This would ordinarily get 4 stars but in Covid times, it gets 5-stars. Why? I have tried almost every Thai restaurant within a 3 mile radius. This is the one place that still serves up fresh, really tasty, consistent food and the noodles still have vegetables in it.The quality is better than most in the area, if not the entire area. We order the pad see ew, drunken noodles, panang curry, won ton soup and mango and sticky rice. Most Thai places give you an abundance of the greasy, oily noodle with little bits of cheap protein. Here, the portions are smaller, however it's not oily, has more veggies in it and the chicken and beef quality is definitely better. Given the crappy quality of neighboring Thai places I am A-OK sacrificing quantity for quality. The panang curry is always a favorite and had a nice little kick. Tonight we ordered the mango and sticky rice and was pleasantly surprised that we received a freshly cut whole mango with the sticky rice. It was honestly wonderful. I know restaurants are struggling but the prices here are still reasonable and I feel like I get a decent meal when I have a hankering for Thai food. Food portions is really small , it's kids size basically . Taste is good , thought the place was overpriced considering it's in Santa Ana where the rents are lower. Anyway, bill came and I noticed the bill said $10.95 each ( ordered green and yellow with chicken ) but the menu said $9.95. I asked the waitress (also daughter) why it's more than the menu states . I probably get Thai food once a week. My significant other and I have tried Thai restaurants from all over. The one nearest to us has been a huge disappointment since they changed owners. Because Thai Way is nearby where he works, he decided to give this place a chance. We got ordered the following and its description: Shrimp rolls- Shrimp wrapped and deep fried in wonton wrapping paper served with sweet sauce and fish sauce. Really good and a good option for an appetizer. Crab fried rice- The portion was huge! For two i don't think we even ate half. It was served with an Asian flavored egg omelette on topped. It was flavorful and went well with the other food we got. Chicken- It was pieces of chicken chopped up in the box. It was a little dry. They give you a lot of chicken with sweet and sour sauce. It was probably my least favorite because it was dry and not flavored as well. Shrimp Pad Thai- Really flavorful and my most favorite. It came with plenty of shrimp and the portion was also large. I recommend this. The restaurant is more of a to-go place. It is small with four-five tables. The lady working was really nice. The wait was 15 minutes for all that food and the total was $30. I thought it was completely worth it considering how everything, except the chicken, was really good and how large the potions were. We will be ordering from here more often. read more

Due to the new ownership, possibly twice between the last few times I've been back. The most recent one had my parents and I question our patronism with them. It's not just that but the quality in food went down as well. The proteins were dry and the pad see ew noodles looked different with tiny holes in them. I was going to order through Eat24 and chose Pad See Ew with Pork, Combination Fried Rice with Pork, and Spaghetti Thai Basil; however, decided to call in just in case the place was closed and also didn't have cash on me. The lady didn't seem to understand Spaghetti Thai Basil from their menu, so I just dismissed it and asked for the first two entrées. She then asked when I want to pick it up and for my phone number. She didn't tell me how much until I got there. Upon arrival, the entire plaza was under construction and repainted, but they were still open for business. I came in and was rang up as $20+change. I was like uh... what, okay, can I use the yelp check in for 10% off, which knocked it down to $18 something. I was going to tip, but I felt cheated because had I ordered through the app, it would've been $17.17. I was a bit irate from this and just came home from a long work-day, so didnt want to argue. I brought the food home and my parents were eager to devour it, only to complain the entire time of how dry the pork and chicken were and lack of flavor. I tried this place a few years ago, but I can't remember what the food was like so I decided to revisit them today. I ordered tofu Pad See Ew, medium spicy. Let me tell you, the flavor blew me away. It is SO HARD to find a good Pad See Ew place. My usual favorite is a Thai restaurant in Cambodia town, Long Beach but that is a heck of a drive from Santa Ana just for noodles. Thai Way is now my GO-TO Pad See Ew spot! The flavor is incredibly deep, the tofu is in perfect ratio to noodles and veggies. Not too much of any. There were a few little bits of fermented beans or something kinda salty, very tasty! The only downside is that the portion is smaller than I would like, about the half the size of a standard styrofoam togo box. But the price fairly reflects that at about $8 for an order which is roughly $2 less than the average Thai noodle dish in OC. I look forward to visiting this restaurant again! read more

