This was the first Thai restaurant I ever tried, and I got to experience it with some of my favorite coworkers! Ever since then, I've kept coming back to this spot and exploring more Thai restaurants along the way. I'm so glad I eventually brought my brother and sister-in-law here too, because since then, Thai food has become one of our go-to choices whenever we're deciding where to eat! Definitely the place that started my love for Thai food!

A staple since childhood, this place always stays consistent with its prompt service and delicious food! The BBQ chicken is their staple dish so you'll have to give this a try; the chicken falls off the bone soft with a smokey/grilled flavor that pairs well with a tangy and sweet marinade. It comes with a shrimp fried rice that is a perfect blend of slightly sweet umami and a side of this orange tangy sauce that goes with pretty much everything on the menu! Don't sleep on their other dishes like classic Pad Thai and Crab Rangoons; very solid offerings. Thai Iced tea is a nice sweet touch to wash it down but they offer other deserts as well. The place itself is cozy and has a warm atmosphere, albeit a bit small so it gets REALLY busy so try to come early for lunch if you don't want to wait. Delicious staple in the area so give this place a try!

Decided to eat here on a weekday for dinner. Pretty good amount of parking but can get packed but there's another parking spot just across in the other plaza. We were immediately sat when we arrived around 6pm but most tables were filled. Service was good and the food arrived pretty fast! We ordered the tom yum gai, crab fried rice, pad thai, and calamari. The tom yum gai is perfect for someone with a scratchy throat from allergies because it cleared them up! It had a good amount of sourness to it. Calamari was perfectly crispy and not too chewy. Crab fried rice was abundant so we needed 2 to go boxes. Pad Thai was delicious. Definitely a place where you should share your dishes with friends and family or be prepared to take to go boxes because of the amount that's on the plate. I'd definitely come back!

It has been awhile since I've been here. It is always a pleasure dining here. The staff were great. Ambiance is family oriented with min to mod noise. Service is good. We placed our order of: Angel wings dinner plate, thai bbq chicken dinner plate, and beef satay dinner. The food tastes amazing though the peanut sauce for the satay was very sweet for my taste and seemed diluted instead of the thickness I used to remember. Always loved the pickled cucumber pairing for the satay but then again, it tasted sweet for my taste. The chicken were tender, juicy and cooked just right. Their servings remained the same, which is great. Always a great experience coming here and definitely recommending this place.

Chicken Ruby Dinner - a whole Cornish Hen stuffed with Thai Sausage and deep-fried!

Thai Original BBQ, Cerritos -- I am awash with nostalgia whenever I visit the Artesia/Cerritos area -- home to a vibrant Filipino community, and where I lived on-and-off for nearly a decade. It's here that I welcomed the familiar comfort foods from home, and I'm in one of my favorite restaurants: Thai Original BBQ. Its name says Thai, but over time its food has evolved to skew subtly toward a Filipino palate that balances sweet, sour, salty, umami flavors, with a mild level of spice. I wondered: how far has it veered off Thai Town's flavor baseline? Entering the place is like getting into a time capsule -- its décor is exactly the same as when I first ate here 41 years ago. The long saltwater aquarium is still there, as are the same red vinyl cushioned booths. But the carpeting is noticeably threadbare, and the starched white table linens are long gone, revealing washed-out Formica. Thai Original BBQ is known for its single-plate meals featuring proteins and vegetables over sweetish rice stir-fried in Nam Prik Pao, resulting in its orange color. Tonight's dinner was our time-tested reliables: the Combination Soup, Satay Dinner, and Chicken Ruby Dinner. The combination soup was served in a fire pot. Its comforting stock is translucent, with no visible scum - packed with umami from the fish sauce and heaped with pieces of chicken, pork, shrimp, and vegetables. So comforting, even on a warm night! The satay dinner consists of eight skewers of thinly sliced flank steak, grilled to perfection, with a sweet-spicy and creamy peanut dipping sauce. And the Chicken Ruby dinner was impressive -- a whole Cornish hen, stuffed with a sausage made from a mixture of pork, rice, and glass noodles, then deep-fried whole. This delectable dish will make the "Colonel" tap out. These dishes are how I remember them -- and they bring back so many fond memories of family get-togethers. Eating here turns every meal into a mindful event. My wife and I hardly spoke to each other while eating - it wasn't being rude at all. The silence came from a quiet joy -- from something familiar, from something comforting. Thai Original BBQ did not veer as far from what we've always welcomed as Thai as I had wondered. In many ways, Thai food is similar to Filipino food: a balance of sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy elements. Fish sauce is foundational to both cuisines, providing saltiness and umami, while coconut juice, palm sugar, and tamarind bring sweetness and sourness. Thai Original BBQ is really a taste of home. Five stars -- no asterisk, no hesitation.

