We stopped in for a late lunch. Both of us ordered the house salad with chicken salad. We were informed that there was only one serving left of the chicken salad. The salad had great greens and good vegetables, but that one serving of chicken salad ended up being like a schmear on a bagel. We were also given the wrong salad dressings. Tried to try this place today for lunch. Short wait for a seating for 2. Menus left on table. After about 5 minutes another seating of two came in. Hostess/waitress was a bit standoffish but sat them shortly. She then walked past us a total of 5 times bussing, taking orders, and bringing drinks to the 2 tables around us. After 15 minutes we got up and left. After relaying this experience to a couple aquintances we were told we didn't miss much anyway. There seems to be a complete lack of management oversight here. We were excited to try this new place for breakfast but should have waited because it was the first day and things did not go well! It was very chaotic and it actually took one hour for food to arrive! There were 2 other tables that had waited that long too . We never ate the food because by the time it got to the table it was cold and messy so we left . Having been in the service industry for many years, I know how things should be done as far as customer service and food quality. Both were lacking . Hopefully with more experience this will be a good place to dine. I wish them well since there aren't many choices left that are good and reasonably priced! read more

I don't know how this place is still open. My friend and I went for breakfast there the service sucked . We waited for them to sit us which must be how the staff get their laughs. The staff was cutting up with each other rather than doing their jobs. So we get our order in and it comes out totally different from what I ordered. The cook from the kitchen came out with my part of the order because the lady brought me the only part of my order right. How can you mess up breakfast? I'm not sure but this place did. I have to curb my enthusiasm every time i'm remotely near this place: I literally fantasize about the "Egg Bowl." It is a bowl, it's got everything in the world you ever wanted in it, and it's all perfect: It's so good, I've never ordered anything else, and I've been there a zillion times. There is also something called "The Angry Egg Roll" that is like a big deep fried egg roll from a Chinese restaurant, only filled with melty sharp vermont cheddar, bacon crumbles and ground beef and....wait for it....you dip it in a savory piquant mayonnaise: Did anyone say hangover? Steve the owner is great, and dude knows his eggs: He'll make you proper jammy poached eggs to perfection. If you want a new addiction, get on it. My husband and I had breakfast at Angry Egg 2 two weeks ago. Wow!!! Our server Sheila was very pleasant and attentive. The food was fantastic and plentiful. The homefries are out of this world delicious. The coffee was great! The booth was roomy and comfortable and the restaurant is spacious and open. The owner stopped by the table after we ate and asked how everything was for our breakfast. A great experience! We are definitely coming back and bringing other family members! read more

i will never go there again. The line was to the door. There were a lot of empty tables that were not clean so we couldn't be sat. A waitress came over to the hostess and yelled for everyone to hear "Take there names and if they want to wait they could if not they could leave" 2 parties left. After getting seated we ordered and the food wasn't that good and I asked for OJ three times before I got there. I saw other people leave cause they were waiting to be sat and no one acknowledged them to say we will be with you soon. Hungry local that was excited to try a new place. Knew we were cutting it close coming after 2. Waitress turned us away saying they stop seating at 2:30 because they close at 3. It was 2:25. The stools were already up on the counter and the high tops. That's a fireable offense at my past employers. The restaurants I've worked at would never have turned a customer away. Especially in an establishment that's not open late in the first place. When I worked in the BOH if I got a ticket at 10:59 and we closed at 11, guess what? I fired and sent that ticket. I came in today following Bennington's annual MAYFEST as I had been meaning to try this new breakfast/lunch spot in Bennington since I became aware of their existence shortyl after their opening. Upon entering the restaurant I was taken aback by the amazing transformation the place had made since it's days the book shop. The walls are adorned with art by local artists (drawings, painting, photography ). Large chalkboards are on the walls displaying specials, and other options such as available drinks. The vibe is welcoming, and friendly. My server was polite, and checked on me regularly to make sure I had everything I needed and that the food good. The only complaint I had about my California Omelette was that it was missing the avocado. I look forward to stopping in again in the future to try explore the menu, and see how this restaurant grows and changes! read more

Walked in as one. There was a couple ahead of me waiting. A few open tables and available seats at the counter, which is where I wanted to sit. I waited at least five minutes without being acknowledged. It was very hot in there and during my five minute stay I saw one meal get sent back. The wait staff looked miserable. I took my elderly parents out for breakfast to celebrate their 66th anniversary. My parents had been to the Angry Egg 2 the week prior and said, although there is no ambiance, the food was good. I was so looking forward to sharing their earlier assessment, but, unfortunately, this time was the opposite of good! Here's what happened: We sat down at a booth and were given 3 menus. So far, so good. After deciding what we wanted, the waitress came back and took our orders; Dad ordered the "I'm Hangry" which comes with 3 eggs (he ordered sunny-side up), 2 slices of bacon, 2 sausages (he ordered links, not patties), home fries, 2 pancakes and toast. Mom ordered the "2 Egg Breakfast" (with scrambled eggs, home fries and toast). I ordered 2 scrambled eggs and fruit cup (when asked what was in the fruit cup, the waitress said "green and orange melons"). After quite a while, the waitress brought my dad a plate of 3 sad, gloppy sunny-side up eggs, 2 slices of bacon, one sausage patty, home fries, and toast. He reminded the waitress he wanted sausage links. She gave me a warm plate of cold overcooked scrambled eggs with toast (I didn't order bread because I'm gluten-free); I assumed it was for my mom, and she took it and tried to eat the eggs because she was SO hungry by then. The waitress also brought me the saddest bowl of fruit (blackberries, which I dislike, blueberries and ugly-looking strawberries that had been cut up into small pieces and didn't look very appetizing; no melon). I said I didn't want it; she took it away. Mom got nothing for a while and then she got the same cold overcooked eggs, and NO home fries. We asked for ketchup for the eggs and jelly for the toast, both of which came way late. My mom's home fries never came. Finally, the 2 sausage links came, and then the pancakes. NO MAPLE SYRUP. We asked 2 waitresses for syrup, and by the time it came, the pancakes, which were tasteless (except for the cinnamon flavor), became cold and rubbery. I shared my dissatisfaction with the waitress who was quite empathetic, but couldn't seem to do anything to make the situation tolerable. She went back and talked to the owner. He came over to our table and asked if we wanted him to comp the entire meal. I thought he was serious and apologetic by doing this, but when we were leaving, I mentioned to him that this was supposed to be an anniversary breakfast, but it was a horrible experience. He said he disagreed and was quite rude as we were leaving, sprinkling in between the snide comments "have a nice day" and the like. I don't know how long this establishment will be in business if they can't be consistently good with the cooking and presentation, as well as customer service. Yes, the owner comped the meal, as he should have, but the unprofessional manner in which he acted towards us when we left was uncalled for. I work for a local hotel and am asked daily where guests can go to eat breakfast. The Angry Egg 2 will always get thumbs down from me. read more

Great new addition to Bennington. Very clean and spacious location. I was happy with my two egg breakfast with angry hash. Definitely better than most breakfast options around here. You can tell they're still figuring things out, but they'll get there. read more
