2 visits ago at the end of the meal, we were told Yelp wasn't working to redeem our Yelp voucher. We kindly went out of our way to help out by using a different company's voucher that's twice the amount and had a much later expiration date. We had to order an extra dinner entree to go just to help them out. The Yelp vouchers are expiring in 2 days and they will be mostly closed for Thanksgiving. Now all we ask in return is to let us use 2 vouchers, since we couldn't use one 2 visits ago. They refused and turned around to claim they helped us that time... We order from here at least once a month. The food is usually good and consistent. We ordered takeout tonight, our usual. This time the crispy vegetarian rolls tasted somewhat stale, not fresh, and they forgot the rice for the entree! We did call to let them know, but really what are we or they supposed to do? Thai Tanium has amazing vegan and vegetarian options! I highly recommend the Tom Yum soup (ask for it without the fish sauce) is phenomenal and the drunken noodles with tofu. Their veggie spring rolls are amazing as well! Love this place and have been going here since 2009! read more

I was craving more Panang curry, saw that this spot was near my job and hopped into the car! I must say I did not know that it was where it was in the Kentlands. I am so happy that I found it because this may be my lunch Thai spot. They were fast in putting in my order and executing. I was out the door in 10minutes and on my way to demolish this sweet piece of heaven. I had the best shrimp panang curry EVER! It was just the right amount of sauce and spicy. It was a smaller portion than my other go to Thai place near my house but it was yummy nonetheless. I will be a return customer in the near future. Another great Thai place. :) I've always loved Thai Tanium, but I haven't been for quite a while. Finally went back last night and really enjoyed it. I love the atmosphere, it feels like a really nice place without the stuffiness of most really nice places. It's close to home, which is always a positive. :) And the food was delicious. The curry puff appetizer was ok. The pad thai was pretty good (a solid recommendation from me who is *very* picky on my pad thai), and the panang curry for delish!! Of course, that *might* be because it pretty much seemed like a thick peanut sauce, and I LOVE peanut sauce. :) The waitress was a bit AWOL, and when our serving spoon fell on the floor they said they'd bring another and never did, but it all worked out ok. A great place for lunch, with enough space between tables to have a private chat and still hear yourself. Decently sized so feel free to bring a group! I usually get their drunken noodle with beef or pork and it never disappoints. It's very flavorful, just perfectly spicy, and the portion is good. My wife and I came here on a Sunday night. The place was spacious, the booth very comfy. Most tables except 2 or 3 were taken. We ordered 3 appetizers: chicken drumsticks, fried tofu, and fish cakes. The drumsticks taste excellent with a really nice, thin and crisp skin. The fried tofu and fish cakes are fine, but probably average. All three appetizers seem to have the same sweet sauce though. For the main course, we ordered the large deep fried snapper as the restaurant didn't have the smaller one that we wanted ( the difference in price is about 6 dollars, 20 vs 20). The fish tasted fresh, crunchy skin outside and firm flesh inside. For drink, we tried thai beer and a cocktail that came in an 8 ounce glass, the improbably named "shark tooth". Overall, I think we had a B+ to A - Thai dinner. read more

We got 4 take-out entrees. The restaurant gave us the wrong dish for one of them. All of the dishes we got were just OK - they were less flavorful than other Thai restaurants, and the pad thai in particular tasted too sweet and heavy on soy sauce. We ordered three of the dishes medium spicy - one was appropriately spiced but the other two had little to no spice. Portions were also on the small side. Overall, a very underwhelming experience. In the future I'll stick with Sabai Sabai or Thai House. read more

I can honestly say this place was far better than i had anticipated. Even though our food was "To-Go", the red curry seafood mix was absolutely PHENOMENAL. I also got a side seafood soup, that was a mistake in the sense that they were both very spicy seafood dishes. I recommend matching a cooling dish with a spicy palette. Curry here is by far the best curry i've had in Rockville so far. Just wish they would give you more seafood considering the prices here, but what can you really expect? read more

I like this place a lot. I just got Pad Thai with tofu but I thought it was great! My noodles were high quality and cooked perfectly. There was a lot of bean sprouts which were fresh and gave the dish a little crunch and made it healthier. The amount of sauce was perfect and the tofu was cooked really well. The average price for a dinner dish is $10-13, and appetizers and desserts look to be around $4-7. Thai ice tea was $2.95. Be sure to let them know if you can't handle spice or have any allergies. They make everything fresh and accommodate special orders. The service was great and they refilled my water about 8488292 times. Cute bathrooms and overall decor. Went here for my sister's birthday tonight. We ordered the following apps and dishes: spicy fried rice with beef (i was supposed to also get shrimp with it, but the waitress denied that I ordered it), Bangkok seafood entree, the crispy soft crabs, calamari, and some type of shrimp toast appetizer. All I can say is that the seafood was not fresh. The calamari was like eating fried rubber bands. The seafood from the Bangkok seafood entree was old as well as the soft crabs. Thai Tanium was busy on this night. The restaurant is a bit too loud because of the open ceiling so people's voices were echoing throughout the place. The pad Thai is super yummy but the panang curry and crispy duck was not good -- we ordered mild for our kids, but it was so spicy that even my husband and I had a hard time swallowing it. I love this place! I've been here many, many times and have always had excellent service and every dish I've tried has been consistently delicious. The prices are about average for both food and drinks. There is an outdoor seating area for those days when the weather is nice. The indoor decor is nice. They do get full during the Friday/Saturday dinner rush, but I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for a table. Thai Tanium is vegan-friendly; no fish sauce used in the vegetarian dishes although I still always specify no fish sauce out of habit and in the off chance they changed a recipe. I absolutely love the Tom Kha soup here. The flavor is amazing! The dishes marked as very hot/spicy are just that. It is somewhat inconsistent in that on different occasions, the same dish will have slightly different degrees of hotness. But still, when they say spicy, it is spicy. Just the way I like it! The sauces are very flavorful and the vegetables are fresh. Definitely one of my favorite Thai restaurants. read more

Love coming for happy hour, cheap appetizers and drinks. The pad thai is great (i love some pad thai), so is the drunken noodles, and curries. I don't think we have ate anything here that wasn't good. I love that they have a spice tray, I spice up my food to extreme heat, almost so hot that when I order spicy food it never is spicy enough. Some things great, some not so. The Tom Kha soup was phenomenal. Curry dishes very good. Deep fried salmon was reminiscent of high school cafeteria fish sticks. Avoid! Service was adequate...server was distant and seemed irritated when shown the free spring roll certificate when I checked in. Sitting outside was pleasant until the evening rock band started up about 50 feet away. They were very loud and irritatingly mediocre. My boyfriend and I went here on New Year's Eve at 6:30pm without a reservation and they sat us immediately. We ordered two appetizers, two entrees and a beer and the total was $47, which was very reasonable especially since we had leftovers to take home. The service was lovely; the waitstaff is quiet and respectful, they don't try to entertain you like in a lot of American restaurants. I ordered a green curry with duck (I didn't see it on the menu but they were happy to accommodate the request) and it was delicious, not at all fatty. I was hoping to try the mango sticky rice but they were out of the mango. Overall, I would highly recommend Thai Tanium as a reasonably priced, somewhat upscale, place to have a nice dinner. read more

I only give this place one star under duress. The food is palatable however, the service is terrible! I have been to this restaurant two times and both times the servers pretty much ignored me after I ordered. I asked for the spice tray which never arrived!
