My wife and I recently visited this place since we were craving Thai cuisine. Neither of us had been before but it had been recommended to us by some Thailand natives who work at a local spa we frequent. I found it confusing when we first entered as I was not sure if we sat ourselves or had to wait to be seated. The only employees I saw were a waitress and the sushi chef. However, after we were seated a second waiter came for our drink orders. The sushi prep station sits in the middle of the restaurant and there is plenty of seating. After looking over the menu, I selected the Curry Noodles. My wife chose the poor man noodles with tofu. I liked the size of my dish but sadly the taste was off compared to other curries I've had at other places. My wife wasn't a fan of her food, and commented that the tofu tasted like fish. This was alluded to in another yelper's post. Given the word of mouth advice and favorable rating on yelp, our experience was disappointing. I don't plan on coming back any time soon.
Pad see ew was pretty good and I also got their pad thai and sushi before which I thought was good as well. I didn't think it was super special but I appreciate how the store is open later than most other places. There is a lot of seating inside it's like 3 rooms connected into one big room so there is a lot of seating.
We went to Thai Bistro and tried the lettuce wrap ($8.50), tom yam soup with tofu (large, $11), and pad see ew ($12). My favorite was probably the tom yam soup! It had a strong lemongrass and chili flavor and came with a lot of tofu. It was delicious with Rice. The noodles in the pad see ew were chewy and the portion size was generous. The lettuce wrap was super fresh. The fillings included vermicelli and veggies, and it comes with a yummy ginger dressing. The service was quick and no frills. It was kind of impressive how our server memorized our entire order without writing anything down. The place was clean.
For dinner last night, I met with my sister-in-love, Lisa at Thai Bistro & Sushi on DeZavala. It's been a while since I've visited. We started with the Spring Rolls, which were huge like egg rolls. We could only eat one. I was excited to have the Pineapple Curry with roast duck and Lisa had the Eggplant and Basil with chicken. Generous portions here are enough to bring home leftovers. I'm so glad I got the duck. It was tender and had a good flavor.
I love Thai food and had high expectations as the reviews were good. Quite disappointed with the food, everything was bland except for the egg drop soup. We tried the satay chicken, very dry and no spices were added not even salt. The spring rolls were vegetarian and burnt, also no flavor to them. The red curry and drunken noodles had absolutely no flavor, not good at all. Will not be going here again. I don't recommend.
Good for a quick bite with the work crew. Good and speedy service. Came with free cup of soup! I believe it was hot and sour? Ordered mine spicy and liked it. Coworker ordered a roll of sushi and just said it was okay. They for sure get a lunch rush hour so it does seem rather fast paced.

Service is decent, the ambiance is a little odd in that it feels like three different places smashed together. We had the very good Tom Yum soup, middling Chicken Pad See Ewe and Woon Sen. Flavors were pretty basic, and the noodles were freshly wok'ed but without a bit of a sear on the noodles and veggies. Still very good, worth stopping in. (Did not try the sushi, but it looked fine.) This place scores a 4 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.
There are plenty of options between sushi, Thai food, and even traditional Chinese food. That is what I got, sesame chicken, which was delicious. My companion had the pad Thai and really enjoyed it. The service was wonderful and we will definitely go back.
Visited Thai bistro again and tried the poor man noodles, hot and sour soup and the Massaman curry. Everything was so delicious we couldnt pick a favorite. Definitely my new favorite Thai restaurant in San Antonio. Service was also great!
I came here with my friends, and we shared three dishes. The first was the basil fried rice, which I would normally not get but honestly one of the best fried rice is that I've had in a while. The second thing we ordered was the green curry and lastly, we ordered the curry noodles. All of them with tofu. I would say the fried rice was my favorite out of the bunch! The curry was nice and homey! It was a nice way to end my cold evening after playing tennis! We ended the meal with mango sticky rice! I heard from my friends to not don't order the boba there because you will finish your meal by the time you get your Boba! But that being said, the service that we had was quite quick and efficient!
My husband works down the street from Thai Bistro and I meet him here often for lunch. He eats his weight in pad Thai on a weekly basis and I can't say that I blame him! I almost always order curry when eating Thai food, and I had the green curry the last time we went. It was the perfect level of spice that I requested (a 2, their spice level goes from 1-4). It was a nice consistency and wasn't too thin or soupy. I like a curry that's got some girth to it. The lunch crowd gets busy, so I recommend to go a bit early if you want faster service. We usually have the same server and she's friendly, always smiling and chatty. Can't speak to the sushi, but would love to try it soon. My husband ordered the sesame chicken once and wasn't a fan. Overall, a great spot for consistently tasty Thai food.

