I'm not sure if the chef is new, but I gave this restaurant a second chance after not loving it last year. This time around the papaya salad was perfect, and everything else we ordered (vegetable pad thai, green and red curry, tom yum soup, mixed vegetables with shrimp, and several other dishes) were very good. Went here on a casual "date" night with the boyfriend. And with a restaurant.com gift certificate... we are so romantic. Anyway, we had to spend $45 just to use the certificate and this resulted in a LOT of food. Instead of writing lengthy paragraphs, I'll try to make this easier on the eyes... -Portion sizes are amazing for the price -Crying Tiger, really delicious (juicy beef) but the dipping sauce will make you cry... it's spicy! -Chicken satay, I was in love with the peanut sauce more than the chicken, ended up dipping the crying tiger beef in it as well. We licked that bowl clean (Everything is better with peanut sauce) -Spicy basil beef - delicious but not my favorite... definitely spicy and well-flavored, plenty of rice and veggies to go with it -Massaman - the clear winner of the night! Amazing flavor, haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I always go for Penang curry but I think I just found a new fave... Thai kitchen is tied for my favorite Thai restaurant in Saint Louis. The food is always great and the service is always on point. I used to get carry out from here on a regular basis, however if you eat in you get a 10% discount! To get the discount code you just need to go to their website. My favorite thing to get is the Panang Curry with beef. I do wish they would use red peppers instead of green, however that is not a deal breaker. The Pad Thai is also very good here. For people that are sensitive to spice the Pineapple Fried Rice is awesome and very sweet instead of spicy. All things considered I would give this place a solid 4 out of 5 stars. If prices came down a little bit and if they would use red instead of green peppers this would become my favorite Thai restaurant in Saint Louis and it would get a full 5 stars! read more

Pros: Massive servings. Cons: Pretty cramped and BUSY during my lunch visit, no lunch menu (or lunch plates), sorta pricey, service isn't friendly, food doesn't have great flavor. Details: Stopped here for lunch with co-workers and had to wait for a little to get a table for 3. Once we did, the table was wiped with a wet towel and menus slapped on top. Gross. Every now and then you come across a restaurant that just blows your expectations out of the water and hits you with a tsunami of flavor...this is the case with Thai Kitchen. One day when we had a hankering for Thai food, my lady and I ran across this place and ordered some chow for delivery. What we received was an order packed with range of fresh and savory flavors. Some solid commendations are the Beef Noodle Soup, Pad Thai, Andaman Fried Rice and Thai iced tea. The beef noodle had delicious fresh noodles and bean spouts with a spicy broth with hints of cilantro and green onion. And the beef was tender and juicy and not overcooked. Highly recommend! The Andaman Fried Rice was tasty with lots of shrimp, squid and crab meat...it pairs perfectly with a bit of sriracha. My lady got the Pad Thai and Crab Rangoon and said they were both fantastic as well. Give these guys a try. read more

I was visiting while on business and decided to try this place based on the positive reviews. I was disappointed. I called in my order for chicken pad thai and it was ready when I got there. However, the service was so so. The lady seemed stuck up and never looked at me. I paid with credit card and after signing my receipt, she just took it without saying anything. No "Thank you" or nothing. The only good thing was the portions were huge. My food was a least a couple of pounds heavy when I took it. However, the pad thai was not appetizing. I've tried pad thai at other places and there usually is a sweet, uniquely pad thai flavor. This one was bland and flavorless. The chicken was scarce and dry. It was almost like they just put some noodles together and added soy sauce. There seemed to be no thought in making the dish. Someone working at McDonalds could make it better! fantastic & definitely worth the drive from the city. There are 13 much more eloquent reviews behind me, so I'll just mention a few highlights: A) the beef satay was incredible. Just as worthy was the peanut dipping sauce. Usually it's thin, creamy peanut butter, but this was flavorful with a kick. B) $1.50 for a piece of roti is a bit much, but definitely worth it. I ordered delivery and the quantity of food was generous. Most items were priced with beef/chicken or tofu and for seafood, the restaurant was going to charge $2 more and then changed to $1 more when I told them it was too much. Spicy noodle was OK but the noodle needs to be cooked more. The reason for 2 stars was the delivery guy who insisted and asked for more tip. I don't think the delivery guy should ask for his share and insist money from the customer. read more