We came here for dinner on a weekend and we were lucky to get a parking space in the shared plaza lot. We had to wait about 15 mins to get seated. Staff were nice and prices were fair. The restaurant was clean during our visit. Food was delicious as expected!

01/13/26 Last time I was here was 6 years ago. This restaurant is nostalgic for me. My entire family and I used to come here often when we'd celebrate birthdays or just because my parents were wanting it lol It was always a yes when they'd ask me and my kids if we wanted to go. Their menu looks like it hasn't changed much. As it shouldn't because their staple dishes are so good! No need to reinvent the wheel. My go-to dish is the S-1. Thai bbq chicken with fried rice. So simple yet soooo good. Comes with a sweet and sour sauce. We also ordered combination soup which has sliced chicken, mushrooms and vegetables. So soothing and delicious! I also ordered a Thai iced tea. The crushed ice makes it so much enjoyable to drink! This combo is so good that my daughter got the same exact order. :) The interior of the restaurant has changed slightly and for the better. There used to be high dividers between tables. There are now dividers but low ones which opens up the restaurant so much more. And the fish tank is still up and running! Overall 10/10. I'll be back soon!

Iv been here couple of times even in the past when they used to have green booths way back then, it had darker walls too, and over the years, they have renovated the interior of this place which is more brighter and spacious! I went on Valentine's Day lunch time with my family. Food we ordered spare ribs, fried rice, soup, chicken, noodles, and crispy duck. Everything was delicious but my favorite meal here was the bbq chicken. Iv tried many Thai bbq chicken but this restaurant has to be my absolute favorite. Their bbq chicken is so soft and tender, including the ribs. It was absolutely delicious! Service wise, everyone was friendly, the hostess and our server. They were checked up on and refilled our drinks. I will definitely continue to come back here.

Everything is good here that's why we keep coming back! Food is always good Their calamari is some of the best calamari I have ever had!! Always attentive and food comes out fast & fresh! Every time we have came to eat there has been a wait time, but it is all worth the wait!

Do not eat here unless you want to be sick. The shrimp in all the dishes were not cleaned or deveined. The soup has a sour pungent taste to it. The Pad See Ew was the worst dish of all. It was mushy and tasted old. We tried to tell the waitress that the food wasn't any good and she told me that's just the way they make it. You can see we didn't eat it. When we asked to have it removed from the bill they told us they didn't have the authority to remove anything. We all came home and threw up. Oh, and why are the cooks smoking out front with gloves on? What's the purpose of wearing gloves? You just spread your germs around. No wonder we got sick. Do they wear their gloves to your dirty bathroom too?

    Chang L.

Food: Absolutely delicious. I love this chain. They have amazing BBQ Chicken and BBQ Ribs. You cannot go wrong with either of those dishes. I suggest adding the cucumber salad or a papaya salad to your meal. Service: Sweet and very attentive stafff. We received our food fast and with a smile. My brother and I are regulars here for their food and service. Ambiance is Mom and Pop hole in the wall. They are a hidden gem so dont miss it when you turn in.

Portions here are family sized and on my second visit I learned to order a little less :) Food is solid and for the price it can't be beat! Dinner time can get a little busy so plan ahead. Parking sort of sucks here as well but if you don't mind walking a little longer you'll be OK.

