WOW! What an epic find. Tucked away in a strip mall in Scott's Valley you will find Thai Heart just waiting to dazzle you. So good I am struggling to find the words. Seriously fantastic barely covers it. The couple that run this oasis of goodness are so gracious and kind it will make your day to visit their charming restaurant. We had the fresh spring rolls and an order of chicken with garlic pepper in a thai sauce unlike no other. Prices are fair and portions are generous. So excited to have found this gem. Thai Heart is part of the heart of this community. I don't have lots of money to go out to eat very often but when I do I will happily spend my money here. Although they seem to only do take out now ( I have been there to dine in before covid too) I am always happy either way. I support local businesses but I especially love to support businesses that I get ultra good vibes from. I've always loved their food, fresh, hot, spicy or mild. I have asked for no sugar a couple times (in the curry) or no bamboo, or extra spicy. They are always happily accommodating. The family that owns a his place is amazing, so sweet, I love going here when I can. If you want excellent, fresh, authentic Thai food, with family friendly service go here! This review is based on two visits that I made to this place when I used to work in the area. I was surprised as this place serves pretty decent Thai food for the area where there aren't too many options to eat at. The first time I visited I had the Chicken green curry with white rice which was tasty and the flavours came out well. The taste of coconut wasn;t too over-bearing and it was just the right consistency. The second time I went I tried the Cashew chicken with brown rice - this was just a bit too watery for my liking. I expected it to have less gravy and more of a stir fry than it was. The salad served with it was refreshing though. read more

Everything was very fresh and so well cooked. Loved the chicken with green curry, pineapple fried rice & fresh rolls!! Next time I'm bringing my own take-out containers because there's too much single-use plastic everywhere you go these days. Quick mom note to the entitled bitch giving 1 star complaining the business owners didn't rush out to her overly pampered ass waiting to be served in her car with her baby asleep. ARE YOU F-ing KIDDING ME??? Guess what, literally millions of other moms know how to take a sleeping baby (already in a removable carseat) out of the damn car to run errands. Some even have other kids they are juggling. How completely stupid are you thinking the only 2 people running the entire restaurant business during an impossibly long pandemic can just stop answering their phone or stop cooking to come out & run your credit card and/ or bring out your food just because you are lazy and entitled??? A busy female chef peeked up from cooking to see who was complimenting the clearly great meals being made. He was incredibly kind as he juggled getting orders packaged, running my card, and taking new orders. It looked to me that just the 2 of them were running the entire restaurant. I can't imagine how hard that is, especially through this challenging pandemic. 3.75 STARS! Seriously, this spot, hands down, beats the spots where we live. Their food was nice, hot and tasty enough! We had just come from ziplining, and we were famished, and their yummy food hit the spot! We will stop by again for a quick bite of their chicken and seafood fried rice and panang curry again. In the area for business. Exhausted and needed a take out dinner. Regrettably I'm not from the area because this place was awesome. I'd be ordering from here at least once a week if I lived nearby. One of the items we ordered was the spicy seafood but not spicy. Now I understand I'm completely changing this dish by taking out its namesake. When I arrived to pick up the food, I ran into the chef and we chatted a little about how she created this sauce for my "spicy seafood" but without one of its main ingredients (spice). She seemed a little worried but I told her whatever she came up with I'm sure it would be fine. Pick up went smoothly. Food packaged nicely. Husband/wife team (assuming they are owners) both so friendly and welcoming. No issues finding parking in the lot on a Saturday evening. And the food was amazing. So delicious. That "spicy" seafood was the star!! So flavorful. Seafood is so hard to get right but every component was perfectly cooked and the amount you get is generous. Even the vegetables were cooked perfectly (very important to me). Also not overly sauced. The chef here is top notch for sure. This little town is very lucky to have such a talented chef. The owners are a super nice local couple that get to know their customers and will make modifications and cater to your needs and tastes. All food is cooked to order. We love the soups, silver noodles, pad gra pow, fried rice, eggplant, and curries. Tons of vegetarian and vegan options, and they even have brown rice. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable for our area. Generally, food is out quickly. This is a small, family place, so sometimes the food will take a little longer, especially if you are coming later, as they have only one person in the kitchen. This doesn't bother us, because we plan for them making the food to order; just know that this may not be super fast if busy, but it will be made just for you! Waited a long time to be acknowledged, and he finally just gestured at a table. Had to get my own menus. Hurried past for 20 minutes saying he would bring water. Finally (impatiently) took our order, which took 48 minutes for the first dish and 57 minutes for the last one. The salmon was good, the pad thai was just okay; the duck curry was so-so with very little duck, and the gravy noodles were meh. We love Thai heart! The Chicken salad is so good my mouth is watering thinking about it. The Fresh Ginger Stir Fry or Greenbeans are served with a generous amount of shrimp and the Pumkin and Chicken curry is a must. The owners are lovely and super hardworking. When you go in to pick up, the phone is constantly ringing but they do their very best to get your piping hot food ready and packed up nicely for transit. Mom and pop shop restaurant that serves so-so food. The interior is simple which is fine. However, the food would not be worth driving for. I was in the area visiting a customer so I did not drive out of my way for them. The fish cakes were a bit oily, but the soup they provided for lunch was good tasting. The vegetables were cooked perfectly the fish was lightly battered and well seasoned and the shrimp was cooked but not over cooked. The sauce was amazing. I will definitely be back. read more

