Today was my third trip to Thai Dee. I was there for lunch. Why do I keep returning? Flavorful meals, welcoming staff and an affordable price. I'm not much concerned what side of town a place is on or what the exterior looks like. I'm interested in good food for a good price. Normally, I am somewhat of a salt abuser. Give me a big old salt lick block with my food. LOL! With Thai Dee, there's no need to add salt or pepper. The spices are balanced and the portions are enough to fill up an *ahem* husky man like me. The place itself was clean as usual, the interior makes you feel like you might be in an exotic and wonderful land. What's also great is how the staff is courteous, prompt and helpful. I've read reviews about how this place is the best for thai food in town. I've read other articles listing them at least a serious contender. I think they are great! I will be back. Again. read more

Give this place a chance! The exterior may be very discouraging, but the food makes up for it! I ordered Pad Thai and my friend ordered the Green Curry. The Pad Thai was very good. The beef was tender, as was the noodles. The lime gave it the perfect kick...I finished everything and it was totally worth it! :) The green curry came with a side of steamed white jasmine rice. Not too spicy, but very flavorful! I love Thai food, and this place ranks at the top of the list. It's BYOB, so the convenient store next door was quite convenient! :) Excellent and cheap way to catch up with old friends! Happy eating! read more

Grease heart attack! Sorry to poo-poo on the reviews, but gosh their food is so greasy! I came here for an early dinner a few days ago, after craving for Pad Thai. As the Pad Thai arrived, the first thing I noticed was how shiny it was. It was doused in grease. Yes, I admit the flavors were good and it had the perfect amount of spiciness, but the amount of grease they used was unnecessary. The service, however, is friendly. The prices are decent, and portions are relatively generous. Though, inside is so dim. I can understand they want to make it seem like a great date place, but it was so dark I was squinting to read the menu as were my friends. I don't think I will be back - there are many other good choices for Thai in SA. read more

I often come to this small Thai cuisine with extended family for little get-togethers and every time is it delicious for everyone. I recently had gone just as a normal dinner for my dad had suggested when I mentioned I wanted thai. Usually I would get a broccoli and chicken or chicken pad Thai, but due to a change in diet (pescitarian), I ordered the "Golden Sea" it was a beautiful medley of their thick noodles, vegetables, shrimp, squid, and muscles all in a delicious brown type of sauce. I was very impressed and plan to explore their seafood side of their menu more often. Service is always amazing and kind; it's not complicated to grab your waiter's attention due to the small space. I only have one complaint and it's about the noise. When we arrived, we chose the worst table. The people next to us were young kids constantly cussing, one guy was hacking, and laughing ever so obnoxiously. It is not the restaurants' fault of course, but the limited space and the boxy type shape of this restaurant, makes it impossible to have a low conversation when busy. Sound bounces of the walls onto your plates and it gets quite annoying especially when the loud people next to you have finished eating and don't leave for another 30 minutes. I recommend the restaurant buy out the store that shut down right next to it and expand! Anyway, love the people and love the food, this is a must try Thai. read more

I don't usually check in here because I get delivery from them. Don't be scared by the creepy location, once you get inside the restaurant it is quite nice. I get the same thing every time, garlic chicken and thai coffee. I had it the first time I went there and now, I never want to try anything else. The garlic chicken has carrots, broccoli, and snowpeas with garlic sauce and rice. The garlic is delicate, but the flavor is amazing. A good choice for people new to thai food. The Thai coffee is coffee with sugar and cream. Tastes like dessert! Thai Dee is family owned and they are always super friendly. They will customize dishes to your preferences, I always order without carrots and add extra broccoli. I Love that they deliver! read more

Very disappointed with the results of this 4.5 star 200 plus review restaurant. I took a couple of my peers to this place so we can try for first time. Soup served to start was a beef soup with little flavor. The thing that really killed this for me was the warm temperature of the soup. Many Thai restaurants I have been to serve better flavored hot fresh soup. I Ordered the Pad Thai combination plate and it did arrive hot, however the chicken, beef, and shrimp tasted cold and dry as if they pre cooked and added at last second. Shrimp was hard and just about cold. We order med hot and heat was just mild. We asked for hot oil and waiter forgot to bring. Overall I ate half my plate and I usually finish my meals. I frequently go to Bangkok Cuisine on Pat Booker and prefered that place alot more. Don't think I will try again read more

