Hadn't had Thai bbq in so long and this place reminded me why I need this in my life. Was pretty boring and got my usual S1 plate which came with a half chicken, the fluffiest and tastiest rice, and a sweet sticky sauce that I could probably use a whole bowl of. The plate was even better than I remembered, but it could use a cucumber or tomato or something on the side. Our table also got the fried egg rolls, which we definitely could have done without. They came after our entrees even though we ordered them as an appetizer. It was pretty inedible too as it tasted like they dumped half a cup of black pepper into the mix. It was super saturated in black pepper, which totally ruined the rolls. Sad. Peppered rolls aside, I would definitely come back for my trusty S1! read more

The food was pretty terrible. I had it delivered through Door Dash which had it rated highly. Four dishes ran over $60 too...Don't know who is doing the rating and what they're used to eating. YUCK!. The Beef Satay was actually sort of edible (Not really like the same dish in most good Thai restaurants - but still, palateable.) That's why I gave it 2 stars rather than 1. The rest was either tasteless or disgusting. I think I would describe it as "if McDonalds did Thai." Their house specialty Rama Shrimp was simply gross. I'm not sure what creamy butter sauce went on the shrimp as it was basically flavorless, as was the broccoli. And they served it with a huge glop of something between ketchup and cocktail sauce. The shrimp fried rice served with it tasted like something between the kind of rice from a TV Dinner and the kind a dive diner might serve as Chinese when they don't serve any real Chinese food. The Pad Thai was just tasteless. Blah. No. Flavor. At. All. The Spicy Chicken Coconut Soup was inedible. I've never had Tom Kha soup with absolutely no taste whatsoever, but they managed. I don't do spicy, but this had no Thai spice, or even coconut flavor either. I don't know how they did that - Now, THAT'S a skill LOL! Door Dash refunded my money, so at least I didn't pay for the food that I think I'm going to have to toss... What a waste though. read more

My husband and I have been going to this Thai Bbq location in Panorama City for over 20 years and tonight was the absolute worst service ever! After a long flight from LAX, my family of 5 decided to eat dinner here. We asked the elderly man at the counter for a table for 5 and he gave us an attitude and said, "We close at 8." He looked at us like we were crazy to want to still eat there knowing that they close at 8pm. We looked at our watch and told him it's only 7:18pm. He then said you can sit if you want then he rudely reiterated that they close at 8pm. By 7:55pm, he was there standing with vacuum cleaner on hand when people were still eating....I kid you not. He rushed us throughout and when we were just about to get up and leave at 7:58pm (after rushing through our dinner), he aggressively started clearing the table. There were still 2 other tables there when we left so were not the last to go. Horrible Service!!! read more

My family has been going here for many years, so it pains me to give just three stars, but I must be honest. I liked to food here. The fried rice is one of my favorites. I usually get the S1 Chicken or S8 with beef skewers. We also usually get pad thai to share or pad see ew. The food quality has gone down the past few years, but still good. This used to be one of my Go to for Thai bbq .not anymore ! Last night I ordered the bbq chicken and pork ribs. One of the chicken was raw and the ribs was so tough! We end up throwing the food . I called today to let them know but the guy that answered the phone instead of apologizing but was rude telling me all kinds of excuses ! Well when you lose your appetite the last thing I would think is to take picture . No more I will never go back to this location . I hope the one in Glendale is better . Not to mention the price had gone up and less ribs on dinner order. What a shame ! read more

POOR SERVICE I ordered food in advance and was given a time for pick-up. I arrived and my food was 30 minutes late. Everyone who walked in was given their food before me. I complained and they said they didn't have enough staff. I told them I ordered my food even before they opened and the two people at the counter walked away from me. No apology for the delay. When you only have 30 minutes to eat lunch every minute matters and this restaurant does not understand the concept of time and customer service. read more