They did such an amazing job not only getting all the food prepared in time but packaged it in large catering trays in cardboard boxes for easy transportation. Not sure if the gentleman who helped me was the owner, but his dedication to Thai Heart was obvious in his effort to go the extra mile for his customers. Not only is hand sanitizer readily available at the counter, but this gentleman also sanitized my card and the machine that processed my payment. Corona virus who? He also repurposed a cardboard box to carry my takeout in. Trimming the cardboard box with a knife took a few seconds, but I appreciated his attention to detail and the convenience this afforded me. My SO and I ordered: 1. Vegetable spring rolls with peanut sauce- tasty, but if you're not a vegetarian like me and my boyfriend, go for the shrimp spring rolls to add another dimension. It was refreshing, but by the third roll, it tasted like a wrapped salad with peanuts. (Another example of attention to detail- the rolls were cling wrapped into separate compartments such that it was one whole unit, but upon unwrapping, you got one roll at a time). 2. Spicy peanut curry with chicken- solid Thai curry, but not spicy at all. Reminded me of yellow curry with peanuts. Maybe indicate a higher spice level when ordering? Also purchased a side of rice to go with the curry and this side was huge. It was more than enough to split between two people. 3. Pad kee mao/ Spicy noodles/ Drunken noodles- my favorite meal from here bc how jam packed it was with flavor and veggies. See pic for detail. It was so good that my SO, who notoriously "forgets" to eat leftovers, made it a point to pack these leftovers for our 2 hour drive home and actually ate it the next day. Not what we're used too, very oily. My hubby and I love Thai. We check out Thai places every where we go. We've been to numerous ones up and down the east coast and now starting in the West. We flew into San Jose and stopped in Scott Valley for lunch. The soup was very different. Oily, spicy, sour, strange. Not a fan. I got my favorite, Pad Thai. The noodles were very mushy. Flavor not the greatest either. Hubby got the beef noodle soup which he normally loves. He wasn't a fan of it here. We also got the chicken Satay, another fav. It was so bad I didn't finish it. The peanut sauce was so oily it just slipped off the satay when you tried dipping it. The waiter was nice. We wouldn't come back here though. read more

This has happened multiple times I've been here as well as other frustrated customers sitting in the lobby waiting and waiting. I loved Thai Heart for years! It was always cash...until recently... Then along with adding credit card...they seem to have lost quality AND service. Went in with another on a fairly slow night ... Ordered fresh spring rolls....they came out and looked and tasted like a 10 year old YouTubed "how to make a "spring roll".... He had drunken noodles....flavorless and fairly sad ... I ordered panag curry with tofu...let's come back on this There was a group of about 8 that entered at least 30minutes after us.... Out starts to come rounds of curry, fresh soup and appetizers for thier party...I'm still watching my date eat his food..... I finally said..maybe we should go... 5min later....he went to ask for the check... 10 min later.....check starts to come.... But noh! He realized I didn't have food and within 5 minutes there was panag curry and he was asking if I wanted it..... I told them to go ahead and box it and we were ready to go.... Even worse ... When I get home to eat it....it's bland and the veggies are under cooked and didn't have the same flavor I know for this curry... Sorry...never again. My partner and I were headed to Monterey/Carmel for a weekend trip and stopped in Scott's Valley for dinner at Thai Heart. Yelp led us here and it was such a satisfying meal. The restaurant itself is super cute. I don't know if the owners are Thai, but our server was. It was cold out, but we really wanted to sit out in the quiet on the patio. He promptly wiped down a table and brought out chairs for us. The night was so clear and peaceful. We had the large Singha beer to share. The glass was cold and the beer was cold. So refreshing and a perfect start to our meal. We also got the fresh spring rolls. Good portion size and the peanut sauce was on point. I ordered the green curry with tofu. The flavor was really nice, but I thought the sauce was a bit too watery. Otherwise, it was delicious. Bae ordered a VERY spicy pad se ew with chicken. He loved it and sweated through it.