    Tracy L.

There is a reason this place has been a neighborhood staple for decades. In a city where restaurants come and go their consistency is unmatched. I've been coming here for years, and the flavors are exactly as incredible today as they were on day one. Whether it's the depth of the curry or the perfect wok-char on the noodles, the food never lets you down. It's the ultimate comfort spot where you don't even need to look at the menu because everything is a winner. Here's to many more decades!

I'd never been there before, so this review is all about first impressions. As we approached, the sign caught my attention: "Under New Ownership." Outside, an employee sat scrolling on his phone. It was a quiet Sunday around 3 PM, and we were the only patrons in sight. Checking Yelp beforehand had been a bit of a letdown, as their menu featured items they no longer offer. No links were available either. We ordered half a pound of pulled pork, half a pound of brisket, and four pieces of cornbread--all priced reasonably. Their tap selection turned out to be decent. The Cali Squeeze Blood Orange was a standout, and they also seemed to carry Firestone Walker products, including 805. The staff were friendly and responsive, which was refreshing. While the brisket had cooled by the time we got home, it was still tender and flavorful--just like the pulled pork. The real surprise? The chimichurri that accompanied the brisket--an unexpected and delightful touch. Overall, I'd rate the experience as average. While it's clear they've got potential, a bit more effort could turn Wholly Smokes into a go-to spot. Leaning in on those small details would really elevate the experience.

When I saw that the menu was slightly different at each one, I knew I had to come to the Artesia restaurant specifically for the ube bibingka! The Artesia store is in a rather large shopping center that has LOTS of eateries as well as a 99 Ranch Market, so parking during peak hours and weekends can become quite the hunt. The interior decor and set up is very similar in both locations. This one is also very clean and seating is spaced comfortably. Orders are placed at the counter and your food is brought to your table when it's ready. Exclusive to the Artesia location's menu are 3 different kinds of pansit, so of course I had to try the pansit bihon as well as a chicken inasal plate. For dessert I had to try the 2 varieties if bibingka that were not available in Anaheim: ube and Macapuno. My foodie friend ordered the chicken skewers plate and an original bibingka. Everything was SO good!!! My chicken inasal plate came with 2 portions of leg & thigh, java rice, a small sampling of papaya salad, and a cup of egg drop soup. Whatever they marinate the chicken in made the meat SO tender and flavorful. The pansit bihon filled an entire to go container! The glass noodles were light (compared to egg noodles) and the whole dish was seasoned perfectly. Even with sharing the pansit with my friend, I still ended up taking more than half home with me. Same for the bibingkas. I ended up sharing the bibingkas with my son later that evening. The ube one is a must try for ube lovers. The macapuno one had a generous amount of coconut "strings" in it. Both were the perfect combination of creamy, light, yet decadent and very addictive. Service was friendly and efficient. Food is made fresh when ordered and came out fairly quickly. (bibingkas are made in fresh batches throughout the day). It's safe to say that I am now a huge fan of Tony's Barbecue. They also had Mac-salad, Potato salad, also offered cooked fried chicken, baby clams, crawfish, fried wontons, edamame, eomuk (Korean fish cakes), Japchae (Korean Glass Noodle), etc. Plenty of sides also offered self-serve that you can cook on the grill, like onions, broccoli, mushrooms, etc. I was impressed with their choices at this price point! SO, my recommendation is - give this place a chance - sometimes restaurants do have bad days (as do servers and employees) which can get them a bad Yelp review). Today I appreciated that the servers were helpful and attentive. I LOVED the food: We ordered the Beef Brisket, Marinated Beef Bulgogi, Beef Belly, Pork Belly, Marinated Pork Belly - and yes, ALL included at the same price point (we went for the cheapest menu option) at $24.99 per person - so much value for that low price! Now I'm afraid to post this review because want this place for myself to be my own secret (LOL) - I loved the fact it wasn't crowded for such a huge venue - and we got served right away +++++!
