My good friend treated me to a birthday dinner here. We were a group of four & chose to dine in the garden room/sun room, which seemed quieter than the bar area. We made reservations, which I recommend as it was a Friday night & packed as expected. No complaints about the service, food was served in a timely fashion. Good food presentation among everyone's dishes. The blackened steak salad was a good size in a large shallow bowl. The steak was flavorsome, & tender, not dry. The greens & vegetables were fresh/not wilted. Among our group, the calamari was ordered which had numerous tentacles which I believe the others (at our our table) prefer. The portions seemed decent (not too sparse & yet not excessive). Two clam linguines were ordered & a pan seared tuna. Per their review of the clam linguine, the clams & sauce were delicious, however the sauce is a creamy Alfredo sauce, not a white or red clam sauce. The linguine was a bit more al dente than they hoped. The pan seared & its entire accompaniments were devoured, clearly no complaints or regrets. My friend had the chocolate budino, which looked fantastic in a fairly large ramekin. She enjoyed it, however it was quite rich therefore she wasn't able to finish. The owner stopped by our table & chatted with us briefly to check on us en route to adjust the heater/AC unit & took the time to answer why the name of the restaurant is called 1762, as the city of Hummelstown was founded in that year. Overall, it was a pleasant, fuss free dinner. If you're not from PA, like us, you can easily miss the signage on the blackboard outside. Found easy parking behind the building. Park in the lot and save yourself some aggravation trying to park on the street. Spaces on the street are hard to find. Walked into the restaurant and was greeted by Peter. Very friendly and he gave that extra special treatment that instilled confidence that you were going to have a great dining experience. This is a farm to table dining establishment and it showed in the food. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. My wife had the Ceasar grilled chicken salad. I had the tomahawk porkchop with Brussels and broccoli. Everything was delicious. The service was also great. I'm not talking your regular service, I'm talking memorable personal service. Our waiter was funny and very warm. The cocktails were also fabulous. I had the best gin and tonic ever. It was smoother than silk. This place was the best way to end our night after a day flying here from Texas. Last thing....they played great music! We will come here again before flying back home. read more

This place has a nice ambiance as it is set in an old hotel in which part of it has been converted into a restaurant and bar. The staff was friendly and the owner very hospitable! He came by during dinner to check on us and explain the history of the restaurant/hotel. It is located in the heart of Hummelstown, a very old and historic Main Street American town! My friend and I ordered the clam linguine. It was good, the clams were cooked perfectly, however, the pasta was a little more crunchier than Al dente. The sauce was good! Our other two dinner companions really liked what they had ordered (Steak salad and the pan-seared tuna! The dessert was a Budino, which is a rich chocolatey pudding! We wanted to love this place so much we even discussed coming back for my husbands upcoming 40th bday, but then we had our dishes which ended up being sub par because of the rice 3 different ways. My friend ordered chicken cordon blue, and requested to swap out the wild rice and was told no. Odd. The wild rice comes out crunchy and tastes like a salt shaker. We told our server who offers - wait for it - MORE RICE. Yet again, crunchy. It's not cooked!!! Our server offered nada to rectify this. Nada. She made a smirk face each time like we were being difficult. We asked for nothing special, just a solution to this gross rice. This was one of the finest meals I've had in a long time. This restaurant has incredible service and more than incredible food. We had a wonderful time. The four of us was four different entrées and with all these different drinks that they make so well. We had appetizers and we had a great time. My husband and I really enjoyed dinner here tonight. I had the crabcake and as my sides I chose the maple carrots and the brussels sprouts. All were delicious. Incredible flavors! In fact, my husband hates brussels sprouts, but he decided to try a bite of them and he said, I love these brussels sprouts. It was so hilarious. I wish I would have been recording the conversation. He had a nice Wagyu burger with fries and both were delicious. We also had buffalo wings since it was wings night and they were delicious .The owner stopped by and talked to us and he was very, very nice. I wish my daughter would've been here with this to enjoy all the gluten-free choices they had. I really enjoyed my cocktails. I highly recommend the pineapple express and the peach mule. What a local gem among many tourist ridden boulders! We relocated to the Dauphin Co. area from Upper Bucks Co. We have been blessed with the opportunities to visit restaurants all over the US and Europe. It was our second visit. Dave and Kylie have discerned a local chill demographic that refuses to alienate patrons. How? By Dave and Kylie's focus on the virtue of well prepared food and atmosphere. Regarding our first visit, we sat at the bar and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent eye contact and friendly vibes with everyone sitting around us too. The quality and preparation of the food transcended 'bar food'. It makes you feel that you'd be coming back! Our second visit last night was even better. The wonderful young lady who hosted us at the door was actually happy and patient as we decided where to sit. Carlin's Thai Steak Salad was fresh and the meat was quality. He prepared the Crab Cakes perfectly, which is harder than you think. The NY Strip?!! ... It took me back! Carlin cooked and delivered a medium rare to perfection, sliced over garlic mashed potato. I mean, it could have passed for Keens, Sparks, or Lugers! I think it would be worth the investment to hire an IT person to delete the antiquated links to the past 'Old Warwick' or 'Warwick Hotel'. The discontinued links such as at Opentable.com, TripAdvisor.com, and the outdated FB page can be deleted. The TripAdvisor link for instance, actually forwards you to what looks to be a CCP slots gaming website. The out dated menus on these old links do not represent who you are today. Otherwise it can be unfortunately confusing to potential prospective customers looking for the great product you offer. Lastly, the fact that you have rear parking is huge, making the visit easy, convenient, close, and strategic. You ought to optimize your marketing with this advantage included. What an incredible place to eat and enjoy with family! We hadn't been here since it changed ownership. You can tell that the owners truly love what they are doing and appreciate their customers. We were greeted by David (one of the owners) and felt right at home. You can tell he really cares about the business and what it means to the community! The food was absolutely fantastic! My wife and I both had the filet mignon and crab cakes. They were cooked exactly as we ordered them (medium and medium well). They were so tender and flavorful. The fingerling potatoes, mashed potatoes, maple glazed carrots and shaved brussel sprouts were the perfect accompaniment. I had a Guinness which I thought was a great addition to the filet. And the New York Cheesecake with raspberry drizzle was almost too much. It was rich, cold and very dense. Exactly the way a cheesecake should be. We can't wait to return! My husband and I had the most wonderful meal at The 1762 tonight. My meal consisted of one of the daily specials: perfectly-cooked scallops with a tasty fig glaze served over a bed of shredded Brussels Sprouts. I ordered the cole slaw and creamy parmesan orzo for my sides--both were delicious! I ate very slowly, so I could savor everything. To finish, we shared a slice of very moist carrot cake--Yum! We have been to the 1762 before, and each time, the food has been outstanding and the service has been impeccable. Awesome! We were nearby and just Yelped a place to eat and found this gem. The owner, Dave, was there to great us at the door. He was very nice and welcoming, and the staff reflected his same attitude. Courteous, caring, competent, and quick service. The menu had unique offerings and everything we had (Calamari Thai appetizer; steak tenderloin salad vinaigrette; steak bison burger with parmigiana fries) was 5 stars. Even the ice tea was outstanding. They also had an an extensive mixed drink and beer menu. I failed to scope out the wine list, but by seeing how everything else was I'd assume it to be more than adequate. We will be back with a bigger appetite next time to try some of the larger entrees. Worth the hour drive for a special occasion kind of meal. We did not have a reservation and they fit the two of us right in, but I could see where a reservation might be a good idea. read more