But with the recent quarantine, I seem to have a lot more free time to catch up on reviews, ahaha...PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MOM AND POP SHOPS. I've been here about 4 times with 4 different people in the span of a couple months, cause I loved it so much. I've tried about 5 other Thai food places around here and nothing has compared to Sab E Lee or Amarin in San Diego for me. However, this place is just as comparable for such a great price point. I've tried their drunken noodle, chicken panang, basil fried rice, satay chicken, mango sticky rice with ice cream, pad see ew, pad thai, tom yum, yellow curry, fish cake, papaya salad, etc...You get the point. There hasn't been a single time where I was left disappointed. Well, there was one time I had come in pretty late, right before they were closing..maybe about 10 mins. This is an excellent Thai spot! Came here from Irvine & I loved that it was easy to find with its bright neon lights :) the owner/manager (not sure exactly who he was) was very accommodating, service oriented, & helpful. The food came out very quickly - and the best part was that it was so fresh!!!! I loved that it was very easy to choose what you wanted inside (tofu, veggies, meat) and the menu was easy to understand. I tried the drunken noodles aka pad kee mao which I get everywhere, and Thai way did an amazing job at making the dish. Very flavorful and a great portion size too! My family also tried the pineapple fried rice, which was also delicious, & the yellow curry. Beyond delicious! We have been looking for authentic Thai food for years and we have finally found our favorite! We had the shrimp pad thai and beef pad thai. The glass noodles were perfect texture and not sticky, the sauce was just the right amount of sweet and spicy, the meats were both cooked to perfection. The food was good in a reliable "I'm in the mood for Thai food" sort of way. Nothing with my order was missing or incorrect. They're very good at following instructions/customizations. The food is good and cooked perfectly. I had the yellow curry with tofu and an order of spicy basil fried rice with beef delivered to me through Uber eats. The curry was good, creamy, and as you'd expect. They had the tofu cubes pan fried slightly so that it had a toasty texture to the outside. It was nice and filling but had no spice really. Just standard. The spicy basil fried rice was not spicy,though I could see the red peppers. Maybe I was just unlucky. The rice itself was perfectly cooked and fragrant and the beef was also cooked well. It also came with two thick cucumber slices which is a random but nice touch. Overall it's not the absolute best Thai food I've had but it does satisfy the random craving or two and it's not a horrible place to grab something to eat. I liked it. Absolutely amazing hole in the wall thai place! It's across the Walmart on harbor street and right by McDonald's. LOCATION: It is really small, with maybe 5 tables in total. There are the usual Thai decorations, an altar, and lots of pictures that show food choices. The waitress was a young, cute lady with short hair. I believe there's 1-2 cooks only that I've seen from the few times I've been there. They are going to move soon, so I will update with their new address next time I see them! FOOD: The food is phenomenal. 5/5! The food comes out pretty quickly as well. We waited about 10-15 minutes. The boat noodles ($8-$9) are a bit spicy if you're not used to it, but it's so fragrant and full of flavor. It was easily the star of the show both times that I've been there. I personally love pad see ew ($8-$15 depending on meat choice) though, so I always order it. The pad see ew came out smelling delicious, slightly charred (a good thing for pan fried noodles!), and egg-y. I have tried the seafood pad see ew and the chicken pad see ew. The seafood pad see ew has SO much seafood. There's fish, shrimp, and huge mussels. The lard na ($8-$9) portion is HUGE. I can't emphasize it enough. My brother's eyes bulged out his head when he saw it. I was pretty jealous. The noodle was a good consistency, not too chewy or mushy, and warmed up your whole body. The gravy is yummy, thick, and very filling. The drunken noodles ($7-$8$ needed a bit more flavor according to my uncle. Thankfully, there is lots of small jars of seasoning and spicy sauces to add, as well as fish sauce. I have to mention though, every time I have been there, I haven't been able to get Angel Wings because they are often out of ingredients. It happened once for boat noodles. So be warned that sometimes they may not have all the items on the menu available. It's understandable because they are such a small restaurant, but it does make me a bit sad that I haven't been able to try their Angel Wings. I love that they speak Thai. There is not a