I was craving Thai food and decided to get this place because how cool is that name while my party went to the restaurant across and I'm so glad I did. I was disappointed with our takeout order from ThaiTanic. The Tom Kha Gai was much too sweet, had an excessive amount of onions, and the chicken tasted old or reheated rather than fresh and tender. I could barely eat it. The portion was also large and expensive, so we spent about $41 for two people for 2 dishes and did not feel the quality matched the price. We ordered for takeout, and service was friendly, with about a 15-minute wait for our food to be ready. We got an order of shrimp rolls, roti with a side of curry, pineapple fried rice with beef and added prawns, and grilled thai steak. It's a bit hidden off Sausalito's main thoroughfare. It is small with not so appealing decor. Prices are decent. They have an unusual pumpkin curry that one of us tried and liked. The pad kee-mao included cabbage, which I have never experienced before. I would recommend they chop it to smaller pieces if they plan to keep using cabbage. Flavor was ok. We love Thai food and found this restaurant nestled in the second story of an outdoor plaza. The inside is small and people are coming and going for to-go orders. You walk up some steps on the street corner, and then boom, you have a bunch of shops and this place on the left hand side after walking up the steps. They have indoor & outdoor seating here. Place is cozy inside, not that big, maybe 6-7 tables. Outside probably another 5-6 tables. Service is team service, they work together and are hard workers. Food was good, we had a variety of items. Thai iced tea was excellent. Chicken satay came with like a homemade peanut butter sauce that was really good. We also got fried chicken wings. They were really good as well. Ever hear of bait and switch? If you go to their website, you'll see magnificent food. Gorgeous street food and amazing bowls. It looks fantastic! so we made a reservation. And showed up on time. Nobody was there. Yet when you show up at the restaurant, they hand you a stack of soiled black-and-white printed menus. When I asked about the restaurant food that is depicted on their website, the response is "oh that's from a long time ago". So your shrug and say oh well maybe it's good. It's not. The Pad Thai had something resembling chicken. Gross, stringy. Plus tough pieces of tofu. yuck. Slimy noodles. The sauce was inedible. It's a great little location with apparently multiple owners over the years. There's no excuse for this bait and switch in this restaurant or any restaurant! Definitely will not go back. Beware. We came here in our San Francisco trip after Christmas day. It was a very cold day, and we were the first customers dining in at 12:00 pm. The restaurant was extremely cold. They didn't turn on a heater. The owner and the waitress were bundle-up with many layers and gloves. I was too frozen that I had to order a cup of jasmine tea so I could hold it to warm up myself, although I already had a thick coat over 3 layers of clothes! Both of my kids were shaking because it was too cold, even colder than outside because of no sunshine. Later on it became a little bit warmer because other customers came in filling the space. Food was very good, flavorful, and tasty. Service is good too. The waitress was very nice and appropriate. I wanted to rate this restaurant 5 stars but I couldn't because I had never had lunch in a frozen place like this. read more
