obviously. Thai Time should put a warning label on their Thai iced coffee. One sip through each layer and the conversation stopped. We woke up. The taste buds clocked in for work. The brain sent out the announcement: "Cancel all distractions -- apparently dinner has plans for us." Good thing we listened. Thammasorn then proceeded to take us on a full Thai flavor adventure. This wasn't just dinner. This was a carefully organized attack on our ability to say, "No thanks, I'm full." The coconut canopy salad started fresh and bright, the noodles brought the comfort, the pork belly brought the celebration, the sunset curry with tilapia brought the "wait, everyone try this" moment. And the mango sticky rice with ice cream showed up at the end like a victory parade. I always read the bad reviews because I'm fascinated by the rare human ability to find sadness while surrounded by curry, noodles, and people being nice to you. They are to be safely ignored. Our experience? Five stars out of 10. Beautiful flavors, warm service, and that special energy you only get when the people behind a place actually care. Thank you, Thammasorn and Thai Time. Sacramento is lucky to have you.

Thai Basil (Chicken), Salmon Curry, Thai Iced Tea. Asked for Spicy. Lazy Sunday afternoon. First time here. There are few excellent Thai restaurants in Sac. Based on my first meal this is a strong contender for first place. Brown Rice. Their "brown rice" (appeared to have a lot of glutinous black rice mixed in as well) is wonderful. Get at least one serving or you are missing one of the great things about this restaurant. Thai Basil is excellent, "correct" flavor.

I wish this spot all the success and more. From welcome to goodbye, service and experience is wonderful. I was surprised I hadn't left a review yet with the number of times I've gone and brought friends or came solo. This location is great for a quick lunch or dinner and gathering with friends/fam/colleagues. Nice date night option too with the lighting and ambiance. There are TVs if you need that extra stimulation. The food is so deliciously prepared. I've had many dishes, most recently, the chicken satay, dong dong noodles, and tofu spring rolls. Everything is so fresh too! Spice levels are true to definition. The owner runs a great friendly-like-family operation. Not pictured but I highly recommend the angel wings and Penang curry (any protein). Yuuuummm!!! Add some noodles and the spring rolls and you have a well rounded meal there! Cheers!

I never even knew about this place, my co-worker took myself and a friend and he loved it also! The chicken Thai basil came out hot and fresh, veggies were crunchy and delicious, chicken was tender, flavor was slightly sweet and savory. But my favorite - the mango sticky rice with that deliciously sweet coconut ice cream. Blew me away! Loved the sticky rice texture, the sweet fresh mango. It was all just delicious! Our waitress was a treat, such a sweetheart. Quick fast service, which I loved!

This restaurant was recommended by my friend and it was exactly what I needed but didn't know. Is located on 10th street so street parking however, it was worth it. The food was excellent and the ambiance was classic asian style. The waitress was attentive we didn't have a reservation and was seated immediately. Absolute yum! Recommended by a coworker, I promptly brought my mom in for a nice workday lunch when I was stationed Downtown. We were greeted, seated, and given water right away. Place was packed with (I'm assuming) state workers. Nice interior and clean bathrooms. Mom and I both ordered the yellow curry (our fave); she opted for the standard mild with white rice, I bumped it up a bit to medium with brown rice. Food was quick (without being suspiciously fast) and really tasty. Medium had a nice kick and the brown rice was in a perfect little cone. Overall, great work-lunch spot and can't wait to bring my husband in for a meal! Ps. The Thai iced tea was also bomb!

I had a lovely lunch with my partners close to 2pm. There were only a few people in the restaurant so it wasn't busy. We had a wonderful service with attentive staff. Everything seemed so clean and there were a lot of options on the menu. I wanted to try everything! We decided to get garlic fries, crispy tamarind tofu and potstickers as starters. For the main course, I decided to go for the Pad Thai Supreme. The other main dishes were the drunken chow mein and a pumpkin curry. The flavors went really went together. Everything was so delicious and super tasty!! It made me want to go back and try other items in their menu.