First my complaints, It might not be so bad during the week, but parking here on a Friday night at 6:30 was a nightmare! At least one of my friends parked across the street. Service was just OK, what I didn't like is that our food came out at different times, one or two people would get their meal, then a bit later another meal would come out and then a bit later, another. The interior is small and was crowded and very loud, making it hard to converse. They automatically added an 18% tip to the bill. The food? Ehh! Nothing special to be honest. Not in a huge hurry to get to my leftovers. I prefer Sawasdee, but as I live on the NE side, will look for a Thai restaurant a bit closer to home. read more

This place, and the neighborhood it's in, don't look horribly appealing from the outside. But my experience has showed me that those are the best kind of places to go sometimes if you want good food without spending an arm and a leg. Thai Dee is a perfect example of this. The inside is much nicer than the outside - it's a cozy wood-paneled restaurant that is clean and comfortable. Our service was prompt and friendly - the server we had was very nice and more than willing to make recommendations and answer questions for us. Their sweet jasmine tea is delicious and refreshing, but be advised that they aren't kidding when they call it sweet. You won't need to put any sugar whatsoever into it. It's really good though. As for the food, it was amazing. Our summer roll appetizer was yummy - BBQ pork and veggie goodness with sauce and peanuts on the side so that those who don't want the sauce or peanuts don't have to have them. Our entrees were equally good - I had a dish called Thai Dee Light, which was chicken, shrimp, and beef stir fried in a delicious light sauce with noodles. My dinner date had the green curry, and let me try it. It was among the best green curry I've had in a long time. The servings were also quite generous - we both ended up taking some home as it was impossible to finish it all in one sitting. This place definitely deserves the high marks it gets. Food was great! Like most thai restaurants in town, they use a lot of NFG (non functional garnish). I ordered pad thai and fried rice, both with beef and shrimp. It was seasoned well and had an authentic thai flavor. I also ordered garlic beef. The beef was really tender except i had three slices of beef that had connected tissues in them. It was a little to chewey. They served the beef as well with whole leaves of parsley which in my opinion would be better off if it was sliced in chiffonade. Lastly, there were a little too much ground pepper on top of the parsley leaves. Seasoning should be incorporated in the cooking process and not be used as garnish read more

If a 4.5 were available this would be it... I am torn between 4 and 5 but the atmosphere and the people pushed it over for me. If you want very good Thai in a cool little location look here. The inside feels a bit like a little slice of Thailand and doesn't feel like San Antonio in a good way. The location is easy to get to from most parts of town and I have found a ton of good food in this area despite it being a bit "off the beaten path". Food was really good! I tried the Moo Ping which is a delicious pork dish served with an amazing an spicy lime sauce and sticky rice. I would eat this for all 3 meals a day the guy at the front told me this is a traditional Thai street food eaten in the mornings. I tried the vegetable egg rolls as well as a starter and they were good. Nothing life changing but a nice roll with great sauce. Overall the staff was really friendly and helpful. The guy at the front asked about my experience and then chatted with me about where the food was from and how it is usually eaten which I thought was cool. He told me more about the amazing lime sauce and really seemed to know his stuff. This is my Thai place for San Antonio trips! read more

How did I not know about this place? Went for lunch today after my college age son suggested it. Apparently it is well know among his college community. A hidden gem! 4 of us went, each had a different lunch special and they were all delicious! The soup that arrived just seconds after we sat down was my first clue ... a rich flavorful broth with fresh veggies and generous portion of meat. My tofu basil noodles were delicate with the fresh basil taste really coming trough. Also tasted the Pad Thai (very good!) and the curry noodles (with chicken) is what I'm going back for! They only have takeout during Covid. Everything I have ever ordered has been delicious. When the dining room is open, the service is very good also. It can be hard to get them on the phone, but it's worth the effort to keep trying. The reason I don't give them 5 stars: when the dining room is open they are so popular that they are always packed, and you can't have a conversation because of the noise level. read more

