I ordered the paradise noodles with chicken this time and I enjoyed it more than the pad Thai last time! The starter soup and egg roll are very good. Try to get here early as it gets crowded quickly. Complete and Utter FAILURE! I was invited by an old friend to choose a place to eat. I love Thai food, required a place with wheelchair access, and wanted something relatively close to my home. Unfortunately, unforgettably, and quite sadly I found Thai Paradise on Yelp it fit all those criteria. However it missed arguably the most important measurement of a restaurant, the quality of the food. Up until now I had found yelp to be quite accurate in its ratings. Either the regular cooks were not present, they were just having an off day, or somehow a large number of reviewers missed the mark. Because of transportation problems my friend got take-out. He ordered Pad Thai(chicken), Red Curry (Beef), Druken noodles (chicken), and THom Yum. My first impression was olfactory and unpleasant. There was a stale pungent fishy smell which permeated through the paper bags and polystyrene containers. This was particularly odd as we had not ordered any sea food. Which lead me to believe they must have made a mistake in the order even before I unloaded it. However, when I opened the containers I became convinced of it. The Pad Thai was a just a pile of smelly noodles. Initially, I couldn't find the chicken nor any of the other standard ingredients. Until I unpiled the noodles and discovered large peaces of chicken. (They had a horrible flavor). Photo will be included. I was later convinced by my companion that the was indeed ours and that its lack of resemblence to what we previously knew of these dishes was due merely to the equally unauthentic (non-asian) staff working in the kitchen. I then assured him that this does not necessarily mean the food will be bad but a lack of people of the ethic background supposedly represented by the restaurant eating the food is a good indication, if of nothing else, its lack of authenticity. As we started to eat the food I swore to my friend that had we ate in the restaurant it would have been an impossibility for us to eat more than a few bites and that we would have been forced to leave after complaining to the management of the nearly inedible nature of what they were selling as food. I added that had I been pressed I would have preferred to be escorted to the precinct than pay a red cent, or rather allow him to pay, for that meal. I further realized the great blessing it had been for us all that we had not dined-in as I certainly would have made a scene had management been anything but apologetic and completely acquiescent in my refusal to pay. In the end, this was a lesson in doing one's due diligence. I should have looked a bit deeper into the reviews and information about this restaurant. I figure because of its location this venue is probably most often frequented by hungry lunch time clients, and half-drunk people whose taste buds have been sterilized by their alcohol consumption. Or then again maybe its one of those excusable instances which I mentioned at the beginning of this review.....but I DOUBT IT. I walk to this place from the Marriott located on West Maryland in Indianapolis Indiana. I'll be honest I almost turned around after saying how packed it was. Every table was occupied and there had to be about 15 to 20 people waiting to be seated . One of the people waiting said they thought that they were still taking orders in the front for takeout so I decided to give it a try . The lady who was working behind the counter took my order ( Chicken Pad Thai ) and said that the food should be ready in about 15 minutes despite how busy it is it was. She definitely was not lying within 15 my order was ready. It was smelling so good I could not wait to get back to my hotel room. Once in my room I dug in and it was absolutely delicious. I told some co-workers about this place and they loved it also. Great food, great service and reasonable price. Such a lovely place to share lunch with friends. This tiny restaurant is full of great service, friendly staff, and delicious food. There were four of us dining and we ordered a variety of items. I was thrilled to find Drunken Noodles on the menu and I ordered them with extra Thai Basil. One of my guests ordered the hottest level for his dish and it still wasn't hot enough, so the server brought him a little bowl of chilis/peppers. We were all disappointed that they didn't have sticky rice with Mango for dessert. I ordered the Thai Tapioca. If you can look past the green coloring, it is delicious!!! A friend ordered the mango ice cream and no one was impressed with it. Our server was so lovely to allow us lots of time to visit. We never felt rushed or that anyone wanted us to leave. (It might help that it was a quiet afternoon, with few guests). We were happy to have the unrushed time to catch up and we tipped accordingly. I want to start by saying ultimately our entrees were very good. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. Cleanliness was very great..... so likely this store would be a go to place for me. Im vegan, so thai tends to be my go to food when eating out. My Paradise noodle with tofu was delivered cold...the broccoli, tofu and sauce was too cold to eat... when discussed with our server it was taken care of immediately...unfortunately the fix appeared to be reheating the dish. Not a bad solution, but some of the vegetables came back overcooked. Very tasty, but over cook. Additionally, the flat noodles in this dish were mostly missing. Which is odd... Visiting from Chicago n we went twice in 1 weekend because we loved the curry!! Everything else was just ok. "Super hungry party of 8 please!" They were able to take us no problem. Not a huge place. I thought the med was not that spicy so I asked for more hot sauce. But my mother thought it was too spicy. So get it mild n ask for the hot sauce no add more if u like. This restaurant is truly excellent. The atmosphere is intimate, the service is prompt, and the food is REALLY good. You'll have a bit of wait during a major convention, such as Gen Con, but it's worth it. The fact that this place is walking distance from the convention center is both a plus and a minus, I suppose. What else is there to say? For both my visits so far I have ordered the Som Tum. Both times it was excellent; a touch spicier than expected, perhaps, but still yummy enough that I cleaned my plate each time. I love that the Thai iced tea comes with a flower on the straw; that was a nice touch. Our waitress today was very friendly. We arrived around 11 for lunch after reading tips from Yelp about the lunch crowds. We were one of 3 other tables when