Don't know what it is about this Texas Roadhouse, but it's better than all the others on the Island I've been too. This is the perfect spot to come to with the kids because it's so flipping loud. It's also a good location, off North Ocean and not far from where a lot of our friends with kids live. Hubs requested this specific Texas RH for his birthday and off we went. I'm also updating this review because for some reason, the meal was extra good. Usually I don't love their mashed potatoes but this time I got them plain rather than loaded. The trick is the side of gravy. It really hit next to the 6 oz. Sirloin covered in mushroom and onion. It almost felt like my birthday meal. Anyways we love the staff here and are always met with such a warm welcome and great service. Pro tip: I saw a flyer that kids eat free on Tuesday. I always have been a fan of this place since they've been on the island. I always feel that the support they give to Veterans is above and beyond. I also feel the quality of their food is really high for a chain, however my recent visit a couple of weeks ago was far from their norm. Being a Veteran myself, I've taken advantage of the free meal they provide on Veterans Day. I went with my family and as usual, they were packed. When we finally were seated and placed our orders, I mentioned that I would like to add the difference to get a slightly larger steak, which was usually never a problem. The waitress however was not very obliging, but after speaking with the manager, they agreed. After my family received our drink order, mine premium margarita was missing. It was after quite some time when I mentioned it to another waitress as our's hadn't been seen. When it finally was brought out, the drink was close to half full... and my salad was pretty much the same thing. While these two issues weren't deal breakers, when my steak finally came out, it was not only minuscule, but cold. Again, the waitress was no where to be found. When mentioned to another waiter she came over with the manager who curtly took my steak back. When it came back, again it was small and at this point the manager was not happy. My wife agreed for me to just ignore it and eat my meal. It was in no way a quality steak and actually had me feeling a bit off the next day. I understand this is an offer of gratitude on their part, but if it's becoming burdensome, maybe they should just stop the offer. I think my Veteran brethren would feel the same way. Texas Roadhouse. You get pretty decent bang for your buck and some pretty good grub as well. It's not a steak you're going to hold to the same standard as a Peter Lugers or Keens, but you won't have to take out a second mortgage to have an enjoyable meal. Always a great dinner at the TRH!!! Tonight I had the 20 oz bone in ribeye steak med rare. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing, nice and tender. Good spot for a casual steak dinner, celebrate a birthday (yes, the staff sings a goofy song while giving the birthday boy/girl a special dessert), or to enjoy a few beers around the bar and watch some sports. I have to say it's a clean place, the food is served quickly and tastes great, and the pricing is very fair for steak dinners. Plenty of choices for eats and drinks. Staff is terrific and helpful. I have not been to a Texas Roadhouse in a while. The one in Selden is similar to the one I visited a while back in Chantilly, Virginia. Either I was famished when I visited the Chantilly location or things have changed... a LOT. The Selden establishment looks similar to the one in Virginia: Pick your steak, take your peanuts, follow the waitress through a maze of pine paneled booths, spaced out in a well planned use of space around a very big bar. The staff is just as nice as the one in Virginia, and the lemon aide is just as good, but this is where the similarities end. The Selden establishment provides bigger sides, the corn - I tried my wife's - was very good and the Caesar salad was excellent. Regrettably, the entree fell short. While the rolls were tasty the pulled pork was nearly warm and tasteless. My stake fries were inedible. The Takeaways: 1. Parking is ample. 2. Staff is excellent. 3. Besides the fact that the food is really great tonight I saw the owner come out and put a fire out. Kriztina, the owner displayed exemplary skills and customer satisfaction. Yuck it's a busy restaurant. You have to wait but have some dignity for the servers and the staff here. We've been here twice. I have not had a bad meal yet. The salad actually comes on a cold plate. Who the hell does that? It's amazing and it's the way it should be. But once again for an owner to come out and put out a problem is where these days they're usually hiding. Ribs are slightly worse than chains like apple bees which is already low quality. Veteran's Day 2021, Texas Roadhouse across America gave Veterans a free meal to be used before May 2022. The Texas Roadhouse at 6pm on a Friday is easily a one hour wait. My wife and I arrived early and were seated quickly. From the Veterans menu I ordered a grilled pork chop with a side of chili. My wife ordered a nice cut of Prime Rib. To start, I had the grilled shrimp Our meal was excellent! The Prime Rib was on point and the Grilled Pork Chop was a nice size for me. The bill came and I paid on my app! Loved this place, Have gone 4 time and the last 3 times in a row they was a problem, They were out of the Prime Rib , the next time they had 1 left, it was think and NOT pink like a rib eye should be, and this weekend went again after bragging about the place, and AGAIN, no Prime Ribs left and it was only like 6pm. Food was horrible, we have been once before and it was great which is why we went back but no one enjoyed their food except for the rolls. The mashed potatoes must hace been on the counter for hours waiting to be served, it was hard and the gravy on top had a film on top it had been situing out and furthest from fresh. Our last visit was many years ago at a different location so we figured we'd give it a shot since the place is always packed. The rolls were warm and fresh. We loved the cinnamon butter. Side caesar salad was great loved the croutons. The main dishes were disappointing. Ordered the ribs and steak. Steak was dry and flavorless. The ribs were burnt on the top and bottom and difficult to chew. Our side baked potato and sweet potato were both good. But unfortunately the fresh vegetables were anything but fresh. This place is always packed! Ive ordered take out many times from this place and have always been satisfied with it. I love how they pack all the sides in separate containers most of the time. Obviously the best thing is the free bread! I can just eat that and be happy. My friends and I finally went to the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Service was good and the food was good as well. This place is usually a hit or miss and more often than not, they miss. Been here a couple times and the staff is usually always friendly and on top of things.. however after this past weekend we won't ever be back. We were sat at the bar area and Chris the bartender was suppose to take care of the table. Now I understand letting bartenders take tables but if they can't keep up with their bar and take care of tables then don't seat them. It's pretty simple. Needless to say, the service was subpar. My food was returned and he didn't even know about it because he never checked. With that being said, how do you serve steak and not know the different cuts of steak?? Or maybe they did and tried to get one over thinking I wouldn't know the cut of steak?! I had ordered a ribeye and was served a little sirloin!! I had to track down a manager to point it out and the manager even acknowledged I was right. He tried to rectify the situation, however, the funny thing is he brought me out a strip steak instead of a ribeye.
