Happy hour drinks look awesome and the dessert menu has a small but great variety of tastes. I had the crispy chicken sandwich, the chicken was very clean and not too greasy. Came here for lunch recently and enjoyed myself! I got the tacos with spicy beef tenderloin, while my wife got the gyro pita. My tacos were definitely tasty, although I kind of wish that each taco had two tortillas instead of just one. There was too much stuff in each tortilla so it was a bit leaky and difficulty to eat. My wife liked her gyro pita so no complaints there. It was pretty spacious inside and there was a decent amount of parking outside, so I was pretty happy about that too. Awesome service, great food, surprisingly low prices - I love this place! I had bookmarked the '401 on my Yelp account as a "must visit" while in Houston for a few days. When I found the time to ditch work for an hour during lunch on a Wednesday, I decided to take advantage of the freedom and go out for a nice lunch. It seemed like the rest of Houston made the same decision; the restaurant was almost completely full, which is not common for lunchtime. There was even a birthday party going on in one corner. I ordered a few things from the Snacks section of the menu. The portions were all very generous. The crispy cajun chickpeas (only $4!!!) were particularly good, but the fire roasted brussel sprouts ($7) were also great. The fire roasted brussel sprouts, as well as the parmesan cauliflower, both came in cast iron skillets which kept them nice and hot. Good lord! We only stumbled onto this place because there was an estate sale in the area. But, dayum...this place is beyond. We ordered WAAAYYY too much and ate nearly everything and are taking the few bites we couldn't manage to eat home. Crab cakes Benedict...goat cheese appetizer...sausage wrap...fresh squeezed OJ. My family and I had to try this place this evening. I had heard so many great things about it on the internet and on Yelp, so we had to try it for ourselves. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy and we were quickly seated. Our server, Ali, arrived promptly and took our drink and appetizer order. For our appetizer, we ordered the Parmesan Roasted Cauliflower, which was divine! The only thing that would've made it better would be roasted garlic served with it! It was sort of on the small side, but delicious anyhow. I've been doing Keto for some time now, so I only pick "approved" items to order. I ordered the Cauliflower Grits and Shrimp, my husband chose the gyro, and our kiddo picked the chicken tenders. We were all satisfied with the taste of everything; even my super picky daughter ate the kids chicken tenders! The only thing I would suggest is that it would be nice if they listed the nutritional facts for all items as everything is not created equal (such as cauliflower pizza crusts, for example). Our server, Ali, was very helpful in assisting my husband with which beer to drink. My husband wasn't sure which one he would like as they had many different draft beers, so Ali let him try a couple before he chose the one he liked best. If Ali didn't know the answer to a question, he was quick to find someone who did. All of our food came out at a reasonable time, too. They also have a children's area here, which keeps bored kiddos entertained! Per my daughter, they have several iPads in the room to play with. It sat on the line for a while or was never hot. If you want slow service and warm...ish food this is your place. The vegetarian food opinions are great (why we chose it), but most else leaves a lot to desire. After spending over $100 for 2 people, I think I could expect a hot meal. The food however was a bit bland, besides the wings. The wings were definitely a 4/5. The squash was great with the salmon but everything else lacked seasoning.the chicken poblano sauce could have used some salt. The food came out pretty quick but the only thing that came out hot was the wings. I would not recommend the raspberry lemonade it was a little sour. This spot overall was nice. The interior of the restaurant was nice and exterior looked solid, though we only stopped by briefly as we were picking up our food. There was also a lot of parking which was convenient. We were really excited to try out this place after hearing about it from friends and seeing the Yelp reviews. The food I would say was decent. The meatballs were good and the Brussels sprouts were just okay. The salmon was really good and with the sides there was enough for leftovers. The sandwich unfortunately had mushrooms, which we had asked to be removed, and they completely forgot the fries which were supposed to come with the sandwich. Per the other reviews maybe we caught them on an off night as it did seem a bit busy and the reviews are mainly positive, but I was overall disappointed in our experience here as I had set my expectations fairly high. We ordered the brussel sprouts as an appetizer and they were sweet and savory. Definitely recommend. I had the wedge salad with bacon and it was fresh crisp and delicious. I was expecting a little more heat from the jalapeño dressing so if you're afraid of it being too spicy, don't be, and