When we asked for a plate, the young lady at the counter mocked us, repeating "plate" in a sarcastic way. We ended up eating out of a chicken container. While we ate, she kept spraying cleaner near our table, and when I asked her to stop, she gave us dirty looks and acted rude. We were also short on biscuits and had to ask twice. The whole experience felt uncomfortable -- we were the only Black customers there, and it felt like we were being treated differently. Tried this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. I know it's specialty is chicken but I got the seafood meal, for only $6.50 (after tax) you get crab cakes, fish, coleslaw, crumbed prawns and fries. The mini crab cakes were delicious, the fries were nice and crunchy (well drained of oil and fresh), the coleslaw also had a good texture (fresh) and I was amply supplied with tartare sauce. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the pieces of fish, which was mostly batter and tasted like the generic assortment straight out of the frozen foods section at your local supermarket. To start I went here last week with a friend and went smooth sailing. Paid with card (has no chip, important to note for later) and got food within 15 or so minutes. Fast forward to today I go with a different friend and they allegedly can't accept my card anymore because "chip only" after getting a "new system" which looks exactly the same as the system there last week. It was tough to find parking on the main street, so I had to park in front of someone's house. The owner was looking at me as if I was going to leave my jeep in front of his house all weekend. I wasn't planning on experiencing euphoria eating fried chicken and staying in the restaurant until Monday. Jeez...some people just don't like strangers parking in front of their house! I will say that this place was clean inside. I wasn't sure if I wanted some wings & biscuits or go for burger-n-fries. Decisions...decisions..decisions. I went for the Bacon cheeseburger combo with fries and a can of soda. I asked for a wing on the side to try. The burger was "ok". The fries and wing weren't that flavorful. Hey at least I gave this place a shot...not sure if and when I'll be back. This "halal" place is not exactly halal spicy cuisine that you may have come to know. I ordered combo "spicy" beef burger, comes with small fries, a refill drink, cup slightly smaller than you get at BK. I was looking forward to spicy part with some nice ethnic taste to it. Well, it is simply a mass produced and processed beef partty with nothing in it, no taste, just as good as chewing plastic patties at McDs. The spicy part was interesting. All they do is just to put a dab of commercial hot sauce with heavy vinegar taste. The sauce they used tasted awfully similar to a large size hot sauce bottle I purchased for $1 at Dollar Tree. The patty was decent size, hardly any salad or condiments in it and bun was super soft spongy, not so good. French fries were ok, nice temperature and texture. Drinks were cold enough without any ice. I noticed that beef patty was just bland and also it was red and raw inside it. Also, the extremely luminous white tube light is so annoying. Better off with soft red light for better ambiance. I paid a whopping $8.xx with tax. I can assure you that BG deal with two hamburgers-sum of which is larger than their burgers, French fries and a decent size drink/refill for $3.80 is much better. BG burgers have salad in it in some good quantity and taste for most part better than McDs and theirs. All in all, they need to change the menu to include only ethnic spicy made food that gives some specialty feelings.
