They are like the least greasy fancy egg rolls I've had in such a long time. They weren't saucy but the Buffalo flavor was so on point. Patty Melt - Again, a hit. It was like close to 10pm. And Mt sandwich still came out toasty and hot. The fries were popping and flavorful. Pulled Pork Sandwich - My husband ordered this. It was saucy! That bbq flavor was so good. Great food (the Cobb salad and Turkey Burger are favorites), great drink selection (awesome bourbon choices) and wonderful people who bolster our Inman Park neighborhood. The wait was excessive for a server, but apparently there was a switch up and when the host noticed, after that things went smoothly. There was a triple cheeseburger on the menu, i believe it's a special. It wasn't what i went there for, but i just could resist. It was around 5pm and i hadn't eaten yet that day. Started off with the wings, pretty good. The burger was delicious. Lots of cheese and bacon. A bit on the salty side, but with all those ingredients, that's to be expected. Unfortunately, our experience at Albert's was pretty pathetic. We seated ourselves and apparently chose a table near an infestation of flying ants. We personally killed four during our meal, including one that crawled across my boyfriend's burger. Besides that unforgivable mess, the service was practically nonexistent. We ordered two beers that must have been poured down the street, since they took several minutes to be delivered to our table. The inattention to us was especially frustrating since we were one of about three tables who were dining on a Tuesday night and the other waiters and kitchen staff spent their time wandering around and eating food in the back. One cook in particular was engaged in a personal phone call the whole time we were seated and went outside no less than ten times to chit chat...all while wearing his apron. I'm sure he washed his hands before returning to food prep, though. If not, the other cook who was observed scratching his crotch before pouring some ketchup in a soufflé cup could surely lend a hand. Bottom line: If you are looking for a burger and beer, I'd recommend any of the other hundreds of restaurants in Atlanta who can, at minimum, bring silverware to your table and serve food in a timely manner without creepy crawlers. This is hands-down the best bar food I've ever had in Atlanta! The Albert and the Diner burgers were both delicious! I ordered the side of kale salad. It was just okay. It was a bit too vinegary and became soggy very quickly when I took it to go. But the mashed potatoes and gravy were to die for! It tasted very much like something your grandmother would cook.I must say they have a good handle on their seasoning. I could have expected his unpolite behavior based off an ever flow of business, but no this seems to be his charm. I would question my return even though the food was good. The Albert is a solid neighborhood bar. If you're in Inman Park and are struggling to find a spot on a weekend night, The Albert is a great option if you're looking for a lowkey, cozy hangout spot. They have a lot of beer on tap and have great deals on their wine, though that may not be what brings you to the bar. Their food is solid. The restaurant has a smoker in the back, and their barbecue is SO GOOD. I had the BLT and the bacon was perfectly smoked. My boyfriend had a chicken sandwich, and the chicken was incredibly flavorful. Their Mac and cheese is super creamy. Highly recommend. Service was quick and friendly. Ordered a hot dog with chili, cheese and onions. it came served on a soggy piece of white bread instead of a bun which is utterly ridiculous. It had no cheese or onions and about a teaspoon of chili. the hot dog itself was completely inedible. It tasted like a package of salt. We also ordered the smoked wings which were dry as sawdust, they were terrible. We also got a burger that tasted like a pack of salt too. Nothing we got was edible at all. It's sad to see a once good restaurant sink to this level. One star is too high to rate this place. read more

This is located in the Inman Park area just opposite to North Highland Ave. There is a small parking area in the back of the complex shared with other places and a few street parking areas after 4pm. The interior has a very old time, pub look to it with beautifully decorated arches with silver lion heads (pictured below). The bar has a absolutely gorgeous white marble top finish throughout and is quite possibly my favorite aspect of the place. The food was very good. I had the brisket melt and smoked chipotle wings which happened to be only offered that particular day. The brisket was tender and paired well with the jus. The chipotle wings were very tangy. The Albert is a neighborhood restaurant-bar located in Inman Park behind Fritti and Sotto Sotto. While its storefront faces Austin Avenue, there are actually two entrances: (1) in the front via Austin Avenue and (2) in the back where there's a small, free parking lot. More often than not, you'll have to park on the street. Be sure to read the signs as some stretches of road are permit parking only during certain periods. This is a popular local hangout with many loyal followers. The casual, laid back atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff is nice. I like that there are plenty of TVs here, perfect for watching sports. It's