Solid fare Tucked away in downtown Sacramento is this tasty spot for Thai food. We were able to get seated without a reservation, but this place filled up quickly during dinner time. I tried their pad see ew which came out hot and well flavored. Nothing mind blowing, but nonetheless delicious. They also have excellent curries, especially the avocado yellow curry. The service was a bit slow and they were eager to rush us out the door, but I guess there were hungry customers waiting.

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing ambiance!! On our visit we ordered : - Spicy Bamboo - Tamarind Shrimp - Tom Kha soup - Green Thai Tea The spicy bamboo dish was my favoriteee. If you love spicy food, make this your next dish. The portion for this was pretty big and I ended up taking basically half the plate home and made it my dinner. The tamarind shrimp was very surprising! I loved the flavoring and how crispy it came out. The shrimps were huge!! The owner and waitress were super sweet and attentive. I loved the inside of those place. It's spacious, with a clean modern design and I love that they have plants in this place. It adds to the feng shui.

On this visit, I dined in. I love the fried Thai Roti with the curry dipping sauce. Unfortunately, I am quite disappointed with the ginger fried chicken. The chicken is very dry and not tender like it was from my previous visit. I was hoping the batter would still be crispy instead of soggy as I am dinning in. I am disappointed that the batter is mostly soggy. I decided to try the Rad na with tofu. It was just okay. I prefer my noodles dry so I will stick with drunken noodles. No complaints on the crab fried rice. Service was excellent.

Ordered the panang curry, mild spice, and it was really good! The restaurant itself is very pretty and has a nice calm vibe. There was plenty of street parking when we went on a Saturday afternoon. Their noodle dishes were also pretty good so it seems like you can't really go wrong with whatever you order. Servers were really nice and food came out fairly fast.

Just had dinner at Thai Time and our server Au was amazing! We had our 1 year old with us and she was so helpful bringing paper plates, plastic ware, kid cup and straw and even a toy without us having to ask for anything! She made it easy for us. The food was delicious. We had the Panang curry with chicken spicy, basil fried rice with chicken spicy, spicy basil stir fry and chicken satay for our baby. Everything was SO good! This new Thai restaurant has everything I've been looking for in a Thai place in Sac: legit good Thai food + ambiance. The pad Thai noodles still had a bit of chew, which is important. The chicken satay had a great Smokey flavor from the grill and peanut sauce that was really smooth, but not too sweet. The green curry was also fantastic, especially with fried tofu, which I think was house fried and very yummy. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend for anyone looking for good thai with a modern and cool atmosphere. read more

We ordered the Se Ew and wow was it delicious. Anyone who loves Thai should go here. I have been to many Thai places in Sacramento but nothing compares to this location. I would say that you get what you paid for and the service is always personal. They have a variety of beers at a reasonable price which I choose to pair with anything they put on a plate, I always go for an IPA. Sharing is caring so make sure to try the each-others because its just that GOOD! read more

If I lived closer to this restaurant I'd be there several nights a week. The drunken chow mein was fantastic. I'd drive an hour to go back to try more of the dishes, it was that good. Wow. I wish I lived in town. Maybe it's good for my wallet and waistline I don't because I would eat here daily if I lived here. The owner came up to us and was so genuine and friendly during the meal (which was absolutely delicious to say the least) and I really enjoyed it. Food came out fast, fresh, and super tasty. Cute area of town and a beautiful fresh space. I was surprised they were so new because they operated like a well honed crew. Thai Time is one of my go to spots for Thai food in this part of town. The flavors are bold and very creative. If you did not know, there is a secret menu they have up their sleeves, you just have to ask. I always ask for their pork belly with fried chicken wings and rice with a sunny side egg! OMG this dish is any food lovers dream. It has a hint of spice, sweetness, herbiness, that will fill up your stomach and leave you satisfied. Second to that I highly recommend the prik keng pork belly with green beans with rice. The crispy pork belly reminds me of lechon and the sauce they have lathered over it have me dreaming about eating it everyday. Truly an epic dish to remember and a must stop to try experience. So if you're ever looking for some amazing Thai food in this part of town there is no place other than Thai Time! read more