My bff lives else where and was in her kitchen w/ her mom making curry shrimp and rice w/ coconut milk. Hearing them talk about condense milk and coconut milk, my mind began to wonder.. Mmmm, Google. Zooming to the curry section, I stumbled across at least 10 dishes, all while glancing at my bff picture of her absolutely delicious dish, I showed her a picture of what I wanted. If you want to know what pic, pull up the menu and look, please. After leaving the dealership, I raced to the restaurant (9 miles away from where I was). I pulled in a parking lot that was fully packed! I mean no spots, didn't feel comfortable parking in the side of the little shopping center next door so I waited for a spot ( which took 2 mins). Don't be alarm when you see the place let me tell you. DON'T JUDGE THIS BOOK BY ITS COVER. I parked and walked in, mouth hung wide open when I walked into this cozy spot. Ppl were smiling, customers were excited. AND NO ONE MENTIONED TO ME it was BYOB! I waited 3 mins for a seat, didn't like where they seated me. Then 2 seconds later, I was asked if I could relocated due to a party of 15! Sure, I mean I didn't want to sit there any way. I moved to side. Ordered veggie egg rolls, simply amazing. Meanwhile, waitress kept taking chairs from my four seater to satisfy the rather large party. -.- MOVING ON, Sweet tea, oh my goodness, perfect! I showed the waitress the pic of the menu and said, " I want this, please add shrimp( $3more)" she then came out with my food with steamed rice. The service was great but I have never had Thai food before, I thought it would be close to Chinese food, which I love, but I got Beef Pad Thai and I didn't like it from the first whiff. I tried to force myself to eat it but I just didn't like it at all! It had a weird smell and weird sweetness about it. The crab rangoons were good, actually had crab in them but an overall disappointment. I drive by there all of the time and they are always busy so I figured it must be delicious. Truly, coming from a community with delicious Asian food split out by country (example, it is NOT OKAY that a Chinese or Thai Restaurant serves Sushi...why????? It tasted like salty fat soup...which is not the worst thing in the world, but again for the price is not acceptable. I ordered pad kee mao and was soooo disappointed. They are not using the right noodles. They used broad flour noodles BUT broad rice noodles are supposed to be used...thus the reason the dish was fricking not worth the calories eating it. Oh did I mention it was greasy!? The flavor was not bad, but soooo did not make up for that overly cooked greeezzzy noodles and the tragic free soup....oh and I almost forgot the unmemorable egg rolls. This place is a nice little hidden gem. We went for lunch and the portions are very generous. Actually, three lunch entrees for the three of us turned out to be too much (we had the equivalent of an entree left over). We ordered the pad kee mau, red curry and panang curry. This place is vegetarian friendly. During lunch, they offer egg rolls and the soup of the day as sides to your entree. We had also brought a bottle of white wine as it is BYOB and also ordered the Thai iced tea which was delicious. Parking is scare out front but manageable. I would return! read more

This little Thai restaurant is now our favorite Thai food place in the entire city. Very generous portions and top-notch service! I went to dinner here with a group of 7 on Monday evening and we chose the restaurant based on yelp reviews. The restaurant is somewhat hidden next to a gas station and has been the unfortunate victim of graffiti artists, but as soon as we walked in, we were greeted warmly and our server was amazing! She answered all of our questions about the menu and made recommendations as well. The Thai iced tea was perfect! For appetizers we ordered the vegetable spring rolls, pot stickers and shrimp pancake. I liked the spring rolls the best. Our group ordered moo ping (just like Filipino bbq on a stick!!), Thai Fried Rice, Pad Thai with Tofu (so much tofu!!!), Kao Soi, Beef Salad and Panang Curry (better the next day). In my opinion the food was good and I was amazed at how much food they give you. There are three Thai restaurants that are much closer to me and none of them give you portions this big for the same price. Also, I have to say that the service at this restaurant was incredible. Love this place! I have been going here for years! It's gained a lot of attention over the years but the food hasn't changed!

Crispy Green Curry Noodles. And boom goes the dynamite. This is probably the best option for Thai food that I've found within Loop 410. The place looks like a shack and a half from the outside, located at the corner of Dresden and Blanco, next to a shady looking convenience store. The parking lot is kind of uneven, but there should be plenty of parking for most groups. Once you get inside it opens up into a cozy shack (the South Pacific kind) with very comfortable Asian decor lining the walls, with a small bar located in the back. After seating ourselves, a waiter happily greeted us and got our drink orders. At $7-8 each, the long lunch menu offers a lot of different options, with your choice of beef, chicken and tofu. We ordered pad thai, pad see ew and the green curry noodles listed as the "Chef's Specially", which was specially good. Like why don't more places make it like this good. The pad thai and pad see ew were all above average, not too thick, not too bland. The only downside was that the beef was pretty consistently on the overcooked side, but that could be overlooked as both the price and the specialty was good. read more
