here are thoughts on items I tried: Buttered rolls with cinnamon butter: When fresh and hot out of the oven, these rolls are quite good though not as special once they've cooled down a bit. The star here really is the cinnamon butter which is quite creamy and tasty (though not the most amazing version I've had of this either). Porkchop: Incredibly tender with a nice flavorful salty meat. What made this great though was the char on the meat and the fat which gave a lot of flavor and a nice crispy contrast with the tender meat. This definitely punched above its weight as the texture and flavor was better than preparations I've had at much more expensive places (Outback is also done pretty well). Chicken Critters: Tender meat with crunchy breading. Not as flavorful as what you'd get from KFC, but still done quite well and offered at a good price. Ribs: Very tender, fall off the bone. The char comes across nicely and each rib is fairly meaty. The sauce itself is good, though I would've preferred something a bit more smoky and sweet. Sirloin steak: Prepared surprisingly tender and goes very well with sauteed onion. I think this was executed so well that I could've been convinced into believing that it was a more pricey cut of meat. Cooked exactly to medium rare as asked. I also tried the mashed potatoes, green beans, and sweet potato here. They were prepared as expected from a chain steakhouse. Meaning they match well with the entrees, but nothing special. I scared him with my AARP red card, but he came back with positive response, and even shift manager stopped by later asking if everything is fine. The food was great as always. I finally found beef tips in Illinois menu. Hubby ordered ribs. The portion of half slab is bigger than in the other often visited restaurant, but it was a little bit burned on the top. Beef tips were excellente! Sangria Margarita was good. I rarely order alcohol, but TRH Margarita without add-in of shots is barely alcoholic. It's very cold, and I experienced a few episodes of frozen brain. On the other hand, it's a proof of brain existence in my accessory for a sombrero The restaurant was very busy. We called in advance to be added to a waitlist. We still wait 10 minutes in the yard listening to music. The weather was great. I love decor of this place. Actually, I joined AARP when this place was opened nearby, and my peer told me about 10% discount to the red card carriers. Our favorite steakhouse chain!! We have come here multiple times and never have had a problem. The place is almost always full and background noise in on the loud side. Use the app for check-in to save yourself a longer wait. Prices are very competitive Food has been cooked well and portion sizes are very good. Most meals come with 2 sides and all of them are good. Honestly service was great, I could tell my server liked his job and he was very funny and held great conversation. Constantly checked up on us even though we were a large party. Was very tentative and didn't mind going to grab stuff that we needed. The food on the other hand wasn't that great. My friend found a piece of metal in her margarita. The margarita itself tasted great but metal? The steak also wasn't cooked properly and the food took forever to come. Half of the food was really cold like it was sitting there for an hour. My boyfriends chicken was literally pink. He could've gotten really sick from that and the meal wasn't even comped. We had to pay for it, the chicken took an extra 25 minutes to be done and by that time he was already full. Food was actually kind of gross. It was two of my friends birthdays and the staff was wonderful and sang them happy birthday and it was hilarious. The place itself didn't look that clean. I just tried Texas Roadhouse for the first time this week and I will definitely be back in the near future. First cool thing is that they seat you with your bread. The bread is warm and buttery and comes with a cinnamon butter. I could quite honestly just scrap the whole meal and sit there with a basket of this bread - that's how delicious I found it! For food, got the combo chicken critters and sirloin meal with buttered corn. I'm really not a steak person (chicken is my jam) but I figured I'd get the combo and try both. The steak was cooked well and very tender, the chicken was juicy, and the corn was really good. My husband got the ribeye and said it was okay but he preferred my sirloin instead. Service was good - our waiter was attentive and even brought me a bag of bread to-go which I thought was super sweet. The place itself looked and felt clean; I was surprised by how big inside it was because the outside doesn't give the illusion that it's that big. We didn't mind the wait, but what we did mind was our waitress basically forgetting we existed the whole night. 15-20 minute wait just for drinks, 45 minute wait for the food. Most of our orders were wrong, overcooked, or both. The manager tried to help, but it didn't really seem like she cared much either. Off topic, they make their employees wear shirts that say "I MY JOB", and if I had to wear that, I would probably also not care about any of these customers. To start food was good we did not have appetizers but we had 2 steaks and a burger. All were cooked correctly and served hot. Service was slow our server took our order and delivered our drinks (3 different margaritas). Then we did not see her until after we had finished eating. our drinks were good, however, we found a fly in one. These thins happen we were not upset but did not want to drink it for obvious reasons. We waited then my daughter took the drink to the bar and pointed out the fly the bartender made a new one and delivered it. When our server came by we let her know and she was surprised and apologetic. The reason we like chain restaurants is the consistency of their food, especially Texas Roadhouse. This visit was so disappointing. Service was slow, which we didn't really mind, but there were a few hiccups that made us not wanna go back for a while. First of all, a few of our items came out wrong from drinks to mains. The biggest gripe I had with this visit was that I ordered a prime rib (whatever the biggest size on the menu was) and maybe about 30 minutes into waiting for our food a manager came out and told us they no longer had that size of prime rib and only had the smallest cut on the menu. My initial thought was "OK that's fine I'll take it" which changed to "wait does this mean they're only firing our foods now??" after the manager left. The prime rib I was given was probably the last piece they had under the heat lamp... and probably sitting there since lunch. My husband compared it to a piece of jerky. It was already decorated for the holiday season and a good western atmosphere. We both had the 6 oz sirloin and asked for it to be cooked medium. That's exactly what we got! The meat was solid without a ot of fat or tough places. We both had green beans for one side dish. They were cooked to southern taste, which is well done with no crunch! I had the sweet potato and asked for extra cinnamon without extra butter and got it, to my surprise! My wife also enjoyed the green beans as well as the spiced rice. The waiter Kody as well as the lady who served us were very friendly and eager to serve all our needs as quickly as possible. We plan to return here on a frequent basis, now that we've found it. We opted for the pickles it's was tasty. 3 bone in rib eyes 2 medium rare 1 medium. 1 of the steaks was definitely not 20oz you can tell by how thin the cut was compared to the other two and it didn't have a bone in it so...how was it a 20oz? Anyhow, the manager insisted it was and I didn't want to fuss about it any longer. They were all a bit under temperature but it was ok. I don't like sending food back unless it unpalatable. As an addition, mushrooms and onions were added to the steak as well as a loaded baked potato (came out of the kitchen naked and had to ask for the toppings. Side of shrimp = This was ok. In Mt Prospect I believe the location in Rand Road Service was excellent a tribute to the server Yessenia was superb. I had the 14 oz Ribeye cooked to perfection and very favorable.. house salad with blue cheese dressing was outstanding I luv boiled eggs in a salad with lots of tomatoes.