This place is all about the food. Now, from reading a few other reviews, I have to say I've only had Thai food in St. Louis. However, I have had it at many different places in St. Louis. Thai Kitchen is my favorite hands down. I get take out from here quite often for lunch and I've never had a bad or off day. Consistently great. I typically get either the pagnan or masaman curry with tofu. Every now and then I throw in the crispy veggie rolls or fried tofu with peanut sauce. I've had these same items at other Thai restaurants; Thai Kitchen always comes out as the winner for taste and the most for your $. There's not much in the way of atmosphere here. Remember, you're going for the food. Or take out. They even deliver to addresses in the area! The service is always fast, and while they are never rude, I do feel as though I need to get in and get out because they're really that busy! read more

I currently travel to St. Louis for work and caught a bad cold so all I wanted was some noodle soup to warm me up and soothe my throat. Saw this place on yelp so I decided to try it. When I called in, I asked them what their best noodle soup is and he responded "the tom yum!" So tom yum is what I ordered in addition to a thai iced tea to meet the minimum delivery charge (long work days + down with a cold, I'm allowed to be lazy right?). Now I'll break it down. Likes: - delivery was quick; they said 30 min, it came in 20. Pleasantly surprised - tom yum noodle soup portion was big. Couldn't finish it in one sitting - i noticed that they actually provide you with a good amount of seafood. I'm used to getting gypped but this soup was overflowing with chicken, crab meat, shrimp, squid etc! To the extent of having too much - flavors were good, nothing was overpowering. Dislikes: - I notice this with most noodle soup deliveries so it's not necessarily something I'll minus a star for but the noodles come all stuck together that you end up tearing chunks off and end up with short bits of noodles instead of long strands. Perhaps they can add a bit of sesame or olive oil to the noodle take out so that they don't all stick together? - thai iced tea could be renamed to "ice and some tea." Definitely more ice than thai tea. - slightly pricier than other thai places I've been to Would def go back to try other items on their menu. read more

I love Thai Kitchen. It's close by, so I've eaten there many, many times. The menu is extensive, and I try to branch out, but I love my favorites so much. Some of my go-to dishes include: Thai Toast: baguette slices with ground chicken and sesame seeds broiled until crispy. Buttery, savory, deliciousness. Tom Kha Kai Soup: creamy coconut soup with chicken, lemongrass, mushrooms, and cilantro. Good for a starter. Fried Tofu: served with peanut sauce for dipping and a cucumber and red onion salad. The tofu is perfectly crispy on the outside and silky inside. Crying Tiger: as many have said, the flavors are the bomb. Thin sliced beef with a killer dipping sauce on a small bed of lettuce. Nam Sod Chicken: hot ground chicken with scallions, red onion, chile, peanuts, and shreds of ginger. Serious ginger flavor, here. Served with cabbage, which I always order extra of. Enough for an entree, plus leftovers. Panang Curry: creamy, peanutty, just the right amount of spice. Pick your protein, I usually go for chicken or tofu with extra vegetables. It includes basil and green peppers. Thai Rama: Your straight-up peanut sauce entree. And the peanut sauce is sooo amazing. I always order it with chicken. It's served with sliced carrots on a bed of fresh baby spinach, which is a nice fresh, light touch. Comes with rice too. Yellow Curry Noodle Soup: I love this one on a cold day. The yellow curry flavor turned into a soup feature rice noodles, bean sprouts, herbs, and chicken (or beef.) It should say in the menu "Vat of Yellow Curry Noodle Soup," because the serving is massive. MASSIVE. I ate and ate and ate, and didn't get through a third of it. Makes excellent leftovers. Of course, the Thai Ice Tea is excellent as well, and nice and strong. Definitely check this place out for excellent Thai. read more

My family and I eat here regularly. It's our go-to spot for Thai food in the STL area. We moved here from SoCal and needed to find "home" style Thai food that isn't too westernized. Followed impulse and met my dad for lunch yesterday at Thai Kitchen; have been there before and would only echo the comments below about the random TV, derth of decor, efficiency of service, strip-mall location. They have good, fresh, hot food fast. I ordered Panang Curry and carried half of it home, but not because I didn't want to scarf it all down. My dad had a soup, I think beef rare with rice noodle. It was a massive portion, enough for three meals, and sadly got abandoned on the table due to an inability to consume or carry. The server steered him away from the "beef noodle soup - combination" and I wasn't entirely sure why but I think it had some of the more exotic cow parts included. To the comments below it bears adding that you don't have to sit at your table and wait for your bill to arrive. And if it's lunch, you shouldn't wait; there's probably someone who wants your table. When you're finished, you just go to the counter and pay. They know who you are. read more

