It's a little bit hidden in the business complex but very worth it to come. They were originally a sandwich shop that instead decided to switch to making Thai food. Gra Prow Kai is among the best I've ever had. Been back 4 times to get it again. Drunken Noodles and Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli was delicious as well. Food is among some of the best Thai Food I've eaten in San Diego and is my new favorite Thai Spot! I am looking forward to eating through the rest of the menu. They also can give you fish sauce w/ Thai chili on the side as a condiment. My one non food complaint is that there can be a long wait. The one person is taking orders, running into the kitchen to grab customer orders and calling out their names, making drinks, answering customer questions, and also making sure the food delivery people get their orders as well. I'm very exited to have found a place that makes khao man gai and makes it right. For the uninitiated, this dish basically amounts to chicken and rice, but it's made in a specific way that's hard to get right. For example, the rice is typically cooked using the fat and broth from the chicken infused with ginger and garlic. The sauce (made from ginger, chile, soybean paste, etc) is specific and essential to this dish and has to be right. It should also be served with fresh cucumber and the broth from cooking the chicken, which they do. The version of this dish here, at Thai Test Kitchen, is by far the best I've found in SD, and perhaps the best I've eaten at a restaurant stateside (other than my mom's of course). We ordered from here through Uber Eats and when I got my meal there was barely any food at all. Usually rice would come in a container separate from the meal but this place put the rice on the larger end of the container leaving only a tiny section for my yellow curry meal. I've never seen a place do this. I got mostly rice with maybe four chunks of potatoes and some onions. I had to eat something more after this meal. The food was good. The service was pleasant and cheerful. My son and I had the Drunken Noodles. The duck was a little dry, but tasty. Saw this new spot near my office and after seeing the menu had to try it. The breakfast Sando was seriously delicious and really well made. Great ingredients and soft creamy egg on a fresh brioche bun. Will 100% be getting this again. On the level of crackheads & eggslut. That's saying something. I also ordered the Tom yum soup spice level 4. Tasty broth with a lot of tanginess. Nice white meat chicken, fresh mushrooms and a few grape tomatoes that were a nice surprise. I always order a Green Curry to test out a Thai place in San Diego. And I was very disappointed in the portion size, it was 3/4 rice, 1/4 the actual plate of curry. Also, I speculated if the actual veggies in the curry were from a Frozen food bag. No taste, not fresh at all. The curry sauce itself- I've had better, but I've also had worse. Not worth the price at all. Not going back. Threw out most of the rice since that was pretty much the dish itself. The food is very tasty. Ingredients always fresh. I wish there is an option to reduce the volume of rice, or if we can substitute with veggies. Too much rice is the only reason that prevented me going there more than once a week. I am trying to not eat Sochi carbs. Like some other people said the meat /veggie portion is small compared to the bed of rice. I think it should have an option to balance out, maybe charge the customer a couple of dollars more for the healthier less card option? Flavor is always great. read more
