Most of the 1 star reviews is due to timing so PLEASE READ the bad reviews, it doesn't have to do with the sushi quality. The LG roll was absolutely incredible and the nigiri was so fresh. I've been to a ton of sushi spots in the Bay Area and I can honestly say this is hands down my favorite. We ordered 4 rolls, nigiri and the carpaccio hamachi and everything was delicious. My 8 year old daughter loved the chicken teriyaki and completely devoured it. We will be back soon! The rolls had more pieces on them, I just started eating before taking the pic. read more

It came out with the incorrect sauce as it was meant to have Unagi and it came out with the spicy mayo sauce secondarily all I did was order one roll and a miso soup and it took 45 minutes for the order to be ready on a Tuesday night. I honestly do not understand this rating on yelp because it is my favorite local causal Japanese, both taste and pricing win out against any other spot I've tried in the area. One of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been too. Staff is really nice, bathroom is clean, restaurant has a lot of seating but not crowded or loud. And the food is delicious!! We had the ahi appetizer and three rolls to share. Perfect for two people. The Philadelphia roll was so creamy! And the role with the salmon on top was fantastic. I called to place a to-go order, they did advise me it would be an hour wait and took down my number. I showed up an hour later and the wait staff ignored me after I told them I had a to-go order. I had to track down a waitress who finally said that they hadn't even started the order and would not give me an answer how long it would take. They provided an excuse that one of the sushi chefs didn't show up, but could not answer why they didn't call me at some point to say the order would take longer. The wait staff's customer service was extremely terrible and borderline rude. I ended up self-canceling my order in person. I will not be going back. The manager was apologetic, but unfortunately did not negate the rude service by staff and common courtesy. Ended up going to Taco Bell, which had better customer service. read more

We've been coming to this place for several years now. Over the past two years especially, we've visited at least 2-3 times a month, mostly out of convenience, since it's very close to our house and often part of our evening walk. Over time, we've noticed a pattern: the waitresses often act as if they're doing us a favor by serving us. We usually just laugh it off and don't give it much thought. What's hard to ignore, though, is that we've seen them interact very differently with other regulars, much warmer and friendlier than what we've experienced. To start with the positives: the food is good. Not amazing, but solid and convenient, which is why we keep coming back. Today's visit, however, was particularly disturbing. When we walked in, only one table was occupied (a family of four). We said there were two of us, and the waitress pointed us to a four-person table. As we were getting settled, she came back and insisted that since there were only two of us, we needed to move to a smaller table. I pushed back, explaining that we tend to order a lot of food and that in the past they've actually moved us to larger tables so everything would fit. She reluctantly agreed. We ordered hot sake, which arrived lukewarm. I politely and calmly asked, with a smile, if it could be warmed up. She clearly wasn't happy about that. Throughout the rest of the meal, both waitresses brought our food with no smile and no sense of hospitality. The overall vibe was cold and unwelcoming. After we finished dinner and signed the check, one of the waitresses actually chased us to the car to ask if something was wrong because the tip was "too little." Tipping is optional and based on the service provided. I gave her my honest feedback about the service we received. She became upset and said, "I tried to smile and I gave you food." We paid for the food, this wasn't a favor. If this kind of attitude continues, it's not surprising the place was nearly empty on a Saturday evening. We'll likely still stop by occasionally because of convenience, but the service consistently holds this place back from being anything more than average. read more

My friend and I went to Shiroi Sushi for dinner on a Friday night around 6:30pm. She has been there several times to pick up to-go orders, but it was my first time at the restaurant ever as well as her first time there for a dine-in. The restaurant was clean, cute, and cozy. The place was considerably busy, especially with large groups, but they were tables available to easily accommodate us. Service was great. The food came out in a timely manner. Our server was friendly and helpful. The food was on par. I ordered saba nigiri, hotate nigiri, and agedashi. The mackerel and scallops tasted fresh, and I felt that the protein to rice ratio was nicely proportioned. Their agedashi tofu was exactly what I wanted it to be. A Rude Chef Or Boss Was Yelling On Me Last evening, I walked in this Korean tuning Japanese restaurant to order some to go at around 6:30 pm. No one no any sig. discloses that the to go order takes 20 minutes. After ordered my meal, I grabbed a bottom beer, and asked the server how about my order, and answered they were working on it. It was not really busy? And 3 table and two sit at the bar. Till 7:10pm, I checked again, and same answer per the server. 5 minutes later, the rude chef suddenly walked out and yelling on said if you could not wait at last 20 minutes , do not come. Very impolite. Again, no anyone mentioned such rule till the end. What sucked person? I would never come again and won't recommend to all my friends, clients , followers. I had a very disappointing experience at this establishment due to incredibly poor customer service from the sushi chef. I came in hoping to place a simple to-go order and was shocked at how rudely I was treated. Despite there being an open seat at the bar--which I even offered to take so I could order more easily--the chef flat-out refused to serve me. He claimed he didn't have time to "package" the order, which frankly makes no sense for a restaurant that presumably serves takeout. What made it worse was his dismissive and argumentative tone. It felt like he was going out of his way to be unaccommodating and unwelcoming. I've never experienced such an unnecessarily hostile attitude from someone in a service role. I left feeling embarrassed and frustrated. I won't be returning, and I would caution others who expect even basic courtesy from the staff. All were very tasty and our meal arrived quickly once we ordered, which was nice. The downside was that it was insanely loud inside for such a small place and the service left something to be desired. At the start it wasn't bad but trying to get a water refill took forever because no one came back to check on us. We had to make multiple attempts to get eye contact and flag someone down. I used to work right next to this place and would frequent a few times a month. My friend still works near by and wanted to grab sushi for lunch and do a distanced lunch date. So she ordered us 2 bentos and 2 rolls. Boy how disappointing! The food before was a solid 3.5 stars but it's pretty rough now... truly would give 1 star but I feel bad because of Covid. My biggest disappointment was the Netflix roll (California roll with baked scallops). The scallops were not cooked and needless to say, the top wasn't even baked. There was a lot of brown liquid on the bottom of the roll so it was a soggy wet mess. Couldn't even pick a piece up without it falling apart. Another issue is the pricing online is not what it is when you head there. Instead of us spending $60 on the 2 bento lunch specials and 2 rolls, it was over $80.