Thai Time is pretty fantastic, I don't think I've had a single bad meal here. The only thing I'm sad about with this place are the hours, I'm usually not off of work in time to enjoy it! I went to thai time yesterday with a friend for dinner and it was amazing! The food and customer service was top notch! We ordered the cream cheese wontons, crab fried rice, angel wings & the shrimp yellow curry with rice. Everything came out hot and fresh and yummy! I recently visited this fantastic gem and had an amazing experience. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the fried rice, Thai spicy which he loved. Our first time here and blown away! Best Thai food I've had in a long time. We live 30 minutes away but need to make this a regular place the service was so fast, not a lot of people know about this place yet so it's a great spot to try out with some friends. If you're looking for real authentic Thai food this is the place. Everything we ordered was chock full of flavor spices and fresh ingredients. We got the Cashew entree with tofu, Ginger stir fry with chicken, Kai Soi with chicken, Mango Tango, Tom Kha soup with tofu, and the Tofu with Tamarind sauce - this ones wasn't bad by any means (love the use of tamarind in anything) but would definitely venture and try another appetizer next time. Fare warning I have found that the more authentic a Thai place the spicier the food and this place is no exception I was told afterward that the chefs actually don't eat spicy food so they truly eyeball the chili pepper amounts as they go so I would recommend going down one level than your usually spice level just to be on the safe side. I ordered mild but it was still at the top of my spice tolerance so I know next time to just say no spice - the food was still delish so I just kept chugging my Thai Coffee. Service was impeccable start to finish with the young woman attending us being super kind and attentive and making us feel like we were regulars rather than it being our first (but most certainly not our last) time there. Yes it's pricey but it's in downtown and there's spots with way less quality food for the same price and it's expensive to dine out right now period so it's really a matter of picking a place that's actually worth it when you want to spend your hard earned money outside. The place was big spacious and really relaxed plus the restrooms were superé clean which is a huge green flag in my personal experience. Thai Time is doing it right! Food and service is always exceptional here. I always come by for yellow curry with pork, the angel wings, and curry fries. Anytime I swing by the service is always accommodating, staff greet and seat me very quickly. Their beer/cider selection is perfect with picks from nitty's cider to Alvarado street's hazy ipa. We had lunch at Thai Time today based on the other glowing Yelp reviews. The food/service was excellent! We ordered traditional Thai dishes assuming that if these were executed well the rest of the menu would be fine. The Fresh Shrimp Rolls, Green Papaya Salad, Pad Thai with chicken, and Red Curry with pork were delicious and went well with the Henhouse IPA on draft. I originally opened the restaurant because I am someone who really enjoys food. As a Thai person, I was never satisfied with the taste of other places, so I decided to solve my own problem by opening my own restaurant. I wanted a place that provided food flavors I love and share them with others in hopes that they enjoy it too.

I was hesitant to bring it up to the waitress after two bites but so glad I did because I would have hated myself if I left without saying anything. The waitress was kind and offered to remake the dish. Instead, I opted for something else because I was afraid to be disappointed again. I ordered their tofu drunken noodles since I've gotten it here before and remember it being tasty. I confirmed that the drunken noodle was going to be a dry noodle dish and thankfully it was. It was good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had their gai yang which is a marinated grilled chicken dish. He said it was pretty dry without the sauce on the side but the sweet chili sauce provided was pretty tasty. It's probably not worth $26 given the how dry the chicken was and he said he would never order it again. Overall, the customer service was great and portions were good. I had to deduct 3 stars from my previous review as the food quality has significantly gone down in my experience and doesn't justify the high menu prices in my opinion.

