Slow for a Saturday at 630pm. Reservations weren't needed even for party of 8. Mixed reviews about food. From ok to good. Service was good. Door was opened for us when we arrived. This restaurant is a great breakfasts, brunch and lunch spot. Furthermore, the food is great and it hit the SPOT (my stomach). I had the shrimp and grits which is not on the menu. However, I asked if they could make it and the waitress said absolutely. And I must say it was delicious and ate it too fast to take a picture of the dish. But the next time, because there will be a next time since I plan to go back I will make sure I take a picture of the dish before I dig in to it. This is a very good American fare restaurant. The entire menu (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) is served all day long. The portions are not huge, but are adequate. The staff was attentive and polite. The owner was involved in helping to serve the Sunday lunch crowd, but also asked all the patrons if they were enjoying their meal. The service was good - our waiter got our drink orders quickly, we ordered appetizers (soft pretzels and cheese bites) which came just after we ordered our entrees, and then our entrees came an adequate amount of time after we finished our appetizers. Our foursome ordered a French dip with fries, grilled cheese with fries, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, and pancakes with two fried eggs, ham, and potatoes (extra). We did ask for special requests and they were met without fail. The food tasted very good. We ordered desserts (oreo churros and lemon creme cake) and were not disappointed. I like what the owners are trying to do with their menu and ambiance. This is, as I would put it, a mini-diner style restaurant. I was excited to see you could have breakfast all day, so I got the beef & bison chili, along with a Caesar salad and a mocha. All were awesome. Once seated our waitress seemed to be too busy to keep track of our requests and things were forgotten, it seems like they are understaffed. The 5 Spot Cafe is a quaint, nicely decorated restaurant. My table was waited on quickly and the management came and made sure we were well taken care of several times. The food was delicious. We ordered the pretzels as appetizers, and the whole table loved them. I ordered the San Francisco burger for my entree, and it was delicious. It is considerably well priced, too. And there were a total of three other guests at the restaurant. Don't plan on going to this restraunt and getting quick service. Some foods here are really good, others not. You really need to know what to order. I can tell you to definitely NOT order the fries. It doesn't matter whether they are sweet potato fries or regular fries. They are limp and oily. We had a warm greeting at the door, the manager noticed me from days past, and we were seated promptly. Visited this place today. Walked in and Amy greeted us immediately. Nice and clean. Comfortable atmosphere. Drink orders taken right away! Food order taken soon as we were ready. Food came out FAST and piping hot. I had the Sante Fe Omelette my husband had the Eggs Benedict w/ a side of French Toast. Poached Eggs were cooked perfectly! Nice size portions.