give it a try. Far my entree I ordered the seafood etouffee. This trendy, hip, yet family friendly restaurant has taken over by storm. Since opening, the '401 has been wall to wall packed during dinner. I should know, I came here and HAD to come back again in the same week. Again, every table was taken. What you need to know: Inside and large patio seating, eye appealing bar area with tv's, kids playroom with iPads (don't worry children less peeps - the kids fade out around 800-830), valet parking on weekends (which I think it kinda stupid) however there are areas of the parking lot that you may find a spot during peek hours and free street parking, an abundance of servers and waitstaff. If you look in the kitchen it almost looks as if there is a server for every table, so many fresh flowers not only at the tables but as you walk in, open til 10pm and 11pm on weekends, hodge podge of deliciousness on the menu. The first time I dined here I had the Cobb salad. The chicken that comes with the salad as so tasty! The second time I ordered the brussels spouts salad. Okay, so there are like 3 or so flavors that come with this Salad that all mesh so well together. I could eat this salad everyday...and how knows, maybe I will! I have also tried the bayou beignets for an appetizer and oh my lawd so good! My friend ordered the meatloaf and it was delicious too! Okay, so is there one bad thing on the menu? I am thinking NO! I literally work across the street from here. I expect that I'll be a regular customer. Upon entering you notice how gigantic the interior actually is. It's nicely decorated in a modern industrial/shabby chic feel. There's a huge bar area to your right and lots of other seating directly in front of you and to your left. When you walk in though - it's almost as if there are two host stands and I wasn't quite sure which one I was supposed to approach. I got seated and was waited on by Amir. Super helpful and friendly. He suggested the peach tea - which was delicious, but not as sweet as I expected. Easily remedied. The menu is very large, with a wide variety of options, including a lot of mediterranean influenced fare. I settled on the 'Bistro Chipotle Cheese' burger. The description doesn't really say where the 'chipotle' comes in - but I'm guessing it was the sauce on the bottom bun? Whatever. It was tasty AF. The hand cut fries were perfectly fried, and really - when I go back, I could just eat the fries all day. Looking at the menu - it's pricey for lunch. With a tip and everything, I spent $22 ($14 burger, $2.45 tea, tip). I can't do that every day just for lunch. Even the 'small plates' are all $11 plus - with the lone exception of the $8 hummus. I wish they had a lunch menu or lunch specials that weren't as much. I guess I'll go back for lunch tomorrow and try something else. read more

While shopping in the area, we arrived during brunch hours but didn't necessarily want to indulge in brunch food. We sat at the bar and the bartender allowed us to order a few items from from the regular menu, this was definitely helpful in making our experience better than expected. Unfortunately I wasn't able to remember the bartenders name, but his personality was memorable. He paid close attention to the detail he put into every beverage he prepared. Watching him make a mojito with the strawberry flowers was to say the least, amazing! Honestly, the food wasn't that great, but there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with it. This place was great! We found out t has been open so far about 2 months. Potentially moving to the area we wanted to try out a local place to eat and we ended up returning the next day for brunch. Our server, Gerald, who we had both times was great! We even had a chance to speak with one of the co-owners, Holly, who was very friendly and was very present in the restaurant checking on meals and how people were enjoying their drinks. The curbside service has declined significantly in the past 6 months. Call in and quote 15-20 mins and it's common for 45 mins wait. When arriving and calling the number it often goes to voicemail. WTH? It's not that hard and the competition doesn't struggle like this. read more

The food was great. The service is HORRIBLE. We had a reservation for 6 people at 6PM. Upon checking in at 6PM, we were told that our table was getting cleaned off and should be seated in a few minutes - terrific! Sadly, I had to bug the waitress 3 separate times between 6PM and 6:45PM (when we were finally seated) and she said each time that they were still bussing our table. Additionally, we had to wait an additional 15 minutes after being seated to even get a waiter (who stated that he was not our assigned waiter) to wait our table. Finally, we got our food around 7:30PM - an hour and a half after our stated reservation! Good thing the food was pretty good, or this would be a 1-star review, but I guess this is the "new normal" after the pandemic - low staffing and long wait times. The kids had a riot in the kids room right next to our table where a very kind employee was there chatting and checking in the kids while they read books and played on iPads, provided by the restaurant!
