Pretty good Thai food. Quick service, lunch special price you can't beat. Bathroom in basement is a bit creepy but you can't win them all. Pumpkin curry: good spice flavor, lots of coconut milk broth, slightly on the thinner side but tasty. Came with a generous portion of tofu. Panang curry: overall good. Nothing in particular stood out. Rice was cooked perfectly. Pad won sen: got chicken, it was overcooked and therefore tough. The sauce (and prob same for a pad Thai) had a very strong tomato flavor which we didn't prefer but if that how you like you pad Thai then you'd be pleased.

Been a customer for 7 years now, the first experience I had with this pad Thai really made me a repeat customer. It's filling; you could literally eat 1/3 of it and feel full, and have so much left over!! It's flavorful and unlike any other pad Thai I've ever had in all of Pa (Pittsburgh to Philly) and I love the people that work there; so friendly, the ambiance is everything - very familiar and quaint. I love everything about this place and I hope I can keep getting this pad Thai for years to come!!

Don't have to break the bank with this Thai restaurant! Spring rolls were bomb dot com! I also got pad see yew which was good. The tofu was cut long and thin which was interesting. I got take out and would do it again.

pretty good thai food in squirrel hill!! highly recommend coming for their $9 lunch special. i think for the portion size and quality of food, it is really worth $9!

It doesn't look like very much when you are walking by, we were the only people in the restaurant, but the food was absolutely phenomenal! We started with the Chicken Satay which was served with a nice peanut sauce that accompanied it very well! This was very flavorful and set up a delicious meal to come. I ordered the Pad Cashew Nuts Noodles at a spice level 8 and my mom had the Pad Thai at a spice level 3. Both portions were generous and the food was so tasty! I had never had the Pad Cashew Nuts Noodles before, but it was recommended to be by the waitress and she was spot on! The different textures between the cashews and the egg noodles, the spices, and the mixture of vegetables really set me up for an amazing experience. The Pad Thai was also very delicious! I definitely recommend going here for some authentic thai food! We also were quickly to learn that there are a TON of people that do take out from here, as there was a swarm of people walking in and out of the restaurant!

As always great food, I recommend their duck dish- they are very soft not rubbery taste as ducks usually do. Staffs are very kind and if the weather is nice, you can ask to sit outside. You can bring your own drinks as well!

It was okay. No ambiance. Music too loud. Extra ingredients (baby corn - why???) included that weren't listed on the menu. And when I ordered, the unfriendly and smelly (cleaning products? Lotion?) waitstaff tried to get me to order something else, saying repeatedly, you want this instead, right? It was a bit weird. It just didn't taste amazing at all, like Thai food usually tastes. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing and should've gone with her suggestion after all.

Tried via promo on UberEats. It came fast, warm, and was good. I liked that I could delegate gluten free on my order. And the portion size was great!

I honestly wasn't impressed. Having tried many Thai restaurants around the Pittsburgh area, I saw Thai and Noodle Outlet specialized in noodles and seemed to be a good potential dinner spot for me. They had some interesting menu items, but I went with a classic Pad Thai with chicken. If you do not like sweet Pad Thai, do not order from here or make sure to select a very spicy heat level! It is very sweet, and I am saying this as someone who prefers sweet Pad Thai. It was almost too sweet for even me, but it was still alright. When you first pick it up, you see the red hue to the noodles, and it threw me off. There is a somewhat weird ketchup aftertaste to it. Not a huge fan. Portions are okay. Not to big, most can finish in one sitting, but enough to make you full. Prices are appealing, but places in Edgewood/Swissvale offer even cheaper prices for a similar portion and much better quality. The chicken was pretty tasty and well cooked. They added enough sauce to the dish, which I can appreciate. I would have liked more peanuts or a stronger peanutty flavor (they just sprinkle a tad bit on top, that's the extent of the peanut flavor). They are also conservative with their use of bean sprouts. All in all, not my favorite Thai place in the city. I'll want to try other Thai spots around it. Be warned that the Pad Thai is very sweet, and has a strange ketchup flavor.

Crab rangoons and Pad See-Ew Noodles Lunch

I ordered delivery through Grubhub. I normally don't like to use those services to give more business to the restaurants but had a giftcard. I ordered my favorite, crab rangoons and pad sew-ew noodles. I got 5 homemade, crispy and crunchy puffs as the appetizer. They are always better fresh, so I indulged. I was satisfied with the lunch portion of the noodles as well. I would have liked to pick a spice level for the dish, but wasn't given an option. They got my order correct and was still hot after delivery. I would order from here again

appetizers: spring roll, crab rangoon, wings, chicken satay.

