Thai Taste Kitchen is an unassuming, hole-in-the-wall type of place located on the lower end of Piedmont Ave. The menu is quite diverse with southeast Asian flavors all around-- Roast Pork over rice, Thai Chicken rice noodle soup, and Pork Belly over rice were among a few that caught my eye. There is patio seating in the back with heat lamps that offers guests a retreat from the busy street front. We were pleased with the service and food during two visits and will likely return in the summer to try more of their seasonal items like sticky Mango rice and papaya salad. read more

The place was small but cute, you can watch the cooks cooking. Staff was very friendly and had our take out order waiting. I ordered the chicken pad Thai which I really liked. The flavor was good and they had tofu, chicken, and lots of crushed peanuts to garnish. I would have liked a lime wedge for some additional freshness but it was still really taste. I asked for the basil chicken to be replaced with beef, It was really flavorful and spicy. They ask if you want a fried egg on top. The spring rolls were nice and crispy with no greasy feeling and came with a dark sweet sauce to dip in. Overall great spot and I can't wait to try some other items out. read more

My husband traveled for a few months in Thailand some years back so when he remarked at how authentic to the food tasted I knew we had a winner. I ordered the Crispy Chicken and Rice. It was tossed with zipper cartwheel sliced carrots and green beans. These aren't your typical "fried chicken" bites but rather more of a lightly battered chicken. Still, very good. If you enjoy food on the spicy end, go with the Basil Chicken. Use the rice to soak up the sauce, it's good. I almost ordered another Thai Iced tea for the road. This is my new favorite Thai food in the East Bay. I'm a huge Thai fried rice fan. Thai spicy hot. They are on point with flavors and spice level. Also the crispy chicken is a rare find..it is perfectly crispy and delicious! If you get it for strictly take out, I recommend taking off the lids on all the dishes immediately. Visited during game day and was able to find a seat at the bar. The service was okay, I had trouble with one bartender. He was more engaged in conversation than making sure we had utensils and everything we needed to eat properly. Overall though the drinks were delicious and the food was as well. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Thai Taste and will definitely be back if I am in the area. I came here with a group of 4 friends after landing at Oakland Airport and although the drive was a bit far, the food was delicious! My friend came a bit early to grab us a table and the waiter was quick to come take our order. Between the 4 of us we got the pad thai with tofu, pad see ew with tofu, pad see ew with chicken medium spice, and yellow curry with chicken! In less than 10 minutes, dishes began coming out. I appreciated to prompt serving but one thing that bothered me was the fact that there was a large amount of time between the time our first dish came and the last. Because of this, some of our food got cold while we waited for the rest of the group to get their entrees! In the future, it would be best if the food was times so that people are able to begin eating around the same time. Our dishes were amazing and the spice on my pad see ew was perfect! It is always hard to gauge thai spice so if you come here and can tolerate light spice I recommend asking for mild to med spice on the noodles! read more

We assumed it would be spicy as well since we both told the waitress we like our foods spicy. It did not come out spicy, but it was very good. Their crispy pork belly was all fat and wasn't crispy at all. It seems as if they fried the pork belly whole and then sliced it after which doesn't render the fat down. Took one bite and didn't touch the rest of the dish. The thai iced tea was also good at least, not super sweet. The prices seemed to be a bit higher than other places for what seemed like a lunch portion. Atmosphere: Nice walking in, you can watch them cooking the food on the side. The inside is pretty simple, the outside seating area looks like it had a good ambience. Your food was a bit bland and not as spicy as other Thai places. We got the crispy pork belly plate, the larb chicken salad, yellow curry with chicken, the avocado roll and the pad Kee mao. All items sans the roll were ordered with the hot spicy level. The level after that was called Thai hot but we thought that might be too hot for us. Wrong. The hot wasn't even that spicy :( the crispy pork belly was drenched in oil and a bit bland. The larb chicken salad barely had any lettuce or spinach in it, making it mostly just ground chicken. The yellow curry was more flavorful than the rest but not spicy at all. The food was done pretty quickly though and packaged very well so that was nice. Just wish everything would've been more flavorful and spicy. read more