I have been coming to this restaurant since it first opened and my family comes here so often that the staff practically knows us by now. The food here has always been exceptional and I highly recommend the Saté Dinner, an entree that is very popular. Other dishes to try include the Chow Mein, Hot Pot, and Honey Duck. I called in an order for pick up. I ordered calamari and the dearest crab which is like glass noodles, crab and pork or chicken fried into a ball usually served with sweet pineapple sauce. They took my order but called me back and said they were out of calamari and I said it was fine as long as they had the dearest crab which they did and he said it was ready for pick up. Took About 15 minutes. When I arrived it was ready and hot, served with thee most delicious cucumber salad and some yummy shrimp fried rice (though you only get one shrimp). That cucumber salad, they just need to give you more! It's diced cucumbers with diced red onions in a sauce - maybe a vinagrette or vinager, whatever it is, all the flavors go well together. The sweet and salty. The parking sucks and the restaurant has a little bit of a funky smell when I walked in that's why only three stars. Shrimp Wonton Soup (good for 2 or 3) ...good and hot! Phad Thai ...really good! enough seasoning. BBQ chicken (lunch special) ...its rice is so gooood! Crispy chicken outside and moist inside. "half bbq chicken served with homemade sauce" as stated in their menu. Thai Iced Tea... nothing special, just like any other. Their portion are generous. You can share most dishes between 2 people. Casual Dining 3/18/2008 [1 Month Prior...] "Maybe not today," the Korean waitress replied to us. Her words single-handedly ruined our night. "Maybe not today," kept ringing in our heads, stunned at the fact that we were denied entry from an All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ restaurant. We found ourselves in a parking lot, reluctant to enter a different eatery that lie before us. Thai Original BBQ Restaurant? Original Thai BBQ Restaurant? What the hell is up with that sign? It's so confusing! We decided to eat at this Thai place anyways. The waitress took our order, astonished at the amount of fried food we requested. Fried chicken, fried hen, and fried rice. [Waiting patiently for our meal, we contemplated the wondrous thoughts of hot Korean BBQ dipped in salt and oil that we COULD have been enjoying.] Such a fatal mistake, to enter a BBQ restaurant and NOT get BBQ. The food would have deserved 2-stars. [Present Day] This time, I decided to visit Panorama's Thai BBQ located off the corner of Roscoe and Woodman. The lunch menu served the exact same portion sizes as the dinner menu, so if possible come in between the hours of 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. For $6.25 an entree, you can get the L1 (S1 for dinner), which consists of barbecued chicken, fried rice, and a salad. They served the chicken with their special sauce, which tasted sweet (probably orange marmalade, honey, and some spices for a little bit of heat; although I could be wrong). The chicken worked well with the sauce, which I believe may be their attempt to mask the fact that the chicken was slightly overcooked. All in all however, this experience was much better than the last; as long as you only put a little bit of sauce on your chicken, the sweet balances well with the savory on your palate. Additional Notes: Driving here may be a challenge in itself; the roads are horrible, the people drive like A-holes, and it's always under construction in Roscoe Blvd. Parking is also a hassle because it's always crowded and there is so little space to park. In fact, you probably wouldn't even be able to open your door. And finally, the traffic lights are unprotected and the green lights are extremely short. The Bottom Line: 13/20 For a uniquely different type of BBQ, Original Thai just barely deserves four stars. Don't take a risk and get something deep fried or curry based, it's definitely not their specialty. read more

Phad Thai please! I LOVE thai food. Original Thai BBQ is the best Thai food I've had so far. Chicken sate with some phad thai and shrimp fried rice, OH YEAH! Ate here with my mum and younger brother. One guy waiter just threw the menus at our table without even greeting us. He just left too. I ordered a teriyaki salmon and I forgot what my brother ordered. He got the wrong type of meat when his dish came, but we just let it go. The salmon that I got was a bit burnt on the sides. I usually order teriyaki salmon and it's much better when I ate it in Vegas. Our drinks were constantly refilled without the water ever reaching the bottom half. The food was okay. I will always have a place close to me for this place. But, lately the quality they're punching out has been BAD. Watered down sauces. Their rice is mushy. And, overall it just seems rushed. I tried a few times to say it's just that one time. But, it hasn't. It's been like this 3-5 times I've been back. For those who have been long time customers. Food here is always fantastic! I have yet to find another restaurant that comes even close to the quality of their beef panang. Same goes with their beef sate. Both of these dishes are my wife and I's go to and they never disappoint. Service is a hit and miss here, but for the last few visits, the service has been on top of their game, perhaps they read their reviews on Yelp? Thai BBQ at 3rd street was so good, there was always a long line. Their spare ribs was so soft and juicy, it separates from the bone. So we were so happy when it opened a branch in Panorama City infront of Kaiser Hosp and the Reseda Blvd branch in Northridge. But the service and the quality of their food is not the same. They have no quality control. They just let each branch cook their own without thinking of maintaining quality. Each branch must be individually owned. Many times when we go there, we always hope that maybe this time the quality of their spare ribs will be the same as in 3rd St branch. Again and Again, their spare ribs are now hard and they served it cold just like from the refrigerator. We asked the waiter to heat or changed the ribs and he said they could not change anymore because we already touched it. How will we know that the meat was cold and hard if we did not touch/taste it. Can they not at least heat it up again to make the meat more tender? Where there used to be long lines? Now you have so many empty chairs and you have so many Thai restaurants in the area that competes for customers. Other Thai restaurants cook much better food. read more