We really wanted to like this place. It's a cool place and is very close to our house. But the food is just awful. We had the Thai beef skewers for an appetizer and they were all burnt. They had decent flavor but they all had dark black char marks that made the whole thing taste burnt. My wife ordered the duck breast medium rare and it came out totally well done - ruined. It came with carrots that apparently they just pulled out of the ground and didn't bother cooking. They were raw. I had the NY strip and it had the same gross grill marks and was under seasoned. It came with a sauce but they put such a small amount in the middle of the steak that it might as well not have been on at all. It came with a bacon and vegetable succotash that was basically over-cooked bacon with peppers and onions. And for some reason they put that on top of the potatoes and under the steak. So the mashed potatoes (which were good) were just mixed in with peppers and onions which is weird. Again, we really wanted to like this place. But the food was bad AND overpriced. I've seen a few similar comments so I won't hold out hope that owner will fix it, but if he does I'll be back. read more

Probably the best restaurant I've had in this area. Made reservations for the outdoor patio which they kindly held as my party and I were very late (luckily it was only a Wednesday). They have a happy hour deal and great, strong drinks. Food was great as well. The fried calamari was thai inspired and the sweet tangy flavors and vegetables complimented the dish well. My wagyu burger was so juicy (ofc since Wagyu is like 50/50 fat beef lol). This place is definitely on the higher end of the price range (almost DC dinner prices) but the food lives up to it. First of all the town itself and this location are wonderful. The staff were excellent. Very attentive and even the owner came out and greeted us. Very nice people. The food was pretty good. I had a burger which I ordered med but came out well still ok. I wasn't a fan of the truffle fries they were too greasy even for me but my wife liked them. I'm assuming a lot of people find themselves in the position of being in the area to bring family to Hershey Park, looking for a "grownup" night out at a place that doesn't have any cartoon characters on the walls or chocolate in places it doesn't belong. If that's you, this is a nice spot. It's on a charming little street and, even though it's a touch hard to find, cozy inside. The night we stopped in, trivia was just wrapping up and the staff and patrons were incredibly friendly. Entrees were inventive but not totally out of left field. There are options for pescatarians and meat eaters alike, and a large beer selection. Our server even brought some small samples of interesting things during the meal. My wife is a huge theme park person, so we'll likely be back when we return to Hershey and need a reprieve. read more