I absolutely love this place. I strolled past this gem on my way to "Happy Heart" . I decided to try it out. I am sooo glad that I did. Everything I ordered was Seasoned to perfection huge portion sizes enough to share with 2-3 folks. I definitely couldn't eat it all by myself . What I ordered: Crab fried rice ($16) made it a combo for and additional ($4) 3 piece chicken wings... Garlic noodles with chicken I also mad that a combo ($4) 2 egg rolls 2 Thai teas ( Delicious) Mango sticky rice (I have dreams about this now) I paid about $55 for everything . I can honestly say it was well worth it. The staff were very kind and helpful . Food came out fast and pipping hot! Although I did have a piece of hair in my mango sticky rice I didn't make a huge deal out of it because I know "shi* happens" but I did inform them which resulted towards receiving a new order Togo ... I was a bit disappointed though because they had giving me a smaller portion of the mango sticky rice than what they had given me before. All in all this place is damn good!!! read more

Great location, good service, okay food. I was craving thai food one day and since this was the closest place to me atm, I decided to give it a try. There's a lot of dishes to choose from, and they even have some dishes that you can make vegetarian. I ordered the basil fried rice with tofu and the pad kee mao with vegetables and thought they both tasted decent. Definitely not the best, but it does the trick. A tip: For some dishes, they have different spice levels (mild, medium, hot). Just be warned that their medium is SPICYYY! I recommend ordering mild, unless you enjoy the heat. read more

Definitely the best Thai food in the area! I've been living here for years, and there's nothing else even noteworthy. The food is fantastic, as is the service, and decor. This place looks tiny from the street, but it really opens up the further in you go. It's cozy and lovely. The back patio is great on a nice day. The inside is simple, chic, and clean. The staff are all very warm and welcoming. Smiling when they speak to you, singing along to the classic songs playing in the restaurant, and so forth. The food comes really quick and it's delicious. My husband and I were searching for a comfortable neighborhood restaurant with a low key vibe, great food, and reasonable prices (also vegan options). This place is all those things and more! We've been going for several years now, and the food is consistently delicious. Our regular order is avocado fresh roll, pad kee mao with tofu, basil fried rice with tofu, and mango sticky rice. Whoever buys their produce is amazing - the avocados and mangos are always perfect - and the chef is excellent too. Honestly, they've ruined other Thai places for me. Maybe I ordered the wrong items, maybe I shouldn't have taken it to go, but this was not what i was hoping for. Some advice to the owners, use dark meat in your chicken larb salad and it won't be crumbly and dry, use fresh romaine or mixed greens, iceberg doesn't work. As for the Pork kebabs and the rice, don't put hot food in cling wrap, the pork tasted old like it was microwaved and plastic wrap. I understand that you are new, but I'm hoping you'll see this and make some changes. I'm also hoping that someone else won't be disappointed with spending $40 bucks after a long day, open up their containers and find plastic shrink wrapped around their meal. This review is LONG overdue. I joined tiktok right before the pandemic shut everything down last year and this thai spot was recommended on my FYP. I decided to check it out and was able to enjoy the indoor dining that was available pre-covid. WOW. I'VE TRIED SO MANY DIFFERENT THAI SPOTS AROUND THE BAY AND THIS IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel welcome. The food is so tasty and INCREDIBLY reasonably priced for the location it is in. I usually order the Chicken Pad Se Ew and a Thai Iced Tea (less ice hehe) and this combo hits the spot every time. I'm also really into spice so I get some of their chili powder to add that kick to my plate, and WOWZER, I NEED that silky thai iced tea to bring me back. I would say I've been a regular since I've discovered it and get take out at least once a week since I've discovered it and they continue to provide great service! So great that they include my chili powder in the bag and ready for me without me asking anymore. I ordered through DoorDash. First, the Tom Kha was flavorful and delicious! I liked the balance of coconut milk and lemon grass. I didn't get any proteins in my soup. Could have used slightly more veggies, but excellent flavor! I also ordered beef pad see ew. It was great! Right balance of veggies and protein!
