Service was terrible. It took over 1/2 hour to even get water, and nearly another half hour to get our food. Our server was cold and rude and barely spoke English, so we had to ask her to repeat herself time and time again and she got more annoyed and rude each time we did. The food was awful and expensive; I only ordered a side of pork fried rice and the pork was tasteless, and the rice wet and gooey. I didn't even eat half of it because it was awful. Normally I have enough from a side order to take home for a second meal, but there wouldn't have been, and it was over $15 for a side of rice and an iced tea. Never again. read more

When I arrived I was greeting right away and seated. The server was attentive, until they started getting a bit busier. It was lunch time, and the restaurant started filling up quickly. The food was delicious and served hot. But I did have to flag down the waitress when I finished up. I was left alone and my dining experience was pleasant. A delicious little Thai place with very inexpensive dishes. I actually thought the dinner menu was the lunch menu because of the low prices. I got their Musmun curry with tofu, which was only $10.99 and was served with white rice. Most restaurants spell the dish "Massaman"; the ingredients were identical (onions, carrots, potatoes, peanuts, peanut sauce, and your choice of protein). I got the dish mild and it was still very flavorful. I asked if they did "mild plus", but they do not do half heat levels. They have four spice levels (mild, medium, hot, and extra hot). They also have a spice caddy they can bring you upon request. The restaurant was clean and the service was fast and friendly. It didn't have much in the way of decorations, but the food was delicious and inexpensive; can't go wrong with that! read more

They have the best customer service and every single thing that I've eaten there has been better than any other Thai restaurant I've ever been to my son and I left to get their two person dinner combo. Because of the high reviews on Yelp and the amount of people inside, decided to check it out. Shocked that the menu had both Thai and other Asian food. I tend to gravitate towards Mongolian Beef but when I saw that it was made with bell peppers, had to pass. Let my son choose the items. We started with shrimp spring rolls which was really good. Got orange chicken which was too breaded and too sweet. Required chili sauce and the steamed rice. The pad Thai noodles were very tasty. Service was not so great. read more

This place continues to deliver both in high quality food and service. The atmosphere could use a little improvement, the air conditioner always seems set to freezing, but everything else is right on the money. They provide decent size portions for a very fair price. I cannot resist ordering their Duck Noodle Soup and Chicken Pad Thai. Both were tasty and made me so glad we came. Terrible Thai restaurant, we ordered lunch. One is chicken cashew nut. The food too dark and the nut is peanut not cashew nut lol. The waiter girl who wear a glasses so rude. Whenever I travel 58 #ThaiHachapi is a must! Always soo good.. satisfying.. and fresh! Always have to grab 2 bags of their homemade rice treats.. like nothing you've ever had! Of course, I got pineapple rice and sticky mango rice to go..(pics later for sure).. I'll be enjoying this gem of a restaurants food for the rest of the week! 5 yrs is too long.. Highly recommend. My go-tos are the Panang Curry, Pad Thai, and the Pineapple Fried Rice. The Thai Tea is also delicious.

My friend who is from Tehachapi and I (from LA) were pleasantly surprised to have found a place that had authentic and good Asian food. In a town where there's not much, I was really impressed by the flavors and authenticity of each dish. It was pretty funny that they only had forks at each table and no chopsticks unless you requested for them. I was probably the only Asian person there besides the staff in town. Although they are advertised as a Thai place, it is more of an Asian fusion place with many Chinese offerings. I'm a big fan of Thai food and was really looking forward to some tasty Thai food when I came to Thai Hachapi. Although the food was well prepared, it unfortunately was pretty bland. I asked for spicy level 4 (out of 5) and could not taste any spice whatsoever. The chicken satay was tender and delicious. The peanut sauce was not spicy either, but did have an interesting fruity undertone that made up for it. All in all, I would not go back here. read more

I ordered takeout and went with the basics for the first time: green curry chicken with rice and potstickers. The potstickers were great, smallish, crunchy, good filling and the basic sauce provided. Green curry was flavorful and fresh, with tender white meat chicken. The only downside was I ordered medium spicy, and either they didn't believe me or you should order up on the spicy scale if you like your food with some kick. I had a fairly negative experience in Tehachapi for a weekend getaway, and the food was a huge factor in that bad time. Our Airbnb host recommended Thai Hachapi to us as one of the local favorites. We called ahead to order, the person on the phone was polite and made the process really easy. We were pretty excited because the other dining options in the area weren't as eye-catching. We drove on over to find a cute, seemingly-abandoned street in downtown Tehachapi. My fight-or-flight activated when I saw all the diners and passersby without masks. There wasn't a single mask in sight! I walked in and my food was given to me by a man with no mask on, which was fairly concerning. The woman and kitchen workers had PPE on though. After the experience that was getting the food, we were really let down when we started eating it. The curry was runny like soup and the steamed vegetables weren't very tasty. The tofu was bland and far too soft. To top it off, there was an excessive use of styrofoam. I don't recommend traveling to Tehachapi at all, but, if you do, then Thai Hachapi is probably still your best bet. I'm happy my money went to people of color in this small, oddly-conservative town. Just temper your expectations. read more

Not the greatest Pad Thai I've ever had, but not the worst, either. The server didn't ask me about the spiciness level, so for once, I ended up with a really mild dish, which was a bit of a surprise. Like many other Thai places, they don't serve hot coffee (why?..) but the bottled Perrier water was a very nice surprise! Make sure to order the side of steamed vegetables: at just $2.50, it's a real steal - and very delicious as well. What a great find on my first trip to Tehachapi! Normally I get a picture, but this one was so good we gobbled it up before I could get one. Sorry Tom kha coconut soup was creamy and delicious, filled with chicken and just the right spices. We had Pad Thai with 4 giant shrimp, very fresh. In short, this place has great food and great service! I am debating about whether or not this has been my best food experience in Tehachapi. There are a lot of great places to eat for such a small town, but I'm going to have to say, that so far, since I have moved nearby, my dining experience here was the best! My wife and I tried several things, since it was our first visit: The Pad Thai (with tofu) was amazing! They don't have one of those sticky/cheap peanut sauces - they use crushed peanuts. It's simple, yet elegant. The noodles and light and fluffy. It was so yummy! The Beef & Broccoli similarly avoided the cheap candy-like sauces some places use in these types of dishes. The oyster sauce was flavorful without being overly sweet. It was a fresher/lighter taste than many places have in tis dish. Simply wonderful! The Mongolian Beef was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The nifty plastic containers they provide with the dishes are perfect for take out and storing leftovers in the fridge. They were very nice to us, and we had a nice night sitting at the steel table out front, listening to the music over the speakers on F STreet and eating our perfectly prepared thai food! read more

The foods very good. I love their yellow curry. However..every time I have ordered it (about 4 times now) the onions in it are that outer layer of the onion that's half husk, half inner onion. I end up picking those out. Their wontons have next to no filling. Like pea size, no joke. read more