a solid alternative to chain sports bars such as Hudson Grille and Taco Mac. They've even hosted Walking Dead watch parties. The interior is divided into two rooms. One room features a long bar that seats just over a dozen. It's got a few booths (with coat hooks) and a high six-top. The other room is more like a dining room, sporting a mixture of regular and high-top tables as well as counter seating that faces the open kitchen with flat-top griddle and prep station. Food-wise, The Albert is known for its Diner Burger which consists of two beef patties, two slices of cheese, mayo, mustard, pickle, and onion. Then there's the Albert Burger which comes with pimento cheese and bacon. You can also customize your own burger. Overall, the fare is pub grub and includes items such as deviled eggs, salads, sandwiches, wings, chili, chicken tenders, ribs, and hot dogs. Prices are reasonable as most plates are each $10-12 or less. Here's a rundown of items I've tried: Burgers and sandwiches: * The Albert Burger - two thin patties, pimento cheese, bacon, pickled red onion * Chicken breast "burger" with bacon (custom order) * Patty Melt - two thin patties, grilled onions, American cheese, house sauce * Brisket Melt - braised brisket, Swiss, veggies, mayo, au jus. Appetizers, sides, and salads: * Smoked Wings * Chili - 3rd place Chomp and Stomp chili * Fried Pickles - battered pickle chips with ranch * Kale Salad - goat cheese, cranberries, pecans, house vinaigrette * Bacon Creamed Corn * Mac and Cheese * Baked Beans The Albert Burger is OK. I like that it's a meaty burger, but the patties are cooked to a pre-defined temperature which tastes almost like a dried-out well done to me. I prefer my burgers cooked medium rare or medium. The bacon is deliciously thick and gratifying. I can't comment on the pimento cheese because there's barely any on the burger. The chicken breast used in the burgers is alright. It's satisfactorily tender and tasty, but also tastes like a generic, previously frozen piece of chicken. The Patty Melt and Brisket Melt fare better. I'm a fan of the lightly toasted and buttered, appetizing and chewy bread used for the melts. The Patty Melt utilizes the same beef patties as the burgers. The Brisket Melt has a decent amount of brisket, but some of the chunks are unpleasantly fatty. The "veggies" included with the Brisket Melt are carrots (and there are barely any to speak of). The au jus sauce is excessively salty and therefore not needed. The Smoked Wings aren't bad. The wings come with celery and a couple different sauces. The wings are moderately meaty and the skin has a firm texture. The kale salad is quite good with fresh crisp kale tossed with just the right amount of delectable vinaigrette. The goat cheese is a perfect topping to the greens. The other apps and sides are unfortunately disappointing. The Chili is way too salty. Because the meat is so finely ground, the chili has a consistency akin to sambal paste. Perhaps I just tried a poorly prepared batch. The Fried Pickles have a lot of hard, crunchy batter. Some good-sized pieces seem to contain nothing but batter. I hate to say it, but the Creamed Corn and Mac and Cheese taste out of a can or instant. The watery and bland Mac and Cheese reminds me of Easy Mac. Though there's plenty of smoky flavor, the Baked Beans fall flat because they are overly salty, pasty, and somewhat dry. In summary, stick with the burgers, melts, and wings (and kale salad if you're feeling healthy). Service is good. To-go orders and leftovers are placed in environmentally-friendly biodegradable boxes. read more

I've been to this bar a couple of times - most recently last night with a friend who loves it. We sat at the bar, and I have to say... When I saw the bartender I did have a brief flash of hope that he'd yank me across the bar and ravish me in a historical-romance-type-fashion. Alas, all he did was ask me what I wanted to drink. I ordered the chicken egg rolls and my friend ordered the pulled pork sandwich with french fries. The chicken egg rolls were good and the orange sauce that came with them was a good offset to the slight spice of the egg rolls. I ate one of my friend's french fries, and they were yummy. (I forgot to ask my friend if he liked his sandwich. My bad. But he did eat it all.) When I first arrived, I liked the music in the bar. It reminded me of what I think you'd hear in an after-hours spot in the 1950s. But as the evening grew late, it got louder and there was more rock music which made it hard to talk and hear. There are two rooms in The Albert. The room on the right has a couple of pool tables, and the room on the left has booths along the side of the wall. There are a couple of high-top tables as well. I wouldn't bring a big group here unless you're in the pool area. I did notice that this place does have a few regulars who all seemed to know each other. I don't go to any bars enough to have "reg status" and always wonder at such establishment stalwarts. The only downside to The Albert is the smoke. I'm not a smoker and when someone lit up at the bar, I couldn't breathe. Thankfully, the smoker could see how choked up I was because he moved the cigarette so that the smoke didn't waft into my face, and I was grateful. But I left smelling like an ashtray, and I wasn't too geeked about that. But all in all, it was a good experience, and smoker smell washes out. (Thank goodness!) read more

