Recently we have visited Thai Square for lunch and dinner several times. I feel like each visit keeps getting better. Everything from the chicken and ginger soup they serve with lunches to the pad woon sen to the mango and sticky rice, everything is delicious. We have ordered many menu items and have not need disappointed in anything. We came here craving Thai food on a Saturday. We're not local, but as it was nearby to where we were going, we decided to give it a try. We ordered fresh basil rolls, spring rolls, and some pork dumplings. Despite everything coming out at different times, it was all very delicious. Normally I'm not a fan of the peanut sauce that comes with fresh rolls, but this one was one of the few that was actually very good. The dumplings and spring rolls came out piping hot. Everything was perfectly seasoned and hit the spot. I opted for the Tom yum soup with shrimp as I was recovering from a cold. It was just spicy enough that it cleared my sinuses but was still manageable to eat. The vegetables seemed slightly undercooked, but the shrimp was deveined, which I appreciated. This place definitely satisfied my craving. It wasn't perfect, but was good for what we wanted and needed. read more

We've eaten here several times so it's definitely time for a review. First, the ambiance and service here are always top notch. This seems to be one of a few places that has plenty of workers and they do a great job taking care of all the tables. Secondly, the food has always been first class. This evening we started with the crispy rolls which I always love they give you an order of three and they're pretty good size and they come in a dish that's filled with a typical Thai sweet chili sauce. I've also many times had the fresh rolls which I enjoy more they're packed with lettuce and veggies and shrimp and wrapped and rice paper and they come with a delicious peanut sauce. Our dinners this evening were the Kao Soi, Pineapple fried rice w/shrimp and the Pad Kee Mao. I haven't seen the Kao Soi before at other Thai restaurants but it was delicious. It was chicken in a yellow curry and had thick soba style noodles that were egg noodles. The curry reminded me more of an Indian curry than a Thai curry so there may not have been a ton of coconut milk it just had a different flavor to me than a typical yellow curry but very good and really enjoyed the thicker noodles. The pineapple fried rice with shrimp was also awesome The rice was done Thai style which seemed to have either some turmeric or possibly some curry powder mixed in The chunks of pineapple were sweet and flavorful and there were tons of shrimp. And the amount of fried rice that you got is truly remarkable. It was enough food for my wife to make three meals out of and also for me to eat portions of it as well. I had the Pad Kee Mao which I always enjoy it's a wide rice noodle I got it with chicken it comes with carrots and broccoli and flavorful sauce and very easy to eat with chopsticks and again the amount for $16 was more than enough for two meals. We really enjoy this Thai restaurant it is very classy has a nice atmosphere and the food is always fantastic and the service is always first rate. My only request would be that in the future they start to have a small salad with the typical Thai dressing that many other Thai restaurants have but I don't fault them for that they just do a different style but my wife and I always enjoy the salad. read more

INTRO: It is a classy modern looking Thai restaurant in West ridge Shopping center. It's a perfect place for brunch if you are into Thai food. Appetizer: Crispy Rolls ($5): Fresh vegetable rolls in sweet sauce. Good taste, you can get same quality at other restaurant. However, what I loved about it is presentation. Looked at attached pic. Dessert: Mango Rice ($7): A traditional south Asian dish, however the rice was blue in color. The presentation was epic. Even looking at pic, makes you grab a bite. I was told by my yelp friend to check this dish at this restaurant and it didn't disappoint Parking : Since this is located in Westridge shopping center, there is a huge parking lot. I've had better curry and I've had worse. I'd put this one right in the middle. Spicy was not spicy enough for my taste but it was steaming hot and had plenty of fresh veggies and crispy tofu. Thai square is a solid, consistent choice for Thai. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and attentive. Generally the food is good, I have yet to find anything I'd consider great. For example, the fresh rolls with shrimp are indeed fresh, have a generous number of shrimp, and are full of vegetables...but there is no real flavor. The shrimp is clearly there but there is not a strong shrimp flavor. Also, the dipping sauce has a bit of a smoky flavor that seems off to me. Likewise, the chicken larb is well presented and looks appealing but it is overwhelmed by the carrots which make it too sweet for my taste. None of this is to say it was terrible and I know I will be back. I simply feel like they are right on the edge between being good and very good. read more