very large Thai community in Santa Ana so it's always nice to connect with other Thai people. My grandmother can only speak Thai so she enjoyed being able to talk to people besides family for once. They also give these delicious candies at the end of every meal. They're guava flavored. Guava ("falang" in Thai) is very popular in Thailand and it is definitely not a common American taste of candy, but try it! It gets better the more you eat it. This is a smaller restaurant that felt like more of a to go location. Even if they had tables to sit inside and eat, it looked like there would only be room for a few. We tried to order on their website, but it kept saying to pay cash so we called instead. You could use a credit card at the restaurant so I feel like if I selected cash on the website, I probably could have still paid with my card when I got there. The first thing I noticed about their menu is the very reasonable prices, with most things being under $10. The portion size wasn't as big as other places, but big enough for the price. Each dish lasted about 1.5 meals. PANANG CURRY: the usual creamy curry flavor. No complaints. HARBOR NOODLE: tasted like pad see ew. I liked it. With medium spice, I would say it was on the upper end of medium. So go mild if spice isn't your thing. PAD THAI: it was really good but also really sweet for some reason. This review is long overdue. I was looking at my pics on my phone and came across foodie pics from Thai Wave Restaurant. It's a small place but the decor is very cute. We were welcomed by the lady owner and ordered the following: (1) Pad Kra Prow Fast and simple, the best well-known Thai dish, spicy chili basil sauce sti-fried w/ basil, bell pepper and onion. This is my Thai dish I usually order and it was fresh, seasoned perfectly and delish. My lunch also came with a fresh salad. (2) Yellow Curry Thai yellow curry with potatoes, carrots and chicken. My girlfriend said the curry was really tasty. (3) Pad Thai Thai rice noodles stir-fried with egg, bean sprouts, scallions and ground peanuts. My girlfriend and I shared the Pad Thai which was so yummy. The dish had a lot of the sauce which I absolutely love. Definitely recommend their pad thai! A lot of smaller places I've been to around the area tend to make this dish taste like ketchup, but this place definitely knows how to make it well. Also gives a generous portion for the price. Not the most quiet place to dine in for dinner - restaurant walls are thin and there is a Mexican restaurant that blasts music loud enough for you to hear. I'd suggest getting food here to go, unless you're okay with the noise. Their pad see ew was burnt - not the best but still good. I think I'm in love! I wanted to try out a new Thai place, and after seeing the reviews figured Thai Way was worth a shot- it was. I ordered the spicy spaghetti basil because there's nothing I love more than a little fusion and wasn't disappointed. It was hot enough that I was grateful I ordered the Thai tea (which was delicious), but not hot for the sake of being hot. The chicken in the dish was great quality, and that was without having to pay extra for 'white meat chicken.' It was my first time coming over to this restaurant. At first I was very hesitant because I rarely like spicy food, but this was the exception. My father and I got the Drunken Noodles, and the pad thai with grilled steak. The food was amazing and extraordinary. Compared to other Thai restaurants, this restaurant had me in awe. The texture of the food as well as the flavor was off the charts. Although we did spend quite a long time inside the restaurant, the waiter was very accommodating and professional. Don't let the location and run down exterior fool you, sometimes the best places to eat are the little hole in the walls. Thai Way offers a full menu of delicious Thai cuisine and there's pictures of the different dishes in the menu to help you decide. I wouldn't hesitate ordering anything from the menu though, everything is delicious! They are very accommodating and can modify the dishes as you request. Here's what was ordered: Pad Kra Prow - This is a very traditional Thai dish. I ordered it with beef and requested green beans to be added. Very nice bold flavors from the basil and bell peppers... highly recommended. Papaya Salad - I requested the fermented crab be added and they obliged! The portion was huge and was also good, though a bit sweeter then what I prefer. I asked for spicy but it wasn't very spicy at all. Panang Curry with chicken - Panang curry is a slightly sweetened curry, this was another excellent choice. Chicken was very fresh. Highly recommend. Angle Wings - This comes two to an order and are fried panko coated chicken wings stuffed with ground pork and comes with the sweet dipping sauce. This was okay, the ground pork was a bit bland. All in all I like Thai Way and would definitely eat here again. They also offer pickup and delivery so this is a great alternative to cooking when you're feeling lazy.