Unlike virtually every other pub in the local area, The Albert has a relatively weak draft beer selection. Four rotating beers to go along with a few regulars. The four did include choices I like, such as Brooklyn Brown and Lonerider Pale Ale. Diner burger is good, but not call home immediately good. Well-cooked but didn't have that meaty fresh-off-the-grill thing going on that many gourmet burgers around town have. Judging by inspection and opinion of others at the table, I may have preferred the Albert burger. It has bacon. Excellent service for a large group. On a return visit, we sat in the bar area - but not at the bar itself, which appears to be the place to be. Comfortable booth; music not too loud; TVs not too distracting. While I didn't much care for their signature and acclaimed Diner burger (see above), the deviled eggs, BLT, baked beans, collards, and green beans all were great and show that this kitchen can put out good food. Deviled eggs: topped with sriracha, which works well. I recall a time many years ago when my foodie friends mocked me for putting sriracha on deviled eggs. Well, I'm not the only one who does it! BLT: great sourdough bread, all the ingredients nice. Baked beans: these actually taste like they have bacon in them. They don't - they're just bacon-good. Collards: well-cooked and spicy! Green beans: also well-cooked, and still have a crunch. Lots of garlic bits put this one over the top. Excellent service again. Our last restaurant of Inman Park Restaurant Week took us to the Albert, with their $15 tasting menu. What was interesting to us was the fact that NONE of the items as a whole were on the Restaurant Week menu were on their regular menu. Parking is alright. There is a private lot reserved for restaurants or shops in the small plaza, but the amount of spots is limited. We were lucky enough to snag one. Since it was the end of the week, a lot of their items had run out. So we ended up compiling our three meal orders together to end up with all the remaining menu items: Fried Brussels Sprouts - So good. I love when my fried Brussels sprouts get drenched in sauce. And that's what this was. Fried Pork Cake - I believe that was the name... This was surprisingly tasty. I didn't know what to expect by it but the pulled pork inside the deep fried casing was pleasantly good. The slaw on top completed the BBQ flavors. Halfway through our meal, I decided to order a beer. There is something for everyone on tap, and after hailing someone who looked like they could work at the Albert, I was able to put in an order of the local Red Brick Hibiscuwit. It took a while getting to me, but it was worth the wait! Pork Belly - AMAZING. I was, once again, surprised. The pork belly was tender and not SUPER flavorful but very rich and I wish I could have had more. BBQ Platter - not bad. By now I was super full, but the sampler style platter gave us a taste of what they currently offer on their menu. The wings were tasty, brisket was tender, and that pulled pork though. While it definitely didn't look super appetizing, it tasted much better than it looked. Buttermilk pie - we thought this was all they had left, and I was super worried we were basically going to end up with just straight up pancakes or cornbread or something. Instead, we got this cake that was just like a cheesecake. Delicious! NY Cheesecake - the server managed to score us the last piece of cheesecake. It was just ok, but a nice change from the two slices of buttermilk cake that we were already splitting. The clock struck 9 and the whole bar atmosphere changed. 9 PM is apparently the Fear of the Walking Dead night. What began as a rambunctious sports bar turned into a silent movie theater. It's real serious. They literally turned down ALL the lights and turned up the sound on all the TV's. Everyone was Dead silent. Pun intended. I couldn't see my food and I had a hard time not paying attention to the TV (I can't watch post-apocalyptic shows like the Walking Dead). We quickly asked for our checks while finishing our dessert in the dark and got the hell out of there. I wanted to be able to sleep peacefully tonight. Overall, I'm convinced. Ive been sick the last few days and I found that high powered grease gets the acidic environment together in my stomach so what better to get than a burger and fries. With it being after 10 I had to find a place open late and this was the recommendation of choice. The albert is located on a small street so it's pretty much on street parking. I had the opportunity to arrive around 11pm so there was ample parking. I heard this was a good go to place that was low key and provided pretty good food (especially burgers). I had high hopes for this place but I received poor customer service the moment I walked in and decided to place my order to go. I had called before hand and the woman over the phone seemed great but unfortunately that was not the case when I arrived. I mean no one spoke and even when I was about to sit at the bar the bar tender wouldn't part her lips to say anything to me. I thought maybe she was "racist" and could well be but then I also noticed she didn't say much to anyone around the bar are. I find that quite odd when you're a bartender/waitress why not be bubbly or at least at minimum "what can I get