    2. Dragon Roll

We only got one picture (the dragon roll) because we were so into the food, but everything was great. It's a nice cozy relaxed place. The sushi was yummy (California roll, Dragon roll, Amazing grace roll, and Blondie roll) and the hospitality was so pleasant. The lady was very kind and helpful. My bf and I really enjoyed the experience there. 10/10.

When the food is good, it is gone fast:)

Great service and food. Enjoyed every dish and the warm hospitality of the owners who cooked and served my food. Definitely coming back.

Tony and Sue are AMAZING! Right from the start we were greeted with an excited smile. They seated us in a booth right next to the sushi station and we watched our food get made right in front of us. It's very family friendly and the space is very calm. My girlfriend and I LOVE this place and can't wait to come again. Thank you Sue and Tony!

I had some extra time today and thought I would stop by for some lunch, and I'm so glad I did! The owners are so incredibly sweet and even offered me one of their favorites to try. They made me a beautiful 49ers roll. I'll be back, thank you!

A very short wait and my order arrived, nicely presented. The rolls tasted fresh and were nicely constructed. I know veggie rolls are not a thorough reflection of a Japanese restaurant but sometimes places get these simple things wrong. The only thing I didn't prefer was that the rice vinegar taste leaned a little more sweet than I prefer. Despite that I had no problem with the meal. But next time I'll order something different. Service was excellent and very prompt. Prices were reasonable. $15 total for my two rolls. The ambiance is no frills/casual and I was fine with that. You can dine inside or outside. Dog friendly on the outside patio! I sat inside as it was pretty warm outside. Since they're on the main strip in downtown LG, you'll need to park on the street or elsewhere nearby as they don't have their own parking lot. If presented with the opportunity I would come back to try some other dishes.

We were 10 minutes late (saying goodbye to children) and the restaurant was pleasant. Thankfully, they were still taking in orders for drinks and had not started. It is much slimmer pickings than the sake, but enjoyed our sparkling wine paired with the kaiseki very much. The dishes were all excellent. The thing that lingered in my mind even till this day, a week after I am writing this review, is that umami flavor bomb chawanmushi with mosel mushroom and uni (never can go wrong with uni). The other thing that I thought took more skill, attention, and was unique to the chef's background was their dashi/broth. It was a complex of flavors from the sea that all paired well together. I thoroughly enjoyed every sip, and the flavors waking up all parts of my tongue. One more part - the meat dishes were not my favorite. They just do the seafood so well. Oh! Their website says to contact them via phone messaging, but they don't even reply to THAT. We're glad we picked here to show them what the Bay Area can do in terms of more authentic Japanese food. The decor is traditional and not fancy, but comfortable and clean. The shishito peppers were really tasty, not too hot, pleasantly hot. Edamame was typical, nothing really special, but it's a bit difficult to really elevate edamame. The braised pork was good and the lean parts were easy to selectively eat. Nothing here is aggressively seasoned, but also not at all bland, so it's a good balance of flavorful but not overbearing. The grilled chicken wings were okay, but nothing outstanding or memorable - but simple and fine. Our "main" dishes, the deluxe meshi, nike tofu, and okonomiyaki were all great! Really enjoyed all of them and they were again flavorful, authentic tasting, and generous portions to share. Wish this were a little closer to where we live, but we enjoy coming here whenever we do and I recommend this for trying more traditional dishes when you want something different than simple teriyaki and sushi rolls.

Disappointing Experience - Won't Be Returning…read more We really used to enjoy coming here--in fact, we were here exactly two weeks ago and had excellent service from a different waitress (who we didn't see tonight). Unfortunately, because of how we were treated tonight, we won't be returning. We arrived right when they opened at 4:00 PM today and specifically chose to sit outside at a table for six to stay in the shade. There were three of us--two adults and a child. The restaurant was not busy at all; in fact, it was completely empty except for us and one other person. Shortly after we sat down, a woman who appeared to be the waitress (or possibly the owner) began opening the top shades, exposing the tables to the direct sun--the exact thing we were trying to avoid. She then asked us to move to a smaller table. I asked if she could please pull the shades back over so our family wouldn't be stuck in the sun, but she refused. Her excuse was that she needed the shades open for when they turn on the patio heaters later. It was 81 degrees out, so forcing us to bake in the direct sun for heaters that weren't even needed made absolutely no sense. What made this double standard even worse was that the only other customer there--a woman sitting alone at another 6-seater table just waiting to place a to-go order--was completely left alone. There were plenty of seats outside the actual dining area she could have used, yet she wasn't asked to move or bothered at all. There was a very easy solution for us: the waitress could have just separated the two-seater table from the four-seater, allowing us to stay put out of the sun. Instead, she chose to target our family with a rigid ultimatum to either move to a different table in the direct sun or sit inside. The weather was beautiful, so we wanted to stay outside, just not sweating in the sun. The rigidness of her refusal, her bizarre excuse, and the clear discrimination in how we were treated versus the other customer in an empty restaurant left us feeling incredibly uncomfortable. Ultimately, we opted to just leave. It is incredibly disappointing to go from such a great experience two weeks ago to being made to feel so unwelcome by this individual. Good customer service matters, and we will be taking our business elsewhere.

But after weighing the price of the all-you-can-eat vs ordering exactly what we were craving a la carte, we decided to just order off the menu, which was the smart move since it was much less expensive and we ended up full. The place is casual and a little not-fancy decor or ambiance wise. You wouldn't bring anyone here you wanted to impress. . .but the food is what's important, right? The sushi was good! The rolls were large, the options were creative, and everything was tasty and met expectations. I wouldn't say it's elevated sushi, where there are layers to the flavors and you go "wow". But you get your sushi and see the portions are a good size and are happy that you get to dig in and eat satisfying sushi. I'd come back here again, especially for casual sushi where you want good value. Service was good as well - again, nothing fancy or overly attentive, but perfectly adequate for the level of restaurant. Also, it came pretty quickly, which was a plus as well (it wasn't that crowded when we went).

We grabbed the menus ourselves from a nearby table. We originally wanted to try their AYCE, but since the whole table had to participate, and one of us wasn't that hungry, we decided to order a la carte. We're glad we did. The 3 of us were already stuffed after sharing an appetizer and 4 signature rolls. The sweet potato tempura came out piping hot; the batter wasn't too thick. While the dipping sauce lacked flavor, the dish was still ok, and not too oily. We're impressed by the number of signature rolls they offered, and tried to pick something we hadn't seen at other sushi restaurants. My favorite was the lobster tail tempura that came with the Boujee rolls. It was tasty with a light batter. The plating was beautiful. The torched salmon, shrimp tempura and spicy tuna were good as well, but I didn't really see any real crab inside. The Skittles roll was pretty delicious, too. I liked that it had unagi, crab, tobiko, and avocado among other things. The Umami roll also had unagi and carb, but the salmon skin and bonito flakes were what made the roll special. My daughter didn't care for the salmon skin, though. The Black Mamba was interesting if you liked softshell crab. I didn't care for the macadamia nuts, though. Portion size was huge. However, their rolls weren't rolled very tightly nor cut evenly, and their rice was on the sweeter side as other Yelpers had mentioned. Since most of the rolls had similar sauces, they kind of tasted very similar, despite the different ingredients. I wouldn't mind coming back again to try other items on their menu when I'm in the area.