Not only do they look great, they taste great. It's always great to find a location that takes pride in their mixed drink selection. The only flag I have is if you order the Honey Bee Martini be prepared to feel like a bee is stinging you every time you take a sip. I enjoy spice, but even this had enough kick to make me savor it periodically. Disclaimer: Taste the flower at your own risk. Remember the saying, "Curiosity killed the cat". - Food: 4 / 5 Appetizer - When you think American cuisine, what do you picture? A hamburger? Hot dogs? An American Flag on the back of a Ford F-150 with a bald eagle in the driver seat? Even though all those can be true, I think of Crab Rangoon. Even as a non-crab person, I do enjoy popping one of these bad boys into my mouth after dipping it in the provided sauce. Nicky's uses a homemade pineapple sauce that adds just a slight tang on this small delight. Entrée - Bread wasn't the greatest creation of mankind. Actually, it was spice because that allowed Thai food to flourish. It has always been of my opinion that if you know how to use spices, then you can make any dish pop. We had the Pad Phet and Basil. Both dishes were absolutely flavorful and made each bite as enjoyable as the last. If you get a box, make sure to get two and a paper bag for reinforcement because if you have sauce left, you are going to want to pour that over your leftovers. Dessert - The sticky rice mango is definitely an interesting dish, but it had something in it that tasted like half and half and ruined any flavor that the mangoes held. The ice cream saved that sweet taste, but the sticky rice that lay below reminded me of a Rice Krispie treat that you found in a corner of your kitchen that was there for months and a friend dared you to take a bite. Disclaimer: You cannot eat the banana leaf...don't ask how we know. - Service: 4.25 / 5 When dining with someone who has a food allergy, you always worry about cross-contamination. Luckily, at Nicky's, even without disclosure, we had no issues at the end of the night. However, as the restaurant gets busy, the service definitely becomes slower, but if you have a great companion you honestly don't notice it. Nicky's also does a great job of not rushing you out the door as soon as the dessert has been finished and it seems each server helps the other servers if it becomes really busy, which isn't a bad system. It's worth noting there are standard charges including a pre-calculated tip, which is fairly common for restaurants of this style. - Vibe: 5 / 5 Nicky's is the exact reason why I started doing food reviews. By that, I mean I wanted to find interesting restaurants where you could sit down with other people, have a great conversation, enjoy some good food and just relax in the unique ambiance. - Overall: 4.25 / 5 My momma always said, "Thai food is a great indicator for a vibe check" and for my own personal add-on, "Great Thai food is how memories are made". If you are ever on the fence about certain people in your life, take them to Nicky's. By the end of the meal, you'll know where they stand. Recommend? Why is this even a question? Of course!

We had a horrible culinary experience the past couple of days driving through West Virginia, Ohio, and western New York. Pittsburgh was our last stop before heading home and Kiin Lao and Thai Eatery made up for all of the culinary disappointment this weekend. Let's talk about the ambiance first. Everything about this restaurant was quite beautiful. When I say beautiful, I don't mean it in an elegant way, but an artsy street vibe way. It is hip, clean, and we'll put together. You can tell a lot of love went into the decorations and into every piece of art on its walls. The service was pretty good. The server herself was attentive when needed and left us alone when needed. The food was AWESOME. We got the papaya combo with the Thum Mak Houng option, curry puffs, grilled pork shoulder with sticky rice, and Pad Gra Prow Street Style. The papaya was "lao-style" made with fermented shrimp paste. If you love deep umami flavors, this is it for you. The papaya salad was pungent and sour and savory spicy and just so satisfying. We asked for a 6/10 spiciness and they came with the heat. The chicken skewers that came with it was flavorful too. A little bit of char on the chicken would've brought it over the top. The curry puffs were so comforting and had that south Asian flavor profile that was very welcomed. The curry and spice blend did not overwhelm the potatoes. Instead it enhanced the earthy potato flavors in the best way possible. The menu said that it came with a cucumber sauce but I don't think we got that. What we got was a more like a honey sauce. The sauce was good in itself but didn't pair well with the puffs. The grilled pork shoulder was delectable. The meat was tender and it was seasoned perfectly. Again, more char on the meat would've brought it to a new level. The only gripe I have with this order was the sticky rice. The amount of sticky rice you get with it was so small I thought it was a joke initially. Nope, it was not! I thought the Pad Gra Prow Street Style was OKAY. I would've made it a little saucier. Despite this, my significant other absolutely LOVED it. Pad Gra Prow was my significant other's favorite dish when she lived overseas. She said that this was the best Pad Gra Prow she has had on this side of the world. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We would definitely come by again when we are back this way.