for you?" Because the system won't allow me to rate 0 stars they are getting the minimum of 1. The food was good but I will Not be coming here ever again. Really kinda upset after hearing it was a great chill spot but I can not tolerate poor customer service. I visited specifically for the burgers, as I was told that they make great burgers. Which they do. I had the Diner Burger (no bacon) and it was delicious! Perfect size and perfectly done. The Brussel sprouts were another story. They're prepared with bacon and blue cheese. Basically we got blue cheese and bacon with a side of Brussel sprouts. It was very heavy and saturated. A female bartender followed me into the bathroom (after I waited in the extensive line) and told me that I had to let her use the restroom first or I would be "kicked out". Mind you, I was already inside of the bathroom (after waiting!!!) and she barged in and essentially forced me out because "she works there and she goes first". I can't help but think about if the roles were reversed and if a male bartender barged in on a female bartender. I'm almost certain if I ever required surgery on my stomach, Ronald McDonald just might pop right out! Doctors would also discover while living in my stomach he and Wendy gave birth to Five Guys and built a lovely White Castle for their family. That is until Burger King and his fiancé Krystal bought it on a foreclosure sale after I slowed down eating at all of them (single-handedly sending the burger economy into recession). So when Lindy F said she was having a burger UYE featuring #6 from Atlanta Magazine's top 20 burger list, well, I just couldn't pass that up. Since I don't get to the city much, I let my food freak flag fly and ordered a round of the smoked wings I read about in other reviews. Poor wings. I wanted for this burger to be amazing, using my mind to will my taste buds into submission. But it was just too much wrong to make it right. Hard bread, dry patties, no rye flavor, just plain bad. Honestly, my dislike for this burger may have increased my love for the Diner burger just by default. - Cream Corn w/bacon $4 | 4 Stars Unlike any creamed corn I've ever had in the past, but that worked in it's favor. I like new discoveries and this was indeed something I found delightfully creative. - Fried Pickles $7 | 3 Stars They tasted as they should, but with a bit too much breading. - French Fries $3 | 3.5 Stars They appeared to be home cut. I enjoyed them, but the creamed corn and burger worked surprisingly well. I barely touched the fries. ---------- FINAL THOUGHTS I like this place. I like this place a lot! Makes me wish I lived in one of the nearby residential flats where I could pop in for a burger or beer anytime I wanted. This could be a regular hang out, like Cheers, but with burgers added to your beer order. I highly recommend The Diner burger, the smoked wings and that dang creamed corn w/bacon. I was really hoping to give it a higher score... especially since it was a bar. But... hmm. Parking - I only saw street parking, so have fun parallel parking! I kind of hate this type of parking, but that's just me. In my perfect world, ALL places would have a huge lot or share a humungous parking deck. Service - since I was here with 15-17 other Yelpers, I think we might have overwhelmed the staff. It took awhile to get our orders, food, and drinks. I understand - it's a bar. So, I can't blame them too much, right? Environment - they have lots of TVs. Like... right next to each other - about 5 I think. Which I think is pretty neat. It's nice to see a bar goes the extra mile/cash to buy the bigger TVs. Seating - there were some 2-4 man tables on 1 side (the one with the Kitchen). And I did see as I was walking out they had seating on both sides of the restaurant. So, I'm assuming there are lots of seats! Food - The item that stole the show.... the smoked wings! Nom nom. The sauce as well. Probably one of the best wings I've had in awhile. I love wings, so I order them whenever I can. I definitely recommend ordering these. Get 10. The wings are a little small, so you'll need to scarf down some extra ones. Mac & Cheese- yeah, these tasted like the usual microwaved Mac & Cheese. Watery & bland. I'd order another side item. I saw the Kale Salad - that looked tasty. Chicken Breast Patty Melt - so, my burger had 1 TINY chicken breast in it. And that was cut in half. The bread itself was soggy, way too greasy, and heavily absorbed with cheese. I honestly just ate the chicken a little pieces of bread. :/ Fried Pickles -Another yelper ordered this so I had few bites! I'm pickier when it comes to fried pickles. Another favorite dish I always enjoy. But here - the fried pickles were hardcore stamped with batter. So much that some folks thought they were chicken tenders. I had the same thought in my mind. I mean - if you prefer your fried pickles to be a bit heavier with batter, you'll like this! But... if you're like me and like the lightly battered ones, you *may* have to take some of the extra bread off. read more

The Albert - Chicken breast sandwich with Mac and cheese - Bars Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