Your new favorite Thai spot in downtown Sacramento! I've had the pleasure of knowing the owner for years now and I'm leading with that because the first thought I had when I found out this was her restaurant was "Oh geez please let it be good". I'm not one to lie about a restaurant and pretend it's the best thing ever when it really isn't just cause I have some kind of connection to the staff. Great news. It's the best thing ever. My friends and I were deciding on a lunch spot and Thai Time was suggested. We've always wanted to try this place, but never had a chance to stop in. We get there and lo and behold the owner is an old friend! She's the most kind hearted and gracious person and I'm so happy to find out this beautiful spot is her own. Ambiance - First thing's first. The space is such a vibe. I don't really care if places are cute or instagrammable, but this place is both. First thing I said was "I'd definitely make this a date night spot". Service - I'm biased and I'll admit it, but 10/10 regardless. Even just hearing the way the other tables were taken care of was perfect. Food - As someone with a decent knowledge of Thai food, even though I'm no expert, I'd like to think I know what's good and I know what's just the usual "attempt" at Thai food. And with a sigh of relief I can say THE FOOD IS GOOD. We had a bigger bunch than expected so we were able to try a good mix of the menu. Fried Calamari - Batter was excellent and light. Curry Puffs - Filling was some of the best I've had for a Thai curry puff. Tom Kha - Can't go wrong, but this one was so right. Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) - My personal entree. Had that char from the pan/wok that most restaurants miss. Perfect. I think my friend got the Panang Curry? He loved it as well. Again, I'm quite picky when it comes to Thai food especially and this is going to be my official spot in Sacramento. And what's even more of a sign is that I've heard from several friends, all who told me before I knew this place had a personal connection, that they tried this place and they all LOVED it. If that's not a sign that this place rocks I don't know what is. Cheers to the owner who rightfully deserves the praise. And cheers to Thai Time for becoming my #1 Thai place here in Sac. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the tone for an exceptional meal. We started with the Angel Wings, a delicious appetizer of crispy chicken wings stuffed with ground chicken and noodles, drizzled with a heavenly honey plum sauce. Next up was the Tom Kha soup with shrimp. The coconut-based broth was a blend of sweet and savory flavors, making each spoonful a comforting delight. For the main dishes, we shared the Pad Thai Supreme with chicken, Panang Curry, and the eggplant dish, which we paired with crispy pork belly and brown rice. Each dish was a flavor explosion, distinct yet harmonious. The Pad Thai was l balanced with tangy tamarind, while the Panang Curry was rich and creamy with just the right amount of spice. The crispy pork belly in the eggplant dish added an incredible texture and flavor. To top it all off, the owner came out to greet us and ensure we were enjoying our meal. Her warmth and passion were evident, and hearing the story of how her then 14-year-old son designed their charming elephant logo added a personal touch to the experience. I've been coming to Thai Time since they first opened, and it's honestly been so cool to watch it grow and change over time. You can tell they really care every little detail feels more intentional each time I come in. The vibe is what keeps me coming back. It's so cozy and warm, especially at night. The lighting is soft and glowy, not too bright, not too dark, just perfect. It makes you feel relaxed right away, like you're at home but with really good food. It's the kind of place where you want to sit, talk, and just enjoy your evening. Tonight I tried some of the newer dishes: Coconut Canopy Salad, Coconut Breeze Curry, and the Soft Shell Crab Curry. Both coconut dishes were sooo good. I've never had a coconut salad at any Thai restaurant before, and it was such a fun surprise. Thai Time really knows how to use coconut and blend it into different dishes in a creative way without it being too heavy or overpowering. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. I'm in town for a work trip and stumbled upon this Thai place after checking out their website--which looked amazing. I'm happy to say it totally lived up to the hype! The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the server was incredibly sweet and attentive. She made sure my order was taken care of right away, and the food came out super fast. I wasn't sure what to expect since Thai food can vary a lot from place to place, but I was so happy and honestly amazed by how delicious everything was. We recently tried Thai Time, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The food was just okay, but the portions were shockingly small for the price. We ordered the Drunken Noodles, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Tofu Lettuce Wraps, and our total came out to almost $70--way too pricey for what we got. On top of that, the service was terrible--probably one of the worst we've experienced in a while. Slow, inattentive, and not very welcoming. To make matters worse, they charge extra for silly things like a spice rack or a tiny side of sweet-and-sour sauce ($2!). Overall, we're glad we ventured out and tried a new place, but we definitely won't be returning. There are plenty of other Thai spots that offer better food, better service, and better value. read more
