My wife and I recently visited this place since we were craving Thai cuisine. Neither of us had been before but it had been recommended to us by some Thailand natives who work at a local spa we frequent. I found it confusing when we first entered as I was not sure if we sat ourselves or had to wait to be seated. The only employees I saw were a waitress and the sushi chef. However, after we were seated a second waiter came for our drink orders. The sushi prep station sits in the middle of the restaurant and there is plenty of seating. After looking over the menu, I selected the Curry Noodles. My wife chose the poor man noodles with tofu. I liked the size of my dish but sadly the taste was off compared to other curries I've had at other places. My wife wasn't a fan of her food, and commented that the tofu tasted like fish. We went to Thai Bistro and tried the lettuce wrap ($8.50), tom yam soup with tofu (large, $11), and pad see ew ($12). My favorite was probably the tom yam soup! It had a strong lemongrass and chili flavor and came with a lot of tofu. It was delicious with Rice. The noodles in the pad see ew were chewy and the portion size was generous. The lettuce wrap was super fresh. The fillings included vermicelli and veggies, and it comes with a yummy ginger dressing. The service was quick and no frills. For dinner last night, I met with my sister-in-love, Lisa at Thai Bistro & Sushi on DeZavala. It's been a while since I've visited. We started with the Spring Rolls, which were huge like egg rolls. We could only eat one. I was excited to have the Pineapple Curry with roast duck and Lisa had the Eggplant and Basil with chicken. Generous portions here are enough to bring home leftovers. I love Thai food and had high expectations as the reviews were good. Quite disappointed with the food, everything was bland except for the egg drop soup. We tried the satay chicken, very dry and no spices were added not even salt. The spring rolls were vegetarian and burnt, also no flavor to them. Service is decent, the ambiance is a little odd in that it feels like three different places smashed together. We had the very good Tom Yum soup, middling Chicken Pad See Ewe and Woon Sen. Flavors were pretty basic, and the noodles were freshly wok'ed but without a bit of a sear on the noodles and veggies. Still very good, worth stopping in. (Did not try the sushi, but it looked fine.) My husband works down the street from Thai Bistro and I meet him here often for lunch. He eats his weight in pad Thai on a weekly basis and I can't say that I blame him! I almost always order curry when eating Thai food, and I had the green curry the last time we went. It was the perfect level of spice that I requested (a 2, their spice level goes from 1-4). It was a nice consistency and wasn't too thin or soupy. I like a curry that's got some girth to it. The lunch crowd gets busy, so I recommend to go a bit early if you want faster service. We usually have the same server and she's friendly, always smiling and chatty. Can't speak to the sushi, but would love to try it soon. My husband ordered the sesame chicken once and wasn't a fan. Wrapper was super thin & crispy. Insides were thin, flavorful and smooth. Yum! Pad Thai was good too. I could've handled a spice level up, but I had hot oil to take it up a notch. The portion was big! Solid pad Thai dish! I think I remember going to this place years and years ago. Was glad they were open until 10, because I really wanted Thai! Got take out tonight. 4 entrees and an appetizer. It was ready about 20 minutes after I ordered it. The dinners do not come with anything extra such as a spring roll. Speaking of spring rolls, there are 4 in an order and they are huge! Almost the size of egg rolls. They were light and fresh tasting and came with some sort of peanut sauce which was ok. A but too salty for my taste. Pad Woon Sen with chicken, medium level spice or 2 if you prefer. It was perfection. It was bursting with flavor and veggies. I wish there was more, even though I was full, my mouth just wanted to keep tasting it!! Pineapple fried rice with chicken was not my favorite. I've had this dish in several other Thai restaurants and it's always hit or miss. Here, it's made with a curry like sauce that I just didn't like the taste of. In my opinion, it overshadowed the rest of the dish. I couldn't taste anything else other than the curry sauce. All in all, I'd come back for sure, maybe dine in for a lunch special. The pad woon sen and spring rolls warrant giving this place another chance and trying some dishes. read more

Unfortunately another mediocre Asian option. I was hopeful because of the four stars, but our pad Thai tasted strongly of seafood despite there being no seafood in the dish. And I don't mean we ordered it without seafood. They don't serve pad Thai with seafood. Actually they don't serve any of their fried noodle dishes seafood, so they clearly don't clean their pans or anything in between cooking meals. The rice was good and the wontons were good. Found a new Thai favorite. Small, clean, friendly staff. Food was delicious and flavorful with good prices. Dragon roll was spicy and beautifully presented. I got red curry spice level 3. Fragrant, not watery like some curries I've had. Fried rice, especially the shrimp one, was delicious. I'm picky with fried rice and theirs was delicious. Not too salty or dry. The soft shell crab was also delicious, flavorful, and the sauce and vegetables they added were perfect. My bf said he prefers soft shell crab without all the sauce, but I think that's personal preference. Overall loved this place, will make it a regular place to try other items also. read more

Walked in on a busy Friday and got sat immediately! Service was great, we got the dumplings for our appetizer. Absolutely yummy, you can tell they are freshly made, very crispy, amazing flavor and the sauce was delicious! The San Antonio roll was so good as well, some of the best sushi I've had! Very fresh tasting, and you could taste every ingredient. Can't wait to try more of it. I got the Curry noodles medium spice which were absolutely delicious best of both worlds. And the pad Thai is a MUST HAVE, the flavors were amazing, I've never had such a delicious pad Thai, I was told by the owner that it is cooked up in the wok so you get the great Smokey flavors. The soup they bring out is very tasty! I enjoyed it. So good. We ordered fried spring rolls which were the best! The main course was sesame chicken for me with fried rice and it was absolutely amazing! So dam good! Full of flavor and very tasty. We came into this restaurant by accident as we picked up my dress after being altered at Joan's Alteration . Feeling hungry we decide to try the nearest restaurant. The place is very modest , interiors are no frill but the food was great . Upon ordering we were given right away a complimentary hot and sour soup which was flavorful and perfect for the cold weather day . We ordered the shrimp toast which was underwhelming with little shrimp and was heavy on the toast . My husband ordered the green chili curry which he loved only if it was more spicier it could have been perfect while I ordered the Angel shrimp which was very flavorful .