If it wasn't evident from the captions in my pictures, I was not a big fan of the Albert. The Albert is a restaurant bar located on Austin Ave. with full service tables in the back and a semi open kitchen. Even though they lost our reservation, the hostess was able to quickly seat us at their longest table. There are about 4 32" (this is a rough estimate) TVs posted up. There may or may not have been some in the bar area. The details eludes me. They have s small parking lot they share with a few other businesses but there is plenty of street parking as well. There is a lot next door but DO NOT PARK THERE, they will boot you, I asked. The Albert seems to have a decent beer/wine/spirits menu, given that they are a bar. They had a selection of 5 or 6 beers on tap and plenty bottled beers. The restrooms are single stall adjacent to the bar, pretty clean for a bar. Food! What we came here for, right? The Diner Burger at the Albert made it on CL's top 20 burgers coming in at number 6. I will be honest, everyone that ordered this raved about it saying it was comparable to H&F. To me, if one burger is good, all the burgers should be good. They should all be prepared the same way. However, I was severely underwhelmed by the Albert Burger. The burger is served with 2 thin patties with pimento cheese, bacon, and onions (I opted out of the onions). The burger was pretty dry overall, despite having pimento cheese. The patties were thin so they're pretty much cooked to medium well/well done. I prefer my burgers medium rare/medium. The patty melt looked okay and I thought the brisket was actually really good. The meat was much juicer than the burger. Another underwhelming thing about the menu were the sides. Everything seemed to be picked up premade from the grocery store. The fries tasted like frozen Ore Ida fries. The famous bacon cream corn, Green Giant canned corn heated up. There was debate about the Mac and cheese tasting like Easy Mac. I, personally, thought it was a step above the powdered cheese packet. The one winner for me were the baked beans. They reminded me of Chinese soybeans -- a little drier but packed some heat. Two other floating dishes were the smoked wings and chili. Skip the chili, and maybe get the wings. I thought the wings did have a nice smoky flavor. Not the best wings, but they were fine. This chili was no where in my realm of chili. It was really thick, like a paste and super salty. TLDR; Go somewhere else. read more

Came here with a group of Yelpers to try out some burgers. The Albert's Diner Burger is #6 on the Atlanta Magazine's Top Burger List. Although I'm giving this place a 3 overall, their Diner Burger gets a 4.5 rating alone. But before we get to the burger, let's talk appetizers. I tried the chili, smoked wings, and fried pickles. The chili apparently won 3rd place at Atlanta's Chomp & Stomp chili competition which is why i got it. Really questioning the judges that gave this chili 3rd place out of a couple of dozen restaurants that participate in the competition. The chili was really thick and looked like a paste. The smoked wings were decent, but nothing special here. The fried pickles were the best outta the 3; really enjoyed the batter they were fried in Now for the Diner Burger. It's two thin patties with two pieces of american cheese melted on top. They add raw red onion, mustard, mayo, and pickles. Pretty standard burger, but the flavor was amazing. All of the toppings come together to make something really special. I enjoyed every bite. I added a little ketchup, and it was even better. The burger is very similar to the burger at Holeman & Finch. Not quite as good, but very close. This is probably tied for 3rd on my personal Atlanta Metro Burger List (1st being H&F, 2nd Red Eyed Mule, & 3rd General Muir) It comes with a side of fries which my friend describes as Ore Ida frozen fries from the grocery store. I guess I agree. Nothing too special. I tried a friend's baked beans and they were much better than fries. They were thick and had a nice spicy kick. Other notes, this place is pretty much a bar. They have a decent selection of bottled bears. Only a few on tap. Plenty of TVs through out. I really enjoyed the decor. Overall I'll give this place a 3. The only thing that was good was the Diner Burger and I highly recommend coming here to try it out if you're a burger fan. read more

Last night a friend took me to Inman Park for a book signing party by one of his art school buddies. I don't make it back to this side of town often enough since I moved from the Highlands, so it was a fun change of scenery. After the book thingy, we needed a nosh and drinks and debated all the places right around us. Pleasantly, we ended up both having a first-time experience at the Albert. It's just a cool place! I think my favorite thing is that there are pics of everyone from Albert Einstein to Fat Albert on the walls. The menu is extensive and many things looked tempting like the hangar steak sandwich and the wings that others have reviewed. We ended up just getting an app, the fried green tomato (four large slices of lightly fried tomato with a delicious aioli and basil) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our server was great and everyone around us seemed to be having a good time. I thought it was cool, too, when I noticed that all kids' meals (just $4.95) come with a cupcake! Definitely a spot I'll happily return to when nearby. Oh, and for parking there's street, or at certain times you can park in the lot around the corner where Victory Sandwich is. read more
