Went in for a bite off-peak and was greeted with a sneer and poor customer service. We have eaten here before and I don't know what has happened in the last year, but the floors are grimy, a fly issue is apparent, and the smell alone was enough for us to back out of the 40 minute wait. read more

We stopped in here for a bite to eat after a nice morning hike. We started our meal with the appetizer special of the day, fried zucchini. I ordered the smothered chicken sandwich with tots and my husband got the Pine BLT with fries. The Smothered Chicken sand which was delicious! It had chunks of artichoke on it from the spinach artichoke dip that made it the perfect savory lunch item. Our waitress was super nice, but that was the extent of the experience. We ordered pretzels w beer cheese for appetizer and I got the brisket with one side. My wife ordered the wings with sauce on the side. The waitress said the brisket was really good so I took her word for it since she said they were known for it. Well....it took 30 minutes for the pretzel bites in which she kept checking on us wondering why we hadn't gotten them yet. The place was not busy mind you, so we were confused what was taking so long. Once we got them she apologized and said they were on the house. We appreciated that. My wife got her wings, and the sauce was not on the side so she had to wait longer for her order. My brisket was awful. Probably one of the worst briskets I've ever had. Surprisingly good food and drinks for a small town! I was further surprised by option of gluten free bread, as well as the sheer size of the place. They are well equipped to handle the summer crowds. Service was good. My cocktail was refreshing and not too sweet. There were a number of flies on the patio, but not a huge deal. It was fun to play horseshoes after dinner. A great place to visit after the crazy road-rally that is 87 North to Payson. Bex, our server, was very kind and accommodating, and the Strawberry Blonde Shandy and the Brisket Sandwich were the perfect late-lunch combo. We popped in to this fabulous local AZ brewery + pub outside of Pine for some food and beer before heading to our camp site on the rim. Judging by the reviews on Yelp, I wasn't super sure what to expect (it totally deserves more than 3.5 stars!!) but ended up being SO pleasantly surprised! My husband ordered their beer flight which consisted of 6 beer samples (about a pint and a half of beer total) for $7 and you get to pick which 6 you want to try! SO COOL! He loved every single one of them. I had the Strawberry Blonde and i'm now HOOKED! It was so refreshing and had the perfect hint of strawberry, not overpowering. I can't wait to find it in Phoenix. I hear they sell some of their beers in the Valley. As for the food, that too was delicious! We started with their fried pickle spears and they were so yummy! Perfectly crispy and the ranch was AMAZING. For lunch, I ordered their buffalo chicken sandwich and it was a dream as well. I love that they use Pepper Jack cheese and the chicken was grilled to perfection (not fried). I ordered tots on the side because duh. (NO PHOTOS OF THIS BECAUSE I DOVE RIGHT IN! Whoops.) We were too full for dessert but the waitress talked us into their chocolate mousse made in house with one of their stout beers. I. Am. Obsessed. GET IT, you will have no regrets. The service was so friendly, FAST, and their patio was dog friendly so our sweet sheepie enjoyed the beautiful weather with us. We will definitely be back on our next camping adventure near the rim! This has to be one of the best places I've ever eaten at! Starting from the service everyone was so nice and the food was amazing everything was so fresh. My girlfriend and I got the spinach artichoke dip which was the best I've ever had. My gf got the kombucha and I got Mexican lager and they both were so smooth and delicious. Wonderful place! We came randomly since we were in the area just driving by. We came on an open mic night, and were greeted by so many friendly locals, and we all felt like we were part of the town! The food was great! And the service was wonderful as well, despite the busy night. We felt like we were in one of those tiny small towns in a Hallmark movie, where everyone's so warm & welcoming. Okay, I will start this off by saying that Tabitha took care of us during our visit and she could not have been more wonderful and accommodating. She totally saved this review score. However, we do still have our feelings about the way things are being ran over there. For starters, they refused to put two tables together for our party. Not really a big deal, we made it work. But secondly, we then noticed that they provided us with a "Large Party" menu that was extremely limited and did not showcase many of the items we researched and ultimately came to THAT for -- with no exceptions. Super bummed about that. The wings (and the beer) however were delicious. We will be back, with a smaller crowd so we can experience THAT in its entirety. But take this as a heads up if you are visiting with a party of 12 or more so there's no surprises. read more