23 November 2019 A horribly bad day at Thai BBQ Woodman Avenue. I come up to a female server manning the counter to pay. The server/cashier identifies to the name "Bem" by the receipt I have throws me a smug face and with a most intolerable attitude asks: "Are you gonna put cash (tip) on the table?"...and mutters "All the servers know you." Just to get it done and over with, I hand her $5.00 as tip. She did not even serve us. Quite dumbfounded by what just happened, I ask the other server who she is, the man server says "Pam". I come to "Bem" or "Pam" on the floor. I ask "Have I offended you in any way?" Bem/Pam, in front of the public, completely switching her aggressive behavior at the cash register now sheepishly says: "I only ask you to put cash on the table." It looks to me Bem/Pam mistakes me for somebody else. She does not ask me but DEMANDS. She singles me out as "All the servers know you for never giving a tip." Hey Bem/Pam, my family and I come here for years. We generally like the food. Other servers are not in any way like you. And there you are crossing the line throwing your angst at me and my Mom. Clarifying the story to Mom at the car, Mom decides we come back in to ask for the manager. "You have embarrassed us". Mom recommends Bem/Pam to learn more good customer service and throws back the take home "beef sate" on the counter convinced we are so wronged by this lady's poor work. read more

Some other notable dishes here included the Tom Yum Soup, stir-fried Mushroom & Broccoli, Garlic Ribs, Wings of Angel, Thai Ice Tea, Mango & Sticky Rice, and the Egg Roll. Since this pandemic started, I already ordered Take Out a few times. Food portions are very good. The place offers some real good lunch specials. The people who work there are nice too. Idk how this place has 5 stars or any horrible customer service. The fried rice we ordered looked like Mexican rice which my partner isn't a fan of. When we mentioned it to the server he just rudely shrugged it off. The food is extremely bland and mediocre at best. The noodles tasted like they were made in a dirty pan and the coconut chicken soup tasted like milky water. The customer service is H O R R I B L E. Seriously the worst I've experienced in my life. First, they got my order wrong and completely blamed it on me. I changed my mind on a dish and watched her cross it off the list. She then read the order back to me which was correct when she did, but she inputted it in wrong. When I went to tell her this, she blamed it on me and said I ordered what she had CROSSED OFF ON THE LIST. To top it off, the male worker there was probably one of the rudest workers I've come across. I asked him for water and he slammed it on the table as if I had just insulted him. This place is hit or miss. There are days when everything is cooked perfectly & some days when the meat is rubbery. I do love their seafood dishes, can never go wrong on their seafood soup. Parking can be a struggle during busy hours as this is part of a strip mall with a busy supermarket. I love Thai BBQ but this location is horrible. If you want Thai BBQ do yourself a favor and go to Glendale or on Wilshire. DO NOT GO HERE. Every time I come to this specific location the service gets worse and the food more and more terrible. Today is the last time I will ever come to this location. Our waiter had other agendas then to be our server. He takes our order comes back and drops all the plates and silverware on the edge of the table then goes a couple tables down and hops on this phone. Wow. Great service. I tried to be a nice as possible so they don't do something bad to our food. They probably did anyways. Both servers were being "polite" very arrogantly. We ordered 2x S-1 BBQ chicken, S-8 Sate beef, Seafood combination soup, Pad see ew, and fried calamari. They brought the food two plates at a time 5 minutes apart. Of course the appetizer came out very last! Wow. The rice was horrid. No one in my party could bare eating it. The beef was almost raw. The chicken was super dry. Normally if I pay for food I'll finish it. But I couldn't even stomach half the food. To top it all off, they charge us gratuity because they include my 3 and 1 year old in our table. Wow...I don't know where to start honestly.. I'll start with the worst dish on the table, the spicy beef salad. They literally must have...excuse me I mean HAD TO, have dropped the whole bottle of salt in the whole salad dish. Everyone tried a tiny little bite of both the beef AND salad and spit it out! We told the lady(waitress) all she did was stare at us with a blank stare, didn't say anything, left to drop off a check to the next table. She then talks obnoxiously loud about us in Thai to one of the guys, I know it was about us because she pointed at us.. No point in complaining here just throw it in the trash and let your money go to waste they won't do anything or say anything in fact. The chicken in the S1 was freakin raw in the middle! So was the two shrimp they put on top of the rice..the shrimp was raw!!! Can you believe that? Since I'm pregnant I didn't even touch it! I just ate the rice, which should have just been white rice because their "fried rice" had no flavor. Maybe they dropped the whole bottle of salt in the salad... We also had the seafood spicy/sour soup..flavor was bland and tasted NOTHING like a traditional Thai soup. The beef panang..was literally underneath a boat load of OIL! This is the worst "Thai" restaurant I've ever been to. THE WORST. I've been to the one in Reseda which is like a whole 360 difference! The one on Reseda is much better.