The only thing keeping this place from a 5-star rating is the slow lunch service, but they were CRUSHED today and that is always bad news for good service. I had the papaya salad. It was a nest of julienne green papaya, carrots, cabbage and peanut vinegarette with some tomato.... and it rocked! Little slices of red thai chili kept the taste buds dancing. I'm a bit of a "city snob," I'll happily admit that. I proudly live in the city, play in the city, and nearly exclusively dine in the city. But I do work in the Westport area, and at least once a month my co-workers and I indulge in what we endearingly call "Thai Thursday." And Thai Thursday always means the Thai Kitchen. As you can imagine, after being regulars for a couple years they know us here. The staff is awesome. They're often "strictly business" during the frenzied lunch hour, but in the midst of all their hurried work are always pleasant and friendly. I have only eaten here for lunch, but you simply *cannot* beat the portions you get for the price you pay (about $7.95 a plate). I love the "Spicy Noodle," and their Pad Thai is a heaping, flavorful dish. My co-workers usually get either the green or red curried rice dishes with vegetables. Often they will get one of the soups, and the amount of fresh, flavorful ingredients and (again) huge portions should make Mai Lee feel damned ashamed of themselves. Appetizers are great as well. The Papaya Salad is zesty and spicy at the same time and exceptional. The fried tofu is another favorite. Goes great with a Thai coffee. To get my fifth star, a place needs to have "it" when it comes to environment. TK is just fine for lunch, but a bit small and can often be cramped in there. Love this place.. it's not nearly as crowded if you're a local and go for dinner. Tonight we were one of only 3 tables. Lots of takeout orders going out though. I actually branched out from my beloved red curry into a Panang Curry.. creamy peanut sauce, green peppers and a meat of your choice. YUM! Dining companion had the Masaman (I came close on the spelling at least) curry, with meat, potato, and onion. His only complaint was that he asked for it extra hot and they didn't believe him. Even I didn't think it was spicy, and I'm a huge wimp. Of course we had to start with the Crying Tiger - as if you haven't heard enough about that from other reviewers. I get it every single time I'm there and it's delicious every single time! With some tea and a Diet Coke it set us back $36 plus tip. Bring two stomachs! This is the kind of place you walk by and never go in. It's next to a dingy bar in Maryland Heights so it can't be that great right? Good Thai food should be in a place like Clayton, or downtown right? WRONG! This place is the place for Thai food in St. Louis. I literally passed on this place a hundred times until a few co workers told me how great it was. I'm glad they recommended it because I was missing out. Not sure what dish is my absolute favorite. I have not tried all the curries yet because I am scared. A buddy I go there with always gets the curry "Thai Spicy" because he believes that all Thai restaurants serve curry gringo spicy (not a full dose of heat). I will say that their Thai Iced Tea is awesome. I guess since I can't put my finger on a favorite dish I would just advise you to just share. The portions are huge, and they always give you extra plates. This is the Thai version of Italian family style food! Thinking about the dishes and if I would have to pick my least favorite it would be the Chicken with peanut sauce, and coconut milk. This restaurant is pretty on point when it comes to Thai food. We got a fairly large sampling of the different types of dishes on the menu. All three appetizers we had ordered, the fresh spring roll, fried spring roll, and chicken dumpling, were all great. The friend spring rolls were crisp and fresh, not too greasy. The fresh spring rolls were filled with vegetables and served with a sweet hoisin sauce. All over very good appetizer quality. The entrees, pad see ew and catfish stir fry, were both hot, fresh, spicy, and had a great balance of flavors. Nothing was ever too salty or too bland. Pros: all food items experienced were fresh and had excellent flavors. Service was very quick and efficient. Cons: menu items are 2-5 dollars more expensive than most other Thai restaurants I've been to. Serving sizes are not that big. read more