we arrived and were quickly seated. The lunch options were well priced and came with a good sized entree, soup, and an egg roll. I chose the yellow curry, medium heat. The soup was light and I really enjoyed my curry! I probably would have labeled the "medium heat" Mild, so if you enjoy spicy you may need to ask for more hot oil/peppers to bump up the heat. I went here with a couple if friends on a week night. The location is great - right off the circle in downtown Indy. Because of that though, the space is super small and felt tight. We were seated right away, and were well-served. The place was a little dirty, though (our table was pretty sticky). The food, however, wasn't my favorite Thai (this is coming from someone who recently got Thai three times in one week). The spring rolls were too bready (not much filling). My drunken noodles were average, but definitely not medium...well, one noodle had all the spice, the rest was mild. The same thing happened with my friend's soup. Stopped in on a Friday evening with a group from out of town. The staff were not masked. The cook who delivered my food had green snot running out his nose. We told the cashier who then showed us his vaccine card but did nothing else. Then my friend found a piece of rusty metal, possible part of a bobby pin, in his food. By far, worst experience I've had in a long time. Staff did not offer to provide new food or refund. I don't even recall being offered an apology. Great place for Thai food! I love the soup and egg roll that you get with every meal. The broth is so flavorful and the eggs roll is the perfect size appetizer. I could literally drink it by the gallon and be just fine! I ordered the Hawaiian Fried Rice with a medium heat and it was so good. My coworkers love thai food and we go back and forth between the Bangkok lunch buffet and Thai Paradise for our downtown fix. $8 for soup, spring roll, and an entree is a great deal. I also really think the ingredients look and taste super fresh. The medium spice level is a hot level (compared to Siam square). It gets my nose running in all the right ways. If I had to be picky, the environment is a little stale. It's just kind of like a long hallway with tables and chairs along the sides. The service is sometimes a little frustrating. It seems like there are only two servers for the lunch hour. That usually doesn't concern me. But if you're in a hurry, you best be ordering the check after you order food. Ok, another great Yelp find. We were sitting around deciding which of our usual suspects we would be eating at last night when I decided I wanted Thai food. Being new to downtown, we had not yet found a Thai place to regular, so I took to Yelp and found this little spot on Market across from the Capitol. So glad we opted for this versus burgers or pizza. It was fantastic. We started with a round of beers. $3.99 for imports? Don't mind if I do! I had a Singha (Thai Beer, pretty decent) while the other two had Sapporo (Japanese, safe and reliable). Given that many of the reviews made mention of the pot stickers, I figured we needed to give them a go and see what all the hype was about. I now understand. They were perfectly steamed with a generous portion of filling and lots of flavor. Yum! The plate had 5 on it. For dinner, it was a very very tough decision and took a little time. In the end, I ordered green curry. I also took a walk on the wild side and ordered it Thai hot. The curry was creamy and flavorful with plenty of chicken. The Thai hot did not disappoint and satisfied my craving for a little burn. The portion was perfect and pretty much took care of the rest of the night. Overall, a 5 for flavor and a 5 for portion size. Service was very friendly and prompt. Everyone was knowledgeable about the menu and had good suggestions. Price-wise, it was completely in line with their food quality. We'd have spent the same or more on a lesser quality meal somewhere else. Attentive and not overbearing like some places can be. And the lunch menu options are very reasonably priced, especially for DT. Lunch comes with an egg roll and soup like most specials. This is a regular lunch place for my co-workers and I, as their lunch special provides great bang for your buck - $7.99 for a cup of soup, spring roll and an entree! I don't do great with spicy food, so at first I was a little skeptical. However, the "spicy scale" is a nice way to customize any entree to your personal preference and has never left me in tears! I also never miss a chance to get some Thai tea! This highly creamy tea is served cold and almost tastes like chi tea mixed with a milkshake...but less heavy and more refreshing. It's more like a dessert than a drink though, so I suggest ordering a water too. Because it's downtown (and the indoor seating is rather limited) it helps to go on off hours - closer to 11 am or 1 pm if you have a large group. The soup didn't taste good and was served mildly warm. I hate that! Food was yucky for all people in the party but me. They goofed up real good with the heat level (and remember I frequent Thai and Asian places) and served one of our vegan guy with chicken fried rice. Some snippets from the mess they made with heat level - the first was what was ordered and the second part after equals is what was served. Thai hot = bland Medium = hot Hot = mild I rarely go this negative but the truth is - this is a Really good place to waste time and money. I usually give two tries to any place, but this one absolutely doesn't deserve my money. The consistency of the noodles on the drunken noodles was absolutely awful, Pretty much goop, either soaked too long or over cooked. Wasn't a huge fan of the big pieces of cabbage either. The meat was ok and the spice level was ok, but it was hard to get passed the noodles which are half of the dish. I actually really enjoyed the crab wontons. Fresh green onions are a nice touch and the emphasis is on the filling instead of the fried breading. The salad rolls were ok. The rolls themselves come wth shrimp and chicken and seem pretty fresh. It comes with sweet and sour sauce which is weird, but also with normal peanut sauce. The peanut sauce was a bit coagulated, but the flavor wasn't bad. I popped in for lunch while downtown for a conference and the place was bustling. I was greeted almost immediately with an ice water and a menu. My server came back within minutes to take my order. My food arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. I was dining alone and had a small window of time between meetings, so I appreciated how prompt and attentive the server was. The portion size was appropriate for lunch, and I loved that the lunch specials are served with a cup of soup. All in all, a good experience.