Stopped by this place with a group of six. We were impressed with the service as it was prompt friendly and engaging. The food was excellent as well. Brisket sandwich was delicious and was well cooked. Wings were a good size and yummy. Being at a brewery we if course had to sample the beer. A decent variety of beers on tap and in bottle. We visited friends in Strawberry about a month ago and they took us to THAT Brewery for dinner on Friday, 10/27/23. The food is truly delicious at THAT Brewery & Pub. We were so impressed, we decided to take home some of their Elk/Beef chile. I ordered TWO bowls of the chile and when the girl, Courtney, brought out the order, it looked like a "cup" of chile. So I said, Oh, I ordered two "bowls" not cups. She said "Yep, this is what we have." Then I asked again, "This is TWO BOWLS of chile, that is what you are saying?" I Thought she heard me wrong, but she again told me that is what it is. So, I thought well maybe there is more than it looks like, so I left a bit frustrated. When we got back to our friends home, I put BOTH orders into a measuring cup and it was just under 8 OUNCES!! I was SO angry and could not believe I paid $17 for that, when it was supposed to be TWO BOWLS!! I was curious how many ounces were actually supposed to be in their "Elk & Beef Chile bowl," so I called the restaurant and I was told "the cup is 8 oz and the bowl is twice that, 16 oz." The photos show the amount that was in the "coffee cups" she put the chile in, when I took off the tin foil of what Courtney gave me. Definitely NOT 32 oz of the chile, which is what the amount should have been for TWO "bowls" of the Elk & Beef Chile. Like I said, the food is REALLY good, but just watch out if you get an order of the chile to go. Especially from Courtney. She didn't seem in the best of moods anyway and treated me like, well, I was just in the way and didn't really matter, because I mentioned to her we were taking the chile back to Phoenix. Oh well, perhaps she was having a bad day. Not that it is OK to take it out on the customers, but I will give her that. read more

We had been here about 5-6 years ago, and said we'd never go back. However, everyone deserves a second chance, so we went around 2:30 on a Monday afternoon. We had a great experience with Kelsey at the bar. She was friendly, smiled and provided great overall service. Food was excellent, especially loved the French fries made from real potatoes. Had an opportunity to interact with Tamara and she was as pleasant and friendly as could be! Behind the bar there was one guy with a long pony tail that seemed more interested in getting the regulars to purchase scratcher/football items and even went to so far as to interrupt Kelsey while she was talking with us to try and get her to buy the last spot. Never gave us the time of day or acknowledged that we were there. Although it was somewhat rude of him to do so, it won't stop us from coming back - thanks to Kelsey's outstanding service!! read more

Great food off the beaten path. There's indoor seating as well as outdoor seating complete with heaters and a fire pit. The menu all looked great and we had a hard time deciding what to eat. The nachos were awesome - had their elk chili on it :). Was a great app for 4 people. I got the smoked brat & loved it. Was impressed with the smoke ring when I took a bite. Only bummer was that if you choose carrots/celery as your side, they charge $0.45 for the ranch. And our waitress didn't seem happy to be taking care of us - couldn't split our checks up, but definitely made us feel like it was more because she didn't want to instead of that she really couldn't. Let's try the outdoor seating as it was a cool breeze night. Ordered the Pilsner and it was a very good choice. Artichoke appetizer for the table was a good first choice. Came in for lunch during our trip and quickly got seated in the bar though we were told several times that they were short-staffed. We were patient though and ordered beers, water, and our food. The menu looked simple but when the food came out, to my surprise it was fantastic. I got the smoked bbq chicken salad and coleslaw and they were out of this world good. My friend didn't really care for the sandwich he got but said it wasn't terrible. When it comes to the beer, they weren't anything special but when compared to the water that was served, the beer tasted like the nectar of the gods. The water was so bad, we both had a sip and couldn't drink anymore. It actually had me, not a huge beer drinker, longing to take another sip of my brew. I'm not sure what was wrong with it but something has to be done. Overall a good experience was had. We live in the PHX area and come up to stay in Payson as often as we can. And we ALWAYS make time to drive the 15 min to visit That Brewery. We have been dozens of times and it's always great! The main reason is because they are soooo accommodating to our dogs. We have 2 50 lb Pit Bulls and no one ever gives us any issue when we bring them here. In fact, staff and customers alike want to give them so much attention. Today, I called ahead cuz I assumed the regular patio would be closed for the season, but we were able to bring them on the smoking patio. Thanks for the love! We are able to enjoy an amazing meal (the chili is the best EVER!!) and have a delicious beer, and relax in a nature filled location. Our dogs get food and attention, we have an incrediblly beautiful backdrop, and we always leave satisfied and excited for the next time we can come back!! read more

This is our first time here. The staff is extremely friendly which is THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect for me, personally. We sat at the bar and ordered a Backwoods Blonde which was delicious. The bartender was a little busy and asked another staff member to help us out...and she did...and she turned out to be the owner of THAT Brewery (Tamara). While she was helping us, the hostess asked her for assistance as well and she gladly pivoted to help out. We chatted about the area and about the food menu. What a great experience.