OK, The dining room is a little spartan like other posters noted-but it is clean and the service is attentive. Though initially I was a bit put off by the slightly higher prices-the quality and portion sizes for my dinner more than made up for it. Started with the delicious Tam Kha Kai soup: the broth and coconut soup was chock full of chicken, mushrooms, slivers of galangal, and a little lime leaf topped generously with freshly chopped cilantro and bits of a small red chili pepper that perked up my taste buds when found. Just enough heat and lime juice to keep it interesting. $3.95 for a small bowl. My entree was the House Special-Pad Wood Sen Seafood. A wonderful assortment of sauteed seafood including: shrimp, mussels, squid, imitation crab, sliced fishball with crunchy cabbage, sliced carrots, green onions, baby corn slices, and green and red sweet bell pepper mixed in with fried egg and clear mung bean noodles. Though it was listed as mild-just add a generous splash of the Sriracha Thai Chili sauce that's on each table to give it the heat you want. Served with a generous dollop of rice and priced at $11.95 for dinner . The dinner portion would probably be enough for one "average" person (versus the hollow-legged Yelper) and with enough remaining for some leftovers for the next day's lunch. (It's priced at $8.95 at lunch time.) It's a great little place for a satisfying Thai meal. It's a decent Thai restaurant around the area. The food is good when you're craving quick and easy Thai food. You can also get it to go if you want to eat it at home. They are very timely when making the food to go as well and the service at the restaurant is good too. Usually I just order my curry at home and enjoy it while watching a movie. My favorite thing to order is the Red and Green curry. The veggie style is also just as good as the meat options but the price stays about the same even though it has only vegetables in it. The fried rice is also always a good option. Watch for the specials because on occasion they feature their duck specials and those are amazing. The only reason I wouldn't give it five stars is because of the price for anything extra you'd like to add. It's almost $4 to add a side of curry sauce. They noodle dishes also aren't the best. Luckily, this little gem is close to where we stay in Creve Coeur, so we pop in every once in a while. The papaya salad just hits the spot every time with the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. The noodle dishes are good, but not great. The curry is definitely above average, and it reminds me why I like Thai curry more than Indian curry. For St. Louis, this is one of the better Thai restaurants out there. It feels pricey but they give you large portions. I would give it 3.5 stars and consider 4 stars if it was very cheap. Made a quick stop for take-out yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Quite a menu in this "off the beaten path" location. Went with my traditional order of "drunken noodles" or spicy noodles as they are called on their menu. Warning--ordering "maximum spicy" will get set your tongue and tummy afire! I ordered take out from Thai Kitchen so I can't speak for the actual restaurant. This is the first Thai place that I've ever known to offer this service. The phone call to place the order ended up being a bit awkward because of the strong accent. The delivery man arrived quickly smelling as though he had just smoked 15 cigarettes on the .6 mile drive to my house. I found this entertaining for some reason. The food was excellent. I ordered green curry chicken and she ordered chicken fried rice. I'd give them 4 stars based on the food alone, as there's some excellent dishes such as papaya salad, soups and Nom Tok Beef. They lose a star due to shady practices involving the bill. More than once we had to get a menu after receiving the bill to find that there were over charges which were corrected without an apology or any show of regret. On the last visit the check came to the table without any breakdown only a total. It seemed high so we asked for a breakout and we were apparently billed for splitting one of the entrees even though we ordered several appetizers between two people before the entree. Ordered the crying tiger for an appetizer. The meat and sauce are excellent, but for how expensive it is you would prefer it to not be 85% bed of lettuce. Also got panang curry, one extra spicy, one regular. We have always gotten this at other Thai places, so we knew what to expect. To call it flavorless would be too much credit. It was like off colored milk with a little chicken and tons of big chunks of green peppers. Did not enjoy food or service!!! I was ignited when I walked on. Finally I was told rudely where to sit. After about three minutes i was offered a menu. I ordered an appetizer and entree. The appetizer was not warm, then the food came out immediately after the appetizer. Both foods were cold. How can soup be cold. I was asked," what else do you want?" I received my check. This place has flavors to Thai for. Those words are seriously the first thing you see when you walk into this little strip mall joint. You know what? Those words don't lie. I went in with a very large group for a birthday dinner and nearly filled the place up. This is a small, cramped restaurant. Don't let that stop you. Your patience to be seated and served will be rewarded with some of the most delicious Thai cuisine. You ever get that feeling that you're going to pass out from eating too much? That's called a food coma and you just might slip into one after downing a meal with the generous servings you're given. I guess the old adage, "Too much of a good thing is never good," doesn't really apply here. One last thing. Definitely try the rice flatbread with the condensed milk sauce.
