    Kao Soi Curry
    Phoebe L.

The ambiance was really nice! Also, the servers were helpful and friendly. The kao soi was yummy, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. However, the tamarind fish really stood out! The sauce was so good, but I wish it were larger for the price (especially considering rice was separate). The drinks were good too!!

I grabbed dinner here with a friend as we were starving and wanted thai food. We ordered pad thai with tofu and pinnacle rice with tofu. The pad thai could've used a bit more sauce and I wish it had more of the acidity. The pineapple fried rice was expected. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They were great with filling up our waters.

    Tom Yum seafood combination soup

This is a comfortably upscale restaurant in downtown P.A., however I think the ambiance at Thaiphoon supercedes the stuff that emerges from the kitchen. Tom Yum seafood combination seafood dinner was a hot and tangy broth. Garnished with fresh lime juice, it also contains lemongrass, mushrooms, and roasted peppers. Pot of soup can feed three or four people and was plenty for our small group. The shrimp were fine, but the large mussels and chunks of squid were not tender -- maybe amateurishly executed and just over cooked. That made the soup, as a whole, not successful or tasty. If all the seafood could have been cooked, seasoned and prepped so that they came out better, the Tom yum would have been enjoyable. Pot stickers are comprised of five pieces with pork, ginger, leek, and seasoning; they are served with soy based dipping sauce. Menu didn't indicate these are deep fried so that the wrappers are all puffy and al dente. Definitely not your Chinese style pot stickers, but I have no idea if it's typical Thai recipe or just the restaurant's own. I would have requested friends chosen something else, had I known how they're cooked.. but even for what they turned out to be, they could have been tastier. Presentation of all the dishes is lovely. No issues at all with service, as the waiter was nice friendly and accommodating. So maybe we didn't try the best things off their menu, but Thaiphoon fell short for me, on the food.

The Wife and I were checking out menus in PA for an impromptu dinner date. We leaned into the porch at Thaiphoon, and then asked for a table even without seeing the menu, because they were playing actual Thai pop music, which The Wife loves. They call themselves pan-Asian, but I thought it was 90% Thai. For example, they had a lamb saag and a couple Chinese dishes. We ordered some standard fare: tofu and veggie spring rolls, pad see ew, and a specialty seafood Thai basil. I asked for no calamari, so it had plenty of shrimp, scallops and even mussels, which were not noted on the menu. All of the dishes were very well done. There was a single green chili of some kind in my dish, with all the seeds still attached. Presumably it was there for adding heat, but I stupidly ate it, and regretted it. I also had a gewurztraminer, which was fairly sweet, but paired very well. Dessert was roti with a sweet glaze. Small, but really yummy (and inexpensive). The Wife had fun chatting with the host about Thai music and TV. It was a fine evening.

Had tickets to a show in Palo Alto so Made dinner reservations here for two at 6 PM. There is street parking and an adjacent parking lot. I got lucky with a nearby spot with I think 3 hours Free parking. The restaurant had ample greenery, and a warm vibe. Service was attentive and helpful, She let me know if she could make almost anything vegetarian if prompted. I started with Lychee ice tea, which was slightly sweet, and very refreshing, with caffeine. For an appetizer we ordered the Golden eggplant which was crispy and tasty. For my entree I ordered the pumpkin red curry with tofu and a side of steamed rice. I loved the velvety curry, and it had plentiful vegetables and pumpkin. My cousin enjoyed her chicken pad see ewe. I would come back-- Especially given the vegetarian possibilities!!

Solid spot for Thai food, great location on University Ave and very comfortable clean ambiance. Lots of seating both indoor and outdoor and really attentive service. Got seated as a party of 7 immediately for a Tuesday dinner. Decent portion sizes, got the pad see ew chicken and it was very filling. I got spice level 4/5 which I would probably say is a typical medium spice level.

I love Thai food. The food and service here is good. It's not a large place or super busy but comfortable. Fish cakes were okay but not a hit with the family. They do not cut well with forks. The yellow curry had good flavor and a rich sauce. The pad see ew noodles were soft. The Pad Thai had good flavor and texture. Roti & curry sauce is always a favorite for us. Fried bananas with honey were good and we could taste the coconut in the ice cream. We would eat here again if we were in the neighborhood.

We've since been back at least five times. Service is always impeccable, like seriously- no notes perfect service. I love the vibe, not fussy, but details matter- Heath Ceramics, Le Creuset pots for cioppino, heavy silverware, substantial napkins- everything feels easy but the details let you know they pay attention. We always start with the Vesper martini, their entire cocktail and wine service is impressive, but the Vesper hits. Homemade sourdough starts every meal, supposedly the starter has been the same for years, I mean this is the Bay Area, we know sourdough, and no complaints. Oysters of course, very fresh, great selection, not just the basic kumotos you find at most places, really unique finds. As far as the food, we've never had anything we didn't like, typically we lean towards seafood and salads, but we've also had the burger and the BLT. One other note, my step-daughter just got off the plane from NYC and the first place she wanted to go was Clark's for a cup of their clam chowder- it's that good. The shellfish here is also damn good. That clam linguine is a guilty pleasure. It's got just the right amount of cream in it leaving the sauce light and nuanced with harmonious flavors. The mussels and clams go perfect with the grilled sourdough for dipping in the broth. Ask for the spicy oil. Omg I want to put it in everything! I never order crab cakes. Because they're usually breaded up with the actual crab meat taking a back seat but not at Clark's! It's all tasty crab meat with almost no casing if any. I only order crab cakes here. If you crave dessert, this is the place also. I'm not a huge dessert person, but I enjoy their sweet treats. Sometimes they have special desserts also like that berry cheesecake. There is a great selection of wines here, and Wine Wednesday bottles are half off. I took my mommy here for Mother's Day. She loved it. The staff explained there was a mixup and due to that all the orders continued getting mixed up during our meal, but there was no acknowledgment otherwise or an attempt to make things right. I think because the group tip is already mandatory, there was no incentive on their end, perhaps. The bus staff are pretty available and responsive but limited in what they were allowed to assist with and the server was hard to flag down. Anyway onto the food. The clams linguine was flavorful. The crab Alfredo pasta had a lot of crab which was a pleasant surprise but a little lacking in flavor and a little on the sweet side with cream and crab notes. Cioppino was better than expected.