I ordered the red curry with chicken and without bell peppers. The dish arrived with the addition of broccoli (which I hate and is not listed on the menu for red curry) AND some zucchini (I think, I can't remember). There were a LOT of vegetables in that dish and I had to fish them out. The sauce itself was much more watery than I remember having at a Thai restaurant. Very watery. I'm going to try another Thai restaurant soon to compare. The flavor was decent but I wasn't craving it afterward, and ended up throwing out the leftovers. read more

I ordered takeout from Thai Square. I ordered the Thai shrimp fried rice which was super flavorful with nicely cooked vegetables and a proportionate amount of shrimp. I was impressed and shared the dish with my husband who claimed to leave me half in the container but when I opened it there was only a few bites left! I guess that means he liked it too, huh!? Lol Others in our group got the duck and mentioned it was good but a tad over cooked. And another ordered the fried wontons, which I heard no complaints about. Had to check out this local Thai spot right around the corner of my new neighborhood in the shopping center off Westridge and Battleground (same shopping center as Kohls and next to Sprouts with its own huge parking lot). I ordered takeout which was easy just calling in since they have their menu online and only took 15-20 minutes until pick up. When you walk in, they didn't have an actual host stand for pick up so you have to go thru the restaurant at a back table which is fine and the teenager (assuming family) helping was so friendly and had everything ready for me. Multiple people checked to make sure I was helped as well. Inside decor is absolutely adorable - all looks new, clean and so chic - such a nice welcoming aesthetic with great lighting and plenty of indoor seating. I ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken (because I LOVE wide noodles) and the crispy rolls to try! It was a healthy serving - had over multiple meals with the noodles and crispy rolls however I was a bit disappointed in the food - it was lacking flavor in the noodles as if it didn't absorb the stir-fry sauce well enough but from my picture you can see the sauce was pretty runny/watery. I had to doctor it up quite a bit with TJs Soyaki sauce and sriracha just to enjoy the noodles/chicken (which was also bland). The crispy rolls were cooked well and definitely crispy but again the sauce it came with (a Thai chili sauce) had an extremely odd flavor - almost a strong cleaning/soap flavor so after one dip, I stopped eating it and dipped my rolls in a soy sauce/sriracha/garlic pepper mix I made instead. Even though the food wasn't as great as I had hoped, the customer service, pricing for the portion and welcoming aesthetic of the restaurant itself was above average so I'll definitely go back to try something else like the basil chicken or kung pao just not their pad see ew! read more

Every since our go-to Thai restaurant closed down, my husband and I have been trying to find our new favorite Thai joint. After a few recommended Thai Square, we decided to try it out. I have been to this location in its previous life as an express Japanese place and boy have they transformed this space! The decor is very open, clean, and so pretty. I loved all the white and green. Just felt very inviting when you walk in. For drinks, my husband got a Singha beer and I ordered hot tea. I was a little surprised when it arrived in a basic white coffee mug. I was expecting, and I guess hoping, for the nicer black iron pot type presentation I am used to from most Asian cuisine restaurants. As an appetizer we got the steamed Thai Dumplings (ground chicken, pork and shrimp in wonton wrap). When we opened the Bamboo streamer basket, there was such a great aroma and give beautifully presented dumplings. They had great flavor and we got liked the dipping sauce as well. Would order those again! For my entree, I got the Eggplant (Stir-fried Thai eggplant with onions, carrots, bell peppers, zucchini, and basil leaves) with Tofu. I like tofu but I never cook it at home as I can't get the cooking right. This tofu was delicious! Great texture and it went so well with all the yummy vegetables in a tasty brown sauce of sorts . It also came with a side of rice, but the dish can stand alone. I picked this dish as it was a healthier (and Weight Watchers friendly) options. However, I was very satisfied as it was delicious and very filling. I had plenty of leftovers for the next day. My husband got the Mussaman Curry (curry paste in coconut milk with potatoes, carrots, onions, and roasted peanuts) with pork. This is my husbands go to dish. He liked it, but said it didn't not stand up to the version he loved at our previous spot. All of the entrees are the same price whether you get chicken, pork, tofu, or vegetable. Up-charges are $1 more for beef, $3 more for shrimp, and $6 more for seafood combination. I felt the up charges were a bit high if wanted a seafood option. The service was a bit hit or miss at times. I had to ask multiple times to get a glass of water. And they were very eager to take our order in beginning, but then were kind of gone for a bit after food arrived. The Manager did stop by to check on things at the end of our meal which I appreciated. Regardless, overall I did enjoy Thai square and wound go back to try more dishes.
