During a recent visit to Sunnyvale, my wife & I stopped here for a quick Saturday lunch. It was…read morequite busy in this small strip mall, so there was no parking in the lot. Thankfully, there was plenty of street parking right around. We walked in and saw the good selection of food available on the steam table. We both ordered a 2-item plate; mine had the lechon kawali (deep fried pork) and the longanisa (breakfast sausage), while she chose the sisig (chopped up pork cooked with onion and jalapeños) and fried bangus (milkfish). Our plates also came with steamed rice and soup. Since this is a cafeteria style place, our food was ready to eat (though our server offered to heat up the bangus a little in the kitchen). The lechon was very good, not too fatty but still had plenty of crispy skin to go along with the meat. The longanisa was also tasty, very sweet and not spicy. My devoured the bangus, dipping it in spicy vinegar. Since we were in a bit of a hurry, we took some of our food home for breakfast the day. This is a very solid place for a quick meal. There isn't much seating inside, and there were many orders placed to-go while we were having lunch. Will definitely return the next time we're in the area.

Rene Rose Filipino Kitchen is a fantastic hole-in-the-wall. If you are looking for an authentic,…read morehome-cooked comfort food experience, this hits the spot. The layout is much like a "Panda Express" style, or what is traditionally known in Filipino culture as a *turo-turo* ("point-point") restaurant. You line up at the glass counter, pick whatever combo size you want, and they plop the portions onto your plate as you move down the line. It leans m heavily on the greasy side, but it delivers that exact, deeply savory Filipino flavor profile that you just crave. The Winners: The pancit (noodles) was good and hit the spot. The beef with gravy, the classic Beef Mechado (stewed with potatoes in a rich tomato-based gravy), was another highlight, incredibly flavorful. The Critique: (Timing is Key) You should try to time your visit right. If you catch them right at a transition or later in a service stretch, some items can sit a bit. On our last visit, the deep-fried pork belly (lechon kawali) and the chicken adobo were unfortunately on the dry side. Next Time's Order: The Lumpia Shanghai (mini fried pork spring rolls) are light, crispy, and a crowd favorite. Definitely add a side of those on your next trip! It's an unassuming, local gem that serves up great flavor; just try to get there when the batches are fresh out of the kitchen!

Came here for dinner because I couldn't decide what to eat…read more The food is consistent here and the fryer is always hot! The bbq chicken and beef plate was pretty good. I don't normally order bbq but this was done well, without too much sauce. I chose to go with all Mac but this plate usually comes with Mac and white rice. I also orders the chicken katsu plate. The chicken katsu was fried well. Super crispy on the outside but the meat was not dry at all. I liked that both dishes had steamed cabbage and broccoli to help me feel better about eating more veggies The inside of the place was minimal with tables all my the wall. The staff was quick with taking orders, bringing out utensils and bringing out the food. This is always a safe choice for dinner

It's also a quick service - order before sitting down and your food comes out in 2 minutes. We got the black garlic ramen (medium spice), which was super tasty but not spicy at all, and the tonkotsu ramen (mild spice), which was rather bland. It tasted more like chicken than pork. Lots of appetizers to choose from so we tried the lumpia. Would not get again. Bland as well and dipping sauce was just your chinese restaurant packets. Water cups were red solo cups - that was fun! Love that it's a family business all around and would definitely come back to try the hawaiian side of the menu!

The produce section was not as extensive as those at other Asian markets, but it was still adequate. However, the store carried many unique candies and snacks that I have not seen elsewhere. Notably, sakura flavored products were especially common during my visit. There were two large sections dedicated to premade meals, including rice bowls, hand rolls, onigiri, and sushi. The rolls seemed overly heavy on the rice, with relatively little fish filling. The prices also felt somewhat high for the portion sizes. However, the store offers a 20 percent discount on sushi and bento boxes daily after 6 PM. I ordered the nigiri combination, which included salmon, tuna, and scallop. The scallop was plump, and the tuna was sliced thickly. The salmon was slightly thin but still rich and fatty. Overall, the fish quality was good. The sushi rice was above average, with a distinct vinegar flavor despite being refrigerated. The total cost for the eight pieces was close to restaurant pricing, though the convenience factor partly justified it. I would rate this market a 3.5 out of 5 but rounded up for the good sushi rice. I would recommend shopping elsewhere for produce, but this is a good place for snacks and premade meals, especially after 6 PM.

I think I found my new fave poke spot!! ~$20 for a large,…read morewhich is about $2 more than the regular. you got 2 scoops or protein for regular, and 3 scoops for large my brother and I got in around 730pm so it was empty. I got the large bowl with the soba noodle option (my first time getting it). This was like any other poke places, but the toppings offered were a lot more! I like that they had, mango, pineapple, radish, tomatoes, and chicharrones. And I LOVED that avocado, crab salad, and seaweed salad were already included in the price. I got the last of the soba noodles, so I was surprised that even though it was closing, she went into the back to get me more soba noodles even though it seemed like the amount she had given me was enough. they also allowed however many sauces you wanted to marinate the fish in. I chose unagi, the house sauce and ponzu. I also asked for spicy mayo drizzle at the end. my brother got the wasabi mayo but he said he barely tasted the wasabi when mixed in. total came out to be around $40 for two large bowls. I wasn't sure what I was expecting for the soba noodles, but I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it. the sauces from the marinade seeped into the noodles gave it a nice light flavor. the fish was fresh and chicharrones were such a good contrast with the crunch (im a huge textures girl). I was able to eat half and and save the other half for lunch the next day. because I got soba noodles, I did not have to worry about heating up rice and separating the fish, so it was perfect. This might be a new way im gonna have to eat my poke from now on!