I about fell over when I saw Thai Bistro on Uber Eats! When I used to work nearby, this place became an extension of my office. I was there multiple times a week and fell in love with both the food and the people. It was cold and rainy, so I ordered their curry noodle soup and it hit exactly how I needed it to. The coconut Thai curry base is unreal. One sip turns into another real quick. It's warm, rich, and the kind of comfort food that feels like it was made with care. I also added the double crab roll. I usually lean fresh over fried when it comes to sushi, but this is the one place I make an exception. Creamy, crispy, and just really well done. I was in the middle of a long workday with no breaks, and this meal forced me to slow down for a minute with a meal that hugs your soul! read more
I absolutely love this restaurant. It was confusing as heck when we came. It's like two completely different restaurants melted together. It has an old grungy side, and bright side. Weird. Enough of that, our waiter was AMAZING! I mean he was on it, and explained things to us every time we asked, and he made some great suggestions! We had summer rolls, lettuce wraps, tom kha, sashimi, ended the meal with milk tea and mango stick rice. Let's start with the summer rolls and lettuce wraps. Both were a superb interpretation of both dishes. The summer rolls were bigger than expected, fresh, and the peanut sauce that came with it was perfect. The lettuce wrap was no slouch either. The chicken was beautifully spiced, and had a good tang to it. The juice at bottom of the dish we fought over. Pair it with Thai chili paste, out of this world! The only draw back is they do give you a pretty hefty portion and the lettuce is def not enough. Oh well a small problem. The tom kha soup...I will come back again to get it. You have to enjoy the broth alone first. Plenty of chicken and mushrooms too. Oddly enough the cilantro did not overpower the dish, just tells you how great the broth was. The sashimi dish was the end. It was very fresh. I will say this, mackerel is an acquired taste. Especially in this form. Think canned sardine but with a more pronounced metallic taste. We like it, but it's not a begginer dish. Other than that the rest of the fish was spot on. The tuna was the best. We had a milk tea, as good as anywhere else. No need for details on it. This is where I may get in trouble...we never had mango sticky rice till this day. Please keep in mind we are adventurous eaters. But..we don't get it. This was a texture and flavor thing for us. It was sticky, mushy, starchy, and not very appetizing for us. This is the dish that makes people who hate mango, and we love mango, say "see we told you". It just doesn't make sense. I think it's one of those things people grew up eating, and just got used to it. I mean we couldn't finish it. For us it goes in the vault of never again along with capirotada(don't believe anyone, it's gross),injera bread(why sour tortillas?) dolmas(bitter, bitter),nopales(just why?)tortitas de camaron(cool concept, nope on texture or flavor),champurrado(it literally tastes like a very burnt corn tortilla), lutefisk, and many more. Sorry we just don't get the hype for it. Other than that yay!!! We will return! read more

As a regular here, I feel confident to say that this is an amazing spot. The service is always perfect with friendly faces serving outstanding food in a timely manner. Alongside their good prices, the comforting atmosphere of the restaurant makes me want to spend every lunch and dinner here. 10/10 read more

Super solid spot! I stayed "safe" and got the popular Pad Thai dish, spice level 2, along with crab Rangoons (they call them some to omg puffs). The Rangoon's were delicious!!! Wrapper was super thin & crispy. Insides were thin, flavorful and smooth. Yum! Pad Thai was good too. I could've handled a spice level up, but I had hot oil to take it up a notch. The portion was big! Solid pad Thai dish! I think I remember going to this place years and years ago. Was glad they were open until 10, because I really wanted Thai! They had my order all wrapped and ready to go when I arrived. Call ahead & friendly service over the phone and for pickup. I would definitely come back & recommend this place! read more

Got take out tonight. 4 entrees and an appetizer. It was ready about 20 minutes after I ordered it. The dinners do not come with anything extra such as a spring roll. Speaking of spring rolls, there are 4 in an order and they are huge! Almost the size of egg rolls. They were light and fresh tasting and came with some sort of peanut sauce which was ok. A but too salty for my taste. Pad Woon Sen with chicken, medium level spice or 2 if you prefer. It was perfection. It was bursting with flavor and veggies. I wish there was more, even though I was full, my mouth just wanted to keep tasting it!! Pineapple fried rice with chicken was not my favorite. I've had this dish in several other Thai restaurants and it's always hit or miss. Here, it's made with a curry like sauce that I just didn't like the taste of. In my opinion, it overshadowed the rest of the dish. I couldn't taste anything else other than the curry sauce. All in all, I'd come back for sure, maybe dine in for a lunch special. The pad woon sen and spring rolls warrant giving this place another chance and trying some dishes. read more

I had the pad wu sent, it lacked flavor. When you arrive for lunch they give you Hot and sour soup, which is nice, but I am not a fan. At least I tried it before I checked reviews which are pretty good. There are a lot of places around town with better flavor. read more

Found a new Thai favorite. Small, clean, friendly staff. Food was delicious and flavorful with good prices. Dragon roll was spicy and beautifully presented. I got red curry spice level 3. Fragrant, not watery like some curries I've had. Fried rice, especially the shrimp one, was delicious. I'm picky with fried rice and theirs was delicious. Not too salty or dry. The soft shell crab was also delicious, flavorful, and the sauce and vegetables they added were perfect. My bf said he prefers soft shell crab without all the sauce, but I think that's personal preference. Overall loved this place, will make it a regular place to try other items also. read more

Walked in on a busy Friday and got sat immediately! Service was great, we got the dumplings for our appetizer. Absolutely yummy, you can tell they are freshly made, very crispy, amazing flavor and the sauce was delicious! The San Antonio roll was so good as well, some of the best sushi I've had! Very fresh tasting, and you could taste every ingredient. Can't wait to try more of it. I got the Curry noodles medium spice which were absolutely delicious best of both worlds. And the pad Thai is a MUST HAVE, the flavors were amazing, I've never had such a delicious pad Thai, I was told by the owner that it is cooked up in the wok so you get the great Smokey flavors. I can't wait to go back and try more as the menu is HUGE! read more

Service was efficient and friendly. I got a take out order and I didn't really like the potstickers. BUT I loved my drunken noodles . HUGE portion for $13 . I was able to make 2 meals out of it. That dish makes me think I like eating veggies. I will be back ! read more

The curry dishes look rather small. Is it really 13 for a small bowl of curry or do they have various sizes?
I haven't ordered it in house, but I've ordered it for takeout, and the portion is huge! It's about 1/2 quart. I couldn't finish it because I was stuffed.
